Just watched an episode of Columbo (Last Salute to the Commodore) with pacing so floppy and nonsensical that it looped back around towards the avant garde. Fascinating.

There’s so many unnecessary scenes that go on forever that’s it’s a genuine competition to pick out the most useless one. I think it’s a tie between Columbo teaching another cop how to drive his car and Columbo trying and failing for five minutes to sit crisscross applesauce. He’s at full max lumbo the entire episode. He disregards personal space so much he both sits in another man’s lap and also has another man sit in his. He gets an inexperienced scuba diver to swim a mile in the dark at night on a channel that they just finished discussing is dangerous to swim in, and when the scrubs diver pops up on the other side, Columbo’s like “hey what’s your name.” Columbo!! You made scuba dive for a mile in the dark! He just told you this is his fourth day scubaing!

The final parlor scene takes about two hours and fourteen props to reveal the killer as that guy I remembered from that scene where the best suspect of the episode—a perpetually drunk rich disaster woman whose job is to be sloppy and say “daddy”—has an emotional breakdown in a public yacht club, and then this guy goes back to?? playing piano?? As the entire crowd watches a woman have a mental breakdown while being questioned for murder. At the end of the episode, and this is true!!!, Columbo just gets in a boat and starts paddling across the water while his baffled colleagues watch him go. He boards so slowly and precariously and he paddles for so long before someone is like “dude where the fuck are you going” and then pops up “directed by the guy who made the cult classic, The Prisoner, a piece of media you might now as being good,” and now the ten hour experimental collage of scenes where Peter Falk giving it 11/10 is finally over. It’s probably the worst episode of Columbo I’ve seen, but almost to the point where I might genuinely recommend it.

Alan was home. After all, home was where the heart was, and Alan was definitely the one between the two of them with a heart. He'd proven himself beyond capable enough to catch Scratch's attention, finding ways to stop him at every turn. It was fascinating, really.

The Diver had given him a form, but The Writer had given him purpose. He went from being simply a vessel for The Dark Presence to a living, breathing character with personality and goals. Alan breathed life into him and made him who he was. How could he not be obsessed with him? He was everything to Scratch.

At first, he was made up from the rumors about Alan that were going around after he disappeared. A charismatic, party-loving serial killer who wanted to ruin his life. Thing is, this version of him was too weak. Alan was able to destroy him after just a few drafts. Upon doing so, he took away his physical form, burning it away with light. It was so painful. So incredibly agonizing.

Yet, it was so warm. Warm like him. Warm in a way that made him long for more. He may have lost his physical form, but upon gaining back enough power, he had a much better idea.

He'd seek out his Writer, burrow into him as deeply as he could manage in order to just feel even a flicker of that warmth. The warmth of that heart he himself lacked. Alan could morph him into whatever monstrous thing he thought up next, so long as he had a chance to come back to him and coat himself in that wondrous feeling he got from being inside him.

So long as he had a chance to come home where he belonged.

SANS AUS: Cross - Thresher/Foxtail. Look at that tail. Beautiful. I love him and I love threshers. Fight me. They're also not commonly seen and considered vulnerable. They're shy around humans and I like beating Cross to a pulp so go figure. He would use his tail as a sword also. Just saying.

Horror: Silky Shark. I don't know I just,,,,,,,, just take him. Please. Love him,,,,,

Dust: Oceanic White Tip. I don't know why I just feel like it suits him. ALSO. The white tips kinda look like dust geddit.

Nightmare: Frilled Shark. They're known for their eel like and ancient traits and living in the deeper sea which I feel like Nightmare would definitely be like. Bro wants nothing to do with those OTHER sharks (He gets roped into their shenanigans anyways)

Killer: Fuck. He'd be a Shortfin Mako for sure. They're super fast (The fastest shark and one of the fastest fish listed!) and live in the open ocean! They're endangered though which is sad :( But !! They're pretty and strong!

Dream: Lemon Shark. I like them you can also fight me on this one fucking do it. They're a very social type of shark and generally known for interacting with divers in friendly ways! Also they're yellow (I think)

Swap: Blue shark. Self explanatory and! They live in deep waters, are near threatened and rarely bite humans! They're very cool and I like them.

Ink: Epaulette Shark, they're colourful and live in reefs! Also that mf (/aff) WOULD evolve to walk on land. The spots? Ink fr.

Error: Bitch would be a greenland shark. They live in very deep water and have very slow metabolism, they look kinda gnarly and live for a long time (at least 250 years!!!). They often have eye parasites that make their vision shit and Error's glasses,,,,, yeah ok ill leave

MY CHARACTERS

Cur: Dogfish lol jk. Sand Tiger Shark, like most sharks- they only attack when they're bothered first (DON'T FUCKING PULL THE SHARK'S TAILS WTF....) and show protective behaviour. They have big teeth that stick out of their mouth and a big appetite but they're sadly critically endangered. They're the most widely kept large shark due to their tolerance of captivity.

