THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SUKUNA AND KENKAJU IS INSANELY SIMPLE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT FLEW OVER OUR HEADS!
I might mention spoilers so explanation under the cut.
We've been too busy on finding out the relationship between Sukuna and Yuji that we neglected to focus of Ryomen Sukuna's mythological origin alone. 😳
Ryomen Sukuna is an entity which actually originates from japanese lore, and depending on which lore he could be a demon commiting heinous crimes like in "Nihon Shoki", or could be a real life person who was in service for the emperor with a temple built in his (Sukuna's) honor in Japan's Gihu prefecture, or in an even more recent urban legend, was previously the source of a cult's power in his life time and eventually mummified and became a source of curses and disasters in his death. In the first two, Sukuna is depicted as a clever and powerful being with immense fighting skill. And in all three of these stories, they describe his appearance as having two faces, two pairs of arms, and two pairs of legs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two faces.
Two faces could also mean two heads, right? If that were the case, then that would also mean Ryomen Sukuna had to have two brains. But, if that were the case, what happened to the other one?
In the entire manga, we conveniently have just that-- a brain, possessing sorcerers with no body of its own, with his original identity unknown. KENKAJU!
Tumblr media
Yes, I'm implying that Kenkaju and Ryomen Sukuna are twins. And not your average twins but conjoined twins! I think this alone could explain his power since he is an anomaly even by jujutsu standards. Jujutsu gods might have pitied his existence or that he was simply a glitch that either way he was granted some sort of heavenly restriction, or I dont know, in his case, it might as well be called heavenly liberation as he is entirely blessed with both physical prowess and powerful sorcerery. More on this later, for now let's focus on Kenkaju and Ryomen Sukuna being twins.
Them being twins actually explains a lot! Like how Kenkaju got Sukuna to join the culling game for one. It was simply because Kenkaju was in it, and since in the JJK universe twins are one entity, what binds one, binds the other as well. Two, Kenkaju creating a perfect vessel for Sukuna in Yuji, he was Yuji's mom for crying out loud. What could yield a better compatability than him creating a vessel for himself. (Considering again that in the jjk universe Kenkaju and Ryomen Sukuna are one). It could even possibly hint at Kenkaju's end goal with the culling game only ending only with the condition of Geto Suguru and Megumi Fushiguro surviving (which is Kenkaju's plan of leaving only him and Sukuna alone) Another theory on this later.
Let's move on to the physical appearances of both:
1) Ryomen Sukuna from the lore had two faces. But Ryomen Sukuna from the anime simply has four eyes, i don't know about the nose, but the second mouth could be on Kenkaju, since he's practically just that, a brain with a mouth. But some could argue the fact that in the latest chapters of jjk where Sukuna begins to take his true form that shows us that he has a second huge mouth on his abdomen. So this theory doesn't hold water because of that.
2) Look at Sukuna's true form:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always wondered why one side of his face was is always drawn so askew. Following my theory, I think that's where the other face/ Kenkaju used to be.
That's about it for now. 😅

Valentines (Kenjaku x Mahito)
Fluff. Literally just fluff.
I have never crossposted my fanfiction onto tumblr, but I figure in spirit of Valentine’s Day I may as well share it here too. Posted under the same title on AO3. Anyway, just some Valentine's Day fluff for the other 5 other Kenjaku/Mahito enjoyers out there. 💌
Dagon rolled with the ebb and flow of the current. He would submerge into the water now and again—as he always did. Any sound he may have made was drowned out by the lapping of the waves against the shore.
Kenjaku, too, was left to his devices and lounged in one of the lawnchairs, reading a magazine without a care.
There was nothing in particular going on that day. Most of them had been out for the majority of the day, with the exception of Kenkaju and Dagon. Mahito had returned not long ago. Surprisingly, he hadn’t said hello, and instead quietly went and sat down on the sand not far from Kenjaku, facing toward the sea.
