Today's polish is bananas shifty! The colors in the multichrome base aren't quite as saturated as I'd like but the shiftiness makes up for it. The flakes add an interesting contrast too. My only complaint is the flakes made the polish look a little lumpy even after I had smoothed everything out with topcoat. This is Follow Your Art from KBShimmer.

💅🏻 ~Manicure Monday~ 💅🏻

Hi everyone! It wouldn’t be the week of Valentine’s Day without painting my nails. I started out by putting on Aphrodite’s Pink Nightie from the OPI Greek Isles Collection. It came out in the spring of 2004, which was right before I graduated from high school. Let’s not think about the facts that that was twenty years ago and that my reunion is coming up this summer, please!

This color is a soft medium pink that appears pearly and slightly shimmery. It does show some brushstrokes, which can make it look streaky especially if you have a lot of ridges in your nails. It was fully opaque after one coat, but I added a second one to cover up some of the blemishes I made the first time. I bought it ten years ago, but the quality is still just as good as if I had bought it ten days ago. I guess I got my money’s worth! Good thing too, because OPI is expensive – about $10 a bottle. The first time I ever wore this color, I remember texting to a friend that “My nail polish looks like frosting and I want to eat it.” I stand by that statement! lol. This is a great hue for spring and early summer, and I’ve worn it on my toenails multiple times.

I am also wearing a topper called Candy Cane Crush by KBShimmer, which contains red and white sparkles. I’ve worn it on top of white and red for Valentine’s Day before, but the white ones don’t show up on a white background and the red ones don’t show up on a red background, so this time you can see both colors! Not only does the pink still look like frosting underneath, but the glitter makes it look like strawberry shortcake!

I thought of this color combination right after I did my nails LAST Valentine’s Day, so I’ve been waiting a year to try it! I am very satisfied with how it looks and pleased with how my nails came out.

Today's polish was surprising! I love it when polishes surprise me. 🥰 I bought this polish knowing it was a green shimmer topper, but I didn't realize it had such a gorgeous purple shift to it! This is KBShimmer's In Good Spirits over one coat of Holo Taco's One Coat Black. And I don't think I've said it here before: One Coat Black is an absolutely fantastic, completely opaque black cream polish that I cannot recommend enough.

i made an insta story (reaching out to the community) about hunting for a hot pink holo. here are some of my finalists, if you're interested: a england dracula. i think this is too dark and muted for what i'm looking for, but i may have convinced myself that because i didn't think i'd be able to get it but now i see they have it at beautometry... f.u.n has some incredible glitters which are not what i want but enticing me. the magenta one is too dark, the lighter pink one isn't what i want for this prompt but wheeeeeew opi teenage dream!!

ilnp has several options that don't feel right--bouquet toss and paige are too light, play date is too warm, bikini bottoms is too dark and not holo enough, too many options over there, high risk

kbshimmer might be my second choice but it seems more pale in some swatches, which is just a problem i have with holos anyway

i scream holorama is MAGNIFICENT but i know a neon can't really accomplish the holo i'm looking for. i'm gonna do a true neon mani to quench this urge. would love to buy from them!

I was drawn into starrily because I also need a holo glitter topcoat and theirs (a collab with a swatcher I like) is the one that I think I want most. (though the more i look at it--i think i want something chunky!) their gamma ray is straight perfect but I'm worried about not having seen enough swatches to really judge. also, they are one of the most expensive. their chunky pink holo glitter is like a combination of all of my all time favorite polishes and their opaque teenage dream thing is so good.. which leaves me with holo taco. hot wire pink is the safest bet, widely swatched, good reviews, i think exactly the color i want. but i wanted to do a true indie... i don't really like any of her holo topcoats for what i'm looking for but i could use the opportunity to get a new glass file. plus the prices have come down...

Hi everyone! I usually paint my nails red at Christmastime, but this year I decided to paint them green so I could wear my red and white sparkles on top. I’ll save my red for Valentine’s Day. This is the green I always wear on St. Patrick’s Day, and it’s perfect for Christmas too! It’s called Emerald City from the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. I went outside in the 12-degree temperature to take pictures of the green by itself, but it was cloudy so these are the best pictures I could get. It’s a lot prettier in the sunlight, but the sun doesn’t come out much at this time of year.

Then I put a layer of Candy Cane Crush by KBShimmer on top. It has a clear base with different-sized red and white hexagonal flakes. I’ve worn it for Valentine’s Day and Fourth of July before. A lot of the bigger glitter came out at first, but then I had to fish around for them. I discovered that if I put the top back on and turned the bottle upside down, it was easier to find the bigger sparkles when they floated back up to the top. When they settled again, I did the same thing until I had enough on each nail. It was pretty easy to distribute them evenly by moving the brush around to get each flake where I wanted it. Another special thing about this polish is that it’s scented! After it dries, it smells like peppermint for a day or two. Luckily, the sun actually did come out when I was done so I ran outside and managed to catch a few slivers of it!

I’ve wanted to try this color combination for a long time, and I’m glad I finally did. I think it looks very pretty. It’ll be hard to top this next year! Merry Christmas!
