Kate bishop who manhandles you a little bit.
Kate bishop who grabs you by your armpits and makes you sit in her lap just to kiss you, play with your hair, toy with the necklace that sits on your collarbones.
Kate who grabs your hips a little aggressively when she teaches you how to shoot a bow. Pressing her own up behind you as she guides your hands on the bow and the string.
Kate who’s so incredibly sweet in public and is the literal definition of a golden retriever but isn’t afraid to rake her hands through your hair and yank it a little when you’re home alone.
Kate bishop who turns a simple makeout sesh into wrestle mania because Yelena taught her a new move and she wants to try it out on you

"Kate stop, I'm trying to do my make-up" You say laughing when she start to tickle your waist.
She starts to chuckle at your reaction as she lean forward and continue tickling you around your waist "Make-up can wait, you look gorgeous already" she put her chin on your head, smiling at you in the mirror.
"You're such a dork" You say sarcastically rolling your eyes at her words, but continue to put your blush on your cheeks. She don't respond but instead she tickle you one more time making you mad.
You roll eyes, looking for a second at her in the mirror reflection letting her know it's enough. "If you won't stop I'll punch you, and trust me your mother won't be happy when you will arrive like that" You say half deadly serious but also with smirk. You both are going to formal party which Kate's mother invited you to. You still have much time but you both like to gather up quicker. Your comment makes her laugh, but she wouldn't be surprised if her girlfriend would hit her. Because when you’re mad you can be really assertive.
"Well, I'm just trying to enjoy the view while I can" She can't help but smirk even though you're 'serious'. Her hands on your waist still aren't moving but holding you even tighter.
"You really like that dress I’m wearing?" You say in seductive voice meaningly. You know this dress can make her want to rip it off you, especially by tight and short design. She can admit she love it and hate it because the shortness provokes her.
She smirk "Yes… really" She say in low voice leaning down a little to kiss your shoulder and whisper in your skin "Can't wait to take you out of it either" she brushes her nose into your skin smelling your sweet perfume.
"Who said you are going to take it off me later?" You say teasingly turning around to her with your back pressed into desk. Your hands immediately went to her chest fixing her black shirt.
She’s not surprised by your feistiness "And who's going to try and stop me?" She say as her smirk raises into a smug look with a slight eyebrow raise as she squeeze your waist.
"Your mother will stop you if we will be late" You say playfully, wrapping your arms around her neck looking up at her eyes.
Snort escapes from her mouth shaking her head at you "There’s still much time and I can do this right now" Her low voice was quiet and hot making your stomach feel warm.
"Now?" You giggle softly seeing how much she craves you right now. Archer started to kiss your neck slowly brushing your skin with her breath. She hummed in response kissing your shoulder stroking your dress strap with her teeth "Even if we were a little late, my mother would still forgive us" She continued to murmur. You hum pulling her closer by her neck barely listening to her when you’re in heaven.
You moved your head to the side giving her much space while she can hear your little panting. You felt her hands on your hips clenching so she can raise you up for you to sit on desk. It’s crazy how easy she can do that.
She kissed your shoulders one couple times before she pulled away slowly "You know, she likes you" Archer added smiling smugly at you, looking down at your thighs to start playing with the material of the end dress which ended really high on your thighs when you’re sitting.
"I'm glad" Your smile grow bigger at her words. You really liked her mother too. You’ve always had so much in common and many topics to talk about so you’re happy to know that.
"She always tells me to treat you well because you’re a good girl" She says with smirk in her face being proud to say that. You noticed she’s really happy with that fact. You giggled at her confession and her eyes immediately went back to you. "Am I treating you enough?" She asks squinting her eyes with that charming smile putting hands on the side of yours thighs. She knows she treats you the best she can but she likes to play with you.
"Maybe" You say playfully smiling slyly. She run her tongue through inside of her cheek staring deeply into your eyes. You can feel the need between your legs when she looks at you like that.
"Maybe?" She repeated after you playfully, lowering her head down to look at your bare thighs, and you followed her gaze. She smiled smugly, carefully spreading your thighs a little bit with her hands. You carefully watched what she was doing, already feeling excited at her movements.
"What’s something I can do to make you feel well treated, my love?" She asks teasingly keeping her hands to herself waiting for your response, like a whole gentleman. She’s playing and you like it. The sexual tension makes you both want more and more.
You pretend to be thoughtful but you exactly know what you want "Hm, my legs are a bit of cold" You replied meaningfully shrugging your shoulders with smirk on your lips. She understood your point perfectly as she snort moving her hand to your thigh slowly running up and down. "Is that better?" Her voice was smooth and low enjoying your skin with her hand.
"Mhm.." You hummed in response staring blankly at her veiny hand on your thigh feeling like you’re losing your mind at her touch. "You like it too?" Your question surprised her.
"More than yes" Her smirk was something that made you melt right now. You breathed deeply craving her fingers inside you. The muscles in her arms tense up and the grip in her hands tightens as she feel your soft breaths and see your cheeks blush pink. Her hand squeezed your thigh, brushing at your skin, making you feel lightheaded.
She noticed that you were already at the end of your endurance. "Can you do it harder..?" You asked quietly flustered with her gently touch. You needed more.
"Harder?" Her smirk turns into a sly grin as she raise one of her eyebrows at your request so she started to squeeze and caress your skin harder than before. She slightly looked at you, wanting to see your reaction as her grip tighten around your skin, really close your panties. You bite your lip as her fingers slid a little into your panties, driving over the material teasingly.
She hear your panting and she want to do more to you. "How about I kiss them instead?" Her smile grew bigger as she saw your reaction when her hand went lower, brushing over your sensitive spot.
Your look in the eyes where enough for her so she lowered her head to tease you with breath on your skin. You see her playing so you take your hand and place it on her head pulling her down so you can finally touch your thighs with her lips.
Her smirk stays on face as she feel your hand on her head and you pressing down on her head makes her feel like she have no choice but to do what you ask. Her mouth opens and her lips move onto your thigh, kissing it as she feel your body tense up and your soft moans make her want you even more. She kissed your skin slowly and gently but quickly she started to bite your skin leaving hickeys on your sensitive skin. Without hesitation you moaned feeling the best.
You leaned back resting your hands on the desk. She take advantage of it so she stopped for a while just to aggressively pull your fabric of dress higher to you hip line. She noticed your lace underwear, she bought you the other day. "You look sexy" Archer complimented you, then immediately started kissing your thighs higher and higher till she reached your hip line, stroking your panties with her teeth. No one could ever imagine how divinely you felt right now. She took your one leg and place it on her shoulder so she can kiss your inner thighs. That move was really sensual for you. You can feel your heart pounding so fast.
"Shit Kate…" You pant being at the edge of moaning, when she bite your thigh just few inches away from your sensitive spot. She can feel your whole body hot and really enjoying this which made her want to do more and more. She bite and kiss your thighs making the marks darker and more noticeable.
"I’ll have to hide it" You say looking at your thighs all over with hickeys.
She smirk then move her mouth higher up your thigh "Do you think you can walk afterwards?" She ask flirtatiously in low voice, before giving your thigh another forceful bite. You don’t care if you won’t be able to walk, it’s to amazing to care about it now.
"You will have to carry me" You reply teasingly still wanting to play. She chuckle deeply "I have nothing against" She raises her head to look at you.
"Can I take off your panties my lady?" Her breath was stroking your skin and her voice was so gentle, and you never would deny to her when she’s like this.
"Yes.." You reply excited at her words. She pull your panties gently to completely take them off. Her eyes was consuming you craving your taste. She takes your other leg and put them both on your shoulder so she can have better access, and she gently pull you closer so she can do what she want. Your body was in heaven right now.
She started to kiss your thighs again then slowly wander to your clit at lick you slowly. You moaned feeling her tongue inside you. "Fuck.." You pant throwing your head back in pleasure. You felt more hot and hot each second.
She lick and suck your clit and it was enough for you "fuck you’re so hot" She chuckle dipping her tongue deep into you, then immediately started to massage your clit with her fingers to end your suffering. You was completely choked, breathing heavily and moaning staring to feel your legs shaking. Of course archer noticed it so she on purpose made her movements even faster, and even though you’ve already came, she wanted you to made you feel better so she didn’t stop.
"Fuck Kate" You moan having already overwhelmed. She pulled her tongue out of you but continued to massage your clit way slower now. She clenched her jaw seeing your back arched. "Enough?" She chuckled stopping her movements.
Without your response she took your legs from her shoulders to place them back on the desk but she hold you close to her as you try to calm down. She wipes your juices from under her mouth with her thumb as if it’s just dinner. You pull her by your hands on her shirt to passionate kiss. After seconds of make out you pulled away. "Kate I think I won’t be able to walk because of you" You say with little smirk barely feeling your legs.
"We still have time to that party" She added smirking at you. "You can spread it out" She chuckle "and cover" biting her lip while looking at marks on your skin.

Post Hawkeye (Deaf Female Reader X Kate Bishop)
Summary: Your cute new friend Kate learns ASL for you.
Word Count: 4.4K
Content None I think... just cuteness.
Tumblr media
Two weeks ago, Kate Bishop saw you across the library.
She had just finished classes and was rushing to pick up a book she needed for an essay she HAD NOT started when she saw you.
She hadn't seen you around before, and Kate was instantly mesmerized by how your cute face scrunched as you kept your head low to read. Kate couldn't take her eyes away, and she got to see your smile when you enjoyed a particular moment of your book.
Kate loved seeing your smile and how your eyes lit up.
Kate looked at her phone and truly needed to find the book and leave now or never. But on that day, Kate Bishop was feeling bold. Blame on the need for a certain thrill since Clint took her off Hawkeye duties to focus on school, but Kate started walking towards you.
You, however, never saw or heard her coming. Not when she tripped over her own feet. And not even when she stumbled sitting down next to you.
You had no idea Kate Bishop existed.
Maybe you would have if you had your aids in, but they made you feel embarrassed and inadequate, something you've struggled with for years. Something a certain someone would help you with in time. But, for now, you choose to go without them 99% of the time.
So when Kate started with a simple greeting, that turned into an overcomplicated rambling where she gave you numerous unwanted compliments.
You didn't hear it.
In fact, you didn't even look over to the now slummed-over pretty girl with the blue-grey eyes until she slammed her head on the table in defeat.
The vibrations of the repeated knock of the head against wood alerting you.
You put a bookmark in your book before closing it to look around, hoping maybe someone lost their friend because you had no idea why she was sitting at your table.
But at last, no one had lost the captain of the archery team. So you waited for her to look up, hoping to get an answer, and when she did, you're lucky your mouth didn't drop open.
She was gorgeous. Stunning actually. You had no idea why she was sitting here, but now you didn't want her to leave. You were about to lift your hand when you saw her eyes open in shock before her pink lips started speaking a hundred miles per minute.
Too fast for you to keep up.
You tried to get her to stop, but before you knew it, the last thing you saw was her black ponytail bouncing away.
You didn't know what to make of the last two minutes, but there wasn't much you could do. So, with a frown and shrug of the shoulder, you returned to your book. Wishing you got a chance to say anything.
Exiting the library, Kate Bishop was red in the face. You had just sat there ignoring her as she tripped over all of her words and called you beautiful and babe within two sentences. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She wanted to stab herself with an arrow. Badly!
Kate shook her head because that wasn't even the worst part.
The worst part was when you finally looked at her. You acknowledged her. Kate was already embarrassed enough. So she apologized and claimed that she would never bother you again.
But yet here she was two weeks later. Spotting you from across the library just like before.
"Go!" Kate felt a nudge on her arm from her friend Laura Kinney—a fast friend of Kate after transferring from Canada a year prior.
Kate looked back at her friend. "Stop that! I'm not going." Laura rolled eyes. "You talked about this one chick not stop-"
"No! I talked about how I embarrassed myself once! You're the one who keeps bringing it up!"
Laura shook her head and nudged her friend again. "Go! She's cute, and if you don't go, I will." Kate turned her head to her friend, surprised, but saw that maybe her friend wasn't kidding. "Ugh." Kate turned back to look at you. "Fine! Okay! I'll try again!"
"Good luck!" Laura called out, knowing Kate would need it. Kate sent a thumbs up and did her best to calm her nerves. "Just apologize and don't ramble," Kate whispered to herself as she reached your table.
However, before Kate could do anything, you closed your book and turned away from Kate to put it in your bag—the action meant nothing to you. But to Kate, it would appear you didn't want anything to do with her.
That thought was further cemented when you got up without looking at her and started walking away.
Without realizing it, Kate began to walk after you.
Her walk turned into a quick jog when her brain finally caught up to what was happening. She was right behind you when she said: "Excuse me! Hi!"
Yet you kept walking.
Okay, the library is busy, and maybe Kate could've spoken up a bit louder, so she tried again, HOPING that you weren't actively trying to get away from her.
"Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I..." She trailed off when you kept moving forward, keeping your head staring straight ahead at the library's exit doors. Kate was growing embarrassed and did the one thing she could think of.
She ran ahead and turned around, stopping you in your tracks.
"Hi!" Kate breathed out with a wave, coming face to face with you for the first time. You looked up from her lips, surprised at who was standing in front of you.
It was her!
Hi. You waved back with a questioning look to Kate's beautiful eyes before looking down to her lips—something Kate noticed.
"Sorry to bother you, but I don't know if you remember me but..." That was all you caught reading her lips before Kate started speaking quicker and quicker than you could process.
In your defense, even Clint Barton, an Avenger, said Kate had more speed talking than Captain America did running.
You held your hand up, shutting Kate up. She looked at you with curious eyes and waited to hear your voice, but instead, you started signing.
I do remember you.
Kate immediately felt embarrassed. She knew very little to almost nothing of what you were saying.
She promised Clint she would start learning when he began teaching, but for someone who helped save the world, he could still be stubborn. But now The Archer regretted not learning ASL.
Kate awkwardly smiled, making you smile back, in turn, causing Kate's face to flush red. You caught it. While looking at one another, you both thought the other person was beyond cute.
"I'm sorry," Kate spoke slower than she usually would. You tilted your head as she continued. "I don't know ASL."
You made a flat smile and nodded. Most people didn't. So it wasn't surprising that the first new cute girl to talk to you in some time didn't know it either. It just meant it would be harder to forget her when she inevitably didn't want to make the effort.
But you had never met Kate Bishop till before this moment. You didn't know that she was just as stubborn as her mentor but a thousand times more annoying when she needed to be. She wasn't going to give up.
She was going to learn for you.
She was going to speak to you.
Kate watched you nod and go to walk away, but she stepped in front of you again. "Wait!" She held her hands up and quickly pulled out her phone, handing it to you. You took it as it sat on the New Contact screen and looked up with furrowed brows. "Please?" Kate asked, making you nod and blush.
Kate watched your fingers fly over the keyboard before you handed it back. You watched Kate smile and try not to laugh at your contact name: Y/N 👂❌
You bite back your own laughter. Having been used to not everyone being comfortable with something you lost at a young age.
Kate looked up to see your smile and finally broke laughing. Her pearly whites were on display until she closed her mouth and started typing in her phone.
A few seconds later, yours buzzed in your pocket. Pulling it out, you looked up and smiled. The text read: "Hi Y/N. I'm Kate Bishop 🏹!" You nodded and made that her contact name.
"So Kate Bishop... what can I do you for?"
You typed and immediately regretted sending because you sounded like someone who was a boring attorney. But Kate found it kind of charming.
You looked down from her as the three dots popped up and down, but nothing happened. You looked back up at Kate, who was nervously biting her lip.
"You ok?" You typed to Kate, who stopped biting her lip, avoided your eye contact, and replied: "Yes. Sorry!" But Kate wanted to say more. She wanted to say: "I was going to ask for your number earlier, but we kinda blew through that quicker than I imagined. So now I don't know what to do?! Do I ask you out now? Is that allowed? Would you say yes?! You don't even know me!?"
