villanelle and autism
side notes before i begin:
some of these traits could also be explained by cluster b disorders, as she’s heavily bpd coded and canonically aspd, but i see her as both cluster b AND autistic.
also, please don’t say things like “YES she’s not a psychopath, she’s autistic instead” because she’s still very much aspd and i don’t want to take that away. i’ve seen a lot of people with aspd really identify with villanelle and say she portrays it well.
just scroll if you don’t agree, this is a harmless headcanon and i’m simply explaining why i have this headcanon, as well as why a lot of autistic people seem to relate to her (people get SO mad if you even insinuate a popular character might be autistic lol)
masking/mirroring
masking is a strategy used to hide neurodivergent traits in order to blend in with neurotypicals. this can include mirroring (mimicking others expressions/behaviors), or even entire persona changes.
in the very first scene villanelle carefully observes a man smiling then mimics his smile (1x01)
villanelle hears a woman laugh on the radio then mimics her laugh, later she reuses that same laugh with sebastian (1x02)
liked copying the statue people in the street (2x05)
often mimics konstantin and predicts what he’s going to say
can quickly switch personas, adopts different accents and dialects quickly, and reuses phrases that are said to her
taking things literally
when talking about villanelle anna says “she was quite literal” and goes on to describe how villanelle misinterpreted a joke so confidently that she killed someone because of it (1x07)
interprets the bible extremely literally in season 4
“i have children” “i don’t want your children” (1x05)
“sheep are happier than wolves” “you spend your time off surveying sheep?” (3x08)
took konstantin saying “do something normal” literally (1x02)
“you are not a pumpkin, you a beautiful” (1x04)
kills gabriel because she thought he was genuinely asking to die when he was expressing how sad he was about his situation (2x01)
sensory seeking (& sensitivities)
touches and focuses on the texture of the liliana rizzari duvet, goes out of her way to ask the man she’s killing for the name of the duvet, later purchases it for herself and carefully feels the texture of it again (1x01)
generally touches and smells everything
“i want to smell her skin” (4x03) as well as her describing her ideal perfume in detail then asking eve and konstantin to smell her (3x03)
hates wearing crocs and other “non-nice” things, is very fixated on “nice” things like high quality clothes and food
makes people stroke her hair when she’s feeling upset (2x05 and 4x01)
bold fashion with a lot of colors/patterns/textures
seems to dislike most people hugging her
more up to interpretation, but she wore headphones in 3x04 and 3x05, once while she was having a meltdown on a train
struggles with social cues
includes coming off as blunt/rude, trouble navigating groups, and not interpreting situations correctly
how awkward and blunt she was at her wedding (3x01)
interacting with the church, especially in 4x02
doesn’t know how to react to displays of emotion (gabriel crying, benita crying, was confused and froze when her brother was being affectionate)
doesn’t understand why some people are upset with her (konstantin in s2, may in s4, eve at multiple points)
doesn’t understand that certain things will make people upset (being very blunt with gabriel then being put off when he starts crying)
struggles with understanding boundaries
doesn’t see authority figures as an authority (teasing and flirting with the prison guards, threatening konstantin, casually killing anton, doesn’t seem to understand consequences)
does not follow rules that don’t make sense to her
breaks into eve’s house expecting a normal dinner, doesn’t know how to calm eve down and ends up making her panic more (1x05)
didn’t understand why eve’s coworkers were acting scared of her (3x08)
is confused as to why sebastian laughs when she says she likes national anthems (1x02)
not understanding why her mom was laughing at her and that it was mocking “you always laugh at things that aren’t funny” “like you?” “yes” (3x05)
stimming
the repetitive performance of certain physical movements or vocalizations in order to self soothe or express emotion
big jumpy happy dance (3x04)
during cup game (3x05)
jumping and spinning on the heels of her boots by the train with rhian (3x08)
her copying noises she hears could be a type of vocal stim, echolalia
on the train ride at the end of 3x05
there are more examples but i can’t list them all since she generally bounces around a lot and has a lot of big movements
inappropriate/bizarre responses
yelling “this is so BORINGGG” while in an art museum (2x04)
“i mean i masturbate about you a lot” (1x08)
yelling “JUST DUNK ME” while getting baptized (4x01)
soooo many instances that again i can’t list them all…
alexithymia
