Indonesian Diversity NYFW SS19 starred three designers; Vivi Zubedi, Kimberly Tandra, and Coreta Louise. The purpose of the multi-collection is to drive awareness to Indonesian culture and their home. The opening featured dancers

Vivi Zubedi

Vivi Zubedi’s NYFW SS19 Collection was inspired by the city of Marrakech. Vivi incorporated her inspiration for the city with Indonesian designs and sillouhettes. Her goal is to be a worldwide affordable luxury brand, yet hold true to her commitments with her customers needs. The designs were vibrant with floral touches and spirng colors; a great refreshing touch to her already breathtaking NYFW FW18 Winter Collection. My favorites being the bright yellow and classy silhouettes.

Suedeson by Kimberly Tandra

Suedeson’s NYFW SS19 Collection “Nucleus” collection comes from the designers own personal experiences in diverging into the world of Couture. The pieces take inspiration from different races and cultures. There is a juxtaposition at play where two seemingly diverse details are used in the same look. Delicate looks next to bold looks; leather with hand-sewn details. Headpieces, batik, oversized bell sleeves were also used. While the leather can be seen as bold, materials such as silk, cotton, and organza balanced the look out and brought it down to earth; grounded.

Coretta Louise

Coretta Louise’s NYFW SS19 Collection, “Tropical Haven”, informed the world that tasteful batik designs can be worn in an elegant and modern manner. The hand painted silk can be worn in both in the urban area or in the everyday life; bringing a little tasteful elegance to any place or situation. Handwoven silk, organza, and tafetta lined the runway this season in the vibrant colors of gold, maroon, terracotta, and midnight blues.

Fashion Hong Kong FW16 #Throwback #FBF - My First Season

My first season of fashion week… almost 3 years ago. Can you believe it? However, after all this time one of my favorite collections was from this very show. Originally these were shot for The Skinny NYC, however I wanted to start featuring some of the photos I’ve taken “way back when” on my blog right here for y’all.

At the time, I was a professional photographer, but I’ve learned a few tricks and improved along the way. I thought they were great at the time – ahhhhh what a noob. With the attainment of proper white balance mode on my camera, and the higher F stop, and the removal of my polarizer filter indoors (like whyyyyyy) – I’m a little bit better these days. But still, I struggle a little with my camera, the Canon 5D III, as it’s getting a tad dated and the autofocus points aren’t always accurate – which COMPLETELY saddens me when I got the PERFECT SHOT and thus… blurred. But nonetheless, my improvement over the years can be seen.. at least in my eyes lol.

I never wanted to take the typical type runway shots.. I wanted to go rogue.. go different.. and master that. Requires more work? Possibly, but for me I wanted my creativity shine. I wanted to make it my own and have a different set of photos compared to most photographers. So enough about the back story.. let me tell you what I actually like about Fashion Hong Kong HKTDC FW16.

It starts off with designers: LOOM LOOP, HARRISON WONG, and HIDY N.G.

LOOM LOOP

The Loom Loop FW18 Collection was EVERYTHING. My love for color and creativity: leggings, cool shoes, butterflies abound. My soul was screaming with joy. As some of you might know, or not, lol, is that I no longer attend shows that don’t inspire me. SEE POST:

Photographer Kensey Jean. I’m at the point where I’m taking back my power. I’ve been taken advantage of so many times over the years. This year, 2018, I decided that I will only take photos of what I want to photograph and edit and upload the photos that I want to upload.

Well, anyway, my soul was screaming with delight. It’s everything I could have wanted to see in this virtual reality (simulation theory anyone?). The bow-tie necklaces, the butterfly headpieces, and the outfit that looks like waves???? Yeah I’m getting a little too excited thinking about it. Unfortunately it’s been a while to attend another show of theirs, but I hear they might be back FW19 SO SCOREEEE.

Harrison Wong

Harrison Wong’s FW16 collection showed me what a dapper gentleman should look like. With the tappered pants, newsboy persona, Englishman by the sea look, sleek fedoras, and coats with prints that remind me of lighting bolts, and splashes of water.. what’s not to love?? There also was color; eggplant and egyptian blue, but COLOR. When most designers resort to the blacks, whites, and traditional minimalistic colors, I give props to the designers who reintroduce colors into the wardrobes of men and women. Reminds me of the Beatles.

HIDY N.G.

The biggest selling point in my humble opinion in HIDY N.G.’s NYFW FW16 Collection would be the subtle use of glitter, lace, sheer, feathers, and embezzlement in a typical minimalist color palette. I’m not sure of the exact era of influence, but it’s the time of working women with class and attractiveness. Of course that’s subjective. Perhaps you can tell me in the comment section below. The millinery styled hats with the veil… SPOT ON. Very much a European thing.. that I was surprised to see in Ireland when I last visited.