But Kate didn't say that. Instead, she wrote: "I tried talking to you a couple of weeks ago because you seemed like a really cool person. Which you are! Ugh sorry. This is so embarrassing as I type this, but I wanted to know if you wanted to be friends? 😅"
Kate added the emoji, hoping to relieve any awkwardness. And it did. But Kate asking you to be friends wasn't where you thought this was going.
Truth be told, it wasn't.
But Katherine Elizabeth "Kate" Bishop wasn't going to ask you out over text. She was going to ask you face-to-face, and she didn't want you to read her lips to make it happen.
Yet you didn't know that. All you knew was that a cute, friendly girl was choosing to seek you out and wanted to get to know you. So you smiled and nodded to Kate, whose eyes lit up. "Great!" She audibly yelled, earning a fury of looks from people around.
But a smile from you.
"Sorry." You read Kates lips as she looked around at people shaking their heads and looking away.
Kate looked down at her buzzing phone to see a message from you. "Maybe we should leave the library. Are you busy rn?" Kate froze as she looked at the words on her screen. She was supposed to be courting you. Asking you out in time. Were you flirting? No. This is just what friends do. Hang out! The two of you were now friends! Right?
Kate's turmoil-struck brain could only process so much so fast before she decided to actually look at the time and realize, yes, she was supposed to be somewhere right now. Kate sent you a frown. "I actually should be on my way to archery practice."
That made a lightbulb go off above you. That's why she wanted her name like that in your phone. You thought Kate was being cute and was saying she was Cupid or was sent by Cupid or something. However, her being on the archery team made a lot more sense. You felt silly for thinking it was the former. But you pressed on.
"I have a free period right now. Can I come?"
Kate looked up from her phone and nodded with glee. "I'd love that!" Kate yelled once again, earning glares from everyone else in the room, but the two of you paid them no mind as Kate started leading the way.
On the walk, Kate and you enjoyed one another's company while also learning about the other one. It was new and slightly awkward but adorable to any outsider looking in. Like when you asked Kate if she took up archery because of the Hunger Games, she laughed and said no. She did it because she was saved by Hawkeye during the Battle of New York.
The very same battle you lost your hearing.
But Kate didn't know. She would in time.
Not right now.
The conversation about Hawkeye led to the two of you talking about your favorite Avengers. Kate's being obvious, and yours surprising her.
You said Natasha Romanoff—the Black Widow.
When asked why, you just sadly shrugged before replying through text: "The Avengers were all great. Most of them were role models. But none of them looked as good as she did in her uniform." You laughed to hide the tears in your eyes.
But Kate saw, leading you to type: "Plus, I bet she gave the best hugs." Kate smiled at that and could agree. Her and Wanda Maximoff probably gave the best hugs.
Where was Wanda, by the way??
Kate's phone buzzed, bringing her back. "Sorry... I could give actual reasons, but I don't want to cry right now." You smiled and swallowed the lump in your throat when Kate looked over at you.
Because Kate could relate, she had only gotten to hear Clint share less than a handful of stories about The Black Widow, and each time, they ended with the man in tears.
"I have a friend who's the same. It's okay." Kate sent back to you, making you feel better before you asked her if she had read Scott Lang's book, to which she said not yet.
Meanwhile, it was in your backpack.
Three weeks from now, she would borrow it and read the chapter dedicated to Natasha and cry.
As you and Kate walked up to the field holding practice, you had Kate lead you to a spot where you could safely watch from. Unbeknownst to you, the other girls around you were friends or girlfriends of the ladies on the team. So when people saw you walk up with THE Katherine Bishop, everyone started talking in hushed whispers.
But not that you knew.
However, you couldn't lie. Watching Kate's arms and fingers hold and mess around with something that's basically string and wood never looked so hot. On top of that, the shy, awkward, almost annoyingly cute girl you had become quick friends with didn't exist anymore. When the arrow flew from her fingers, she was confident, cocky, and dominant.
Also, she was easily the best of the team. Hot.
The warmth rising in you hit a tipping point when she pointed at you and then to the bullseye on the target before mouthing, "watch this." You expected Kate to turn and look to where she was shooting, but she didn't. She looked straight at you and let the arrow go. Your eyes went from Kate to the target.
Bullseye.
The girls around you erupted into a mixture of cheers, shock, and jealousy. They all turned to you, confusing you before you saw a couple of them smile and point back to Kate as if they were praising the two of you.
You're fairly certain you saw the word "girlfriend" being thrown around, but you just shook your head and waited for Kate to come to your rescue.
_
Over the next couple of months, as the season of spring was winding down to make way for the heat of summer, you and Kate had only grown closer. Your friendship had turned the two of you into being the best of friends.
Often being mistaken for girlfriends.
A mistake that always left you and Kate blushing but never saying how awful it would be if that was the case.
It was like there was a silent understanding. Kate knew what she was waiting for, and you were too nice and kind to even think about jeopardizing what you two had.
It was expected that if one of you was around, the other one had to be within ten feet. And this was true—most times. But there had been times in the past where if you woke up in the middle of the night after passing out while reading, you'd discover Kate gone. Her bag and clothes would still be there, but she was just gone. Well, herself and... her archery equipment.
That part confused you.
You wanted to bring it up to her. Because for one reason, whatever she was doing was making her exhausted. You could see it on her face better than anyone. She was tired mentally and physically. You didn't like seeing her like that.
The other reason is that it hurt you to see someone you cared about lying to you. You hated it and didn't want to hate the girl who started holding your hand on your walks across campus. The one who never missed a bullseye for you. The same girl who decided to read The Hunger Games instead of just watching the movies for you.
So when you couldn't bear yourself to bring it up to her, you decided to wait up and catch her.
Kate had no idea you had started to catch onto her. But it's not like Kate enjoyed sneaking around. Well, she did, but that was when she was chasing bad guys and doing some recon. But she hated it when it came to you. Sneaking around behind your back felt wrong, no matter the cause.
So, as Kate quietly picked up her bow and quiver, she looked over at your sleeping form and made a motion with her hands.
You didn't see it as you faked sleeping. But if you did, you would've understood why Kate was being sneaky.
Kate turned away from you and took a few steps towards her window. Kate opened it and reached back behind her when suddenly you flicked on the light in the bedroom of her dorm as she looked ready to jump out of her window. A labeled arrow prepared to fire.
Kate slowly lowered the bow and turned her head to you. You stood wearing her high school archery t-shirt and a pair of black shorts.
Kate couldn't help but smile. She loved seeing you in her clothes.
And you loved seeing her in yours, but right now, that was the last thing on your mind as Kate sheepishly said: "It's not what it looks like."
You threw your arms up at that and ran up to her, smacking your head as if to say, "what the hell are you doing?"
Kate sighed and knew that now was the time to say one thing or the other. Or maybe both?? Kate weighed her options before gently placing her bow on the bed you two had come to share. As friends of course.
You watched Kate let go of the bow before her hands found their way to yours. Taking them from your hips.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." She started as you watched her pink lips speak. Tilting your head at the words she spilled before she softly let go of your hands to unzip her purple hoodie.
You gasped and covered your mouth when you saw what she was hiding. You looked from her guilty eyes back to her purple suit. Kate watched you step forward and raise a hand to her hip. The touch making her stomach flip while two of your fingers danced along the edge before gliding up the lining of the suit before they floated away.
Kate missing your contact already.
You couldn't believe what you were seeing. But yet, it made sense.
You'd been to enough practices to know the only match for Kate with a bow and arrow would be an Avenger. You looked to Kate's downward face and put your finger on the underside of her chin. Lifting it up. Her eyes meeting yours. You weren't mad. Well, you were, but if anything, now you were just shocked.
Are you Hawkeye? You signed without realizing it.
Yes. Kate signed ba— KATE SIGNED!
You took a step back in awe. Did that happen? You swallowed and stared at the girl, holding back a smile dressed in a purple superhero suit. Slowly, you raised your hands and, with a deep breath, signed: You can understand me?
Yes.Kate signed the exact same way as before, surprising you once again.
She was communicating with you in ASL. Your best friend- someone you cared for- No someone who you loved was signing!
Tears were threatening to spill as you ran into Kate and wrapped your arms around her. Your head burying its way into her neck. Kate wrapping her arms around you, holding you tight.
As Kate held you, she heard your sniffles and felt a few tears spill from your eyes. Kate bit her lip to keep her eyes from spilling.
It was then she decided she would keep the night of surprises going. So, after some time, she patted her hand against your back and removed her hold from you as you moved back to look at her. Your eyes were a little red, but Kate could see what was holding in them.
Kate smiled and started moving her hands. Since I met you, I've been learning ASL.
Your mouth dropped. With who? You could've asked me!?
You would've loved to teach Kate. But it had to be done this way.
Kate didn't answer you. Instead, she pulled out her phone and went to a secret photo album you had never seen before. Inside were pictures of her with Lucky, a family, some friends, and lastly... Clint Barton.
You looked up from the phone to Kate and back to the phone—Full-on, yanking it from her hands. You zoomed in on his face and then Kates before sliding through other pictures of the two of them together. A lot of them were unflattering pics of the grown man while Kate smiled brightly. But then there were some where Clint smiled and posed ridiculously for his mentee. You laughed and smiled at each one, including the ones of his family surrounding Kate.
You swiped once more, and a video automatically started to play. You felt the vibrations in your hand but couldn't make anything out. However, Kate knew exactly what was happening in the video.
It was Kate's first ASL lesson months prior. But that didn't start till ten minutes in. Instead, what was playing right now to the room was Kate in the video going on and on about this new friend of hers named Y/N. Kate mentions that you are the reason that she wants to learn sign language.
Slightly and purposely offending Clint.
"Okay, so let's say I manage to teach you, and you manage to learn, then what?"
Clint asks in the video.
"Then I ask her out."
Kate replies.
You looked up from the video to Kate. Asking why she is blushing, Kate takes a step closer to you and asks for her cell phone back. You place it in her hand. She hits the button on the side before putting it in her pocket.
I learned for you.
You watch Kate sign and mouth simultaneously, the feeling of wanting to cry from pure happiness returning. Why? You asked Kate as you smiled.
Kate lifts her hands and stops. She starts to sign but stops again.
The Archer breathes in and out.
Because ever since I met you, I've wanted to do one thing. Kate waits for you to nod back to her. I- Y/N... Y/N, do you want to go out?
She signs with a nervous smile.
Together? Sometime, like on a date. A real date! One where we dress up and go out on the town, not just eat junk in my-
You surprised Kate by jumping into her arms. Cutting off her ramblings in ASL. Kate barely had time to register to catch you before she felt just how soft your lips were.
Kate closed her eyes and melted into you. She marveled at the feeling of your smile as the kiss deepened. You pushed further into her and felt butterflies flutter inside of you at what you've wanted for so long.
Kate felt the same and would vow to always hold you closer than anyone ever could as she pulled you into her. Taking you all in.
Eventually, air had to return into your lungs.
You blushed harder when you and Kate separated. The heavy breathing between the two of you being the only noise in the room.
Yes, you signed when Kate placed you onto your feet. "You want to go out? With me?" Kate said, knowing you were watching her lips. But maybe she was wrong when she saw you shake your head no.
You moved back a bit as Kate kept her arms around your body.
I want to be your girlfriend.
Kate looked at you, making sure she saw that right. "Girlfriend?!" She asked with a glint of hope. You smiled and brought your lips to hers as you nodded before moving your hands down to hers. Taking them off your body and placing them in yours as you moved them.
You kissed Kate again as she traced her fingers over your left hand, discovering the pinky and index finger were raised. She moved from your index finger down to your extended thumb.
She pulled back and looked at your hand watching it move towards her.
Kate brought her hands up to your face and quickly kissed your lips before she moved onto your cheeks and nose, forcing a giggle out of you.
When she let go of your head, she looked into your eyes and said with an unmistakable smile: "I love you too. I love you so much!"
Kate wrapped you into her arms and held you close before she could feel you patting her back.
When she let go, you smiled and asked: So girlfriends?
Kate nodded.Girlfriends.
A million more questions ran through you as you stood in Kate's arms. But before you could stop yourself, you started with: Oh, and Kate... You laughed and signed to her before continuing. Since I'm dating Hawkeye, do I get a cool name?
Kate laughed back and raised an eyebrow. "Sure! What would you want to be called?"
You tucked your bottom lip into your mouth as you thought. An action making Kate pull your lip out of your mouth with her thumb before bringing it to her lips, almost frying your brain to the point that you nearly didn't say your answer. Bullseye.
"Why is that?"
You shrugged but hid behind an innocent smile. Your eyes briefly darting to Kate's closet before looking back to Kate.
Because I want to be the only thing you can stick your arrow in.

First-Second Date - Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
Marvel Masterlist
Summary : You're at a Café waiting for Kate to show up to your first date.

Word count : 1.9k
French version
Prompt : "B accidentally writes the wrong day down for their date, which inevitably causes them to unintentionally stand A up" 5th prompt from this prompt list made by @novelbear
Seated at a table in the Café near your University, you’re waiting for Kate. You met her at the beginning of your University year and got along instantly. Your feelings have quickly become romantic so after months of hesitation, you finally decided to ask her out on a date for the next Saturday. You were afraid she’d refuse at first in case she would only think of you as a friend, that's why you asked her by text. Kate had taken a few minutes to answer, too stunned to know you were attracted to her. When you received her positive response, you were filled with an intense joy. Now, it’s an intense anxiety that’s controlling your body. You arrived a bit earlier, too excited to hang out with Kate. Before leaving your place, you had sent her a message.
Text from you to Kate, 2:40 P.M. :
Are we still on for this afternoon ? 🥰
You still haven’t gotten a reply, but you reassure yourself by thinking she must be getting ready so she hasn’t had the time to check her phone yet. You just hope she’s going to text back as soon as she’s on her way, like this you’ll finally be able to relax. However, when ten minutes have passed since the time you had planned for your date, your stress gets a bit bigger. You wait five more minutes before taking your phone and texting her.
Text from you to Kate, 3:15 P.M. :
Hey, just wanted to know if you were on your way, we were supposed to meet at 3 🙂
You look at your phone for a few minutes but no answer is coming. You end up locking it up and ordering a refreshing drink, hoping it’ll help you to calm your nerves. Yet, when Kate is thirty minutes late, your worry is stronger. You start overthinking. You try to come up with every reason as to why she’d be late : maybe she hasn’t seen the time, maybe something more or less serious has happened or maybe she won’t come because she hadn’t dared to refuse your date. You strongly hope it’s not the latter. No, it can’t be the last option. You have been close with Kate since the day you met, you consider her as one of your best friends, she can’t not come on your date. Kate isn’t like that. Or is she ? You try to chase away those negative thoughts from your mind and with reluctance, you call her. You know you risk being categorised as the annoying girl but your worry is too strong to help you chill. Without any big surprise, Kate doesn’t answer. When the beep ending her voice message rings, you clear your throat.
“Hey, Kate, it’s me, Y/N. Huh, it’s almost 3:40 and you’re still not here and, huh, I got no response to my texts either,” you start, playing with the napkin from your table, “I just wanted to check if everything was okay. I’m still gonna wait for a bit, in case you’re simply late. But, huh, tell me if you want to reschedule. Call me back when you get this message,” you continue before waiting a few seconds, “See you.”
You hang up and put your phone down on the table. You finish your drink in one gulp before checking an umpteenth time at the Café’s entrance. In spite of yourself, every five minutes you look at your phone. You even turned it off and on, thinking maybe your phone wasn’t working correctly. It wasn’t the reason. Kate hasn’t just replied to you. Slowly, your anxiety turns into anger. It had taken you months to muster up your courage and ask her out, you were waiting for that moment impatiently. Now, you think you shouldn’t have asked her. Not only are you getting humiliated in public for almost an hour now but you’ve also lost a precious friendship. Fed up, you pay for your drink and leave the place without wasting any second. On the way, you call Kate one last time, in case she’d feel remorse and want to meet you. When her voicemail begins, you can’t help but sigh in frustration.