While always pleasant, the beach inside Horizon of The Captivating Skandha proved to be all the more rewarding during the winter. It was mid February, after all. Not that the colder weather made any difference to Mahito, weather elements hardly mattered to him–or to any of the other curses, really. But the sun always felt good.
Mahito lifted fistfuls of warm sand and watched it slip through his fingers.
“Geto, what’s Valentine’s Day?” He asked suddenly. “Hearing about that around?” He didn’t look up from his magazine. Mahito nodded but Kenjaku hadn’t seen it. “There’s a lot of people giving gifts. Treats. People seem happy,” Mahito said. “It vexes you, I’m sure.” “It does.”
Kenjaku lifted his head. “It’s when women give chocolates to the man they love.” “Oooh.” “And men reciprocate this on White Day.” “When’s that?” “A month later.”
Mahito mumbled meekly in thought. There was a moment’s peace before he shot up and twirled around.
“How ‘bout we do that?” He gleamed, lacing his hands together and teetering forward. “I’ll give you those chocolates.” “I didn’t think you’d want in on the fun.” Kenjaku replied casually. “Let’s do it.” Mahito urged. Kenjaku hummed sweetly, as if to consider it for a moment. “No.” Mahito’s hands fell and his posture drooped. “Why not?” He simply didn’t want to, but he didn’t say that. “Why would you like to celebrate a human holiday?” He proposed instead. “You’re not my keeper.” Mahito immediately deflected sullenly. Kenjaku snickered quietly enough that he couldn’t have heard.
Silence once again settled before it was again disrupted by Mahito. “Do you like chocolate?” “I do.” “Then I’ll get them for you.” “You needn’t.” Kenjaku didn’t need to see him to know he would have looked frustrated. Regardless, he stopped and peered at the curse, amused and satisfied. He looked back down and continued reading without so much as a word. Mahito watched him disappointedly before he spun back away from him and sank to the ground. He seemed to pout for a minute, hunched over. Then Kenjaku heard him hurl—sounding wet and vile like it usually did. Then he was fiddling something in his hands. Kenjaku could only wait in dreadful anticipation as to what kind of thing he was sculpting. He was working at it for a good while, which had at least allowed him to finish most of the magazine, skimming through all of the uninteresting bits. The distant fleshy and crackling sounds of Mahito’s construction finally came to a halt and Kenjaku listened to the kicking of sand as he approached and finally looked up as a shadow casted over him.
He extended a grotesque display of flowers in his hand.
“As a token of our—” he paused and his eyes wandered to the side in thought. “Companionship.” He fixed his eyes back at Kenjaku and lightly shook the bouquet, beckoning him to take it. He accepted it and admired it with a gentle expression, but Mahito couldn’t tell if he was pleased or unimpressed. Though they were fleshy and slightly deformed, he could recognize the flower he tried to imitate. “Tsubaki?” He asked. Mahito nodded. “Do you like them?” he chimed. Kenjaku smiled smugly. “I suppose they are in season.” Mahito scrunched his nose in a slight glower.
Some of them bore a mouth on one of its pedals—they gasped and wheezed quietly. Kenjaku assumed he’d given them mouths to keep them alive. One of them had an eyeball right in the center where the pedals came together. It had no eyelids and was bloodshot. It darted around before pinning its gaze onto him. Even with it lacking a face entirely, he could see its anguish.
They were well crafted, he could admit. Though a little misshapen. He rotated the flowers in his hand for another moment in careful consideration. “I like them.” He finally answered. Mahito gave a small and hushed giggle. Kenjaku turned and gently placed the bouquet of flesh and bone onto the sand just beside the chair. “Aw,” Mahito whined. “You’re not gonna hold it?” Kenjaku sighed pleasantly in response and settled back.
Mahito briefly hesitated before he leapt onto the lawn chair, plopping right down on Kenjaku's thighs. The whole chair was jostled by it and Kenjaku tried his best to mask his irritation, but his shoulders sank with a heavy sigh nonetheless. Mahito timidly wriggled further up his lap and leaned forward.
