Personal Style(Colours) + Astrology
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: My opinion👍
Fire signs:
Aries - Looks so good in beige, intense shades of red, dark blue, dark green, washed out yellow, Carnelian, they suit a laid back and chill style but also classy modern look. They suit Zara clothes a lot.
Leo- White, Jewel Tones, Classic Red, Orange, Yellow (Royal Royal Royal) anything that adds a touch of majesty.
Sagittarius- Red, Black, Charcoal grey, Colours which are a mix- indigo, turquoise etc, Copper… Very adventurous, motorbikes, leather jackets and all of that good stuff (80s vibe)
Water signs:
Cancer: Baby Pink, Baby Blue, a lot of Muted Colours look good on them too. I think When it comes to aesthetic, cancer is more fixated on hygiene rather than the little details.
Scorpio: Magenta, Maroon, darker shades in general , Silver. Maleficent vibes. HAHA (it’s true though, maleficent is so Plutonian) they look so good wearing outfits of one colour.
Pisces: white, most shades of blue, muted orange, salmon pink, look good with shimmery details too. Basically mermaid vibes. You want everything to seamlessly blend as if you were underwater.
Earth Signs:
Virgo: sage green, light yellow, caramel, light brown… very earthy colours for virgo. Simple clothes with no logos or details look super good too.
Capricorn: very solid colours, the basic colours on the colour wheel lol. Sophisticated styles very much so.
Taurus: They look good in classic colours, 1950s palette really suits them. They look very good mixing multiple colours from a classic palette/look
Air Signs:
Gemini: look super good in stripes, patterned shirts, clothes with patterns in general look super good. The influence of mercury here is making it hard for me to pin them down to specific shades. But I notice that 90s style can look super good on them and lean towards that unintentionally.
Aquarius: they look so good in ethereal colours, mixing ethereal colours with solid colours. Colours that remind you of the cosmos. ~Alien~
Libra: they look good in Y2K style very easily they gravitate towards that tbh, Barbie colours, very stereotypically feminine shades and colours… (basically most things) but in a way that stands out. NO washed out clothes/details. I think the muted colour that really suits them is beige.
I will be posting about Astrology& Personal Style on my YouTube Account too ;)

Touchstarved LI Kibbe Body Types
I am no expert on this topic, but I thought it was something I could do for fun.
Tumblr media
I think Kuras (my favorite) is a beautiful Dramatic -perhaps Soft Dramatic- due to his extremely long vertical line, gracious but sharp features, and a certain dryness we can appreciate around the collar bone area. Long hands... Chef kiss.
Tumblr media
I headcanon both Ais and Leander as Naturals -Leander could also be Soft Natural-. They both have that athletic upper body wideness, broad chests and muscular fleshiness.
Tumblr media
I think Vere is a Theatrical Romantic. His sharpness is combined with a softer bone structure and a shorter vertical line. I also have the feeling that is a category he would easily picture himself into.
Tumblr media
I headcanon Mhin as a Soft Gamin because of their youthful (almost childish) air, short vertical line. Soft features that, however, are not humble nor easily overpowered.

Romantic
Academia Fashion - Kibbe
The Romantic Kibbe body type is defined by curves. Romantics are petite, on the shorter side, and have a full hourglass figure, which should be emphasised through clothing. They suit rounded and soft, clothing with waist emphasis. V-necks, light colors, feminine ruffles, fitted shapes, soft fabrics, and high detail is very flattering.

Lana Del Rey: Kibbe Analysis
My one big issue with discussions of Kibbe IDs is how we seldom consider how these manifest in regular people with regular bodies. Every Kibbe ID has a certain "look" associated with them. SDs are presumed to be voluptuous, like the human incarnation of a fertility goddess, therefore people who are underweight/thin are automatically classified as something other than SD. verified FNs tend to be very thin and athletic so someone who is heavier is presumed to not be an FN. Most verified TRs are dead white women who were very very small so someone who is of average height with a more average build is perceived to be anything other than TR.