“Kate, it’s me, the girl you had a date with today.” you state, coldly, “I waited for you a whole hour and clearly you’re not about to show up so I left. You know, if you really didn’t want to come, you could just have told me ‘no’ instead of ignoring me and standing me up.” you finish, before hanging up mad.
You trot to your University bedroom, fists clenched. You can’t believe Kate did that to you. You would have never thought she’d be the kind of person to be disrespectful. It seems like you don’t know her as much as you thought.
During the whole night, you try to cool down by taking a shower, watching a TV-show and even spamming your best friend with messages to externalise all your emotions. What angers you the most is Kate’s silence. Usually, she replies to you in a few minutes, except when she has her training. However, she never does it after ten P.M., she could have answered you a long time ago. With difficulties, you finally fall asleep, not without checking your phone one last time.
Tumblr media
When Monday comes, you go to class with one goal in mind : avoiding Kate as much as possible. After the silent treatment she’s been giving you, you ended up thinking she deleted your number and even blocked it. You thought your goal would be easy to achieve because Kate would still be ignoring you but she has actually tried to talk to you several times. Still mad at Kate, you go in the opposite direction as soon as you see her, even if it extends your way.
After two days of avoiding her like the plague, a small part of you wants to confront her to know the reason for her absence. This part started being too loud when your anger vanished away to leave the room for your inability to understand the situation. Besides, you’ve noticed Kate still tries to come to you, despite your silence. If she’s so eager to talk to you, maybe she had a good reason ? If so, why hasn't she still replied to your texts ?
You keep wondering why Kate is acting that way, not paying attention to what’s surrounding you while you’re walking to your bedroom. Suddenly, an obstacle is in front of you. Snapping out of your thoughts, you find Kate with an awkward smile on her face.
“Hey,” she starts but you stay silent, “is it me or have you been ignoring me since this Monday ? Are you mad ?”
“No, come on, why would I even be mad ?” you ask, ironically.
“Given the tone of your voice, I’m pretty sure you’re mad. What happened ? Did I do something I wasn’t supposed to ?” she questions, frowning.
You’re about to give her a piece of your mind when her telephone ringing cuts you off. You sigh in disbelief. Kate rapidly takes out her phone and hangs up without looking at the caller ID. Watching her do that, you wonder if it’s what she did last Saturday.
“Sorry.” Kate says, putting her phone away.
“Oh, so it does work !” you state with a fake surprised tone.
“What ?”
“Oh, nothing. For a moment I thought your phone wasn’t working anymore.”
“Yeah, about that,” she starts, confused, “I wanted to tell you about it. Could you give me your phone number again ? I lost it.”
“Lost it or deleted it ?”
“Ok, I’ve definitely missed some information here.”
“Well, when you don’t check your phone, that’s what usually happens.”
“I had some problems with my phone,” Kate explains, making your eyes roll. “It fell down while I was crosswalking and a car drove over it just after. I had to change it and buy a new SIM Card.”
“So that’s why you couldn’t come Saturday ?” you continue, coldly.
“Saturday ?”
“Don’t play stupid ! Our date, Kate. We were supposed to meet on Saturday and I waited for you for a whole hour, like an idiot.”
“What ?”, she exclaims before thinking for a second, “but we were supposed to meet next Saturday so the one that’s coming ! I even wrote it down on Google Agenda,” Kate adds before showing you her phone, “look !”
“No, we were supposed to see each other last Saturday but you would have known it if you had checked your phone.”
“Y/N, I promise you I’m not lying when I tell you I broke my phone.”
Noticing Kate keeps insisting, you start doubting. Maybe her story was true and everything was a big misinterpretation. Maybe she didn’t stand you up intentionally.
“It happened last Friday that’s why I couldn’t get your text.”, she specifies, “I swear it to you ! I would have never stood you up. I’m excited about our date. I mean, I was excited, I guess.” Kate corrects herself, thinking about it for a second, “I genuinely believed it was this Saturday, the one that’s coming and I’ve been trying to talk to you the past few days to get your number’s back as I lost it. Everything is a misunderstanding ! Tell me when you’re available, we’ll do our date as soon as possible and promise, this time I’ll write it down correctly and I will be there.”
“So you’re telling the truth ?” you checked again, sceptical.
“I’d be willing to call my mom at this very minute to prove it to you, even if she has an important meeting.”
You take a few seconds to think about the new information. In the end, for you, her story seems closer to the Kate you know rather than the one who didn’t show up for your date. After all, even if Kate is precise when she’s holding a bow and arrows, the rest of the time, she’s quite clumsy. In addition to Kate’s voice, you could tell she was being genuine.
“I believe you.” you end up saying.
“Sorry for not showing up, no matter if it was accidental or not.”
“I’m sorry I snapped at you. I just like you a lot and I was so excited about our date and stressed, too. I was afraid my feelings were unrequited and you only said ‘yes’ because you had pity for me so when I wasn’t seeing you coming, I thought you were ignoring me, deliberately. I thought you didn’t care about me.”
“No, I promise you it’s not that, Y/N”, Kate refutes putting her hand on your forearm. “I meant it when I accepted your date, I care about you. I feel bad knowing you thought I had bad intentions when I actually was waiting for that moment since the day we met.”
“It’s not your fault. I know it now. I should have talked to you Monday instead of ignoring you.” you repeat, feeling guilty for jumping into conclusions.
“You had every right to be mad. You didn’t know what happened.” she reassures you. “So, we’re still on for that first-second date ? You still want us to go to one ?”
“If you promise to not do something similar a second time then yes”, you laugh.
“I wasn’t planning on it.”, Kate answers chuckling, “What if we didn’t wait ?”, she suddenly asks, “I mean, we don’t have any more classes, we’re together, we might as well go to that Café now, don’t you think ?”
“I’d love to.” you smile.
Kate’s lips take the shape of an idiotic smile when she feels your hand in hers. She tightens her grips while you’re guiding her to the Café. You’re both full of joy, you’re finally able to go on your first-second date.

Frost covered window - Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
You'd been on a walk, out to get some coffee with your girlfriend Kate by your side, listening as she mumbled on about her latest mission with Clint, and her struggles to house-train lucky, despite having had the dog for over a year now. You were beginning to think such a thing was a hopeless task when the dog had gained such common habits, but Kate was determined to make it work. There was pure love in her heart, and when she changed the subject, broaching the topic of going shopping with you—something you hadn't done together in a while—you could hear the smile playing between her words. It was bright, and when you looked at her, the flash of her teeth and the sweet, reassuring shine in her eye was all it took to convince you to agree. But for now, you were getting coffee, so shopping would have to wait.
Or so you thought. Walking down the wintering streets of New York was no new task to you, but you'd never taken the deepest of time to glance into many of the shop windows. There was one store, however, that had stolen your heart long before any other had the chance when you first moved here, and that was a small retail warehouse with the cutest plushies in the window.
Some were regular stuffed animals, teddy bears, and fluffy dogs that parents would buy their children in the place of a real living pet for Christmas, but they weren't the things that stole your heart. The deep desire you held for the store was due to one thing and one thing only. The Squishmallows that sat in the shop window, all different colours, animals, objects, and sizes. You were absolutely obsessed with the idea of owning one, but one of the plushies, in particular, drew your eyes to it each time you passed the window. It had been there for weeks, the cutest thing you had ever seen, and you were desperate for it. So desperate in fact that you stop in the middle of the street once you reach the store, Kate walking on ahead of you before she realises that she's left you behind.
When she backtracks, standing back at your side with an amused smile, you're snapped out of the trace that the store window had put you in. "Sorry," you mumble taking Kate's hand, "let's go."
You move to talk a step forward, to keep walking toward your trusted coffee shop, when Kate pulls you back to her side. "You want one, don't you?" Her smile is wide as she asks the question, and you don't know if the cold causes the red tint to your cheeks, or if it is in fact, an embarrassed blush.
"No, I was just looking." You tug on her hand again, though your gaze travels back to the window where your eyes lock on that one Squishmallow, staring back at you in the hopes that you will buy it this time. After every passing of the store, it calls to you, that singular plushie, begging you to take it home.
"Which one?" Kate's voice comes again, and you turn back to her, pretending not to long for the thing in the window as much as you truly are.
"What'd you mean?" She's still smiling and as you say it you watch Kate's gaze flicker between you and the window full of toys.
She pulls you closer to the store, an arm around your waist as you both face the glass, looking through its frosted exterior. "Which one do you want?" Her voice is genuine and not mocking at all like you thought it might be. When you look at her, she's eyeing the toys closely, as if examining which one would be best for you.
You give in, and point to the Squishmallow in the corner, the one that had been catching your eye for more than a few weeks. You couldn't believe it hadn't sold yet with how cute it was.
"That one there?" Kate points too as she says it, stepping forward to get a closer look and bringing you with her, arm still around your waist. "It is pretty adorable," She turns her gaze to you at last, her smile still present, "Just like you."
The line is so cheesy that it makes you laugh, but before you can respond Kate is dragging you into the store, the dinging of the entryway bell alerting the man behind the counter of your appearance. He's old, wrinkles covering his face like a crumpled piece of paper or perhaps a well-loved map. He seems kind and smiles as you head over to the toys in the window.
"Kate, no." You try to pull your girlfriend back as she reaches for the toy you'd been ogling previously but Kate's stronger than you are, taking the soft thing in her arms before you can even think to leave the shop.
"You want it?" She takes your hand, placing it on the toy and waiting for your reaction, and as much as you hate people spending money on you, the feeling of the comforting plushie, combined with its cuteness is tempting. You smile when your fingers meet its soft fabric and instantly Kate knows the answer is yes. She brings it up to the counter without a second thought, smiling at the old man.
"We'll take this one, please." He grins back at her, darting his eyes to you and scrunching his nose in approval.
"About time, I've seen you eyeing this cute thing up for about a month now, I kept it on hold just for you."
His statement is alarming and both yours and Kate's eyes widen, though for different reasons. "You've kept this on hold for me this whole time?" Your voice sounds just as shocked as you feel, but Kate buts in before the man can answer, her eyes on you and a frown resting heavily upon her features.
"You've wanted this for a month and didn't tell me? I could have got it ages ago if you'd asked."
All you can do is shrug in response and the old man at the counter lets out a raspy laugh, from the cold air outside or his age, you don't know. "Well, you're getting it now and that's what counts." He rings up the item and hands it back to you as Kate pays, and you thank him profusely for putting the toy on hold. That explains why such a sweet thing hadn't been sold earlier at least, and when you leave the shop, Squishmallow in your arms and a smile on your face, Kate pulls you in for a kiss. It's short and sweet, but it warms you up all the same.
"Thank you." You whisper when you've pulled back from her lips, red swarming your cheeks again. "You're the best girlfriend ever."
Kate lets out a laugh, pulling you a little closer, the Squishmallow between you. "That's all you babe, but I've got to ask the question," The tone in her voice has become serious, and the expression on her face has fallen to become the same, and just as you begin to stress, she speaks again. "What are you going to name it?" She looks down at the plush between your bodies and you kiss her again, thinking of possible answers in your head as you do so. You'll get coffee later and sit and talk about all the things you could call your new prize, and eventually, you'll choose one together. Kate will smile at every option you put forward, her grin widening every time you'll squeeze the toy before taking a sip of your drink. It's been a great morning, and the day can only get better from here.

The Effect You Got On Me (Part 5)
Tumblr media
PART V: I won't hesitate for you
PART 1 // PART 2 // PART 3 // PART 4
Summary: You're sulking around and Kate's not at her best. It's time for America to intervene.
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Reader
Warnings: Smut 18+. MINORS, DNI.
Word Count: 6.5k
Read on AO3
Author’s Note: So here it is, the final part. Thank you all so much for all your comments, reblogs, and likes, it was my fuel to keep on writing. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. The title for this one is based on Hesitate by the JoBros.
America closed the door behind her, unable to contain a deep sigh when she saw you curled up in your bed with a blanket thrown over your head. Again. You were still wearing an oversized purple sweatshirt that you had worn for days, and she was sure you hadn't moved from your spot since she last saw you in the morning. It was heartbreaking and, honestly, a little ridiculous. She walked over to you, your bed dipping as she took a seat by your feet, trying to snatch the blanket from your grasp.
"Okay, that's enough. We need to talk," America grunted, and your grip on the blanket tightened as she failed to take the fabric from you.
"Leave me alone, Mer," you groaned, turning on your side facing the wall. "I'm fine."
"I've been doing that, but I'm starting to worry, cariño, you barely leave this bed."
"It's the weekend. I should be allowed."
"It's been more than just the weekends, though," America whined as she finally freed the blanket from your grasp, pulling it completely off you and throwing it to the floor.
Another groan escaped you, covering your face with a pillow. Your voice came out muffled as you said, "Ugh, America, it's nothing. I swear."
"I'm not dumb, Y/N. I know this has something to do with Kate," America huffed.
You glanced at her from under the pillow, absentmindedly pulling at the strings of your sweatshirt, the faintest scent of lavender and musk lingering in the fabric the only comfort you had.
"Why would it have anything to do with her?"
"First off, I'm pretty sure that's Kate's," America shrugged, pointing at your sweatshirt. "You seem to be avoiding each other, and you even skipped on our last game night. Something must have happened."
You laid on your back, staring at the ceiling. Kate's words still echoed in your mind, feeling like a thorn stuck in your heart that you couldn't get out, no matter how hard you tried. You couldn't think of anything else but how Kate looked at you as she broke your heart, confirming your deepest fears that what you had truly had meant nothing to her. That sensation only heightened when you saw her across campus flirting with random chicks again a few days after, the details of her latest escapades reaching you faster than any other time before. The girls were bragging, and they wanted you to know that Kate Bishop didn't need you, as if you needed the reminder.
You were angry with Kate's stupid fan club for treating the archer like a prize to win, an object to have fun with when they would never scratch the surface of what Kate really was. You were angry with Kate for the words she said. For hurting you and throwing your friendship into the trash without a second thought. Most importantly, you were angry with yourself for falling in love with her when you knew you would be just another name on Kate's endless list. You hated how sad the silence between you and Kate made you and how difficult it was for you to carry on with your life while Kate had gone back to her usual activities as if nothing had changed. Like the months with you never even existed.
"We tried to coax the information out of Kate, but she wouldn't budge," America continued at your lack of response. "So what's going on, cariño? Talk to me."
You sighed, moving the pillow off your face. You sat on the bed, throwing the hood of your sweatshirt over your head, your back resting on the wall. America moved over to sit next to you, her hands finding one of yours and lacing her fingers together with yours to show her support. You sank your teeth into your bottom lip, preparing yourself for the conversation you were about to have.
"Kate and I had a thing going on for a few months."
America squinted her eyes, bewildered. "A thing as in…"
"Sleeping together, yes."
"Oh, I knew it!" America exclaimed triumphantly, startling you a bit. She grinned. “I told Yelena and she didn’t want to believe me, it was just so obvious!” The smile on her face faltered a little when she registered all of your words. "Wait. You said 'had'?"
You inhaled deeply, nodding your head. Despite feeling slightly guilty for sharing the story with America after promising you would keep it a secret, you told her everything, a huge weight lifting from your shoulders as you got it off your chest. America listened attentively and although she was a little scandalized that all that had happened right under her nose without her noticing, she shifted into her understanding best friend mode and kept her facial expressions to the minimum. She was only unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes when you told her about Sharon and her quarrel with Kate, unsurprisingly taking Kate’s side.
By the time you finished your story, your head was on her lap while America soothing scratched your scalp as she would always do when you were upset.
"... Kate said we just fucked and she didn’t have to explain herself to me and I didn’t know how to respond to that so I just… left."
America grimaced. “Ouch. That had to hurt.”
“Yeah.”