“Kiss me.” “No.” “So cold! Even after that lovely gift I made you?”
There was a pause.
“You think I owe you a kiss for it?” “Is that not how it works?” He gawked at him, his eyes innocently darted about, taking in every part of Kenjaku’s face before meeting with his eyes again. Kenjaku only smiled back with that oddly serene and somehow demeaning grin of his. With no further reaction, Mahito lifted his hand and tapped his lips with his finger. “On the mouth,” he instructed. “Choosy.” They sat quietly before Mahito leaned in closer–uncomfortably close. Their noses almost touched. Almost. It stayed this way for a bit. Mahito eyed him expectantly and eagerly. Kenjaku stared unflinchingly at the curse directly in front of him which breathed against his skin.
Mahito tilted his head and slided forward ever-so-slightly. Kenjaku remained rigid before Mahito finally closed the sliver of distance between them.
Naturally, he wasn’t a good kisser, but Kenjaku nevertheless reciprocated. It was short, but alarmingly gentle and tender. Kenjaku softly broke away and Mahito moved in to try once more but he only calmly retreated further from him. Mahito eyed him, disappointed and flippant. He leaned back and seated himself back on Kenjaku’s legs, unsatiated. “All I’m gonna get?” “Yup.”
Huffy, he hopped off from his lap. Now free, Kenjaku rested his hands across his stomach and crossed his legs. Mahito took the lounge chair just next to him and laid across it, turning his back to him. He peered over his shoulder. “I’m looking forward to White Day,” he said. “You better get something nice for me.” “Of course,” he lied. Naturally, he wasn’t going to. But Mahito isn’t one to forget about these things, either.

When Kenjaku and Mahito went to a gay bar: a head canon
What were the chances that fake Geto Suguru, a.k.a. Kenjaku, and Mahito visited a gay bar at the Shinjuku Nichome to “scout” their prospective humans to house the bodies of the Death Painting brothers?
Gege Akutami was more amused with his editors’ vehemence to subject one of his underage characters going to a pachinko.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, them editors were not particular with Eso’s vava-voom attire. True, there were no panels explaining/indicating that Mahito and Kenjaku had a sojourn to a BDSM club, but what could happen in the background?
I wonder if the human who took Kechizu’s fetus was one of the “customers”?
Tumblr media
Going back to Eso’s racy outfit, it is reminiscent of what the classic BDSM enthusiasts will wear, mostly gay men. (Apologies if I am stereotyping.) I wonder if the two evil creatures toyed with that idea. After all they both see that non-jujutsus as collateral damages and playthings. Or could it be Gege’s homage to JoJo’s Adventures characters like the others have suggested?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whatever it is, my head canon is that Kenkaju/fake Geto Suguru and Mahito, all swagger, amusedly selected their victims. After all, I believe that Kenjaku, as the “walking brain” which inhabits different bodies, doesn’t matter which gender (like Yuri’s “mom”), isn’t a stranger to kinky stuff.
So these two enter a room and a full-on sexual act of a threesome is about to happen. The three people are so startled they haven’t totally grasped what is happening. Next thing they know, all of them are forced to swallow the preserved 150-year-old fetuses of Choso, Eso, and Kechizu one after the other. However, Eso and Kechizu’s short lives are a mere testament how unfair the universe is.

Jujutsu Kaisen analysis episode 158
spoilers
Panda reveals that Yaga was killed, but he is not very specific about the conditions of that death. What it calls more the attention is his answer when the others are trying to say sorry for his lost. I think we must interpret this in consideration that Panda is not a human. In the fight against Mechamaru and his last meet with Gakuganji, he tries to separate himself from humans. What is the mean of this separation? I believe Panda has feelings but he is not attached or determinates by it how humans are. I will bring this quote from Vision in WandaVision that helps to understand the point: “But what is grief, if not love persevering”. Our feelings tend to remains inside and it’s stay even when situations changes, that feeling transmutes in a different one (love to sadness, love to hate). In Jujutsu Kaisen, the feeling that does not go away are transmute it negative feeling and create curse energy. Panda is able to feel but he is no attached to those feeling, which gives him more freedom to move on. What we saw is not Panda being apathic to Yaga’s death, but Panda being able to accept his death and let him go. Is also probably, he didn’t want others to worry for him, especially Yuji who is so determinate to feel guilty for everything. Poor baby.