Since SN is the most common type, every woman with an average build is typed as one. This is especially true of those who have a heavier build, because weight gain, especially if its due to medication/health issues/binge eating etc can make anybody regardless of type, look "broad and bulky".
Lana has been in the limelight for over a decade at this point and her body has been under great scrutiny. She's a normal person whose weight fluctuates. Its important to understand that. Your Kibbe ID does not change with weight gain/loss. Kibbe is about image identity, that's not something that can be altered with plastic surgery or weight loss/gain; its who you are.
With that said, I believe Lana is a Flamboyant Natural.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lana has a naturally straight-ish frame with little waist definition. At a lower weight her body is more narrow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her hips and her bust do not break the line of her body, which is to say they are not very prominent through the clothes she wears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(im sorry Lana's head is cropped but I promise its Lana!!)
Compare Lana's chest to Selena's on the right. With weight gain, both of them have bigger chests but Selena (verified TR) has a chest that's naturally curved and prominent whereas Lana's chest is more broad and wide and not as pronounced.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its evident in these pictures how her body does not look "curvy", her bust and her hips are not prominent or pronounced, she has a "straight" frame. She is a Natural type. According to celebheights.com (this is the most accurate source for celebrity heights as celebs usually exaggerate their heights) Lana is 167cms or 5'6 but seems taller, she is not rounded or blunt and has obvious vertical. This is why she is Flamboyant Natural and not Soft Natural.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are all outfits that highlight her Romantic/Dramatic/Ethereal essence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All these light flowy fabrics look soooo good on her and her Kibbe ID & essences all seem to harmonize well.
Naturals have the frame to carry light flowy fabrics without looking shapeless or like they're carrying a sack. Its giving ✨goddess ✨
Soft, light weight fabrics like silk, satin and kind of loose, unstructured dresses work very well for Natural types.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These aren't very flattering looks on Lana because they emphasize width and dont accomodate her vertical. When she's in outfits that suit her ID & essence, she shines so much<333

What are your thoughts on the kibbe body type system? Any tips for a soft dramatic?
I think it's fairly baseless and outdated, honestly. The whole concept does really sound like what it is –  a mansplanation of women's body types and features. Personally, I believe the best way to understand your features is to determine the following traits for your personal body type, proportion, and facial structure:
Body shape (a fairly useful calculator is HERE). Some more information on the different body types can be found HERE. There are some caveats here that relate to bone structure (for example, I'm a "flat-chested hourglass" essentially – the bone structure is the same as an hourglass, but my fat/muscle distribution is different than the traditional hourglass, which is classified as by having a larger bust)
Determining your proportions (longer torso and shorter legs, shorter torso/legs, balanced proportions, etc.)
Understanding where your frame is widest (e.g. broad shoulders/hips. wide ribcage) vs. where you hold the most/least fat or muscle on your body (Knowing where you gain/lose weight first can also help you answer this question)
Figure out your face shape (I think this calculator offers a good jumping-off point, but I would read some articles about the subject to confirm your particular face shape. I got my face shape (triangle) on the second try, lol) and which features are most prominent/subdued on your face (e.g. big head/small head, big/small eyes – close together/farther apart, thin or thick lips, nose size/shape, brow shape/thickness, plumpness of cheeks/jawline definition)
Then, determine which clothes/accessories/hairstyles flatter your body type and face shape/size to "balance" your head-to-toe look. E.g. if you have a pear-shaped body with slender, long arms and a square-shaped face, consider wearing a loose cami with bootcut jeans with a large pendant necklace and a bouncy, layered lob to balance/flatter all of your proportions.
