some photos from my visit to austin last weekend! i went to see my sister but got to spend a whole day with one of my best friends <3
he’s a park ranger for the city so he took me to his favorite spots for kayaking, right on lady bird lake and through barton creek. we got to pass under the bridges where the river cuts through the city, and then we jumped into barton springs pool and it was FREEZING. lovely weather for april, however the water was shockingly cold, as always. then we laid out on the lawn & tanned & warmed up.
he took me to breakfast before the day’s events and i had eggs benedict florentine & coffee (though i was missing Summer Moon). then for lunch we found this place on the east side of town that sold barbecue by the pound, & since i always crave barbecue when we’re in the hill country, we had to go. the fried pickles + baked mac n cheese + austin cider is what sold me!! i’m dying to go back!
& of course i had to throw in a bluebonnets photo!! it’s wildflower season in texas, which means bluebonnets galore flooding the fields along the highways and in every grassy patch of land you can think of. always makes me smile and reminds me of childhood when we’d celebrate Texas History Month in school every March. <3