"Can I ask you why you went with Sharon? It's genuine interest; I'm not trying to shit on your ex!" Your best friend quickly clarified when she saw the hesitation on your face. "You spent the entire week worrying about Kate, and you still ditched her to go talk to Sharon. Why?"
"Because I'm an idiot, Mer," You replied, looking down at your fingers playing with the strings of your sweatshirt. "I thought her interest could mean something, as stupid as it sounds, and I only confirmed that part of my life is over. I'll never fall for Sharon's lies again."
"Finally, some common sense!" America chirped, and you glared at her. "Sorry, continue."
"And I needed Kate to know that in case she…" you trailed off, covering your face with your hands. "The whole thing was a mess because I'm such an idiot."
America's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "In case she what?"
"It's stupid," you mumbled.
America gasped, pulling her hand from your hair and pushing your own off your face. "Y/N Y/L/N, do you have feelings for Kate Bishop? Is that it?"
You chewed on your lip, looking everywhere but at America's grinning face. Your silence was all the answer she needed.
"Oh my god, you do!" She squealed. "This makes so much sense, why didn't I see this before? You wouldn't have sat through hours of boring practices if you didn't."
"Well, it doesn't matter anymore because Kate doesn't want anything to do with me and her fan club is enjoying her so very much." You squinted your eyes, venom spewing off your every word. "And even if she did, Kate Bishop does not believe in love or romance or anything like that. It's a lost cause either way."
America shook her head in disagreement, her fingers returning to your scalp. "I don't know, Y/N, what if she got so angry because she was jealous?"
"America, why would Kate ever be jealous of Sharon? She could literally have anything she wanted."
"'Cause she wants you, and you went with Sharon instead of her," America said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Maybe she has feelings for you, too."
"That's not possible."
"Why?"
"Because–" You breathed out. "It just doesn't make sense. I'm just… me. I'm nothing special."
"You did not just say that," America uttered in disbelief. "You are the most special. It amazes me how incredible you are. Anyone–and I mean it–absolutely anyone would be lucky to have you."
"You're supposed to say that, Mer. You’re my best friend."
"Well, let me tell you this then." America adjusted in her seat to look directly into your eyes. "The way Kate looked at you, Y/N… she'd light up whenever you walked into a room. Yelena constantly teased her about it and she would just smile. And have you seen her social media? Pictures of you, everywhere. I know she said she was just messing with the masses or whatever but come on. Hell, the fact that she was so chirpy and talkative at the ass crack of morning when she came to pick you up for breakfast?" America scoffed. "You and I both know Kate Bishop is not a morning person. If that isn't love, I don't know what that is."
"Friendship?"
America crossed her arms over her chest. "I don't see her taking me out for breakfast!"
"Well, she is no longer taking me either, so…"
America rolled her eyes. "So you're gonna do nothing? Just let it be over?"
"What can I do? Kate was pretty clear last time we spoke. I’m sure she was just waiting for the opportunity to get back out there.”
“So nothing I just said stuck with you?”
"Mer, as much as I'd like to believe your perfect fairytale, I have to look at the facts. And the fact is that Kate looks happy flirting and probably fucking her stupid fan club." You sighed. “I think the best thing I can do is just walk away with whatever dignity I have left. Move on. The semester is almost over, and Kate and I weren’t even that close to begin with, anyway. I’ll get over it.”
You could see in America's eyes that she didn't believe a single word you said, but she knew better than to push it. You were stubborn, and that idea was clearly deep in your heart. She wouldn't talk you out of it. The brunette pushed you off her lap, sliding off the bed and clapping her hands.
"You are not going to get over it sulking in this bed so let's go, I'm taking you out."
"But Mer, I–"
"No buts! You're gonna shower, change into something that isn't Bishop purple, and I'm gonna crack a window open because it smells rotten in here. And then we are gonna get junk food, and crash at Peter's to watch those crappy old movies he likes until you feel better, alright?"
You smiled sadly. Even if the heartbreak was killing you, at least you wouldn't have to deal with it on your own.
Kate wouldn’t stop glancing at the stands. Her archery semifinals were about to start, her bow was anxiously shaking in her grasp as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the arrows strapped to her back rattling with her every move. She could see some random chicks she wasn’t even sure she knew sitting on the bottom bleachers, holding signs with her name written on them. She saw a few of her professors not far from them, which she invited out of courtesy and never really expected them to show. There were also her teammates from other sports a few wooden planks up, chatting amongst themselves while the competition started. Right up front and center, Yelena, America, Peter, and MJ were deeply enthralled in a conversation that had Yelena mindlessly shoving popcorn into her mouth with her eyes wide as saucers, and Peter and MJ giddily smiling. No sign of you.
Kate tried to follow her own advice. Get you out of her system, cleanse her palate. She went to the first bar she stumbled upon, hit on the prettiest girl she could find, and made it to a hot and heavy make-out session with that girl in a dingy bathroom stall when it became clear she just couldn’t do it. The more she kissed the girl, the more she wanted it to be you. Kate paid the girl’s tab for wasting her time, went home, and stared at your contact name on her phone for a while. She tried for a few more nights, hoping for better luck, but the results were just the same. Kate wanted you, and she had no desire to touch anybody else.
That didn’t stop the rumors from flying around. The girl from the bar didn’t keep their encounter quiet, and soon enough, there were far too many women claiming to have slept with Kate in the course of two weeks. The brunette didn’t care enough to disprove the rumors, especially not when she was convinced you didn’t care, and in everyone’s mind, the balance had been restored and everything was back to normal.
But things were far from normal. Before every competition, you would hug her tightly and whisper in her ear she had nothing to worry about because she was the best. You would kiss her cheek, remind her you'd be right where she could see you, and wish her luck before walking back to your seat. None of the other girls knew what each competition meant to Kate but you did. You never told Kate she was the best because it was what the archer wanted to hear–you said it because you believed it. It was your unwavering belief in her that gave her the confidence to snatch that first place medal every time.
Now, she didn't have that and Kate hated it with every cell in her body.
The archer took a deep breath, the air hurting as it entered her lungs. You weren’t going to show. Kate knew that. She had repeated it to herself all morning, and yet she still could feel the disappointment settling in her chest. A part of her wanted to run to America, beg her to say you were just running late and you’d be there any second, but she couldn’t. It was over.
"Come on, Bishop, you've done this on your own plenty of times before. You've got this." Kate said to herself, gazing at the stands one last time. "You don't need her."
The competition started. Her team started with iffy numbers, six, sevens, and eights across the boards, but fully confident in Kate’s skills with a bow, their coach didn’t panic. Kate did, however. When it was her turn, her hands trembled a little as she lined her arrow. She breathed in and took her time to shoot, annoying whispers rising immediately. Kate Bishop was always sure, fast, and precise. She fired and her first shot resulted in an eight.
Damn it. Kate inhaled the fresh air deeply, begging her body to relax. She took her position again, focusing on the basics. Everything she told you to do that the day she taught you to shoot. It came rushing to her–her chest pressed to your back, her chin on your shoulder as she gave you instructions, her hand on your elbow, the way you relaxed when she wrapped her fingers around yours. Kate pulled the arrow and bowstring back, focusing on the happy memory. She exhaled and released the arrow. Bullseye. The cheers were loud and the corners of her mouth rose slightly, only to disappear entirely when, out of habit, she turned to the stands and saw MJ on your usual seat instead of you.
The rest of the competition went just the same. Kate couldn’t concentrate completely, scoring more nines than tens, and the occasional eight. She still came up with the best score, and her team moved up to the finals of the state championship, but everyone seemed concerned that the usually perfect and self-proclaimed world's greatest archer Kate Bishop couldn't score perfect numbers throughout the day. Something shook her ground, and everyone noticed.
Kate faked a smile through all the formalities. She apologized to her team, promised to be at her best for the championship, and thanked her professors for attending the event. She walked past the girls and straight to her friends as fast as she could. Yelena, Peter, and MJ cheered and congratulated her, but the archer could see in their eyes they were just as confused as everyone else. America only eyed her curiously with a teasing smirk.
“Come on, we’re having dinner at my place to celebrate,” Yelena announced, throwing her arm around Kate’s shoulders. “You need to relax until the big one.”
Kate stared at America, the question so clear in her eyes she didn't have to say it out loud. America knew. The brunette shrugged, giving the archer a tight-lipped smile that screamed sorry.
Kate sighed. "Thank you, guys. I, um, need to go check on some things. But I'll catch up with you guys later, yeah?"
"Kate, come on, it wasn't bad! You literally had the best score!" Peter was quick to reassure her. MJ instantly elbowed him in the ribs, saying I thought we weren’t going to mention it under her breath.
Yelena glared at them both. "Yeah, you have nothing to worry about; let’s just go eat."
"You’re absolutely going to kill it at finals; I just know it," Peter added.
“You’re the best archer on the team.”
“The team? Best archer in the world.”
"Guys," America interrupted their ramblings, keeping her soft chocolate gaze on Kate. "She said she'll catch up with us. Let's give her some space, okay?"
Peter and Yelena protested, but MJ ultimately pulled them away. Yelena patted her best friend's shoulder before walking past her, and Peter gave her an awkward side hug. MJ grabbed his hand and made him follow her, giving the archer a small smile. America didn't move, and Kate looked at her once the rest was a bit far away. America smiled, extending her arms towards the archer.
"I know I'm not her but I can give you a hug, too."
Kate raised her eyebrows, placing her bow between her feet and letting America engulf her in a hug. Kate rested her chin on America's shoulder, blinking back tears.
"She told you."
America's arms tightened around her, nodding. "Yeah, she did. And for what it's worth," America pulled away, searching for Kate's blue gaze. “Y/N misses you. And I can tell you miss her, too.”
“I can’t, she wants Sharon, and I–” Kate shook her head, wiping her tears before they fell. “I can’t. It’s better this way.”
“Is it, though?” America rubbed her arm, tenderly. "Love is not a bad thing, Kate. You're allowed to want it."
"But I don't want to want it, Mer," Kate let out with a teary laugh. "Look where it's gotten me."
“And you’ll never know where it could take you if you don’t tell her how you feel.” America smiled. “Talk to her, get it off your chest. Trust me, you’ll feel better.”
America gave her one last hug before heading in the direction the rest had gone.
With the semester ending soon, you had a small mountain of assignments to keep your mind away from how wrong it felt to skip Kate’s competition. You turned off your phone as soon as you woke up, not wanting to deal with Peter and Yelena’s guilt-tripping and insistence, which had increased in the last few days. You weren’t sure if America had told them anything, but you weren’t going to find out. You were going to focus on your degree and nothing else. You’d have all of the summer to sulk around and move on.
By the time the sun was coming down, the words on the book pages started blurring together. You exhaled heavily through your nose, closing the book and stretching. You got up from your seat and walked to your closet, searching for something more comfortable to change into. Without even looking, you picked up a pair of sweats and the first sweatshirt you found, stripping out of your jeans and shirt when there was a loud knock on your door. You huffed, annoyed, deciding to ignore it and continue changing. Whoever was outside would have to get the hint and leave you alone. You pulled the sweatshirt over your head, the faint smell of lavender hitting your nose. Of course, you grabbed the other piece of clothing you had stolen from Kate’s closet.
"Why am I like this?" You mumbled to yourself under your breath, pulling the black and purple fabric to your nose, smelling it again. Another knock on your door, more insistent this time. "Ugh, I'm coming."
You begrudgingly put on your sweats and walked to the door, swinging it open to shoo whoever was behind your door. Standing there, in a high ponytail and still wearing her archery suit, Kate Bishop stood right before you.
"Hi," she said, nervously, and the bags under her eyes told you that, much like you, she hadn't slept well in days. Unlike you, probably from all the fucking around.
She opened her mouth to say something else and without thinking about it, you slammed the door shut in her face.
You heard Kate sigh behind the door. "Y/N."
You shot your eyes closed. "You got the wrong door, move along. I'm sure there's one or two girls you haven't fucked down the hall."
"Y/N, please. I need to talk to you."
"No, I don't think you do."
Kate rested her forehead against the door, closing her eyes, her heart in her throat. "I'm sorry, okay? Please, just let me explain."
"There's nothing to explain, Bishop." You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes and you would be damned if you shed one more tear because of her. It wasn't going to happen. "We fucked, you got bored, and moved on to the next new thing. It's what you've always done. I get it."
"That's not at all what happened. Please, just let me–"
"No."
"Fine," Kate said, pushing herself off the door and crossing her arms over her chest. "Don't open it."
"I wasn't going to."
"But I'm gonna stay right here and I won't go anywhere until you do."
"You'll have to use the bathroom at some point."
"I'll hold it, I don't care. I'm not leaving until I talk to you."
No one said anything for a moment. You could see her shadow under the door, and you wondered if she actually would stay there all night.
As if she was reading your mind, she said, "I've never turned down a challenge, you know this."
Huffing and puffing, you decided to get it over with. You had so much to get done, maybe yelling at Kate Bishop to leave you alone was just what you needed to move on with your life and crush your finals. You opened the door slowly, and she looked at you with those damn blue eyes, the same look of determination she would save for archery glowing in her irises. You opened your mouth to tell her off when she just surged forward, grabbing your face with her large cold hands and kissing you squarely on the lips.
It took you a moment to react. You blinked a few times, unsure of what was happening, but the pressure of her lips against yours felt so familiar and oh-so-heavenly your body relaxed, your hands finding a resting place on her hips as you closed your eyes and returned the kiss. Kate hummed in satisfaction, tilting her head a bit to the side and deepened the kiss, the urgency evident in her movements. It felt like a well-rehearsed dance only you and Kate knew the steps to, breathing life back into your body. For the first time in weeks, you felt complete. Kate only pulled away when her lungs begged her to but even then, her mouth ghosted over you, taking her time to breathe you in.
Finally, she half-smiled. "I'm sorry, I couldn't spend another second without doing that."
"Kate, what the–"
"I panicked, okay? I started having all these feelings I never had before and I didn't want to deal with it so I ran away. Then Sharon said all these things that got to my head and I thought you still wanted her and I couldn't handle it. So, I just… didn’t.” Kate’s heart was beating loudly in her ears. She didn’t mean for the words to just burst out of her, but she couldn’t stop now. She needed you to know. “It wasn’t just sex, I don’t think it ever was. You are my favorite person in the world and it’s so scary, all these things you make me feel.” Her blue eyes glistened like sapphires with the tears welling up in them. "I've never wanted it, you know? To feel this way. To want someone so much that I feel like I'm gonna explode. I never wanted to give anyone the power to break me but here I am, giving it to you anyway because–" A shaky breath left her lips. "I've never wanted anything the way I want you."
Kate's gaze locked with yours. You saw different emotions in the blue of her eyes, the most prominent of all a level of adoration that made your knees tremble. Her thumb gently caressed your cheek, waiting for you to speak. You were stunned. Your heart was wildly beating in your chest, your voice stuck in your throat. Your brain was working overtime to process Kate's confession, fully convinced it was all a dream. There was no way this was true, it made no sense. It couldn't be.
"Please, say something." Fear was evident in Kate's voice. You opened your mouth but nothing came out. Maybe she was too late. Maybe she had ruined it. Maybe you never felt the same at all.
Finally, you sighed, a smile drawing on your lips. "Kate Bishop, you're such an idiot."
She furrowed her eyebrows, prepared for the worst, but you wrapped your arms around her, flushing your bodies together. "I don't want Sharon." You saw a glimmer of hope swimming in the stormy waters of her eyes, and you wanted nothing more than to dive in them. “That part of my life is over, it has been for a while." You pressed your forehead against hers. "I only want you."
The archer pulled you back for another kiss that felt like coming up for air after drowning. All of the hurt and sorrow that you both had carried from that last bitter encounter instantly disappeared, finally back in the place you were meant to be. Her tongue brushed your bottom lip, asking for permission, your mouth parting open automatically at the touch. Her lips were gentle against you, moving in a slow motion, unlike any other kiss you had ever shared. It felt like the first kiss. The right kiss.
