Alear for the character ask game! (I’d particularly like to know the song…)
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
I love this character because she's the first woman in any sort of media that I have related to as well as or better than with the men in the same thing. She's made me feel a lot more comfortable being a woman, because hey! Women don't have to be 2D and super strong or super clumsy and stupid.
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
I don't know really, I like her voice, I like her hair, I like her kindness and gentility, I like that she's naive and I like that she's a dragon who can unleash a goku blast at will upon her enemies.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
I don't know, I really liked her for the vast majority of the game. I think maybe the bit where she invites Rafal to the Somniel at the end of the DLC, since it felt very sudden and stunted, the decision wasn't necessarily the wrong one, but the way it was done felt, to me, badly executed.
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
I'm not really sure, somewhere with a cozy bed and her friends at her side.
NO! actually I am sure! I would put her in super smash bros because I want to main her XD
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
I actually have a playlist that I have made for her, but the first one on the playlist is 'Into the Sky' by Jim Yoseph and Laura Brehm.
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
She's got some AuDHD vibes I think, but also, she's a bit naive and not the smartest. Also she likes to sleep a lot.
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I love all of the cute drawings people do of her, she's got such a fun design, and it is lovely to see this drawn.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Often times, when I see deep takes or angsty stuff about Alear, it's about the male counterpart, I'd love to see some deeper takes about her. I love her because she's a multifaceted and interesting character, and it would be nice if the fandom reflected that for the woman just as much as for her male counterpart.
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
yes, but I'd prefer not to think about fictional characters meeting me, I don't know why, but imagining myself with my blorbos has always made me super uncomfortable.
10. Could you be best friends with this character?
refer to previous question!
11. Would you date this character?
again, refer to previous question!
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
That she has depressive episodes semi regularly, that her favourite flavour of ice cream is vanilla, that she loves to have her hair brushed, she would be a great gamer in a modern world and would own an MVP T-Shirt (yes she was my MVP most of the game)
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
I think she'd use the XD or the sunglasses emoji. I also think that she would use the sparkles emoji to outline sarcasm.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Stripy and two tone (like her hair) pastel soft academia aesthetic, try saying that three times quickly!
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
Alearfred I think.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
I'm not sure, but I'm not too keen on Alearcryst. They just don't work romantically for me. I love Alcryst, he's just far better platonically with her.
17. What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?
Kigetsu X Alear is OK.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
I love love love her relationship with Veyle!! Two siblings growing and healing together, they support each other and the hurt comfort stuff is just lovely with them.
19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like?
I don't so much like... and I am sorry @yanderefairyangel forgive me - Rafal's relationship with Alear. I can see why people like it, but... I don't so much... mostly it was Alear going up to the manipulative, unkind and blatantly cruel dragon man who had killed and resurrected undead and longing for death copies of her friends, who had levelled a world for no reason other than “I want to be like dad” and she just goes up to him and says in the supports, “I like you rafal, I think you’re kind, and we can hang out!” and I know it’s canon (dlc but still) but I really felt a kind of “she would not freaking say that.” Feeling
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Ho ho! In a smashbros type AU where they can all just hang out, Corrin, and Alear are besties, Robin and Alear have sleepovers and chat about nonsense together, and Byleth and Alear do loads of baking together.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I have had such horrible writers block for ages, but when I am writing for her (I haven't posted any anywhere because I cannot get anything even close to done) I really like doing hurt/comfort scenes where she gets a hug, I also like doing cute scenes like buying boba with Veyle.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
I haven't found that many so far, but I like romantic scenes with Alfred, I like when writers do angsty explorations of her character.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
look at how dumb she looks, I love her.
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
... I can't think of one... I guess, my DnD idiot sun elf bloke kind of reminds me of her, but I can't think why, he's a himbo warrior, she's not really... is it the dumb? The pattableness of their hair?.. I don't know...
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
1st impression: Stupid Nintendo Switch controllers looking waifu
Impression now: Blorbo blorbo blorobo blorbo bolo-
26. FREEBIE QUESTION!!
As an artist, I like to give particularly stylised characters their own little physical quirks when I draw them, so I am going to use this freebie to ask myself:
What head-canons or stylistic changes do you make when you draw this character?
I like to draw her a bit more on the chubby side, since she looks a little (very tiny bit) more rounded than her counterparts in the game and I'm taking that and running with it

Music Visuals & Their Qualities
Note: In the spirit of the new year and doing things differently, I've decided to openly discuss my opinions and thoughts as such, as opposed to trying to make some point or fact of the things I say or discuss. With that out of the way I wanna talk about Music Visuals.