Hope this helps xx

Kibbe Body Types and Celebrities: a Beginner's Guide
Tumblr media
(Credit to: Aly Art)
David Kibbe, author of Metamorphosis, drew upon previous fashion systems to create his own Kibbe Body System, homing in on the yin-yang balance of the body and boiling his method down to the bare bones-- literally-- of the overall frame: length, width, height, and softness. Then, he divided each feature into two main categories:  the yin softness or the yang structure. The more “structure” a frame had, the more “visual weight” it presented; and the more “softness” it had, the less “visual weight” it presented.
At first, Kibbe sorted each frame into five main types with two additional subtypes. However, his system recently caught on fire with popularity, leading to vast misinterpretations or reinterpretations through over analysis and hyper fixation. Because of this, David updated his system (and is reworking on an updated version of his book), resifting his old designs into a simpler order.
This analysis will be working from the information I've gleaned mostly from Aly Art's channel here. She is incredible at stripping down each concept to its basics-- highly recommend. I also used Merriam Style’s channel for her body type test (here), which is an even more stripped version of Kibbe’s original body type quiz. (Aly's version of the quiz is here.)
**Note**: Kibbe Body Types are separate from the actual weight of an individual; and do not change with bodily fluctuations, changes, or even age. Example: Romantics will always appear softer compared to other body types their height or weight because of the “flesh” (natural padding of fat) over their muscles and bones, whereas Naturals will always appear more “mature” compared to older Gamines because of the visual weight of the bones (cheekbone, jawbone, etc.) in their face.
KIBBE BODY TYPES
Tumblr media
(Credit to: Aly Art)
**Note**: The Kibbe Body System is a complete overview of the entire frame, not just the face: two different people can share strikingly similar facial features yet have completely different bodies. It’s important to assess more than one facet.
If we were to place the Kibbe Body Types on a left to right scale, Dramatics have the most yang-- sharpness, length, elongation, structure-- and Romantics have the most yin-- shortness, roundness, softness. In the middle would sit the Classics-- a balanced mixture of yang structure and yin softness; mid-left would be Naturals (yang elongation with blunted width); and mid-right would be Gamines (an uneven mixture of yin and yang.)
DRAMATIC TYPES
Dramatics
Tumblr media
Dramatic Types have longer, angular, more narrow bones-- a vertical column, if you will-- that curve into points instead of “blunt” edges. They are moderate to tall (5’9"/173cm and up), and have prominent, straight, sleek features. If plus sized, they accumulate weight in their hips and upper thighs.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Sean Connery, Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Errol Flyn, Daniel Craig
Katherine Hepburn, Cate Blanchett, Angelica Huston,  Diane Carol, Faye Dunaway, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristen Wig, Maggie Smith, Taylor Swift
Soft Dramatics
Tumblr media
Soft Dramatic Types have more softness in their bust and hips, giving them a powerful voluptuousness (as opposed to the Romantic Types delicate pure yin.) They are moderate to tall (5’7”/170cm and up), with a moderate waist and fleshier facial features, arms, and hips. If plus sized, they get heavier on the fleshiest parts of the body: bust, hips, waist, thighs, upper arms, and the face.
Dean Martin, Christian Bale, Matthew McConoughy, John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, Clark Gable
Adele, Ann Bancroft, Ava Gardiner, Barbara Streisand, Kim Novak, Maria Callas, Mae West, Rachel Weiz, Rita Heyworth, Sofia Vergara, Sofia Loren
NATURAL TYPES
Naturals have longer, blunted, wider bones-- a T-shape, if you will-- that curve into blunts instead of angular or softened edges.
David Kibbe no longer believes in the pure Natural Type, placing clients or celebrities into either Flamboyant or Soft Natural.
Flamboyant Naturals
Tumblr media
Flamboyant Natural Types have a touch more structure: blunt, long, wide bones; wide, T-shaped shoulders; and a figure that narrows in a flat, straight line down their waist, hips, and legs. They are moderate to tall (5’11”/180cm and up), with features that are broad and angular, but not sharp. If plus sized, the body tends to become squarer.