Kate's lips attached to your jaw and down to your neck in a trail of soft kisses. A mewl of satisfaction vibrated out your throat, igniting a wildfire within the archer. Kate slammed the door closed with her foot, removing her lips from your neck and losing no time in pulling the sweatshirt off of you. Her mouth met yours in a messy kiss, your fingers finding the zipper of her suit, desperately trying to pull it down. You pouted when it got stuck midway, giving you a peek of her perfectly shaped breasts. You pulled a little harder on it and Kate chuckled, amused, helping you undo it. Your eyes immediately fell to the swell of her breasts as she slipped the purple fabric off her body, licking your lips in anticipation.
You raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Really? No bra?"
"Too tight." Kate smiled, her hands returning to your waist, emanating goosebumps with her gentle touch. "Comes in handy sometimes."
"Couldn't agree more," You mumbled, grabbing her face and kissing her again. She moaned at your eagerness, pulling off your pants and underwear with a swift motion. Your eyes closed and your hands fell to her shoulders, breathy whimpers leaving your throat as her mouth covered your neck in sloppy kisses. You clumsily searched for her pants, sliding your thumbs at the sides of the fabric and slipping them off, along with her underwear. You gripped at her hips and pushed her towards the bed, immediately straddling Kate. Bright blue eyes looked up at you, each of her hands falling to your thighs.
"God, I missed you," she muttered, unleashing a rattling zoo inside your belly. She kissed your collarbones, and trailed her way to the valley of your chest, her fingers ghosting over the skin of your back to free your breasts from their restraints. "Tell me you want me again."
You pulled at the hair tie keeping her hair up, a cascade of black curls falling onto her back. You brushed a few stray strands off her face with a gentle smile.
"I want you, Kate, I only want you. I want you so bad."
You kept on whispering how much you wanted her as you peppered kisses all over her face. Kate closed her eyes, thoroughly enjoying your touch with a dopey grin. Your kisses traveled down to her neck, her breathing hitching when you found her sweet spot. She drew her head back, giving you access to more skin. You rolled your hips on her thigh, moaning loudly against her skin at the friction. Kate groaned, still trying to contain herself and failing miserably.
"Lay down, Katie, let me take care of you."
You lifted your gaze from her abdomen, without tearing your lips from her skin, meeting furiously blown blue eyes. "Who knew you were this impatient?"
Kate barely had time to do what she was told before you took on her lips again with a newfound passion that made the archer grateful she was laying down. Painfully slowly, the brunette felt your lips travel to all the right places in her body, from her neck to her collarbone, passing by her breasts, taking her time with each one of them and increasing the frustration building up inside her with each stroke of your tongue nowhere near where she needed it most. Kate pulled on your hair and practically begged between heavy sighs and intense moans for you to direct your attention to the right place but you were enjoying watching her squirm under your touch in anticipation a little too much. Just as you were running your tongue through her well-defined abdomen, you captured Kate's hand on your own, stopping her from going directly to the place you were knowingly neglecting.
"Y/N, I swear to God," Kate groaned. "If you don't touch me now, I'll–"
"I'm getting there, just gotta wait a little longer."
"Fuck, I need you, Y/N," she whimpered, feeling your fingers between her thighs but not quite where she needed them to be.
"Oh, I know, baby." A small gasp left Kate when she felt your fingers exploring her folds, still ignoring her throbbing clit. "You're drenched." She grunted in desperation, pulling a bit at your hair. "Have you missed my fingers inside you, stretching you so good, Katie?" you didn't know where that came from, only that you couldn't stop. "Or did you want my mouth making you cum so hard you forget what day it is?"
"God, yes," Kate whined and she sounded desperate, lost in a place she rarely let herself be in. She liked to be in control, in charge of when and how her pleasure took her. Never at the mercy and the teasing of someone else. But she could let go of all of it with you. "Just fuck m–"
Kate stopped mid-sentence as soon as she felt not only your tongue but your fingers on her begging core, giving her more attention than she expected. A stream of profanities found its way out of Kate's mouth, euphoria coursing through every inch of her body. Her hips picked up a pace of their own as you pumped your fingers faster, curling them inside, thoroughly enjoying every reaction you received with every flick of your tongue.
"Oh, you taste so good, baby," You muttered with your mouth still toying with her sensitive bud, making her whine. "Bet none of the others ever got you like this, dripping all over, huh?"
Your question surprised both of you, but it surprised you even more how fast she answered. "No, baby, only you. This is all for you."
"That's my girl. I'm gonna take such good care of you. I always have, haven't I?"
Kate couldn't even think of any words to answer you and you were not expecting her to. Unlike all of her stupid one-night stands, you had taken your time memorizing every inch of Kate's body, and your knowledge of what made her tick ran so deep you didn't need much time to push her over the edge. Even when every bit of Kate's legs was twitching and trembling uncontrollably, you kept your full attention on Kate's center, greedily collecting every drop coming out of her with your tongue. Kate felt in another dimension, completely over the moon. When the contact started feeling like too much, she pulled at your hair and moved you away from her core. You kissed your way up her body, leaving small purple marks in the shape of your mouth under her breasts and over the skin of her collarbones. Her chest rose and fell with her hitched breathing, still whimpering softly as she came down from her high. Blue waves of ocean locked into your gaze, pulling you towards her mouth in a bruising kiss immediately after, tasting herself on your lips. As things slowed down, the kiss turned achingly sweet and steady, the kind of kiss that felt like comfort and safety and filled up your stomach with butterflies as if you were a teenager in love.
“I’m gonna need you to be gentle with me,” Kate whispered when the kiss broke away naturally, her nose bumping with yours. “I don’t really know what I’m doing.”
"Um, I'm pretty sure you do. I’ve done it with you a few times, actually. Enjoyed it, even."
"No, not that," Kate chuckled. "I mean…" Her eyes met yours again. "This. You and me. I've never–" she trailed off, a deep blush tinting her cheeks.
You grinned, swiping your thumb over the pink hue. "You’re doing pretty well so far, Katie. And we don't have to call it anything if you don't want to."
"No, no, I do. I just–I don't kn–I don't–"
You stopped her stuttering by kissing her gently, your heart feeling warm and full. "Kate Bishop, do you want to be my girlfriend?"
Kate beamed, her grin matched yours. "I want nothing more."
You were on the edge of your seat, gripping Yelena's and America's hands with all your strength as you watched Kate prepare for her last shot for her final competition. Peter and MJ held onto each other anxiously. The competition had been tied up to the last minute when the best shooter from the other team scored a 9 with his final shot. If Kate got a 10, it was over. Your school's team would be state champions again.
Kate took her position, the picture of concentration. Even from the bleachers, you could see the little smirk on her face. She had been perfect for every set–this wouldn't be the exception. In a split second, she looked your way and winked, before releasing her arrow.
You and your friends jumped from your seats, the cheers immediately erupting as soon as her arrow landed perfectly on the bullseye of the target board. Kate's team ran to her, making her laugh as they lifted her over their shoulders and chanted her last name. Yelena threw her arm around your shoulders, and America wrapped her arm around your waist.
"Three-time state champion. She's going to be unbearable." Yelena said, her smile refuting the annoyance in her voice.
"We must destroy her next game night," America said, playful determination in her tone. "We must not let it get to her head."
"MJ is vicious at UNO." Peter pointed out, looking at his girlfriend with a smile. "She could totally take Kate down."
"And Pete has gotten so much better at Battleship," MJ added. "We have options."
"Hey, watch it." You warned them with a smirk. "That's my girlfriend you're talking about."
"And your point is?" Yelena laughed. "We still need to humble her."
"Here she comes!"
Everyone cheered, a grin overtaking Kate's face as she trotted towards you with a gold medal around her neck. You squealed, running to meet her halfway and immediately jumping into her arms. Kate cackled with difficulty when your body collided with hers, placing her arms under your legs as you wrapped them around her waist. You grabbed her by the cheeks and kissed her, ignoring the teasing laughter and loud gagging sounds coming from your friends.
"You did it, baby!" You cheered after the kiss, pressing your forehead to hers. "I'm so proud of you."
"We did it," She beamed, looking at you adoringly. "I wouldn't have done it without you, my love. This medal is yours."
You gasped. "Just the medal?"
Kate rolled her eyes, playfully, her smile never wavering. "I am yours, baby girl, always."
"That's what I like to hear." You giggled, pecking her lips again. "I love you."
"And I love you."
"Ugh, can we go back to when it was a secret?" You heard Yelena say with a whine, making you both turn to her. "I don't know how much more I can take."
"For real! I knew Y/N was all lovey-dovey but you, Kate? Who knew you were this gross?" America asked, scrunching up her nose.
"I think it's cute," MJ said, watching you chuckle while Kate put you down, throwing her arm around your shoulders right after.
"Believe me, it took me by surprise, too," you said, snaking your arms around her waist. "I'm not complaining, though."
"What can I say?" Kate shrugged, kissing your cheek. "That's just the effect you got on me, baby girl."
"Ugh, that was terrible, Kate Bishop," Yelena groaned, visibly cringing. "Even Peter here wouldn't say that, and he's pretty bad, too!"
"Hey, I'm not!" Peter whined, looking at MJ with furrowed eyebrows. "Am I?"
Everyone burst out laughing, already on the way to celebrate at Kate’s apartment, your heart ready to burst with happiness, as it had for the last few weeks. Kate interlocked her fingers with yours, immediately launching into a long recount of her every thought during the competition, adding emphasis to her story using her free hand. Her eyes glimmered, her smile beamed and you could have listened to her talk forever. You hoped with all of your heart that you would.

Your whole body ached. You weren’t even sure how your feet were able to hold the weight of your body up as you stood waiting for Kate to open the door.
You’re sure the two of you looked ridiculous. Still in your hero suits, covered in cuts and bruises, probably smelling a little funky as well.
Thats one thing they don’t mention when you become anAvenger, it only looks glamorous when you’re receiving hero’s medals and keys to the city, attending charity events in gowns you could realistically never own. They don’t mention that you have to lug all your things back to your girlfriend’s dingy apartment and wait for her to unlock the door.
Kate’s fumbling with the keys, the gloves she wore to protect her fingers from her bow strings getting in the way. You give a slightly annoyed sigh as you gently take the keys from her hands being able to quickly find the correct key and unlock the door.
“Thanks!” Kate smiles at you. You returned her smile with a tired one of your own as you step through the door. You prop the door open for Kate with the arm closest, Kate hums appreciatively and ducks under your arm. You can’t help but snort at her a little as she gives you a kiss on the cheek while she passes you. She could’ve gone around you, but wanted to add a little flair and go underneath your arm. Sometimes what went on in her mind just flabbergasted you.
Lucky raises his head from his bed in the living room, giving you both a happy dog smile. You assume he can sense the fatigue coming off of the both of you because he stays put, resting his head back on his paws politely.
“Christ, that was rough” you say as you rub the back of your neck attempting to loosen some of the tight muscles there. Kate groans, dropping her bow and quiver. A few arrows skid across the kitchen floor, bow clattering on the checkered ground.
“Tell me about it, I don’t think I’ve even been nearly blown up that much in my whole life”
You look at your girlfriend’s form as she begins to unclip the utility belt that held all or trick arrowheads around her waist. She’s slightly covered in dust, it coats her usually pink cheeks in a fine layer. Parts of her suit are singed, a few scrapes cover her nose and chin. Somehow, despite everything, she still looks good.
Kate drops the utility belt on the floor next to her quiver and bow. She throws her head back, nose to the sky and gives a giant groan. You roll your eyes.
“I swear, if Sam would’ve just listened to my plan the whole thing would’ve gone way more smooth” she looks at you with watery blue eyes. You pout a little at her.
“Easy there Hawkeye,” you walk over to her, cradling her face in one of your hands. Kate leans her head into you and reciprocates your pout. “You’ll have your time, Sam can’t be the leader forever”
“I love him but he can be so stupid sometimes”
“Isn’t that how we feel about most bosses?”
“Touché” Kate shrugs and keeps her head in your hands. You roll your eyes at her and begin to trace her injuries with your other hand.
“We should get these cleaned up” you trace your thumb over a cut on her chin. She jumps and bit and winces.
“can’t you just cast a spell and make it better?” She bats her long lashes at you a couple times. Despite how many times you have told Kate, that’s not what you use magic for it can never get through her head.
“That’s now how it works Katie, and you know it” you smile at her, your hand drifting from her chin to hold her hand.
“But I hate the alcohol wipes” she pouts at you again. You actually almost feel bad for the archer. But you knew it was an act to get you to do some sort of magic for her. She was the most dramatic girl you’ve ever met.
You give her a kiss quickly.
“We need to shower.” Kate blurts. She’s rubbing your fingers with her thumb. It was your time to groan. She was right and you knew it, but the idea of taking off your suit sounded exhausting.
“Ugh but that takes so much effort”
“I’ll get out the fancy soap Laura gave me for my birthday last year”
Kate knows you can’t resist the temptation of the homemade lavender soap that Laura Barton had gifted her. Anytime Kate had showered with it and you had been around her, you were obsessed with it. Finding every excuse you could to press your nose into the crook of her neck to smell it on her warm skin.
“Sold” it was Kate’s turn to roll her eyes. She begins to drag you towards the small bathroom for the apartment. You’re dragging your feet, letting your socks glide across the smooth floor of her apartment. Kate giggles and pulls a little harder, pulling you into her.
Her back is against her bathroom door as she holds you against her. Her hands lay comfortably on your lower back as yours sit pressed against the front of her chest. You both say nothing, just looking at the other and smiling. After a day filled with almost dying, it was nice to just bask in each others presence.
Kate’s hands begin to wander downward, one hand giving a firm squeeze to your ass. You jump a little.
“Yknow we could…” she trails off, eyes glancing at your lips. Her other hand joins at your ass. You lightly hit her and scoff.
“Hey! You promised me fancy soap!” You pout at her. She throws her hands up in a surrender.
“Okay okay..I was just thinking..”
“Kate Bishop I am not banging you until you don’t have dried alien blood on you” Kate grimaces but fully surrenders as she opens the bathroom door. You follow her into the bathroom and begin to grab essentials for you both. A couple of clean towels, bathrobes for after.
While you’re doing that Kate fights with the shower temperature, it being too cold or too hot. Kate curses under her breath. You give her a look of pity before gently grabbing her hand and removing it from the faucet. You maintain eye contact with her as you use your magic to bring the water to the perfect temperature for you both. Her blue eye go soft and she smiles.
“You never cease to amaze me” she grabs your hand and pulls you into a kiss. A single kiss that turns into several small ones peppering your cheeks.
“I know I do, but the spell won’t last forever so let’s get in, yeah?” You pull the archers head away from your face, gently cradling her cheeks in your grime covered hands. She nods and begins to strip down. You help Kate out of her suit, being careful with it as you know how important it was to her. Kate returns the favor, carefully helping you out of your “wizard clothes” as you’ve so affectionately named them.
Kate massages your shoulders a little, placing a few kisses here and there as she helps you. You sigh in relief once everything is off. Feeling a million times lighter and less constricted.
“Fancy soap time?” she asks. You nod
“Fancy soap time” you confirm and step into her shower. Kate grabs a bar from the cabinet next to the sink. You can’t help but laugh a little at how pale her bare ass is. A couple freckles decorate across her lower back and her butt. It’s cute.
“Are you laughing at me?” Kate asks while standing up. You shake your head
“No” you lie.
“Whatever” she rolls her eyes and joins you in the shower.
You both take turns helping the other to wash up. Massaging over Kate’s sore back muscles with the soap. She leans her head back and sighs contented. You press a kiss to her shoulder as the warm water rains down on you both. It’s comforting to have help in the shower. Not trying to get in the others pants at the other moment. Just taking in the others presence, letting the warm water wash away the blood and grime from your assignment earlier.
