i don't know if i'm going to articulate this properly but i've seen a lot of folk talking about how in kenobi part vi it was obi wan finally letting go that allowed him to see qui gon jinn again

but to me this wasn't quite it

when the series starts, obi wan is using his last mission from yoda as a way to avoid thinking about anything else. seems to me that by focusing all his efforts on protecting luke, obi wan was probably able to keep himself together enough to survive the aftermath of order 66. he cuts himself off from the force & gives up his life as a jedi to keep luke safe, but over time this became a crutch.

when bail comes to him for help, bail immediately calls bullshit on obi wan. when reva senses through the force that obi wan is in shock she uses vader to push him. even leia telling him he's too old & tired to be a jedi is part of it

each part of his journey obi wan is confronted with an element of the past he's been avoiding, but each time he does is a step to reclaiming himself.

by the end of the series, he is obi wan kenobi the jedi again. he confronts his loss, his failure & his guilt. he doesn't let it go but he embraces it & accepts it & gets back up to keep going.

this is truly a great story about working through trauma but also accepting your own mistakes so that they don't paralyse you

that's in my opinion why he could see qui gon at the end. obi wan has finally taken responsibility for all the things he could & confronted what he couldn't & in doing so became whole & connected to the force again

I was watching the Kenobi show, and he is riding on an English saddle?? Like, it doesn't even make sense to have an English saddle on a frame, there are far more effective ways to saddle an animal. Also, that looks like a camel shape, and that is not how camel saddles work. Wtf? Also, the stirrup is hanging from the billets, where the girth is supposed to attach the saddle to the horse.

This scene absolutely gutted me.

Obi-Wan faces Vader with the resolute decision that he will end him, but seeing his face without the mask - that glimpse of the man he used to know is enough to send him spiraling into guilt and tears for the brother he failed.

And Vader is usually so cold and ruthless in the words he chooses...but these words come out almost sad. They sound resigned. They're the words of a man who takes responsibility for everything he has done and will continue to do. There are all kinds of gaps in CC-2224’s world. The space next to his chair? A gap. The empty holster on his belt? A gap. Walking alone down the Destroyers hallways? A gap. It’s easier to measure what is missing instead of what is where it is meant to be. It hasn’t affected his functioning yet, so there is no reason to trouble command with the flaw in his system. And if he sometimes stops just outside of the ship's bridge, a sudden tension thrumming inside his chest at the thought of the wide, open space, and the brights lights of hyperspace, then he thinks he’s well afforded that moment, for all of the good work he does.

There are all kinds of gaps in CC-224’s world. The biggest ones all surround his general during the Clone Wars, the traitor. It feels as though someone has taken his memories and scribbled over them. Everything is clear but the man himself. But CC-2224 can still see how he effected his environment, how he affect him. He laughs sometimes, in these memories. More often, he grins at the spot where he should be, his eyes crinkled at the edges in a way he can’t help but try to mimic in the mirror. To no avail.

There are all kinds of gaps in CC-2224’s world. Darth Vader himself had explained these blanks to him one time. “Obi-Wan Kenobi has manipulated you more than most,” he said, voice thick through his helmet, “we had to do a deep wipe.” CC-2224 never calls him out on the lie, and never questions how he knows it is a lie.

There are all kinds of gaps in CC-2224’s world. And one day, years after the rise of the Empire, he’s ambushed during an attack on some forested planet, which was meant to be used as a mining facility. He wakes up on a medical cot inside of a rebel ship. He wakes up.
