It was announced to the public that Yuhon’s death was a tragic accident, and considering the location of the incident according to Keishuk’s memory, the announcement should have been something like “The war hero died having fallen off a cliff~” and Soowon probably heard that “official” version millions of times due to his father’s renown…

And y’know when else he heard that someone close to him died falling off a cliff?

Sen actually posting art no way??? I wanted to post the Keishuk doodle I had from 2021 cuz I might as well start posting them. You can tell it's my old art because I started using weighted inky brushes instead from 2022 onwards

Keishuk and Suwon are my fave AkaYona characters. I like drawing chibis to test the waters when I’m first drawing my faves cuz it helps to simplify their designs and identify the main shapes.

I put the rest under the cut as usual!

Keishuk is neat tbh. Serious stoic aloof boy with cat energy and gap moe... Keishuk asserts himself as the doting big brother of the Coup Crew

I think it's cute how he takes care of his duties in his own way. His (=-=) expressions, his dialogue, everything... He's so entertaining omg and his design is so pretty

I love how my recent faves are just Knife Cat Adjacent. I love them so much. Anime Keishuk gives me more knife cat energy but his smirk in Ch. 160 is just. Prime Knife Cat Energy. He makes cute scrunchy faces.

Aloof and stoic, emotionally repressed, quiet, ambitious and serious... I enjoy characters who are calm and stoic pragmatists who's been downtrodden and now turned pessimist due to circumstances outside of their control

It's so funny because Keishuk isn't an evil advisor at all, he's just a Guy LMAO. A guy with a job and priorities

I can't stop laughing at Keishuk's reaction to what happened to Suuwon. His reaction is funny, remember how you encouraged Suuwon to kill Yona when she found out what happened? Karma is fair, it will always come back, and now howl in despair at what happened to Suuwon.

While Shinah is in dragon form the devouring illusions are stronger because it seems everyone can see them, not just the target. Even though everyone saw Keishuk get attacked, it wasn't outwardly apparent that he had "bitten" his leg off.

What makes Suwon's situation different is that he was actually physically lifted off the ground. So aside from having his head, like, "spiritually" gone for the moment, he fell from an undetermined height as well. I'm more worried about that.

Ngl, I feel so bad for Kyeshuk after this chapter. I'm obviously sad for Suwon, he's my bby, the reason I started to read the manga and the reason I'm still reading it, but Kyeshuk? Tbh I'm not the biggest Kyeshuk stan(not that I hate him again-mind you, I like him,but I'm not his biggest fan or smth), but I felt so bad for him yesterday, he lost someone he cared for once again, right in front of his eyes, and to make things worse he was the one who ordered everyone to not hurt the blue dragon in any way, because he believed that he was supporting and helping their country(and suwon) in his own way, but now there's a possibility that Suwon died because of his actions, right in front of him, he has failed yet another person he was supposed to protect.

Dear anon,

As far as I know nothing changed about his characterization, so I feel he is a disappointment.

Just try to think about his perspective, try to put yourself in his shoes. You were saved by Yuhon and as many people, you would probably feel strongly about person who saved your life.

You have been watching your saviour die from the hands of Il and for years you have been close to his son who turned out to be intelligent and studious, showing himself to be a good ruler material.

Now Yona, you don't know Yona personally. You know she is the daughter of the king who killed the person who saved you. And although you don't know Yona personally, you hear gossips from the palace. I remind you that Min-soo admitted that he knew Keishuk and was telling stuff to him. So you are Keishuk and from this gossip you learn that Yona is a spoiled princess, you most likely know that Yona is in love with Soo-won, but since her father killed the person who saved you may not necessarily be a great fan of Soo-won x Yona, but this depends.

Later you meet Yona and she turns out to have some knowledge about law, but you know that whatever she knows she must have picked up in the last few months after she escaped from the castle. Definitely she would not have the level of preparation that is close to what you have seen with Soo-won, with whom you are closer.

Anyway, the point is in Keishuk's situation would you think about replacing Soo-won with Yona? In my opinion it doesn't make sense.

I think it would make more sense for Keishuk to be super interested and invested in curing Soo-won, even to the point of asking or even begging Yona the Hiryuu reincarnation to end it. You may feel that by saving Soo-won you are in a way able to pay back Yuhon for saving you years ago.

I do not understand how singing praises for Yona makes sense from his perspective.

Chapter 249

I admit, I considered Jae ha´s death pointless -since there was literally no reason, why he should die like this?!- and anticlimatic. It was not a hugely emotional scene...There had been better and more hearth-wrenching parts in the story, when a death like this would have been at least not so senseless.

