Headcanon:

Riza Hawkeye has driving lessons post-Ishval.

Growing up she didn’t have the chance because there was no car in the family, and when she was a cadet she was happy to walk or take public transport. When she’s Roy’s aide/bodyguard she realises that they’re going to need to travel securely, and so she takes lessons - but immediately feels that they’re inadequate for the manoeuvres she’ll need in the course of her duties, and so she tops it off with defensive driving lessons so that she knows how to drive at full-speed in reverse if she needs to get the team out of a dangerous situation. She can change directions on a dime, evade moving targets (pedestrians) and knows the safest way to crash the car if there’s no way to prevent a collision.

She is utterly confident in her abilities as a driver, because she knows she has fulfilled the many requirements of the course.

Roy insists on driving sometimes, because he learned how to drive on these streets in Central and he knows them like the back of his hand. She cannot count the number of times he’s accidentally mounted the curb because he got distracted.
