In high school, I had to attend mandated abstinence only health class separated by sex, but the administration in their stupidity, gave our female class a male teacher. He once refused to let someone use the restroom despite them saying they'd started their period.

"I can't stand when girls use that as an excuse."

The entire class jumped to their defense, loudly describing periods in graphic detail until he finally capitulated. A few of us also threw tampons at him.

I was thinking about that today and started writing a post joking about how most of the time I consider my period to be fairly annoying but if a cis man says they're gross I'd loudly express my gratitude for such a sacred cycle and this power to bring forth new life.

Then I realized that's the exact kind of thing terfs would pick up on and the last thing I want is to feed those particular gremlins.

The truth is there's nothing wrong with celebrating or connecting to your biological sex. Especially if you were brought up to be ashamed of your periods, especially if you were brought up in a culture that repressed your sexuality or sexual behavior.

There's also nothing wrong with connecting to others through biological sex. Like my classmates getting even with our teacher or people supporting each other through pregnancy and childbirth.

The problem is when you make menstruation inextricable from womanhood. In doing so, you not only invalidate trans women but are reducing people to their reproductive organs, their capacity to have biological children.

Another common thing I see is people defining women as "adult human females" and making menstruation a marker of that, of sexual maturity.

I was 11 when I got my period for the first time. I was undeniably a child. Yet others insisted I was now a "woman". It was incredibly scary, especially since it wasn't something I could talk about freely.

Not every woman shares that experience. Not every woman is capable of bearing children, in small part because not every woman is female.

I feel like terfs have forgotten the "girl code". If another girl asks you for help, you defend them. If you see a girl being harassed, you don't check their chromosomes before you protect them.

Trans women are not the enemy of cis women.

Trans women are not the enemy of females.

Trans women are women. But more importantly, trans women are people. Deserving of respect, of safety, and joy. No exceptions, no excuses.

So I have just adopted a brand new kitty cat, today I left him alone for the first time. I had a class, so I rode the bus down to campus, and came back about two hours later, and came back to find a note from my apartment unit’s handyman stating that he has finally fixed the broken floorboard and bedroom door that closes weird. Also, no kitty. My son has disappeared. So I’m tearing apart the apartment looking for my furry son, half-convinced the handyman has let him out and he is roaming free in the wilds of central illinois.

and I hear the worlds tiniest meow

coming from the couch cushions.

Hey everyone, so recently I got an apartment for university since my school is raising tuition so much that it's cheaper (not by much) to rent than live in residence. Because I had to move back home, I'm currently out of a job and it's becoming impossible to find one in my hometown.

We (my roomate and I) tried to find a cheaper place, but due to where we live only having a 1% housing vacancy, we both still have to pay over 1,000 a month EACH (everything included). The reason this is so high is because of the lack of housing, which is pushing the city into a housing crisis. This was the cheapest option too! We still have to pay this over the summer since we didn't expect to get a place after searching for nearly 4 months this soon and it's already extremely difficult to find one and I am struggling to do so because of being unemployed. I wouldn't be posting this if it wasn't dire.

If you can help in any way, it would mean the absolute world to me! I'll be doing writing commissions which I have listed below with ranges as a major thank you with your favorite character (just lmk who)!

So my mom comes back from Walmart with an eyeshadow palette for me because...

"I looked at it and I just knew you'd love it!"

And she gives me this palette full of the most beautiful shimmering shades of gold and bronze and champagne and it just looks like a sunset.

I'm taking a critically important exam in less than three days. I've been preparing for it for the past year, it costs $400 USD to even attempt, and passing it would radically change my life for the better.

So seeing those beautiful sunny shades, I got the feeling that this was Apollo's way of confirming that He is going to be with me, just as He has through the past year of confusion, heartbreak, self doubt, and hopelessness.

The Champion of Light will be with me as I fight this battle I've been working towards for so long. I can't wait to sing with Him in victory, to reflect His light in joy that can't be dimmed.

I'm just continually blown away by His presence and love. 💛
