“You,” she said, winking at her friend and watching as her words cut off any protests as the girl, caught off guard, blushed.

“Elena, Jenna, Mason, Freema Agyeman, Stefan,” she added that last one to really piss off their eavesdropper.

Caroline rolled her eyes with a pout, but didn’t disagree with her, so that was a win for her.

“I know it’s late, but I just needed to tell you that you’re great.”

Nova blinked rapidly, looking down at the phone to check that it was actually the right number, and yup, that was Caroline Forbes, her best friend, drunk as fuck and calling her in the middle of the night.

Not that she had been asleep. Her eyes had been wide open and staring at her galaxy painted ceiling for the past hour.

"You're uh, pretty great too?” Nova replied quietly, confused by the call but warmed by the words as well.

She turned over on her side as her friend began what she hoped was an elaboration, and watched Merlin sleep, curled up on the other pillow, his fur all but an black hole on the white pillowcase.

"No, like, ugh, you’re my best friend, you’re just, the.. best. You’re always there for evvveryone, including, me. You.. always listen to me, sometimes it feels like you’re the.. only person who does. And. I know things have gotten super crazy but I thought that you needed to know that you’re great. An I love you.”

Nova pressed her lips onto her pillow to keep herself from interrupting the blonde’s big slurring speech, a big grin on face. This was all too sweet. She was going to tease the crap out of her in the morning.

Fuck, she was going to tease her now. “Aww, you sappy bitch,” she replied only when it seemed like the other girl was finished speaking.

Caroline groaned loudly, her voice coming across muffled for a second, before she heard her clearly say, ”Can’t you take a compliment like a normal human..witch? I hate you.”

Nova just laughed as quietly as she could so she wouldn’t disturb her feline Familiar. “Bullshit. I’m pretty sure you just waxed on and on about how you fucking love me.”

“Well I.. I take it back then!”

“Sorry I’m not accepting refunds at this time.”

She could hear the blonde sigh at her retort before abruptly bursting into drunken giggles.

Nova herself had hardly stopped smiling during the entire phone call, her cheeks hurt from how wide it was on her face.

“...my amazing sense of humor aside, I love you a lot Caroline Forbes, and I’m so glad that out all the universes in the world, I was lucky enough to be reborn in this universe with you in it.”

“...Ugh, that was really good! Like really good! I’m supposed to be complimenting you, not the other way around.”

Nova didn’t say anything, simply smiling as Caroline moved on and continued to talk about other things. She tried to stay up and listen to every drunken ramble, but sooner rather than later she dozed off.

rory is physically affectionate with people she cares about so once nova comes around she has to get used to hand holding and feeling rory lean against her or grabbing onto her clothes or arm

nova cooking for rory, rory baking for nova, both trying recipes together and accidentally making a mess because they got distracted