Hakari proves to be a very nice guy. Of course, he is not like Yuji who is warm, innocent and kind. Hakari has his own ambition but that doesn’t mean that he won’t help his comrades. Even if he would try to take something in return, he would have helped anyways. He may be the “appearances are deceptive” type of character. We get to know him because of his incident with elders and others students’ opinions, then he is presented like a gangster who want to start a pyramid scheme, and we distrust on him. The idea of him manipulating Kirara is the result of this wrong perception. He may not be the typical “nice guy” but he has good feelings, like Kirara pointed. Probably he comes from a very nice non-sorcerer family, I assume this because his line “I haven’t been this bummed since Yakul got hit by an arrow in his butt”, this probably means he doesn’t come from a problematic environment. I believe he has a lovely parent who are distressed because he is just problematic.
He seemed to have a nice relationship with Gojo and Yaga.
Tumblr media
Megumi really is up to the top. He is doing amazing. He really has progressed a lot, he is not only stronger, he is also more thoughtful and strategic. He is becoming more similar to Satoru, because he is not only strong but also a very a smart fighter.
Megumi and Yuji’s dynamic. Megumi is taking the leadership in terms of their mission, elaborating strategies and making the decision. But in terms of their friendship, he is assuming the role of supporter. Yuji is very hurt; he barely keeps himself ongoing in his strong belief that he must keep going. Megumi is aware of this and he is keeping Yuji by his side, not only because he needs him, also because he is taking care of him. “Not your fault, out of your own will, we all failed” those are Megumi phrases to comfort Yuji and relief him a little from his great distress. Megumi has the words that Yuji needs to listen, the answer to the question “Why did you save me?”. In my analysis of Yuji, I pointed how for everyone Yuji’s death is out of the question, even for Satoru. But Megumi seems the only one who wants to Yuji to survive somehow. In Megumi is the chance to find the possibility to save Yuji from his fate. Beside if that chance exists or not, Yuji finds in Megumi someone who worth his life and that is very important for someone who only listen that he should be death.
Whatever if Megumi manages to save Yuji or not, he is giving him the comfort he needs to go through this hell. We really need Nobara back, she and Megumi are Yuji best supporters.
May the game accept Megumi new rules? Highly possible. He is switching rules by compensation. The rules to have kill the players who remains in 0 points can be removed if it’s compensated by the rules who allows players to leave the game by switching with non-players. It’s all depends in what the “master game” considerate more convenient, so its probably that the game requires stronger sorcerer to switch with those sorcerers who wants to leave the game. Megumi must considerate to have a powerful sorcerer outside the game to switch with Tsumiki when the times comes.
Since there is no technique to live forever young as Tengen and Kenkaju stablished, these sorcerer from 400 years ago and Uraume must being incarnated. Probably by a binding to Kenjaku. They must participate in the Culling Game in return for Kenjaku favor. Its clearer that Kenjaku gave birth to Yuji to incarnate Sukuna.

Before the jjk chapter 239 leaks drop, let me just share my current takes on:
1) Yuji's new source of power.
2) Yuji and Sukuna parallels (?).
1) Yuji ate his brothers.
But before we get into that, we have to discuss Yuji's ability.