Flesh: Angel shark. He's pretty, they're pretty. Next Question.

Cinder: Tiger Shark. They have a reputation for being 'trash eaters' because of the things scientists find in their stomachs. They swim wherever but are guided by warmer currents and stay closer to the equator when it's cold. They're an apex predator with their only known predator being the orca.

Small Gia, Didi and Jeje are all notorious serial killers with their own dedicated fanbases. Birds is another infamous killer along the lines of Manson, who never physically killed anyone himself but orchestrated the murders of people. Daisy is another infamous criminal whose trial was hugely publicized, especially given the insanity defense used. Coyote Nougat is an assistant director for Timoteo. Croquant Bouche and Ganauche III are really well known producers who often work with Vongola Films and Timoteo. Visconti does all the special effects work on Timoteo's movies and now the television show. Brabanter Schnitten is the sound mixer and Brow Nie Jr. the production coordinator on all Timoteo's works, employed with Vongola Films.

I honestly don't feel that Luce is the most comfortable in front of a crowd and she doesn't like to be the center of attention. She isn't comfortable with the idea of fame and celebrity, with no desire for them. She just wants a peaceful, happy, low-key life and I honestly don't even see her as someone who has Facebook, much less any other type of social media.

Fon has no desire for fame and celebrity either. There are some YouTube clips of him, found if you Google him, of prior martial arts matches he's been part of when he did compete in martial arts tournaments. However, he's not entirely comfortable even with that level of public attention, since he prefers a quieter and simple life.

Tiger & Bunny Week (Day 1)

April 2: Favorite Character, Episode, Movie, and/or Song

Most people seem to be doing them all, but I'll be skipping movie since there's only 2 of them.

Favourite Character:

MY CRINGEFAIL SON IVAN!!!! I relate to him immensely, even his dynamic with Edward I'd say I can somewhat relate to with someone in my life. It's uncanny. He tries his best to be outgoing but anxiety and self esteem issues sure are fucking bitches, so he can only really do it behind a mask. Even in S2 whilst his whole outlook may have taken a bit of a rollback, that's honestly realistic, not everyone can just keep marching and continuously improving themselves, there are setbacks and holes you can fall into at times. I wish we knew more about his personal life beyond his backstory of getting bullied as a child + what vague stuff we have of his hero academy days, a lot of heroes suffer from this, however. His passion for his hobbies is also just like me. He's cringe but he is free, just like many of us wish to be. Runner up is Keith I love the Autistic dog man

Favourite Episode:

I gotta go with Sky's The Limit. The title is a very OH GEE WHOS FOCUS EPISODE IS THIS kind but genuinely it doesn't prepare you for the content. There's a wholeass lore drop, an intense fight scene with a robot, and of course Keith being Keith. It also puts into focus just how much pressure heroes are put under when it comes to the rankings, and second place apparently not being enough for Poseidon Line is a very corporate reality. It's go big or go home. The ending is also like OH MY GOD IM CRYING???? Like, we know Cis isn't very capable of behaving like a human, but Keith doesn't realise she's not human at all, he treats her as any other person and falls harder than an anvil for her despite their short time in contact. It makes me think that Cis had a potential to be something, someone more than she was initially made for. And these two are a bit of a guilty pleasure ship that me and like 2 other people in the west side seem to ship and yes I will be taking those "Keith is still lowkey in love with her even in S2 era" crumbs thank you-

Oh shit this is where it gets tricky. I have so many, so I'll split it into categories:

I can't really put to words for Earth Diver, but I really like how it starts and kinda soothes you into the song before it really kicks. The lyrics are also very passionately sung.

I really like the calmer tone of Pilot and even though the explicitness of the shippyness isn't as heavy as Aida, the subtlety honestly fits them more. The credits themselves are also just beautiful; the visual aspect of them hits immensely hard in ep 14 especially since you saw what could happen to their suits in the fight the episode prior, and they're both no longer in their prime. Closing it out as they stare at the sunset makes me emotional and Proud Fiesta I love you but goddamn why did you return for Episode 25 that was a fucking mood killer I stg.

I love a lot of the character songs, with the ones from Best Of Hero very enjoyable romps, especially Mikirezakura and Thanks and Thanks Again, the energy these two songs have makes you wanna coreograph something. Some other highlights are POWER OF JUSTICE and Aaa Hero Suit. (Also Hidden Heroism actually kinda sucks it tries to be Mikirezakura 2 and thus loses out on an identity of its own which is very disappointing).

I love the harmony of the heroes cover of Orion, I can really picture them all in recording booths singing next to each other...who's the cheering guy, though? I've listened to this cover so many times and the line the cheering guy seemingly sings just sounds like Hirata's Kotetsu, I don't get it. I get wanting to balance the lyrics between groups and characters evenly but that was an awkward way to do it.