You admire Kate’s muscles. Years of martial arts, gymnastics and archery had left her in fantastic shape. Sometimes it was confusing to you as to how you managed to pull her, but you would never have it any other way. Kate’s biceps flex as she squeezes some shampoo into her hands.
“Turn around, let me wash your hair” you oblige her and turn. Kate rakes her fingers through your hair, scrubbing at your scalp. You close your eyes as Kate works at your hair. Gently maneuvering you under the water to rinse the suds and then apply conditioner. You inhale the scent of her coconut shampoo mixing with the lavender from the soap. An odd combination but a combination that reeked of Kate.
Before you’d like it, Kate’s shutting the water off and exiting the shower. She wraps a towel around herself and then holds a large purple towel open for you to jump into. You let her wrap it around you before working with it to dry yourself off. Together you brush your teeth, wash your faces and take a comb through you hair in comfortable silence. That’s one thing you’ve always loved about being with Kate, is that she knows when to turn off her mouth when you really need to reset.
Once you’re both done kates sat in her bed tucked under the purple duvet. You’re shuffling through her vinyl collection, attempting to decide what to put on. You land on one of her well loved Taylor swift vinyls and put it on the turn table. The first few notes of the album begin to play and you turn to her.
You had left a pair of sweats at hers from sometime earlier when you had visited her, so you wore that and a sweatshirt of hers. It was some archery team sweatshirt from college, her last name “BISHOP” written in bold white letters across your back.
“Should we order something? Chinese….pizza?” Kate looks up from her phone, cocking an eyebrow at you.
“Ugh Kate you only want pizza because you live above a pizzeria” you hit her with a pillow as you sit down next to her. She laughs and shrugs.
“Okay okay, guilty, then what do you want?”
You spend a few minutes arguing over what you wanted to eat. Both of you hadn’t eaten since early that morning before your assignment. Eventually settling on something, you curled into Kate’s side. Both of you doing your own things on your phones. She fiddles with the ends of your damp hair absentmindedly.
You let your phone drop and sigh, staring at the wall. Kate ignores you and continues scrolling. Your fingers trace small circles on her stomach. She continues to ignore you. Another, louder sigh. Nothing.
You’re creeping your hands up her abdomen towards her sports bra clad chest. Your hand is sat on her boob, yet she’s still engrossed in scrolling.
You squeeze
Kate jumps in response. Looking away from her phone and down to you near her chest.
“The hell was that for?”
You bat your eyelashes a bit.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” you feign innocence and you give another squeeze to her tit.
“Oh you’re asking for it” Kate sits up fully, grabbing under your armpits as she manhandles you to sit on her lap. You protest a little, trying to shove her away. You both laugh a bit. Kate grabs at your sides , and you jolt in her lap. Trying to squirm away from her you shove her face away as she leans in to kiss you.
“You seemed so eager for my attention a few minutes ago, and now you’re all shy?” Her face is mere inches away from your face. You can feel her breath fan across your face. Your head towards the bottom of her bed, Kate on her knees straddling across you.
“You were paying attention to only your phone” you jut out your bottom lip at her, feeling extra bratty.
“And so were you!”
“Nuh uh!” You cross your arms and avoid looking at her. You’re hoping it pushes her to initiate something. It does.
Kate grabs at your sides again. Pushing her warm hands under your sweatshirt to touch your bare skin. You could’ve sworn her fingertips were burning holes through your skin. She started kissing your neck, working her way up to your jaw and then eventually up to your lips. Kate guides your head back to a front facing position as her hands slide up your torso, hands making their way to your bare tits. She starts to knead at the flesh as she works at your mouth.
You groan into her, arching your chest into her eager hands. Your hands tug at the roots of her hair, still a little damp from the shower you took earlier. She smells like everything you could want from her. Her coconut shampoo, the lavender soap you love so much. No longer smelling like the battle you were engaged in for most of the day. She was back to just Kate. Not Hawkeye. Your Kate.
Kate pulls away from you, but continues to grope at you. She pinches your right nipple between her pointer finger and thumb. You press your chest upwards again, a small whine falling from your mouth. You lift your head up, attempting to kiss Kate again. She pulls her head back, opting to stare down at you with a smug smile on her face. Her eyes flick up and down your face, from your lips to your eyes.
“Paybacks a bitch isn’t it?” Her eyes sparkle with mischief as she wedges a knee between your legs. You were so incredibly fucked.
Upon contact you moan. Her knee colliding so perfectly with your sensitive core. You hadn’t even realized how worked up you had gotten from just a little teasing.
“Katie..” you do your best plead with her. You HAD started this whole thing by being a brat, and now you were getting consequences for it. She quirks an eyebrow at you. Kate stops groping you, pulling her hands entirely from your shirt. Her gaze goes soft as she sits up fully, keeping her knee between your legs. You grind down on it.
Locking eyes with Kate you do it again, making a show out of the moan that escapes your mouth. Your hands run up your torso, dragging the gray sweatshirt up your body. Kates eyes trail your body as your body becomes more and more exposed. You watch her breath get hitch as the fabric gets pulled over your breasts, leaving your chest bare infront of her.
You continue to rile her up, groping at your tits and humping onto her knee. A slew of pornographic and almost obnoxious moans falling from your mouth. Kate continues to not touch you, clearly enjoying watching you get yourself off on her knee a little too much. You watched her chest heave up and down with every breath she took, blue eyes dilating with every moan that left your mouth.
If you were being completely honest, you were putting on a show for her. The thick sweatpants you had on were getting in your way, with only a small amount of actual friction getting to your aching clit. Despite Kate’s burning stare and your own ministrations at your tits it wasn’t enough. Holding Kate’s eyes, you let your hands slide back down your bod, thumbs hooking around the waistband of your sweats. Kate swallows impatiently. You knew she had to be soaking at this point.
The way she licked her lips, the way her fingers twitched. This was torture. Clearly she hadn’t have thought this plan through as much as she thought. If she wasn’t going to help you through it, you were going to do it yourself.
You slide your sweats down your legs, carefully removing them before sitting up fully so you were finally sat on Kate’s toned thigh.
Kate slips her bottom lip inbetween her teeth as she feels your heat on her. Nothing but a black thong separating you two. You reassume your previous motions. Dragging your hips back and forth across Kate’s thigh you sling your arms over her shoulders, pressing your bare chest into her own. You play with the long black locks that fall down her back as you ride her thigh. The friction of her sports bra on your peaked nipples add a spark of pleasure through you. Your nose presses against hers, just barely grazing it. You let open mouthed moans hit her face.
Kate stays strong, resisting the urge to touch you. A flex of her thigh bumps against your clit and you whine.
“Fuck this” Kate’s resolve finally breaks. She had tried to be strong, teach you a lesson for being a brat but she just couldn’t. Not when you’re moaning into her mouth.
She grabs your hips, fully taking control of your speed. You don’t protest. You let Kate dominate the pace, quickly accelerating the once dull feeling of an oncoming orgasm. Kate crashes her lips onto yours, effectively swallowing any sounds that could’ve escaped your mouth.
Your hands move from behind Kate’s back to underneath her bra. You knead at her boobs, pinching at her nipples. She jerks away with a whine. You keep at it while Kate guides you on her thigh. Your motions are limited under the constriction of her sports bra so you grab the bottom of it, beginning to pull it off of her body. Kate’s hands leave your hips for a moment as she raised them above her head.
You yank the sports bra off her body and over her head, throwing it out of sight and out of mind . Your bare chests rub against each other as you continue to rut against Kate. Almost to your orgasm. Kate whines into you every time one of her stiff nipples rubs against your own, her own hips bucking into yours uncontrollably.
A gentle bite to your lip and a flex of Kate’s toned thigh sends you over the edge. You’re finishing in your underwear. Kate moans a bit as she feels your warm release coat her thigh. You’re leaning into her, forehead resting on her shoulder as you catch your breath. Kate rubs at your back, letting her nails give you light scratches. You sit silently as you both calm down for a second.
“You’re such a brat” Kate gives a playful pinch to your butt. You roll your eyes as you sit up to look at her.
“Brat or not, you benefitted from it.”
Kate turns her lips downward a little and looks up to consider something. She shrugs.
“Well..I didn’t finish so..did I really?” She’s smug with it. Are you brave enough to accept her offer and put her in her place? She wants to push your buttons as payback.
“Fuck you” you say standing.
“That’s what I’m trying to get you to do!” Kate laughs as she lays down again. She rolls over to check her phone for what time the food will be there. Something else is on your mind though.
Accepting Kate’s challenge.
You crouch by her bedside table, opening the drawer. You look over to Kate’s back. She doesn’t stir. After a little digging you find what you want.
A clear purple glittery strap on stares at you from Kate’s drawer. It’s her prized possession. You didn’t even want to know how much she had spent on it.
Using your magic, you silently lift it from the drawer and put it on. Letting the harness adjust itself to your measurements with your magic as to not alert Kate. You clear your throat, asking for Kate’s attention once more. She rolls over, eyes going wide at the sight of you wearing her strap.
“Jesus Christ.” It’s almost like you could see her head go blank. She lays there, eyes wide.
“You said you didn’t get to finish? Well let’s finish” you grin as you straddle yourself over her. You lean down to kiss Kate. Your girlfriend eagerly reciprocates as she juts her chin out to deepen the kiss. You groan a little as Kate’s hands dig into your hair, pulling at the roots. You detach from her lips as you make your way down her neck, sucking and leaving little love bites on her neck and chest. It was times like this where you thanked whatever higher power that was out there that your girlfriend dressed decently conservatively or else you’d both never hear the end of it from the rest of the Avengers.
Kate throws her head back as you grab at her tits, pinching a nipple between your thumb and pointer finger.
“Cmon..” Kate pants impatiently.
“Oh and I’m the brat?” You say slightly annoyed, pulling off of her.
“Fuck you” she responds with the same attitude. Kate grabs at your head, trying to bring you down for another kiss. You dodge her. Giving her a taste of her own medicine from earlier.
“No Katie, I’m fucking you” you grin at her as you tug her own sweatpants and underwear down her pale thighs . You can see that she’s soaked.
Kate was often generous in letting you finish and not finishing herself. Today was not one of those days. You guide the strap through her folds, wetting it and making sure to bump her sore clit. Kate jumps in response.
“Come,” bump “on”. She’s so impatient. You decide to oblige her, sinking the strap on into her cunt.
“Shit!” Kate curses. “You could’ve at least given me some warning!” Her blue eyes are wide as her hands search for something to grab onto. You grab one of them, giving a kiss to it.
“You told me to come on, so I did” you state plainly, batting your eyes a few times at her. You give a few experimental thrusts just to watch Kate squirm under you. Some slow, some fast and short, some long. Every thrust of your hips has Kate writhing. She squeezes her eyes closed as she gets used to the feeling of the strap inside of her.
“I am so getting you back for this” Kate retorts. You thrust into her hard enough to make her tits bounce. She moans, loud.
“Bold words for someone who’s got my dick shoved inside of her” you could’ve sworn you felt her squeeze around the silicone cock at your hips. She groans.
You stop.
“God, just shut up and fuck me” she grins at you as she leans upwards, you meet her halfway. You kiss her as you begin a steady rhythm into her. Kate smiles onto the kiss, her hands anchoring themselves into your hair.
The harness rubs perfectly at your own clit. Mixed with the pleasant feeling of Kate’s hands in your own hair you can feel your own arousal seeping down your thighs again as you fuck into Kate.
Kate’s whining underneath you as you thrust in and out of her, one hand going down to play with her clit. She gasps once she feels your hand down there.
“Shit I’m close” she’s breathless, her voice barely above a whisper. And honestly you are too. You were still relatively sensitive from riding Kate earlier so the friction of the harness was working you at a steady pace. You keep at the solid pace, pinching Kate’s clit in an effort to get her to her peak.
“You got it, doing so good” you praise her. And that’s what does it. Kate gushes as she receives your praise. She’s finishing on the silicone cock with a whine of your name.
You give a few desperate thrusts in an attempt to finish yourselves once more. You’re whining with desperation , rhythm thrown out the window as you chase your high.
You’re finishing again with a final thrust. Pulling out of Kate as quick as possible to not overstimulate her and make her uncomfortable. You shed yourself of the strap and your soiled underwear, joining Kate as you lay down.
You kiss her neck gently, rubbing at her sides. She wraps her arms around you and plants a kiss to the top of your head.
“Thanks uh…for letting me finish.” You can’t see her face, but you can feel Kate’s smile pressed against your head. Despite smelling like sex, her skin still smells like the soap you love so much. You her a kiss under her jaw.
“Of course, I couldn’t have left you hanging.” You smile at her. You can hear the record player still spinning. You had no idea when the record had stopped playing. You lay with your girlfriend for a few moments. You trace lines from freckle to freckle on her stomach. Another kiss is pressed to her bare chest.
“Do you think we’ll have to fight more aliens tomorrow?” She asks, looking at the ceiling.
“God I fucking hope not, I need to sleep for at least a day to rest up from today alone” you groan. You really had no more patience for intergalactic threats.
A buzzer rings, jolting you and Kate from your comfortable silence. The buzzer for Kate’s front door. The food was here. Lucky barks at the buzzer and you can hear his feet tap against the flooring on the lower level.
You and your girlfriend give a moan of annoyance, having just got comfortable. You sit up holding your fist out to her.
“I win, you go get the food and if you win, I get the food…best two out of three?” You smile expectantly at Kate.
Kate laughs at you and holds out her fist, ready to kick your ass in rock paper scissors.

This Is Me Trying - One - (A Y/N Parker Spider-Woman X Kate Bishop Story)
Tumblr media
masterlist
Summary: The Winter semester is challenging as you fall behind on exams and essays all while an old threat emerges.
Word Count: 3.3K
Content: College stress, cutie Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
You, Y/N Parker, loved Christmas time.
You loved how it changed the city from a smelly concrete jungle into a smelly concrete jungle but with snow!
Lights went up with trees covered in decorations. Lattes got better, and so did the cookies.
The air got colder, and sometimes the people got warmer. Whether it was buying things for strangers or for a lifelong friend. Random acts of kindness increased, but on the flip side, so did the rate of crime.
Plus, swinging in the cold was awful, but with some insulation in the suit, it helped.
All of this to say you still loved this time of the year.
"You know, since you love it so much, how about you let me go? You know, like you said, kindness of strangers and all that!"
You looked at the guy webbed to a pole who just mugged a woman coming home from work and tilted your head.
"You know what you're right. Tis the season!" The man nodded as you took a few steps closer. "However, on second thought!" The man's eyes widened before you webbed his mouth shut.
"Marv, how many times are we gonna do this, buddy?" You patted the man's head as the sirens were approaching.
"Happy Holidays!" You yelled as you swung up to the nearby rooftop, looking for the woman whose purse was in your hand.
As you stay perched on the corner, your phone starts to ring. It was Peter—your best friend and brother. You debated whether to answer it or not, but eventually, you gave in and pressed the side of your mask.
"Hey man, what's up?"
"Not much... I know it's late, but I- I was just wondering if you started on Dr. Ohnn's paper yet? I'm completely lost. H-He knows we're sophomores, right?!"
You chuckled and sighed.
You haven't started on the paper yet.
"Sorry, Pete. I've been busy..." You heard Peter let out a disappointed sigh.
"Y/N... you're out, aren't you?" You felt bad. For the last couple of weeks, Peters has been asking you to take it easy with your after-school duties due to the number of exams these previous few weeks have had and, as mentioned before, the crime rate, but you haven't. If anything, you tacked on more. "Y/N, you know how dangerous I still think this is."
You rolled your eyes. "Yes, Peter, I know, but-" Before you could finish, you saw a person jump from one rooftop to another two blocks down from you. "Hey Pete, I gotta go..."
"Wait Y/N... Y/N!"
The line went dead as you tapped the side of your mask and took off, swinging purse in hand to the stranger on the rooftop.