Calvin Klein, Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Tom Sellack (maybe), Michael Landon (maybe), Joe Biden
Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway (had work done to disguise), Bea Arthur, Brooke Shields, Cameron Diaz, Carly Simon, Cindy Crawford (quintessential, imo), Emma Stone, Farah Faucett, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ingrid Bergma, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Lucille Ball, Linda Carter, Michelle Obama, Nicole Kidman, Katie Homes (probably), Princess Diana Spencer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tracey Ellis Ross, Uma Therman, LOTS of supermodels (broad shoulders, long and straight waist)
Soft Naturals
Tumblr media
Soft Natural have a softness to their long, blunt, wide bones, narrow hips. They are moderate to tall (5’5”/165cm and up), with smaller, rounder softness to their blunt facial features and frame. Their T-shape is less pronounced because of their more proportionate shoulders (in comparison to Flamboyant Naturals, at least.) If plus sized, SNs thicken in their upper arms, thighs, and hips.
Alan Alda, OJ Simpson, John Wayne, Robert Redford, Robert Conrad, Bing Crosby, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Gene Kelly, Brad Pit, Gene Hackman
Bette Grable, Carol Lombard, Chloe Sevigny, Doris Day (icon), Goldie Hahn, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Lopez, Julie Andrews, Kamala Harris, Kat Dennings, Katy Perry, Kim Bassinger, Marisa Tomay, Renee Zellweger, Sandra Bullock, Scarlet Johanson (had work done), Sissy Spacek
CLASSIC TYPES
Classics are an even mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are mid-height or tallish-- symmetrical angles or edges-- with a “balanced” appearance: their arms, waists, and legs are proportionate in length and width to their overall frame (not too angular, curved, or blunt); and can handle more visual weight than Romantics but less so than Dramatics or Naturals. They appear naturally polished; and often are dragged down by elements in their wardrobes that skew too much in any direction (appearing overwhelmed or overdone.)
Kibbe no longer promotes pure Classic Types, insisting that no person can be a perfect mixture and discouraging his clients or followers from trying to fit themselves into an impossible mold.
Dramatic Classics
Tumblr media
Dramatic Classic Types are an even mixture of yin and yang with just a touch more of yang’s structure, giving them either slightly sharper features, slightly longer limbs, or a bit less softness overall. Their height is moderate (5’5”-5’8”/166-172cm or thereabouts); and their figure and features are symmetrically squarish (more rectangular compared to Dramatics’ long and narrow vertical column and Naturals’ long and wide T-shape.) If plus sized, they gain weight in the hips and thighs (rarely around the bustline), becoming more pear-shaped overall.
Carey Grant, John Ham
Diana Rig, Gina Rollins, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, Jill Biden, Lana Turner, Olivia Munn, Phylicia Rashad
Soft Classics
Tumblr media
Soft Classic Types are a symmetrical mixture with just a touch more of yin’s softness, giving them either slightly softened features, slightly shorter and wider limbs, or slightly more “fleshiness” overall. Their height is moderate (5’5"-5'6”/164-169cm); and their features are slightly small and wide. If plus sized, SCs lose their waist definition and become fuller in the face.
John Slattery, John Glenn, Gregory Peck, Bryant Gumbel
Barbara Walters, Carolina Herrera, Donna Reed, Emma Thompson, Grace Kelly, Joan Fontaine, Kirsten Dunst (maybe), Marion Cotillard
GAMINE TYPES
Gamines are an uneven mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are usually short or rarely tall-- unsymmetrical angles or edges-- with a “youthful” appearance; and the mismatch of their skeletons give them an appearance of eternal youth instead of “womanly” or “mature” beauty. The endless combinations of their features-- long arms, short arms, long legs, short legs, long torso, short torsos, visual weight in the face, no visual weight in the face, etc. etc.-- thrive in the chaos of mismatching, color blocking, differing clothing silhouettes; and are often dragged down by too much polish or restriction.