alexithymia is the difficulty feeling or identifying emotions (or physical stressors like pain)
her whole aa meeting speech in 2x06 about how she feels nothing and the distress it causes (is extremely bored, hurts herself and it doesn’t hurt, just wants to feel something)
doesn’t know if she’s telling the truth or not (2x07), this could also be because of masking as too much masking can cause identity confusion, not knowing what you’re faking and what’s authentic
weakened sense of danger, even says “i don’t get scared” (2x08)
says she’s fine then immediately collapses (2x01)
other traits
meltdowns, especially at the end of 3x05 where she was wearing headphones and had increased stimming while crying
low empathy
attaches to and fixates on a specific person, obsession prone
REJECTION SENSITIVE DYSPHORIA
has always felt estranged and inherently different from others, “i’m not normal you know” (2x01)
detail oriented, notices things others don’t
bad at dancing/rhythm
exaggerated facial expressions
exaggerated speech
poor impulse control
differences in expressing emotions and communication
only comfortable with select people
perfectionism, hates working with a team and wants to do jobs alone (1x04, 3x02)
feels threatened when irina knows more languages than her, as languages are something villanelle is very interested in (1x08)
black and white thinking

Maaaaaasoooooooon :3 (i would pounce but I'm almost sure you wouldn't want that so I don't) Let's talk about Villanelle for a change :3
What moment where you hooked on Villanelle as a character?
Which scene/moment is most memorable to you?
What do you have in common with her?
Is there a scene/moment that had an impact on your life?
1. What moment were you hooked on Villanelle as a character?
Tumblr media
Honestly, the first scene? Not just the fact that she knocks the ice cream into the kid’s lap, although that would be enough. The way she tries to engage the kid almost experimentally and fails. Watching her study and then emulate the differences in the smiling expressions? That piece was very relatable for me.
And the glee on her face when she’s walking out of the ice cream parlor? Amazing.
Re-watching it, seeing the blood drop on the watch, and then realizing that she stopped to get ice cream shortly after murdering a guy in broad daylight in public?
I want this woman to be my friend. She will get me arrested or killed, and it will be so fun.
2. Which scene/moment is most memorable to you?
Tumblr media
Probably like a 16-way tie between a bunch of scenes, but one of my favorites to re-watch is Eve swallowing the pills during the kitchen scene in 2x05. Both of our ladies do such an amazing job with that scene. The tears spilling silently down Sandra’s face and Jodie’s little micro expressions. It tells us so much about the characters. And all the tension.
Followed immediately by my favorite asshole’s arsenic prank.
3. What do you have in common with her?
Tumblr media
Extravagance and desserts.
I don’t really give off an extravagant vibe—I’m not sophisticated—but I will buy whatever I want whenever I can afford it. (Footnote: I will never be able to retire.) I make foolishly extravagant gestures to others and give gifts at random. I’ve always been this way, even when I didn’t have much income.
I once bought a friend an electric bass—a new friend, like a friend I had known for three months—as a birthday gift and then realized I didn’t have enough money for tuition, so had to return it (luckily before I actually gave it as a gift). 😅
I do the same thing in little ways, too. I’ve just gifted random things to fellow tumblr kids—some KE blogger is having a bad day? Surprise ad-free for a year, surprise have a horse, surprise have some (apparently contentious) badges, etc. I usually do it anonymously because I’ve found it creeps people out. There is no ulterior motive, I just treat social interactions like the Sims (action queue: talk, talk, tell joke, tell joke, tell joke, tell joke, give gift, give gift—meanwhile, only three minutes have passed in real life), and I feel ashamed and chagrined when people don’t like it.
I feel like Villanelle is similar in that she obviously buys what she wants, but she also sees gift-giving as a social currency. Maybe it’s her love language, but I see it as her showing interest by doing the thing she likes for herself (have nice stuff) for others (gifts for Anna, Eve, even Bor’ka’s Elton money). And dessert is just … the way to live your life. Villanelle likes sweets. Hagelslag, ice cream, candy. I will eat chocolate chips straight out of the bag, rainbow chip frosting with a spoon, always order it at the end of a meal out, etc.
About the show more broadly, I love that KE has both Villanelle and Eve eating regularly and in a very human way. And enjoying it! They’re not Women Eating Salad, they are choking to death on pasta and eating pastries mid-meeting.