As you front-flipped from your webbed, you laughed. "Well, if it isn't the purple bird!" You said when you got up from your landing pose, scaring the crap out of the archer. He jumped and drew his bow on you before realizing who it was.
With an exaggerated groan, he withdrew his weapon.
"What do you want, Spider!?" He sounded annoyed. You put your hands over your heart. Purse still in hand. "Ouch! I just wanted to check up on the man who destroyed 30 Rock last year."
Clint Barton rolled his eyes.
"It was a tree and a skating rink. Get over it." You raised your hand and mocked the archer as you stepped onto the roof's ledge.
"Where's the youngster?" You asked switching topics. Clint raised an eyebrow. "What are you spying on me now?" You put your hands up. "As if! Just curious. Making conversation. It's not my fault you two happen to fall into my patrol area."
Clint looked at you. "Your patrol area?" You nodded. "It's called New York. Ever heard of it?" Clint rolled his eyes again. "You can be a pain in the ass sometimes, you know that."
"I've been told."
"By friends?" You laughed. "No by enemies. Wait..? Why did you hear something?"
Clint cracked a smile. "Maybe." He hadn't, but he enjoyed this back-and-forth you two played. Like his protege, it was nice to have someone around who reminded him of the heroes of the past. People that brought hope for the future.
"So is that purse yours or?" Clint looked up from his binoculars at you. "No. It's not my color." When Clint didn't laugh, you continued. "Lady got mugged, and I don't know where to find her."
Clint looked from the purse to you and did it two more times. "What?" You asked when no words were spoken. Clint huffed. "You have her purse. It probably has her ID." You tilted your head before your eyes got wide. "Oh! Her address!"
Clint nodded yes and grumbled about you before looking into his binoculars again.
"Thanks, bird man!" You said as you looked at the address. It wasn't far. "Same time tomorrow?" You asked as you twhiped away.
Clint sent you a thumbs-up even though he wasn't paying attention. But you didn't know that. You saw a thumbs up and smiled.
You were getting through to the old man.
As you twhiped to the woman's place to return her purse, a bright-eyed Kate Bishop saw you.
"It's the Spider!" She very awkwardly whispered to no one else before running to the building; she had no idea you had just left from.
And when she got to the top: "Clint!" She shouted, making the archer jump before realizing who it was. "What!?" He said, looking at her as she smiled with excitement. "The spider! I just saw her!" He nodded like a dad would. "And?" He said. "And! And! And isn't that cool!" Clint shrugged. "I guess. She was here. She actually asked about you." Clint held in a smile.
It was a not-so-secret that Kate had a slight crush/admiration for the web-slinging hero.
"And!?" Kate took the binoculars from Clint and awaited his answer. "And... that was it. Nothing else. She joked around. I rolled my eyes. That was it."
Kate was going to press for my information, but Clint was useless when it came to details so mundane.
"Ugh. Fine. Here." Kate tried to hand the binoculars back, but Clint shook his head. "Look and tell me what you see." Kate looked through them and into the window of a known wheelman. "Tracksuits." She said, making Clint nod.
"See the guy with the awful chops?" Kate shifted her focus to a guy with bad facial hair. "Yeah."
"Look past him on the wall." Kate did just that and smiled. "I thought people only drew on blueprints in the movies?!"
"Our guys must watch a lot of movies," Clint said as he chuckled.
Kate put the binoculars down and looked at Clint. "After last year, do you still think Kingpin and these guys are connected? I mean..." Kate made a gesture that said, "really, these guys??" while pointing in the direction of the Tracksuits.
Clint shrugged. "I think it's best to believe they're connected than to not. Plus.. drugs and money still need to be run for guys like Kingpin. Any disposable person that's easy to pay is like Christmas to these guys."
Kate thought about it and nodded as she looked through the binoculars again. "Remember when we destroyed 30 rock."
Clint groans and closes his eyes. "It was a tree and an ice rink. Not the whole city!"
While Kate was busy trying to figure out what annoyed Clint and what Kingpin was planning next, you were busy climbing into your dorm through the window.
You tore your mask off as your feet landed on the floor. You ran your covered hand through your freshly shortened hair and took a deep breath before frowning. You sniffed the air before lifting your suit close to your nose. "Ah, man.."
The city really got to it tonight.
You tossed your mask into the hamper in your closet as you started wrangling out of your suit. You've been meaning to make adjustments to your suit since your arm muscle has only grown, but you hadn't, which left it a bit tight to get out of sometimes.
Lucky for you, you never had people drop by unannounced, so you could always take your time-
"Y/N is that you- OH MY GOD!"
You turned towards the voice of your brother as the top half of your suit fell, showing off you in your black sports bra and toned abdomen.
"Peter!" You yelled as he threw his hands over his eyes. "I didn't know. I'm sorry!" He shouted as he went to run out the door but hit your wall instead, causing him to fall to the floor, knocked out.
An hour later, as you moved your clothes from the wash to the dryer, Peter woke up. And after scolding him about not knocking, you and him got to work on Dr. Ohnn's paper.
But with your exhausted brain and body. Plus Peter's... mild concussion, you two didn't get far. So, just as you were about to suggest calling it for the night, your roommate came home.
Where she was or who she was with was always a mystery to you.
"Hey, losers!" Michelle-Jones, aka MJ, greeted you and Peter as she ran to grab the TV remote sitting on the table. She clicked it on and found the local news channel. "MJ, what are you-" She held up a finger and shushed your brother. "Look!" She pointed to the screen as a reporter was standing in front of a run-down apartment building that was on fire. "It's the fifth one this month!" MJ stated. "Everything thinks I'm crazy, but I know insurance fraud when I see it."
You and Peter weren't sure how to continue.
"Okay..." You started. "What's your point?" You questioned, hoping your roommate and friend was going somewhere with this. "Obviously, someone is doing something very illegal."
"Okay..." Peter said. "What can we do about it?"
"We can't do anything about it. But someone here can." MJ started motioning her head towards you, making you sigh. "MJ. I've told you multiple times. The pictures were a summer thing. I don't take their pictures anymore!" MJ rolled her eyes. Clearly not believing you. "Whatever you say..." She narrowed her eyes at you. "Spider!"
Before you could argue back, MJ got up and went to the fridge before taking a box of pizza to her room. "I'm gonna crash. Night."
"I brought that pizza..." Peter quietly said as you collapsed onto the couch. "You were gonna give it to her anyways." You turn your head to Peter. "Was not!" He defends, but you see through him. "You've had a crush on her for the last year, so please let's be honest here."
Peter closed his mouth and then said: "You're the one not being honest with her."
"Dude."
"Sorry," Peter mumbled. "It's just she's going to find out on her own if you don't tell her." He whispered. You nodded. "I know. I know. But you and I both know that the fewer people that know, the less I have to worry about. The less people get hurt."
Peter wore a sad smile on his face. "You're right. I.. I just hate lying to her."
You looked at Peter as he brought his knees close to his chest on the other end of the couch. "I'm sorry, Pete." He nodded. He knew it was easier for you to do this if the less people knew about your other life, but he wasn't sure how much longer he could lie to MJ.
The following morning, after Peter returned to his dorm, you woke up late.
Apparently, in your sleepy daze, you hit 730 into your calculator app and not your alarm clock application. On top of that, you forgot to charge your phone, so as you panicked to get ready for the day, you quickly put in the cable to charge.
You grabbed your closest pair of jeans and threw on your school sweater, all while grabbing the textbooks scattered on your desk.
You ran into the kitchen and grabbed your last pair of pop tarts before heading to the door and slipping on your vans. You zipped up your bag and bolted out the door.
However, you immediately reentered your dorm, ran into your room, snatching your glasses and phone, now on 16%.
_
The lecture hall was full by the time you entered. The booming of the door attracted the attention of everyone.
Your brother included. Your eyes found his, and he gave you a weak smile as you sat at the first seat you could find.
When you pulled out your textbook and looked up, you saw Dr. Connors sigh before he continued speaking. "As I was saying. Yes, just because the holidays are upon us doesn't mean we won't have our test on Friday. I want something fun to grade over the break, people." He gave an awkward chuckle that few students, including you, gave back. "Oh, and don't forget. Your papers on physics are still due by the end of the school year. If you've forgotten... well, there's a reason I'm tenured, and this class lasts all year." He smiled and proceeded to dismiss everybody.
Everybody but you.
"Y/N Parker. A moment."
You knew it was coming, but you kept your head up high. You look to Peter, and he nods. He'd see you after class.
"Dr. Connors, look, I'm sorry about being late-"
"Late?" He cut you off. "You missed the whole dang class." You sighed and adjusted the bag around your shoulder. "Look..." Dr. Connors started. "You're a bright student. I've seen it firsthand, but lately... it's like you're not even here. Your grades have been steadily declining. You always appear exhausted."
You nodded. "I'm trying. I wanna be here!"
"Then be here." He said before he sighed. "You still haven't told me what your physics paper is on."
You perked up at that. "I plan on doing it about fusion and Dr. Otto Octavius."
Dr. Connors sighs. "Well, planning is not a major at this university." He walks past you and goes to the giant board in the middle of the room. He then stops. "Octavius is a friend of mine. Better do your research, Parker." You nod. "I'd really hate to see you fail."
"I don't want to, sir." You say, making Connors look at you with a sad smile on his face. "I can pass along your information to Octavius. Whether he contacts you or not is up to him. After that..." He looks at you. "It's up to you, Parker."
When you exited the lecture hall, you found Peter talking to your mutual friend Ned. The closer you got, the more you saw Peter panic and tell Ned to "shut up."
"What's going on?" Peter shook his head as if nothing was wrong. You looked to Ned, who sheepishly looked away. "Ned." You drug his name out.
Ned took one look at you and broke. "I think I might know about the fires around the city!" He smiled and looked excited. It paid to have Ned be the guy in the chair.
You looked at Peter. "You didn't want him to tell me?" Peter sighed. "Y/N, you have so much going on already we don't need you." He gestures with his hand as if he was shooting a web. "Right now. Besides, you haven't even started on your essay, and you just got in trouble with Connors!"
Before you could defend your lack of action, you get interrupted.
"Hey guys!"
Immediately, your stress melted away as you looked down at Kate Bishop. Captain of the Archery Team. Your friend and study partner.
Oh, and your crush.
Katherine Elizabeth Bishop.
"Hey Kate!" You said a little too excitedly, something that everyone caught on to. Thankfully, they chose not to make a big deal out of it. "Hey, Y/N." She looked at you and smiled.
There goes the butterflies.
"So what are you three amigos talking about?" She bounced on her heels as she looked away from you and to the other two. "Oh, nothing!" Peter said. "I don't think you're allowed to say that?" Ned added with a confused face.
"Doesn't sound like nothing," Kate said, making Peter glance at you. "Sounds like Y/N is getting in trouble with Connors." She replied as she turned to you with a teasing smile. "Let me guess..." She made a thinking face. "Too busy studying for our History test?"
History test!! Oh crap, that is Friday!
"Okay, based on the look I just gained, you forgot." You nodded. Kate made a hmm noise but kept her head towards you as she thought.
"Shit," Ned spoke up. "Peter, we gotta go, or we'll be late!" Peter looked at his watch and came to the same conclusion. "Gotta go! See you, Y/N! Bye, Kate!" Peter and Ned took off running down the hall and out the doors before they sprinted across the courtyard.
"What class do they have?" Kate asked.
"Robotics."
"Sounds about right." She said. "We should probably get going." Kate smiled and gestured her head in the general direction of your History class with Kate. "Don't worry about the test," Kate said as you two walked side by side. "You always do just fine." You shrugged her compliment off.
Kate noticed. "But I was thinking if you want..." You looked at Kate and noticed her fingers interlocking with one another. "Maybe you could come to my dorm to study some more. Besides, I still need help on the laws and how they changed once the Sokovian Accords were ratified."
You and Kate had always hung out in mutual gatherings and settings. You two were good friends, but you had never been to her dorm.
On top of that. Alone.
You suddenly felt very warm and wary of your every move.
"That sounds great!" You managed to say. "When were you thinking?"
Kate thought. If it were up to her, you'd come over tonight, but Kate wasn't sure what her roommate Cassie was doing. Plus, she and Clint had a hot new lead to follow up on. "Ummm, is it cool if I text you?"
You nodded. "Sounds great." You smiled widely and pushed the door to your History class open. Letting Kate walk in first. You and Kate walked to your seats and sat beside one another.
"Shit." You heard Kate mumble when she opened her bag. "You okay?" You asked. "Uh yeah.." She bit her lip. A habit you noticed that she only got when she was embarrassed. "What's wrong?" You asked when you tore your eyes away from her chewed-on pink lips.
Kate sighed when her lips parted. "I forgot my textbook. I thought I packed after Clint- Clint-on Clinton and I got back from Archery, but I guess I didn't." Kate didn't look your way.
She was now warm and aware of every move she made.
"Hey, I surprisingly remembered mine." You pulled yours out. "We can share." You moved it in between the two of you. "Really?" She charmingly lifted her eyebrows. "Really." You said.
Kate let out a little cheer and wrapped an arm around you. "You're a lifesaver!"
If only she knew.
Kate didn't remove her arm from around you as quick as she usually would have; instead, you could feel her hand slide up your muscles to your shoulder.
Kate had been noticing your muscle growth as of late but didn't know where it came from...
Eventually, Kate removed her touch from you.
Yet you still felt her.
"It's no big deal." You said about sharing the textbook. But you and Kate both knew that based on your actions recently, you remembering to bring your book or not falling asleep in class was a miracle.
This was Kate's first time forgetting a book, and she could sense Clint's disappointed sigh.
Kate smiled as she watched your fingers turn the corners of the page in the textbook. Her eyes lifted to your fingers, to your sweater, and up to your face. She watched your side profile as you silently read a paragraph to yourself. She only stopped when you looked her way and hid a smile when you pushed up your glasses. "What's up?" You quietly asked.
"Do you want to come to my archery practice tomorrow?" Kate whispered back.
Kate wasn't sure what you had going on in your life. You and her were close but not close, like with Peter, Ned, and MJ. So she never pushed.
Plus, she liked you and didn't want to ruin what you two might have.
But when you said, "Yeah! That sounds awesome!" Like a dork, Kate smiled.

Caving In
summary: You're on a break when Clint calls you in need of your assistance.
warning: mentions of fighting, blood, injury, cursing

a/n: got tired of writing this like halfway through so sincerely apologize if it's shit.
----------
The mug burned hot in your hand; the freshly made coffee nearly boiled within as you set it on your coffee table. The morning had seemed all too blissful for once, and you, yourself, even found it to be questionable. It was nearly Christmas, a holiday you'd hardly gotten to celebrate over the years. You told yourself this one would be different, you deserved a break, and you were determined to get one, but then the loud ring of your cell phone went off, making you recoil at the all too familiar sound. The concept of merely ignoring the call was the first to cross your mind, but it was Clint, and you knew he'd never treat you in such a manner.
"I'm on break." Letting your eyes flutter shut, you gritted your teeth; his faint chuckle sounded through the phone. "I need you."
Being in New York, standing outside some random girl's apartment was not how you imagined your Christmas. You knocked softly, hoping no one would answer and perhaps you'd get the chance to return home, but the door swung open just as your fist left the door, and there you stood in front of the beaming woman whose cheeks were lightly painted pink. "Is clint here?" you tried to look past her into the flat, but it appeared nearly empty. She looked off at you for a moment; her lips tugged into a cheery smile; you would smile back had you not just traveled to New York despite; wanting nothing more than to stay home.
"He's asleep on the couch." she noticed the scowl on your face as she nudged her head towards the living room. "Can I-" her fingers gripped at the door frame, her eyes squinted in question before it seemed to dawn on her what you were asking. "Oh right, of course," she muttered, stepping aside. She watched as you strutted over to her couch, finding the older man peacefully at rest, but then you swung your bag over your shoulders and harshly dropped it onto his stomach. He responded in a second, his shocked, sleepy gasp spilling past his lips.
