Otabek Altin Carries Off Win at Nebelhorn Trophy
September 23, 2022
OBSTERDORF, GERMANY – Two-time Olympic medalist Otabek Altin of Kazakhstan won his season opener at the Nebelhorn Trophy. The 23-year-old scored a 99.89 for his short program. His free program score was 196.67, several points shy of Guang-hong de la Iglesia’s free score from last week. His overall score of 296.56 was good enough for gold here. “It’s not my best performance, but you don’t want it to be this early in the season,” said the two-time World Champion. “I’m good with where I’m at now, and I’m happy with my performance here.” Altin’s next event will be Skate America, the first Grand Prix event.
Four-time Japanese National Champion Kenjirou Minami won the silver here. He scored 95.85 for his short program, 193.75 for his free program and 285.68 for his overall score. “I really want to prove that I’m a contender,” said the 22-year-old, who was fourth at last season’s post-Olympic Worlds. “I think I did that here. It’s a great start to my season, and I’m looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish.” Minami’s next event will be Skate Canada, where he is up against the Leroy brothers – reigning Olympic Champion Jean-Jacques Leroy, and younger brother and rising star Louis Leroy.
Winning the bronze medal was 30-year-old Adam Arseanu of Canada. He was fifth after the short program with a score of 74.85, but was third in the free with a score of 170.89, bringing him up to win the bronze with a score of 245.74. “I’m happy with my free skate today. I feel like it was much improved after the short,” he told reporters. “This will be my final season, so I feel like this is a great start. I want to make the most of it, and hope to be chosen for the World and World Team Trophy teams before retiring.” Arsenau’s first Grand Prix event will be the Grand Prix de France.

Here’s my second fill for @rareshipsonbingo (Theme: Hot Drinks) and 18OI Bingober (Theme: Welcome To the Madness) on Discord, featuring Minami/Yuri. I hope you enjoy!
Summary:  Going into the Grand Prix Final, Kenijirou only saw Yuri Plisetsky as one of his idol’s biggest rivals...until Yuri’s surprise exhibition to “Welcome To The Madness” has him looking at the other Yuri in a different light. (FF.net)

I love when you edit your own works and you realize that something that has been in your story for ages perfectly matches an idea that you decided to implement recently. here's the one that I just discovered. This is a paragraph from one of my works:
"But scraping his way to the podium at Skate America had caught up to him hours ago. It shifted from bitter shock to suffocation, and now it wouldn’t go away. He had fought to keep the younger competitors at bay, finishing in fourth at the end of the short programs. He took third after the free skate, losing to Kenjirou Minami and Otabek Altin by more than twenty points. But third place wasn’t a win.  It was pathetic.  It was embarrassing."
This is from my first chapter of my first fic, and boy oh boy I love it. The sentence that is in bold perfectly contributes to this idea that I had about Seung-gil's parents. I had this idea in passing but that was a direct quote that I used when I was writing it down so I wouldn't forget it.
I love when creating happens and it feels as thought all signs point to it was simply meant to be
:)