4. Is there a scene/moment that had an impact on your life?
[Footage not found wanted.]
I’m scrunching up my nose right now because I have to say it—the series finale. I’ve never been so furious over a show ending in my life, nor a character death (not even Lexa, which was supreme bullshit).
It was probably the first time I felt something approximating real grief for a fictional character? I was wrecked for months and I honestly think half of my KE hyperfixation is a coping mechanism? I liked the show a lot before—liked the first two seasons, was kind of neutral on the third, and then that finale, man. Lost my shit.
I’ve re-watched the entire show (sans the final three minutes) dozens of times now. Maybe more. Probably more. I have read at least 300 fanfics and reread some of those dozens upon dozens of times. I have my silly KE/Twilight fic but I also have a separate unpublished fix-it fic where I have been rewriting the entire show from start to finish while reincorporating the interesting pieces from the books. (I’m only into season two of the plot and it’s so long it has broken the word count feature in the Bear app where I write.)
All in response to that shitty ending.
But to round it out with something nicer, the bridge scene hurts my heart in the best possible way. Does that impact my life? I dunno. But it's the scene that always leaves me whooping and shouting about character growth and love, so it's something.

for the sleepover thing! top 5 killing eve and hannibal eps?
hiii!!
i’ve been waiting to answer this bc i wanted to give it some proper thought <3
for killing eve:
5. 1x07
in this episode we see eve investigating anna, and because of that we see a glimpse into vil’s past and how her mind works. while i love those moments, i think there’s a lot to be said about eve’s mind set here too - we see her actively making decisions that are harmful to herself and the operation. but eve doesn’t care about that, she’s self serving and she wants villanelle. she wants to know everything about villanelle. she’s doing everything to get her
4. 1x08
i love season two so fucking much, but i know if the show ended here, i would’ve been happy. i liked seeing eve’s conflict of stabbing villanelle and then immediately regretting it. whether it came from a place of guilt or traditional ‘right and wrong’ that got to her is definitely up for debate, but i’ll always love reckless selfish sadistic eve
3. 2x08
the whole scene of eve killing raymond and axing his shoulder fucking kills me. i love seeing vil ask eve if she’s okay and eve completely stonewall her and insist that she’s fine. eve doesn’t like talking about her feelings, she’d much rather get on with life without the added bullshit of dealing with emotions too. villanelle’s possessiveness really shines through in the final scenes of this episode also - ‘you’re mine’ to shooting her in the back after she felt betrayed was delicious
2. 1x05
this and number one are soo neck and neck with each other. i’ll always have a soft spot for vil holding eve’s knife against her throat and eve being so clearly turned on by it. whether she knew it then or not, eve wanted villanelle in her entirety. she liked being scared of her- she wanted to be scared of her
1. 2x05
everything? kills me. actually kills me!! villaneve kitchen scenes are unmatched and i could talk about them for hours. villanelle learns a lot about eve during this episode- the disregard she has for own life being one of them. she already knows that eve is like her, but she tests her during this episode. villanelle seeks out eve’s reactions throughout their scenes together and comes to her own - mostly correct - assumptions about eve’s character
for hannibal i don’t have favourite episodes but i do have several moments that kill me dead
5. will’s intro scene
4. season 2 finale
3. will - he left me with a smile
2. hannigram final scene
1. bedelia’s final scene
thank you so much for the ask!!!!!

Love, Death + Robots : Volume 2
The animation and the CGI were even better than volume 1. Incredible!
And I didn't expect so many "happy ending" this time.
But still, where is the love in all of this?
Review by episode :
Automated Customer Service (2x01) : the animation and the story were amazing. I felt so sorry for the fish as for the cushion (the details were excellent). Love this California's house as the vaccubot. The pooper scoopers were excellent too. The last shot shown us a last sunset, fitting for the town's name. There is also a reference to Meat Dept in the show as he is the director for the episode.
Ice (2x02) : The ice whales were beautiful. It's the resentment of one brother over the other, because he isn't "modded", but finally the young brother faked his injury to help his older brother. Ice is also the reference to the drugs seen during the episode.