David Kibbe no longer stands by the pure Gamine type, filtering people into either Theatrical or Soft Gamine.
Theatrical Gamines
Tumblr media
Theatrical Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yang than yin direction, giving them a broadly angular frame composed of shorter lines (compared to the Dramatics’ and Naturals’ long, angular, and broad lines.) They are moderate to short height (5’6”/168cm) with square, slightly wide features. Structure gives them very defined musculature-- ala Dramatics and Naturals-- and a longer, “leggier” look. If plus sized, TGs collect weight from the waist down, turning squarer or “stocky.”
Jimmy Kimmel, Frank Sinatra, Neil Patrick Harris
Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Debbie Allen, Gloria Vanderbilt, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Kelly Osborne, Liza Minelli, Lucy Liu, Penelope Cruz, Tina Turner, Twiggy, Zoey Deschenel
Soft Gamines
Tumblr media
Soft Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yin than yang direction. They are the short Gamines (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts): delicately broad-- a combination of delicate and small, broad and angular-- with width dominated by an overall “fleshy” softness in their arms, hips, and thighs. SGs often have “doll" like features: rounded face shape, fleshy cheeks and big eyes. If plus sized, their figure becomes more rounded, mainly in the bust, hips, arms, and face area. (Soft Gamines often think they are overweight-- when more often they’re not-- because of their natural roundness and lack of pronounced hips and waist.)
Fred Astaire, Robert Downy Jr.
Bette Davis, Susan Hayward, Claudette Colbert, Debbie Reynolds, Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry, Judy Garland, Leslie Caron, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, Octavia Spencer, Natalie Wood, Reese Witherspoon, Sally Field, Winona Ryder
ROMANTIC TYPES
Romantics
Tumblr media
Romantics are dominated by yin softness; and, therefore, have the least visual “weight” to them. Their frames are mid-height or shorter (5’5"/166cm and under) with “rounded” and curved angles or edges-- sloped or petite shoulders, rounded facial features, and “fleshy”, shorter arms, waists, and legs. If plus sized, Romantics keep their waist definition while their body and face become more rounded and “full.”
Colin Firth, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elijah Wood, Simon Baker, Richard Gere, Michael Jackson, Omar Shereef, Billy Dee Williams, Elvis Presely
Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Christina Ricci, Arlene Dahl, Bernadette Peters, Beyonce, Dolly Parton, Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Helena Bonham Carter, H. E. R. Gabbie Wilson, Gene Simmons, Madonna, Maryln Monroe, Susan Sarandon
Theatrical Romantics
Tumblr media
Theatrical Romantic Types differ from pure Romantic Types in their width: while both are delicate, the touch of yang to a TR’s frame gives it a narrower waist, slightly sharper features, and a bit less flesh over their arms, hips, or even hands. Their moderate to petite height (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts) is voluptuous, but small and narrow as opposed to wide and “bulky.” If plus sized, their figure retains its defined waist while the arms, thighs, and face become quite “fleshy.”
David and Susan Kibbe, Orlando Bloom, Prince, Johnny Depp
Ann Margret, Heidi Lamar, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jane Seymor, Jean Harlowe, Mila Kunis, Morgan Fairchild, Salma Hayek, Selena Gomez, Vivian Leigh
COMPARING THE CELEBRITY BODY TYPES

I would like to take a moment to remind everyone that Style Theory is just Some Guy's Opinion. Body types are just Some Guy's Opinion. Color theories are just Some Guy's Opinion. These aren't actually rules, and they're almost always built around the idea that there is a singular ideal way a person should look and you should tailor your wardrobe, hairstyle, makeup choices and lifestyle around trying to emulate that ideal as closely as you can.
I know some people find this stuff empowering, and I certainly think it can be fun! But every culture throughout every era in human history has had wildly different opinions about how people should look, so try not to take it too seriously. You can do anything you want forever.

