Rip to the three part Sicario fic that hasn’t been touched since 2020 that I just had the most visceral reaction over. It ended on a cliff hanger and looks like it was just abandoned but it was genuinely a good fic. Well written. Left an absolute ache in my stomach.

My analysis of the Sicario ending: (Spoilers)

When Alejandro shoots Kate after taking Silvio hostage, he tells her "don't ever point a weapon at me again." That didnt come across to me as him being angry, it felt more pragmatic, more like "Just speaking facts, if you try that again, you will not survive." The next day when Alejandro leaves Kate's apartment, after having just told her "You are not a wolf, and this is the land of wolves now", she aims a gun at him again. And he doesnt retaliate or do anything to stop it, he just accepts it. He didnt necessarily mean her body wouldnt survive aiming at him, but rather her soul.

He tells her right before the convoy, "nothing will make sense to you[...], and you will doubt everything we do, but in the end you will understand". After everything Kate's been through, her putting the gun down isnt her finally understanding, it's a rejection of that message. To understand him, she would have to become him, a wolf, and kill him. But she doesn't shoot him, and shes all the stronger for it.

A cigarette smolders in Kate's trembling hands, despite the fact that she has quit smoking. Somehow, fate still finds ways to bring back Macer's old habits that are going to get her to the grave.

It's been a long time since anyone touched her. Therefore, as soon as Alejandro's hand touches her shoulder, she flinches. By surprise, probably. Although, controlling herself when he is around is especially difficult. Her own body betrays her. And yet, his touch doesn't awake any fear. On the contrary, it helps her to calm down. How strange. At this moment, she realizes that Alejandro's hands, which have ended many lives, are capable of not only killing, but also of... Tenderness.

That word...

"Tenderness" is completely inapplicable to a person like him.

She gives Alejandro a wary look from her gray eyes. It seems that she wants to say something now, but instead of words, Gillick is met only by a sad smile.

Looking away, she gently covers his hand with hers and Kate is surprised to find out that it's warm. The blood flows in the veins of the one whom she considered a monster for so long only for her to realize that her nightmare is actually an ordinary living being.

Just like her.
