*grabby hands* more renaissance faire au (if you have any)
thank you! i drew this today because i’m having way too much fun thinking of terrible novelty t-shirts for smith:
sadly, i don’t have any more sketches right now.
i can dump some more AU details, though, if you like:
in my head, this ren faire is huge and operates year round. to keep it interesting, they have seasonally changing stories/concepts that guests can follow in the shows & events throughout the day. this means that sometimes trott wins, and sometimes he loses. sometimes he’s a cheat, and other times he murders the king to claim his blood-stained throne.
ross, trott, & smith have all worked at the faire for a couple years, but they didn't cross paths too much until recently. this is smith's first year with his own show (knife tricks & sword swallowing) and the end of trott's first year as one of the knights.
trott is an actor -- he does a lot of local theater and whatever other gigs he can find, which led him to the ren faire. the previous black knight was more conventionally big & brutish, but they decided to go a different direction after trott's audition. he was an instant guest favorite, and the faire wasted no time taking advantage with marketing & merchandising.
ross is in charge of creating the armor and leather work for the faire actors. he's often called to swap out/mend broken armor or fit new armor, which is how he & trott got to know each other.
when ross isn't helping with the costumes, he's in his workshop/vendor stall where smith comes to harass him. smith likes to wander the faire between his shows, and he met ross while nosing around one day.
smith & trott met through ross, though they obviously knew of each other before then. smith chooses to express his attraction to trott by going to his shows/jousting events and making an absolute nuisance of himself -- screaming, cheering, heckling the other knights. sometimes trott plays along by accepting favors from smith or tossing him gifts, mostly because he’s found that it’s the best way to shut smith up. normally he might complain, but playing off of smith is fun (if he’s honest with himself) and the crowd eats it up.
at this point, even the guests know about the sword swallower and the black knight. their flirting and bickering has nearly become a show of its own, and as it begins to creep into the stories marketed by the faire, the lines only become blurrier.