I got this from an explanation vid on youtube. (I can't remember the channel though because I kinda just stumbled upon it, because let's be honest at some point we're gonna need help, jjk is complex read) It was a helpful video that explained how Yuji eating cursed objects worked/affected him. To summarize, Yuji acts like some sort of sponge, he absorbs the curse from the cursed object, and when he ate one of Sukuna's fingers he became his vessel, and eating other cursed objects after being Sukuna's vessel just negated any curse from said object because Sukuna being the strongest curse trumps its power. Hypothetically, if Yuji eats a cursed object with Sukuna no longer in him, he will finally be able to absorb the curse/ curse technique that object offers.
But, if you don't accept that explanation there's always chapter 220 where Yuji cites Shoko's explanation/observation that AFTER he becomes Sukuna's vessel is when he became able to absorb curses from cursed objects.
Actually, both explanations of how Yuji takes in new power are the same, just with timing difference of when this ability started. (Personally, i side with the video, that Yuji always had this ability and was the reason for him to be able to become a vessel in the first place)
Anyway back to chapter 220, after Yuji cites Shoko's take on his curse absorbing ability, he explains he'll eat anything (to be strong) and kill Sukuna. and Later in that same chapter we see a panel with a conversation between Yuji and Choso. Yuji is apologizing for Choso's brothers, which could easily be mistaken to be about Kechizu and Eso. But I think Choso had already been on Yuji's side long enough for them to talk that out and also, Choso replies "No problem as long as they live on inside you." I don't know about you but that clearly signifies him eating all the remaining curse womb death paintings to gain their cursed technique. Hence, chapter 239 where we see his newly acquired strength.
2) Yuji and Sukuna are both Cursed wombs
After chapter 143, where Yuta fake assasinates Yuji, Yuji sees a flashback of his mother with stitches on her head. This chapter is where we find out that Yuji really is Choso's brother and a Cursed womb: Death painting.
This is purely speculation on my part but hear me out, Sukuna is inexplicably powerful, the STRONGEST of his time. He was previously said to be a sorcerer that turned into a cursed spirit, or so the story goes. In chapter 237, During his fight with Gojo he revealed he was an unwanted child, Gojo in the next chapter also wanted to teach him love, because he believed Sukuna and himself were similar in their isolation in being the strongest, not being able to fully live normal lives like everyone else, even Yoruzu, the sorcerer possessing Tsumiki, wanted to Love sukuna (although hers was more of an unhealthy obsession to say the least) I think both got the reason behind Sukuna isolation wrong. Gojo thinks it's because of his power difference, but I believe it's because of Sukuna being a curse womb, half-human, half-cursed spirit.
As far back as in chapter 60, Kechizu tells the story of the orjgin story of the cursed womb death paintings. Loosely, there was a woman in the Meiji era that is able to conceive a half cursed spirit child and in the story she's ostracized by her community and so she asks for help from jujutsu sorcerers with the baby's corpse in hand. That's when Noritoshi Kamo aka Kenkaju gets a hold of her and performs experiments on her resulting into 9 pregnancies and 9 abortions. How does Sukuna fit into this story? I speculate he was the first child/corpse in the story, he either wasn't dead maybe the mother pretended he was dead to get him to safety, maybe he was dead and was brought back to life by Kenkaju, either way he was that unwanted child.
In chapter 116, where Sukuna finished off Jogo, they had an interesting conversation where Sukuna ended by praising Jogo stating that Jogo was strong, the acknowledgment and validation stirred up Jogo's emotions as he asks what it was he was feeling as he was brought to tears. This was an early indicator that Sukuna probably never experienced such emotions himself as he simply replied "Don't ask me, I don't know either." Further reinforcing the lack of connections and bond in Sukuna's life as an unwanted child.
I just also want to add that Sukuna has marks on his arms like those of Akaza from demon slayer, which has in fact a real practice in Japan where a thief is marked with a tattoo on the arms for each crime. I assumed he there was a time in Sukuna's life, based on this, when he was vulnerable enough for even mere humans to be able to punish him, but this could just be a stretch and those marks could mean nothing because in researching this I found that this practice started in the Edo period and was banned in the Meiji era which is when the death painting story takes place.
