replaying okami with some knowledge of japanese sure is a treat. yeah the pretty place where you get the nature technique is called blooming flower valley. kamiki village? kami-ki? god-tree? come ON. kusa village? grass? sure. doesn’t make perfect sense in the story but good enough. apparently it can also mean rot which is somewhat better. kazegami… the celestial brush god of wind… take a guess. demon stronghold is called oni island cuz why think of something fancy. the ultimate ruler of darkness’s name is darkness. fantastic

#i could go on all day but. yeah #okami #i also am increasingly proud of myself for being able to recognize certain kanji as they flash on screen #most of them last at least a couple of seconds anyway but some of these are genuinely just for a split second

the winter had greeted the land and somehow the coldness of the weather prompted the sun goddess to think of only one person. he who resembled the winter sun would have already sensed her coming back from her journey. small bell upon the door of the bookstore made a soft jingle, followed by the red-streaked white fur that slipped through the ajar door.

spotting him behind the counter, the sun wolf went to coil her colder, furry form around him, allowing his light and warmth to melt away that freezing air she braved through on her way back, before body slowly transformed into that of human. a trick that he taught her to master. amaterasu wrapped her arms around his being, nuzzling her face right into his chest as wolf ears folded back to her hair and fluffy tail coiled around them both protectively so.

" i'm home, shin. " he was her home, after all.

The Sun God could only smile as she tried to burrow into his skin, cold though she was. It would take him hardly a moment to have the door shut, and the heat turned up. He may be a heater himself, but she was sure to make him cold and he would rather them both be comfortable rather than sacrifice one for the other.

Amaterasu's travels were often long, and while he was happy to stay in one place, he knew better than most that she was about as difficult to pin down as the wind god was. Kazegami was definitely not one he preferred to be in his shop, but it was hard for Shiranui to say no to his counterpart.

Warm hands came around to hold her around her back, burying his face into her hair and sighing. Cool though she was, there was no denying the sense of calm that he felt just by having her back there with him.

Ah you live! Are you officially back?

    “Hmm... “Officially” back, huh? Hard to say, if I’m being honest. There’s a lot going on in the world, as I imagine...everyone knows. It means even a kami such as I has a lot on their plate. We worry for you all, you know.

    “I think the better way to put it is I want to be here more, so I will try to be. It does bring me happiness to be here, as I’m sure it also gives some people no small amount of joy to interact with me like this, as well. I do like being here! Though to be as wandering as the wind... Well, Kazegami got it from somewhere, didn’t he?”

Nuregami is a snake in water flask and she gives us the power of Waterspout.

Kazegami is the god of wind and also a horse. We can control the wind with Galestorm.

Moegami look like a Phoenix but actually a rooster. He teaches us Inferno.

Restoration of a watercolor picture I made back in 2017. I actually started this two years ago, but only now that I got to sit and play some videogames, I remembered I had this, so I decided to take some time now to finish it at last.

    Well, a break’s finally been had... Maybe a nice little shopping trip would do. Home once more, comfortably within Sei’an. Ryuunosuke had gone off not too far- still within eyeshot- and admiring weaponry. Shiori, herself, had ended up at a boutique.

    Spring’s rolling in, so while she’ll eventually need to hole up at home while the sickness rides in... At least for now, she gets to admire lovely clothes, obi, and trinkets. One of which especially catches her eye...

    A bracelet, with stones that shimmer like fire. They contrast so nicely with complimentary green stones, that remind her of grass at their peak; almost a metallic emerald when blown by Kazegami’s winds...and a cute cherry blossom pendant, carefully hand crafted. (Oh, she can tell. Impossibly tiny flaws her eyes are sharp enough to catch...)

    “Oh, that one, miss? You have such a good eye!” Shiori nearly jumps out of her own body at the sound of the shopkeep’s words, face now burning red and at a loss for words. “Would you like to purchase it?”

    Her eyes glance down to the price. It’s...pretty high... Something she can afford, but will damper in things she can do in the mortal realm for a long while. ‘Less she feels like asking Amaterasu for more money...

   “Y-Yes, actually... I-I would.” Darn impulsive purchase-! But more than that... Darn that strange girl from before, who put a crack into the otherwise tall walls that Shiori worked so hard to keep up.