What Makes A Visual?
A Visual is generally a well edited, supplemental aesthetic piece to a song, when done correctly. I think what makes a Visual a truly effective and unique addition to a song is how the visual builds either a feeling or provides a unique interpretation to enhance one's listening experience, with the basis being the song that goes with the visual. To put it shortly, what makes a Visual good is how well the direction of the video can synergize with a song. Below I'll be talking a bit about some of my favorite visuals, and how I think they've set a standard of qualities to look into when watching a Visual.
1 - Melancholic & Trippy
Hidden Behind Leaves video for 'Paixao' by Dylan Ross is a key example in showing how a Visual can not only be incredibly abstract, but also help to further capture the sort of archaic, witchy, and melancholic tone the song itself exudes. It's a visually psychedelic, yet somber video all around, and there's few, if even any video in general that has done it quite like Hidden Behind Leaves has with this particular video.
2 - Wavy & Beautiful
Tobi Visuals video for 'Mute City' by DPRT highlighted and in a sense encapsulated what vaporwave was, aesthetically speaking. Smooth editing, Purple filtering, Japanese commercials, beautiful women, and a ton of fucking water everywhere was were set as defining factors in the genre and subculture, for me anyway. While Mute City wasn't a vaporwave track, the visual for it certainly is, and it's amazing to see all the previous elements play off together with the song.
3 - VHS Quality/Nostalgia factors
Nostalgia can sometimes be a nice thing to revisit, especially with music. One thing that struck me about Kigetsu Yens visual for 'Lyrical Combat' by TwistKid was how natural and smooth Twist's song ran with old clips of MTV shows, skating videos, and old basketball footage. The footage itself, some 20 or 30 years old even, really redefined the feel of Twist's song. As much as it's about spitting bars, when both video and song are together, Twist's song became a part of that nostalgia, like he wasn't from this time, and it's pretty amazing that a video helped to do that. It's honestly cool for Kigetsu to have chosen videos of lower quality considering that at the time HD wasn't a thing, and I honestly don't mind that, the nostalgia comes from the grainy footage, in my opinion.
Closing Thoughts
There's a lot more to Visuals than just fancy edits and elements that correspond to aesthetics, and maybe that's hard to think of at face value. Nonetheless, and despite narrow windows of time and staying awake, I enjoyed trying to articulate what I think makes for good visuals. I can't stress that it's only an opinion, since I'm honestly no critic, and amateur in a lot of places, but if this gave any new insight to someone, then I guess I'll have done a good job. Feedbacks always appreciated, and thanks for reading.

Tell me about your favourite 3H characters and their interactions with your favourite Engage characters!
I am not quite sure if this is the answer you had in mind, but I enjoyed answering so:
My favourite 3 houses characters are as follows:
Byleth (I personally play as male, but have little preference between m and f), Dimitri, Claude, Sylvain, Dedue and Catherine. Perhaps this list will change after I have done other routes, but for now, this will do.
My favourite of the engage cast is quite a long list, so for now, what I will do is just spill ideas on the page about the 3H characters and the various engage ones they would hang with.
I think Alfred and Dimitri, purely because of the similarity of appearance (at least until time skip) would get into conversation. Whilst they are very different, I think that after Alfred wares Dimitri down with his unending positivity, they would be good friends.
whilst I do think that Claude would get on well with Fogado because of how similar they are, I can't help but wonder if he would get on better with Celine. They are both calculating and kind, and I think they would find each-other's company at the least entertaining.
Catherine would get on well with Saphir for obvious reasons. I also think that she would enjoy spending time with Jade... and for a reason that I can't quite explain, Jean and Amber.
Dedue would click with Boucheron I think, I also think that he would enjoy Kigetsu's company, and would probably be Zelkov's favourite person.
Sylvain would not enjoy Celine's company, I just think that she would rip him a new one and that he would try to avoid her. (she does have the sharpest tongue in the army after all) However, I think he would get on well with Yunaka and probably also Alfred.
The Byleths, in whatever world that the engage and 3H crew end up together in, probably are also both there. I think that they are like inseparable twins and would get along really well.
They and Alear also get along really well. I like to imagine that they would have fun karaoke nights out together with Shez, and have the craziest DnD group with Corrin and Robin.
These four protagonists would be inseparable friends I think.