Dramatic
Academia Fashion - Kibbe
Dramatic types have a long vertical line, may be tall, and have sharp straight silhouettes. They suit structured, tailored, long lines. And often suit dark colours. I believe dramatics are well suited to tailored, dark academia, corporate work-wear, menswear-inspired style academia fashion. Academia pieces I recommend for dramatics: tailored suits, long trench coats, patterned sweaters, leather blazers, long skirts dark coloured clothing, heavy fabrics and geometric patterns.

Bella Hadid: Kibbe Analysis
This is one of the few times where the Kibbe discussion about a celebrity is mostly right. Bella is usually typed as a Soft Dramatic and I agree with this typing!!
TW: mention of body dysmorphia, eating disorders etc
Bella, unlike most supermodels who tend to be Flamboyant Naturals, is a Soft Dramatic and I think this has caused her to have an identity crisis/body dysmorphia on top of growing up with Yolanda Hadid as her mother. Both Yolanda & Gigi are FNs with a typical lean, athletic build. Bella, being an SD has a fleshier, softer body.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when she gains weight, she gains it in her arms, thighs, hips, bust etc. She has broad shoulders, a small well defined waist and full hips. She has a natural hourglass body which most models don't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think many of her struggles with body image arise from the fact she does not have a typical rectangular model build and that she naturally has soft flesh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel weird calling it "soft flesh" but this is a picture of karlie kloss on the left and bella on the right. Karlie has a typical model build, strong shoulders, a wide square torso, her arms and thighs all have some muscle definition. She's in a sense kind of "strong looking".
Bella has soft thighs and arms, a very defined waist and in general she looks more "curvy" and "soft". The thing about being an SD is that working out and hitting the gym regularly will not give you muscle definition, with weight gain and weight loss, your body just shrinks or expands, instead of looking ripped.
This is something many SDs have spoken about and feel conflicted about; their body is not the kind that can build muscle or be "toned". That's how Naturals are build not SDs.
Tumblr media
Just look at Bella next to Gigi and you can tell how differently they are built and how different their essences are. Coloring also plays a huge role in determining someone's essence. Dramatic essence relates to someone of high contrast coloring.
While Gigi has Natural, Classic & Ingenue essence
Bella has Romantic, Dramatic & Ethereal essence
Tumblr media
As far as I know, Bella has only had a nose job in this picture. She naturally has full cheeks and a softer face. The sharpness comes primarily from her eyes and eyebrows. Also, remember that plastic surgery cannot really change your essence. In this and her early photos, it's obvious that Bella has Romantic/Dramatic/Ethereal essence.
This is just speculation but its likely that Bella felt the need to get buccal fat removal because even with weight loss, SDs tend to still have softer faces with full cheeks.
Tumblr media
It can be really hard to grow up consuming media where no one looks like you or has your body type and there's immense pressure to be skinny. Its even worse when you come from a family of models who you don't look like and work in the fashion industry.
Despite her weight loss over the years, before she underwent cosmetic surgery, she still retained softness to her face and body due to her SD build; this must have been hard for her to endure as she felt as though losing weight/working out wasn't making much of a difference to her, i.e, she wasn't getting those hollow cheekbones, skinny arms and legs and abs.
Again. This is not her fault. She is just a Soft Dramatic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now look at Bella in these outfits. They honour her SD lines but also emphasize her Romantic/Dramatic essence. She looks like a Goddess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compare those looks to these looks. None of these outfits make her shine. They don't bring out any of her essences and she looks kind of out of place and washed out in them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compare these two looks.
High necks are not suitable for SDs because it emphasizes their shoulders and makes their upper body look wide and short. The length of the dress is also very awkward.
Compare that to the nude gown on the right. This is something more suited for Classics but she still looks faaaaar better although it does not make her "pop". The open neck, the waist emphasis, the floor length gown are all flattering on her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of these are outfits that honour her Romantic/Dramatic essence however she looks incredible in the white one and less so in the others. WHY?