Pop Squad (2x03) : the first minutes of the show was terrible, when Briggs killed those two innocent children. However, I really love this idea of immortality! The animation was incredible. But I didn't understand how a woman can become pregnant when they are immortal? Why the children cannot take the place of the parents once they are mortal again? What if an immortal adopt a child? Both Alice and Briggs are complicit with this system. Also, the shop "Ipswich collectibles" can be found in this episode and in the last one.
Snow in the Desert (2x04) : Incredible CGI. I wasn't expecting this happy ending. I liked also this immortality going on with Snow, it's a type of world building, where this new type of pheromone produce a different type of sperm. OR who is this mysterious "Toxin"? The details with the strawberries or the lock on the drinks. The details with the Marchant Boris or Pentle, the synth. Question: Can snow produce baby with his special sperm?
The Tall Grass (2x05) : the animation was good. Of course, he needed to wander into danger. I wasn't expecting this happy ending too. The episode was the representation of changing time letting people behind. The animation was made by the Canadian studio called "Axis Studios".
All Through the House (2x06) : The animation was very well and I really liked the twist, as what would happened if we weren't good? haha.
Life Hutch (2x07) : The only episode with an actual actor, which is none than Michael B. Jordan. I liked the tension of the episode and the effect made on the hand. Another happy ending.
The Drowned Giant (2x08) : Amazing animation again. The story is actually a book by J.G Ballard (who wrote Crash), which his name was featured on the butcher shop. But so many question remained: Where does the giant come from? From the sea? The voice of the narrator is so smooth (by Steven Pacey), at first I though it was the voice of David Attemborough. The narrator is maybe the giant in itself. The story is also the story of our own humanity, we fade away and leave the memory of those left behind. It was like a philosophical entree.
Some quotes :
"- Well, it's Vacuubot's house now. We suggest you run." (2x01)
"- "Different." That's what the grownups say, but they mean "better". (2x02)
"- So not having kids seems a small price to pay for getting to live forever." (Alice) - Well, we can't keep letting people into this party if no one ever leaves" (Briggs - 2x03)
"- Why do you do it? Why do people like you keep having these kids? (Briggs) - Why? Because I'm not so in love with myself that I just want to live forever and ever. I've been alive 218 years. I've seen... too much. But she makes everything new." (Eve - 2x03)
"- Listen...I've never killed anyone who didn't try to kill me first, so just move one. (Snow) - I mean you no harm. Unless harm is meant." (Pentle - 2x04)
"- What would have happened if we weren't... good?" (2x06)
"- What I found so fascinating was partly his immense scale, of course, but above all, it was simply the categorical fact of his existence. Prolonged immersion in seawater and the tumefaction of his tissues had given the face a less youthful look. His features now had an appearance of well-fed maturity, hinting at the growing corruption to come. This was the beginning of his surrender to that all-demanding system of time, in which the rest of humanity found itself. In the end, his face had been transformed into a mask of exhaustion and helplessness. Caught in that same twisting whirlpool for which all our finite lives are destined. And his suffering was made all the more tragic by the isolation in which he endured it. Cast like an abandoned ship upon the empty shore." (Steven - 2x08)

6+12 for the film ask 💗
6: what symbols peculiar to you would recur throughout the film ?
Eyes!! I love eyes, I would have tons of shots closeup on just people’s eyes and eye imagery abound. Honorable mentions that aren’t particularly peculiar: poisonous flowers, pigeons (they do not get enough love, they’re so cool and I love how their feathers shine).
12: wardrobe department: three outfits you would wear in the film (images or descriptions) !
If this is my ideal movie I am going to be as specific as possible fashion-wise.
1: A floor length black dress, cinched at the waist with a skirt made of layers of tulle with flower designs around the bottom, and see-through flowing sleeves. This would be paired with long black gloves, tall boots that click when I walk, and an intricately designed wide brimmed hat (think; the hats Jennifer Tilly wore in like the 80’s, and sort of like that one dress Villanelle from Killing Eve wore in 2x05).
2: A red shirt with a black tie, high waisted black suit pants, and a long black trench coat that blows behind me in the wind. This would be paired with doc martens and several rings (think; Nadia Vulvokov).
3: A big thick sweater on top of a long pleated skirt + thin black tights that have probably been torn by some sort of run through the woods. The same boots as the previous outfit are worn in this one, as well as fingerless gloves and some sort of novelty sunglasses (heart shaped? bat wings? think; Brigitte Fitzgerald)
(dream life in film ask game)