It’s always an honor to be amidst art that resonates with the soul. As per my previous posts I have mentioned, I have decided to become more selective as to which shows and designers I wish to cover and attend. F/FFFFFF did not fail to disappoint.

F/FFFFFF’s spring 2019 collection founded by Zac Zeng, awakened those childhood daydreams I had, but never realized I had forgotten. The colors are insanely vibrant and brought about reminisces of the 2000’s alien and space vibe trend.

I had a pair of midnight black iridescent glittered boots that I loved dearly as a child. I remember my feet outgrowing them but I loved them so much I would smash my toes into the shoes. Obviously, that didn’t last long. I never knew how much I had loved those shoes until I saw Zeng’s collection. The clothing styles and materials used (vinyl, awakened many fond memories and childhood dreams. In a world where people are encouraged to grow up and where abundantly bleak clothes exist, Zeng encourages us to grow up in style. The style that we once were allowed to bravely wear, and the dreams we once were allowed to dream.

You can be a space goddess if you wanted to, or wear space buns for a hairstyle. You can be a bug collector and observe nature, a (boy / girl) scout, a G.I. Joe Doll. You can even live your dream of being a chicken LOL. The collection gives us permission to live life the way we always envisioned it to be in a colorful and fun sort of way. It allows the child inside each one of us to feel alive once more as we strut down the sidewalks, spend time with our families, or maybe ,if you’re daring and or lucky enough, at our work. The collection gives permission to our inner kid and sets free our childish nature.

Vivi Zubedi’s designs adhere to being sleek, modest, and luxury.

Winter can be a boring and an uninspiring season for most. Often, it is the time of year where thing’s run slow, and fashion looks the same. Being drawn to the more colorful spectrum, I often see how often people wear very similar clothes – with plain black jackets. This is not always limited to the winter months, I see people wear similar, standard looks year round as well. Vivi Zubedi challenges the norm, by bringing more (colorful) blacks, and awe-inspiring looks that can brighten up anyone’s cold winter day.

I think the major difference with Zubedi’s FW18 collection is that even though there is a lot of pieces in the darker, black spectrum, she mixes it up with the style of the outfits, accessories and fabircs such as lace, beads, studs, embroidery, and a little bit of color; greens, whites, blacks, blues. Even the color-pop with lipstick. The looks are modest, yet colorful by design. I love the casual mix of sneakers and caps with ordinarily high-end luxury looks.

My favorite of all, is the navy blue piece that reminds me of midnight stars in a winter night’s sky.

“Vivi Zubedi is a fashion designer from Jakarta, Indonesia. Before working in fashion, Vivi graduated from Universitas Negeri Sumatra Utara (University of North Sumatera) with a degree in accounting. She soon realized that her passion was in the fashion industry, and started to learn how to sew and make clothing patterns from her tailor. In 2011, Vivi launched her first label using her own name “Vivi Zubedi”. Vivi first presented her collection at Indonesia Fashion Week in 2014 and received an incredible response from the fashion society in Indonesia. Ruby Fang has created some brilliantly strong female looks this season, NYFW SS19. Fabrics used such as tulle and satin each adhere to the feminine look. Fang also includes her knowledge of Chinese embroidery in her collection. Taking a closer look, many of the pieces include the Chinese traditional colors of reds, blacks, and gold embroidered threads. What makes Ruby Fang’s collection unique is the modernization of traditional and timeless clothing, the designs, colors, and her usage of shiny beads and sequins. Ruby Fang’s designs are classy, sexy, and strong.

Hello! I am Kensey Jean. I owe my friend Chandra (@chandralm) a lot of props for getting me on here; it was one of those intuitive nudges I’m sure many of you have had; when you know something is to be a part of your destiny and that you should jump on it. So I did – twice- thanks to her. First for joining Steemit and second for writing my intro!

I think sometimes it’s difficult to convey your soul story in a few simple words and sentences and expect people to see you as more than one thing. At least this seems to be where I’m at right now in my life. I’m a Photographer and Influencer, but I’m also many things contrary to the world wanting me to describe myself as only one thing I do. Am I a Photographer? Am I a Blogger? What one thing am I to the world? Can I say I’m a Prisim? I believe my soul runs much deeper than how I appear to others.

My other friend mentioned to me the other day that I represent a prism. And I feel that deeply in my soul; hence the name, “Prism of Soul” that I’m currently going along with on my social media handles. I like fashion, photography, art, philosophy, Asian culture, and spirituality. I want to combine them all because that’s what makes me who I am. I am not just one thing. I am multidimensional; a soul who is speaking her truth. I’d much rather be valued by my character than by my achievements or just the things I do… so I won’t bore you with the things i’ve done; perhaps its the humbleness in me, but i’ll let it speak for itself in the posts I write and let you decide.