The yellow outfit has a high closed neck. This is an absolutely NO-NO for SDs. The fabric is not clinging to her body or revealing her shape. Since she's not frame dominant, she kind of looks engulfed in that dress. The black plunging neck with the waist cut outs and thigh slit dysmorphs the natural lines of her body. You cannot tell that Bella is an hourglass in this black dress, it emphasizes all the wrong places.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the picture on the left its apparent that Bella's bust breaks the lines of her frame and she has obvious "double curve".
Over the last few years, Bella has embraced a y2k style and also lost a significant amount of weight. This is a very sensitive topic and I don't want to trigger anybody but its clear that Bella hesitates to embrace her natural body type and styles that would flatter it.
SDs are prone to feeling like they're "too much". Ofc narrowing down all of Bella's struggles to her being a Soft Dramatic is silly and oversimplifying things but its important to understand that who you are, how you look, how you present yourself are all interrelated.
People who have a Dramatic essence are often described as intimidating (regardless of ID).
"Reels of Bella on the runway, staring lethally down her long nose and vamping to an ominous overlaid beat. She is steely, dead-serious, maybe a bit—and she knows this—scary."
this is an excerpt from Bella's Vogue interview and this is how the interviewer describes her.
People pick up on your energy regardless of whether or not they know about Essences or Kibbe or whatever; its an intuitive thing. People read your energy and your energy is connected to your appearance in some ways.
“The majority of the time when I meet people, they say, I just didn’t think you were going to be nice, that you were going to be this mean, scary dragon lady, or some kind of a sexbot,” she says. “That’s just not me, and if people have a better understanding of who I am, then I feel less alone within myself.”
This is what Bella says during the interview 😔.
She has always had a Romantic/Dramatic/Ethereal essence but over the course of several years worth of enhancements, her Dramatic essence became far more pronounced.
Many SDs feel conflicted about embracing the kind of exaggerated, over-the-top styles that are standard SD recommendations. It takes a lot of time and inner work to accept that this is what works for you best. Many women are afraid of dressing according to their type, esp if said type is R/TR/SD because of how much attention they draw or how it looks like they're "trying too hard". You're either stuck between looking washed out or looking over the top. There's no in-between.
Part of the journey is accepting the attention and understanding it and learning to feel comfortable with being "looked at" instead of hiding in your clothes. This requires a certain acceptance of one's own femininity in a culture that likes to put femininity into little boxes of shame ("trad wives", "bimbocore", "divine feminine"). this is obviously difficult because nobody wants to be perceived as thoughtless or unintelligent.
Like Jennie embracing a Gamine style, Bella too, has adopted a more androgynous style as of late.
“I dress like a little boy,” she suggests. “You couldn’t catch me in a dress willingly at this point in my life.”- Bella Hadid
It's not unsurprising that the last few years have witnessed Bella at the peak of her career and is now considered a bonafide supermodel who is greatly respected in the fashion circles. Its no coincidence that this has also been a time when her personal style underwent a major shift.
Earlier, say between 2015-2019, Bella dressed in ways that specifically suited her (more or less). It wasn't a style you could imitate for yourself unless you shared her ID.
Bella is credited with popularizing y2k style and was at the head of the y2k boom. This is largely a Natural style that would flatter most people (most people being Natural types). This has meant that her style is widely imitated these days.
Honouring your ID & essence means you stand out and are distinct. This means you're perceived as mean, intimidating, too sexy, over the top, bitchy etc etc
It does not make sense to walk around dressed like Vivien Leigh or Jennie Kim (during her 2016-2019 era) or Sofia Vergara or Christina Hendricks. Its not a style everybody can imitate.
Embracing a more androgynous style that largely caters to Naturals means everybody can relate to you, imitate you and connect to you. You don't stand out as much and certainly don't seem "over the top" or "intimidating".
