Star Wars things, as a treat for me because I just applied for three more jobs
back when Kenobi first came out, I had an idea. and I never really finished the fic but I still think of that idea, so here it is
Obi-Wan survives A New Hope AU. Before Kenobi, I never really had a problem with his death because it was just the "elderly mentor dies as a motivator for our hero" trope. Yes, I love Obi-Wan. But that seemed like a logical point for his story arc to end.
But after watching Kenobi, I can imagine him thinking of the twins. Thinking of little spitfire Leia, who just lost her whole planet. Thinking about Luke, bright beacon in the Force that he is, struggling with the new emotions of grief and anger that came from the Empire murdering his aunt and uncle.
Obi-Wan loves both of those kids very much. And he's got to face Vader eventually, and he knows it'll kill him. But you know what? It doesn't have to be today. Today he can run a little faster, and not compound more loss onto what the twins have already experienced
(the fic primarily consists of highly improbable timing to get them out before Vader gets to the hangar, Obi-Wan instantly regretting his decision when Leia and Han start picking a fight, and me getting stuck when I went "hey wait Leia would be smart enough to not go straight back to the Rebel base, she'd insist on stopping somewhere else and checking for tracking devices")

au in which reva sticks around in Tatooine after the kenobi show events, and Luke ends up with a very scary big sister
she and kenobi have a sort of tense ceasefire going on but reva comes to deeply care about luke, especially as she sees herself in him- another child of the force wrecked by Vader
as a result Beru and Owen survive but are taken into hiding, leading Luke to believe they’re dead and ANH continues as normal
at some point Reva crashes the rebel party with family in tow
Luke’s not sure if he’s more scared of Reva and Leia having a rivalry or becoming friends

ok but for the kenobi show
The first scene we see the Dune Sea, the camera slowly turns to reveal kenobi, brooding, however the camera keeps moving and we see Purge Trooper Cody, armed with a shotgun and seething rage
Welcome to The Cody Show

the point of Kenobi is not to be objectively award-winningly good. the point of Kenobi is to watch a sopping wet depressed dog of a man learn how to hope again and it's VERY GOOD at achieving that goal

I don’t know if this counts as a hot take or not, but does anyone else feel that “Andor” is the geekiest of the four live-action Star Wars shows? I know that sounds strange since Andor is the most serious of the four and features the least cameos/easter eggs, but hear me out.
Mando, Boba, and Obi-Wan we’re definitely going for more of the nostalgia factor with the cameos and easter eggs. But Andor, because the show is so serious, feels like an actual exploration of the Star Wars universe. They actually took the time to explain the stuff that we would just see in the background, such as the mapping system, how civilians live on Coruscant, and the various factions of the Rebel Alliance. Also, the series managed to blend in aspects of the Prequel and the Original Trilogies in a way that feels natural. The show doesn’t call out stuff from either trilogy (“Hey look fans, it’s Mon Mothma! Clap that she’s here!”), they just treat the Star Wars universe as any other fictional universe.
I guess what I mean is that Mando, Boba, and Obi-Wan, at times, feel like they were written by an exec who wanted to cash in on people’s nostalgia for Star Wars, whereas Andor feels like it was written by a genuine fan who spent years developing the lore for the universe.