"Wake up, sleepy head!" You had a grin on your lips, the look you had been giving him far different from the one you greeted her with; she reminded herself not to take it personally. Clint jumped up at the sound of your voice, his tired expression replaced with a look of giddiness and hope, and he embraced you, nuzzling your face into the nape of his shoulder; Kate could make out the heartfelt smile that tugged at the corner of your lips.
"How's the family?"
"Disappointed." Kate knew it had been her fault; she had been the very cause of the reason the two of you could not be at home. He pulled away from you, his hand still glued to your back. "This is Kate." your eyes met hers once more; her expression conveyed that she was flustered.
"I'm-"
"I know who you are." she recounted, eyes suddenly widened and cheeks a bright red. "Alright." you nodded, shooting a slight look at Clint, which he returned with a smile. "So what am I here for?" you turned your attention to Clint, raising a brow and crossing your arms. "I thought we were done with this superhero shit?"
"I was, but Kate needed me, and I need you," he answered honestly, causing a sigh to fall past your lips. "Let me guess." Narrowing your eyes, you looked back at Kate. "Rich girl can't handle her own problems?"
She was taken aback, lips parting, a look of hurt plastered over her once endearing smile. "T-That's not true."
"Isn't it?" you questioned; you didn't mean to snap at her so suddenly; you just did. Kate's head pounded abruptly; the crown of her head felt as though it had tightened completely. "No, I didn't ask for your help," she expressed, nibbling the inside of her cheek; she felt mortified.
"Then why am I here, Kate?" Kate grew silent, chewing at her lips as she shifted uncomfortably, snapping her gaze away from you when Clint spoke up; your eyes had yet to leave her, noticing the faint red in her once bright eyes, her jaw clenched.
"I can't do this without you." Clint declared.
"What even is it?"
Kate got into a real pickle; you almost could pity the girl. She stood as Clint spilled everything to you, catching your eyes a few times, never missing the judgemental glare you had been shooting at her. "Let me get this straight." Letting out a breath, you straightened your posture to look at the pair in front of you.
"You killed a gang member's father?" pointing at Clint; he wore a look of remorse. "Tracksuit mafia."
"Whatever, stupid name. You put Clint's suit on, and now they want to kill you?" you questioned, looking over at the woman who bowed her head in shame. "And you think your mother's boyfriend has something to do with all this?"
"Basically."
"I'm going to kill you both myself if I don't get home in time for Christmas. Goodnight." your tone had been oddly calm as you moved away from the pair, going to some empty bedroom you claimed as your own.
"She means it." Clint gave Kate a slight nod before giving her a reassuring pat on the back. "Get some rest, kid."
---
Kate had been awoken that morning by a loud bang on her bedroom door; she hardly could adjust her eyes before you barged into her room. "Oh good, you're up." your sarcastic tone made her whine lightly, shielding her eyes from the sun. "Katie, if you don't get up right now, we'll be wasting more time. Do you want to waste my time?" There was a sour look on her face that you couldn't quite understand her reaction, so you brushed it off as her not being much of a morning person, but then she spoke. "Don't call me that." Kate hissed slightly, rolling back over in her bed so she could look at the wall instead of your wandering gaze.
You hardly realized you called her anything other than her name; it dawned on you that you only misspoke, but to Kate, the feeling in her chest was a reminder that her father once called her that; it left her feeling sick. "Okay… I've got an idea." you ignored the weight of the air and continued as you typically would.
Kate thought the idea was stupid, but she didn't object. "This is ridiculous," she uttered softly, only then when she stood at the front door, waiting eagerly for the woman to answer. "Oh hush!" you let out a chuckle; perhaps you'd only been trying your best to get into character, but to the woman, it made her lips tug upwards into a slight smile.
The door flew open, meeting her mom's jolly expressions; you gripped the woman's hand suddenly, causing Kate to freeze altogether; her cheeks warm. "Oh, Kate! I wasn't expecting to see you." her eyes soon met yours, causing you to flash the kindest smile you could muster. "Kate, you didn't tell me you had a-" Kate only let out a huff, whispering something about not making it weird.
Sitting alongside Kate, you watched as her mother and the gentleman danced together and giggled. You felt as if you had been intruding on such a passionate time, and you wanted nothing more than disappear entirely; shooting Kate a look, she seemed to feel the same.
She rose, gently taking your wrist in the process, uttering out that she wanted to show you around, but her mother hardly seemed to listen as her eyes stayed glued to the older fellow. Her hold on you remained until you had been out of sight of the pair. "They seem…" you trailed off, not quite having the words to express what you felt towards them. "nice." you decided on; Kate only looked at you, shaking her head lightly, leading you into some office. "This is his, Clint; what are we looking for?" she questioned the man in the earpiece.
"Flash drive," stating it bluntly, you let out a gentle sigh, looking carefully throughout the office.
Kate moved quicker than you, and just as she pulled out what could've possibly been the flash drive you had been looking for, the sound of heavy footsteps sounded in the hall, and your gaze met Kate's worried one. Before you could even process what was happening, you leaped over to the woman, slipping your hands up to cover the length of her cheeks, dragging her down so her lips could meet yours. She seemed stunned for the hundredth time that day but eased into it quickly when the sound of the door handle turned lightly.
"Oh!" his heavy accent sounded throughout the room, quickly breaking away from each other as if you had just got caught unknowingly; Kate had been pretty good at pretending, you thought. Her words came out suddenly, the stuttering word mess slipped past her freshly kissed lips, and she had been fidgetting more. You couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of your lips, pressing a finger over the top of them.
"Um… We were just-" her brain seemed to go blank, looking at you for a moment and then the man. "We were…"
"Oh, just say something, Kate!" Clint's voice boomed in her earpiece; she looked at you for support, eyes begging you to say anything because right now, all she could think about was the rushed kiss and the feel of your hands. "I'm sorry, sir. We just got a bit sidetracked." you flashed a shy smile.
"Oh! No worries at all! I know exactly how that is." he offered with a quick smile and wink. "Don't worry. I won't tell your mother." he teased lightheartedly, causing the woman to go impossibly red.
"We should get going, right Katie?" you bit your tongue when you realized you had once again made the mistake of calling her something other than her name. "Katie? I haven't heard that since-" her mother slipped into the office, a look of sadness over her face. "Her father." she finished causing the girl beside you to gulp lightly. It dawned on you all at once, and now all you wanted to do was apologize to the woman, but it seemed to be no use; she hardly even seemed to wanna look at you. "Let's go," Kate spoke softly, her hand finding a home on your back; you could hardly deny how natural it felt.
"I'm sorry." Once out of the house, you spoke, eyes glued to the sidewalk. Ripping her earpiece out and tucking it away, she hardly seemed fazed by your apology. The woman had been miles away; you could tell, purely because her hand never left your waist.
----
With the flash drive in hand and all the secrets unfolded, you could tell that Kate wished she had never gotten into all this. Finding out the truth about her mother must've been heartwrenching, and you could tell by the look on her face that she felt broken. "I'm sorry, Kate." Clint offered a sympathetic smile. "Kate, Clint, and I can handle this," you reassured. The woman suddenly looked at you; her eyes had the same hint of redness from the first time you'd told her she couldn't handle her problems. Kate didn't want you to be right about her, but her heart had been bursting at the seams, and she knew you could see it. You offered a look of tenderness, reaching out to gently overlap her hand with yours.
You saw that she had been human, filled with mistakes and regret; you wanted to help her, take away any trouble. "I was wrong about you, Kate," you uttered, biting the inside of your cheeks when you noticed the single tears that dropped from the corner of her eye. "You're so brave, but you can stop right here."
Kate wasn't sure when you happened to start being so considerate to her; only a few days ago you had been huffing that you had to help at all; she knew you probably only pitied her, but the look in your gaze conveyed nothing more than care. "I need to do this," You seemed tense, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before retreating into your lap. "Let's get ready then."
In Kate's room, you watched as she fished out dresses with shaky fingers and eyebrows knitted. "Nervous?" you called out, leaning back onto her bed; she flashed you a look. "Aren't you?" she paused her actions for a moment, staring down at her choice of dresses. "I've been doing this since I was 16, Kate. I don't feel anything anymore." the tone had been off-putting, snapping her gaze back at you; she noticed the almost discouraged look; you replaced it with a quick smile. "Wear the black one."
"16, huh?" she spoke almost to herself, turning away from the woman when she ripped the sweatshirt off. She understood now why you had been so adamant on that damn break of yours. "Aren't you exhausted?" You shifted in the bed, a slight clear of the throat. Kate had been asking too much, and you were never comfortable sharing your feelings. "They're family." You shrugged. "I didn't have much before them."
"Sometimes, it's better that way." you knew the woman had now been speaking from experience. "So?" Kate questioned, clearing her throat lightly. "How do I look?" Drawing your eyes to the woman, you took in her appearance. She looked stunning in her neatly tailored dress; you offered no compliment; instead, you flashed a friendly smile, rising from her bed, motioning the woman over. Her cheeks burned bright as she took slow steps over to you until she stood directly in front. Her breathing seemed hitched as she looked at you; only now could she recall the quick kiss the two of you shared, and it didn't fail to leave her heart jumping from its place. Your hands settled on her waist, and you watched as her eyes widened; the soft giggle that slipped past your lips made the feeling of her heart worse, and then you spun her entirely.
"Kate…" you spoke into the silence. She could only hum back in question. "Are you wearing your suit under?" you teased, fingers gripping her dress zipper. "No…" she hesitated; a cheeky smile broke onto your lips, shaking your head lightly, zipping up her dress; you softly gave her waist a slight squeeze.
"You're all set."
---
You'd never been to a dinner party before, so to say you felt out of your element had been an understatement, and you wondered if Kate noticed because she kept shooting reassuring smiles your way. You found yourself at the bar, smiling lightly at the bartender. "Gin and Tonic, please." with a slight nod, the man moved quickly to make your drink. A soft hand made itself known on your lower back, looking over your shoulder and meeting her gaze briefly.
For a moment, the scene had felt all too normal. It almost felt like you had been there with Kate as nothing more than her date. "Should you be drinking?"
"It's one drink, Kate." turning to her, you leaned against the bar, meeting her wondering gaze. Clint had made himself busy in the room, scoping out the area, and all the two of you had been doing was gazing at each other; you knew Clint would kiss his teeth if he caught the two of you.
"You look really-" Her words cut short when suddenly, a loud piercing sound coursed throughout the room, the sound of the windows breaking and erupting screams. Kate reacted quickly, pushing the two of you behind the bar. Your heart pounded against your chest as the two of you pressed behind the small bar; it was never like you to feel so anxious; something was different this time.
"Find your mom." your words came out breathless as you rose slightly from behind the bar; you could deal with this. It had only been gunshots, and you've dealt with much worse. A quick hand stopped you, holding tightly at your wrist before she tugged you back into her. Her free hand carefully found your cheek, drawing you in for a rushed kiss; like the one, you had shared in the man's office. When she pulled away, her eyes were wide.
"I'm sorry… I don't know why I just did that." the woman began rambling, cheeks flushed over into an embarrassed blush. Your hand found her cheek gently, pressing a chaste kiss to the corner of her lips. "Kate, we've got other things to worry about." She seemed to be in her own world, worried about something so insignificant. You let your thumb caress the woman's cheek for only a moment before you quickly left her, eyes wide and lips parted.
-- You moved until you found yourself outside; the countless vans and men pouring out showed you how outnumbered you'd been. You had been standing there alone when the man charged at you, the knife in his hand moving vigorously, and his lips wore a cocky smirk. "Just you?" his accent heavy, and when you shrugged, his smile grew, taking a quick step toward you. You reacted quickly, dodging the man's sharp blade, capturing his wrist in your hold, and twisting until his cries sounded. He had been at your knees, mutters of apologies echoed through his screams, you kneed him in his chin to shut him up.
Releasing your hold on his wrist, you noticed the group of men heading your way. You thought you could take them if you moved quickly enough, but the man had been far quicker; his gun was loaded, and no matter how fast you moved, you could never outrun the bullet that headed your way. The warm feeling soaked up in the fabric of your outfit; you hardly noticed it hit you until the sharp pain coursed through your entire abdomen. Letting out a shaky breath, your vision blurred, your breathing hitched.
You could hear the sound of an arrow piercing the man, but all the sounds appeared so faint. your hand softly came up against your stomach, touching lightly at the damp clothes. "Fuck." had been all that you managed to mutter; you were dazed, no longer caring about the threat at hand; you just needed somewhere to rest. You found yourself at the side of the building; your fingers buried deep into your stomach; the bleeding didn't stop. "Y/N! Talk to me." his stern yet gentle voice sounded in your ear, and if you closed your eyes, you could imagine he was right beside you.
"Clint," you whined out, eyes blurring with thick tears, backing yourself against a wall. "It's bad… It's so bad." You slid down the wall until you were seated on the cold ground. "No, You're alright, just stay put." his voice came out shallow; you could tell he had been running. The soft, exhausted cry fell past your lips; your head snapped back against the wall, eyes fluttered shut. You couldn't handle the sight of your hands covered in your blood. "This can't be real." you choked out, shaking your head, but when you looked again, you were covered in blood and now so had the ground beneath you been. Your body felt numb, and you were sure that was scarier than feeling everything because the pain would remind you; that you were still here.
Kate was the first to reach you, her eyes wide, you'd been used to seeing her that way, but now it hadn't been from being incredibly flustered. Kate reached out for you, her hands gripping you tightly, but you still couldn't feel her. she wept, her eyes darting across your body, fingers holding tightly at the thin fabric. Kate wanted to help, but she wasn't sure how; she felt helpless, staring down at you as you slipped in and out. "You're okay. Just talk to me." her shaky fingers softly met your cheek, brushing away your faint tears, but all she had done was leave a trail of blood.
"We gotta get you home for Christmas." she hated how frightened you looked as you gazed up at her hopelessly. You couldn't find the words; it felt like your mind completely went empty; there was nothing; it was all quiet. All you could do was gently raise your trembling hand and settle it on her cheek, but even that was proven difficult when your hand fell against your chest. Your eyes fell closed despite her pleas for you to keep looking at her, her hand softly cradling your head against her chest, and she screamed for Clint to hurry, but everything became quiet for you.
--
Your fingers had been the first to move, lightly feeling the cool covers under you, and then you could feel the wiggle of your toes. Your eyebrows fluttered together in question before your eyes could even open; soft fingers found yours, cradling them with such care that you couldn't help but open your eyes. Your eyes hardly adjusted, but from the outline, you could tell it was Kate. She wore a beaming smile, although her eyes had been red and puffy; she barely looked like herself.
"That's the ugliest sweater I've ever seen." your voice had been hoarse, and only then did you realize how dry your throat felt. Kate returned a soft laugh, her gaze dropping to the Christmas sweater for only a moment before looking back at you. "I got you one."
"Oh, goodie!" Snapping your gaze away from her, you finally got a clear look at the room, overflooding with Christmas decorations; your heart fluttered. "I figured you'd want to celebrate it when you woke up," she explained. Kate knew she should probably get Clint, but she wanted to spend just a little longer alone with you. "Do you like it?" your eyes grew tearful, lips parting.
"I love it." your head settled on the soft pillow, looking up at the woman who still gazed at the room. When she looked back at you, her eyes flooded with tears; she wanted to apologize for getting you involved with her problems, but when her lips parted, all that came out was a shaky sob. "I don't know how I'll ever make it up to you." her voice had hardly been clear through her cries, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. Kate; herself hadn't looked too well with all the bruises that littered her skin.
"Katie, just come here." extending an arm, you allowed the woman to fall into you, her hand settling behind your head as yours found home on her back. She held you as fragile as possible, afraid that her action would harm you. When she pulled away, her gaze held nothing but sorrow, and you couldn't stand the sight, so you reached out, drawing the woman near until her lips met yours.
You might've not gotten the break you wanted, but you found Kate, and that counted for something.