But I admit one more thing. I would have never guessed, that there is a death - if this was supposed to be his death and not just some arbitrary joke on the mangaka´s side- that is even more senseless, pointless and above else ridiculous!

What is the equivalent of a character suddenly falling in a black hole and disappearing in a fantasy story?

Easy...a dragon bites off your head...Suddenly and without any reason, while you yourself are just standing stupidly around.

I really hope that this is an illusion on Keishuk´s side and not the truth...or worse...

Soo Won ends up as a thing...the great and noble sword...being used by her in that way...What a horrible end for him, who had so long no real life...

help i typed up whole paragraphs and then my browser crashed and none of it got saved 😭 i won’t be stopped though!

My rating (1-10): if it ends the way i think (hope) it will 10/10 no notes perfect historical fantasy shoujo series <3 if it doesn’t i hope we all explode

My favourite character: predictable answer but yona really is THEE protagonist of all time. she’s such a vibrant character even before she begins her journey and seeing her grow throughout the series is just so !!!! she cares so much and is ready to do anything to protect everyone and she’s clever and kind of insane but also silly and i love her so much!! also honorable mention to my special little guy gija <3 i adore his relentless optimism and how No Rational Thoughts Only Emotions And Actions he is 99% of the time. also he’s just so relatable To Me when he’s in poor little guy mode. i adore the entire hhb though, and so so so many of the side characters. they’re all just so well-written, it’s impossible not to love them

My least favourite character: probably chagol, mostly bc i keep seeing theories about how he’s not really dead and blah blah blah (in the famous words of kesha) and i’m sick of it. he’s a good villain and while i believe kusanagi could pull off his resurrection well if she so chose, as a meinyan fan, i LIKE that her abuser died so unceremoniously. let him rot, i say! even if he does get resurrected he’ll always be Just Some Gross Loser Guy to me

The character I think I'd be friends with: gija :) we’d get along so well on account of The Neuroses and The Only Child-isms

The character I think I won't hit off with: keishuk doesn’t seem like someone who’d appreciate my whimsy tbh

My favourite episode/scene: (don’t say gijaeha love potion shenanigans don’t say gijaeha love potion shenanigans) trying to pick One Scene in a 40+ volume series pains me so i’m gonna cheat and pick five (in no particular order) :3 (1) this scene from ch 163. all the hakyona scenes are so fucking good but this one’s just so so so sweet and i think about it all the time

(2) yona getting the south kai envoys to admit to the shit they’ve been doing in kohka and then going “okie dokie now let’s get this meeting started shall we :)” she’s an icon and a legend <3 (3) gija in ch 252. absolutely devastating chapter and i need my guys back posthaste but OHHHH!!!!!!! i have so many thoughts about gija and monstrousness but i’m just gonna link to this post lest i go on too many tangents again…. (4) the hot springs chapter of course OF COURSE what kind of gijaeha enthusiast would i be if i didn’t bring that chapter up. (5) the “he’s stronger than i am” moment in ch 168. actually that whole battle scene Fucks Severely on so many levels but that!!!! line!!!!!! it makes me so crazy like. jaeha’s not just trying to stall for time, he genuinely thinks gija’s stronger than him (“from good morning to good night” bonus chapter) but like. looking at it purely physically they Are equals. but gija doesn’t hold back like jaeha does (ch 75, ch 170) and also it’s clear from the hot springs chapter that jaeha admires gija for not letting himself get shackled by his past (even though he’s Literally Being Haunted). also the moment right before that, when jaeha fucking. obliterates the bow of the soldier who tries to shoot gija (he’s doing SUCH a good job pretending that they’re enemies btw) is soooOOUGHHH like jaeha doesn’t get angry often but he’s FURIOUS in that moment and it’s so delicious (i think it’s the “let’s deliver him as a gift to lord kuelbo” part specifically that gets to him bc like gija can dodge one (1) arrow just fine without help but he risked the whole plan—) (getting vaudeville hooked off the stage) wait i lied :) (6) the blue forest mini arc is soooo good and so dear to me i HAVE to mention it!! it really showcases how caring sinha is + there’s also the lore drops about ghosts and the hakyona/gijaeha parallels, both of which make me wanna explode <3

Whose clothing style I like best: jaeha. the slutty little crop top wins by a landslide <3 i wish we got to see it more often (wistful sigh)

Times I watched it (and if I would again): once all the way through but i’ve reread parts of it many times for fic research and while theorizing. i definitely wanna reread the whole thing though, all the parallels and foreshadowing make it so perfect for rereads
