16 year olds stop pretending to/self diagnosing themselves with DID for attention challenge: failed

you know, I wanted to delete this ask because as per usual, you’re a sad little anon who has fun harassing traumatized kids on the internet. but, let me give you an actual answer. (and also the reason I will be disabling anon asks for all of my blogs.) I get tons of asks like these, but for anyone who would want to send me another ask like this, here you go. self-diagnosis is an incredibly important thing. I’ve poured hours of research into DID, which is a disorder that takes years to diagnose, and is often misdiagnosed by professionals, or completely thrown out of the window as a “fake disorder”. you might not want to have an official diagnosis anyway, because of all of the downsides that have on your rights to marry, get jobs, etc. self-diagnosed children and adults are not less valid than those that have a diagnosis. some people can’t go visit a professional who would diagnose them, or don’t have money (like myself), or have been misdiagnosed and shunned down by the people who are supposed to help so many times they do not trust professionals anymore, and rather rely on their own research and knowledge of a topic. most of the time, poor people can’t afford to even visit a therapist. fake-claiming DID/OSDD systems and any mental disorder is classist. self-diagnosis is an important thing to STOP demonizing. thousands of people live in anxiety and are incredibly inconvenienced every single day because they’re afraid to ask for resources or help if they are self-diagnosed. I am not “pretending” or “faking”. that would be a conscious choice. many times, in fact, I wish I wasn’t a part of a system, but I am, and at this point in my life, I can’t do anything about it. maybe, just maybe, instead of being a shitty fucking asshole ableist, you could do some research (because I doubt you did more research on self-diagnosis and dissociative disorders than me) and stop sending disgusting asks like this to children, who don’t harm anyone with funny posts about loving their friends. my age does not make my self-diagnosis any less valid than an adult’s would, and I did not specifically say ANYWHERE on any of my blogs, that we were self-diagnosed in the first place, so the only reason you had behind sending this vile ask was... to bully mentally ill children struggling incredibly in their lives, trying to find some love and friendship on the internet...? Tell your mom what you do in your spare time. Tell your boss. “I bully children who are mentally ill anonymously on the internet.” See how far that would get you, you ableist piece of shit.

TLDR; Self-diagnosis, especially among children who do their research, is valid and should be supported instead of being demonized.

just a little guy ok? hes a model and he really likes lemon ice cream. he straightens his hair and burns his fingers every time . he does not learn. he has to take his bracelets off when he wants to write because he cant rest his goddamned arm. sometimes he’ll be an hour late somewhere because he has to get his eyeliner right. hes nonbinary, hovergender and bi <3 he doesnt like dyeing his hair much because he has a sensitive scalp so more often than not you’ll see him with his hair grown out a bit. he owns four rats and a dog, named poggers. he also gives very good hugs and often forgets about his spiky choker and bracelets so whoever he’s hugging gets a little prick. (they usually laugh it off though)

hes trying to learn how to skate but cant pop an ollie to save his life. no he wont wear a helmet because he thinks it makes him look dumb.
