Now that I've made progress I think I see how I might do it differently in future. I'm still going to stick with this design to a point to learn more first though!
I wish I had more lames to play with since what seems like a *lot* doesn't go very far - while its great that i can disassemble it and remake it in any way i want, it would be best to have this one as an example and do any other ideas separate
Maybe thats just because it's how I was taught at art school (maybe its just because they need to see your work/progress) but I do like to have a physical record. I'm a physical kinda person 😂 I do a physical job and I learn by doing so I like to be able to see and touch my work

Today is an Art day. Need to get some drawing done, but of course, the Pen for my tablet wouldn’t be charged. Why would it be when I am ready to use it. Honestly sometimes nothing will ever beat pencil and paper. Best way to draw hands down. But digital art is cleaner and would make for better products. I’m not very good with digital art yet, I only got my tablet last year as a gift from Hubs, he…

did any other neurodivergent people have that “learning styles” bullshit used to explain away your symptoms as a child, or was it just me?

visual learning: you learn(ed) mostly or exclusively with visual aids such as diagrams, charts, pictures, etc. writing stuff down also helps as well! you probably retain(ed) information best when seeing something is drawn in front of you or something similar.
auditory learning: you learn(ed) mostly or exclusively through listening. you probably retain(ed) information best when listening to lectures or similar things.
reading/writing learning: fairly self-explanatory, you learn(ed) best when reading or writing things down.
kinaesthetic learning: you learn(ed) best when doing something with your hands or in general, your senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, etc.)
i personally was a mix of visual and reading/writing learning styles. i could never really learn stuff when someone was telling me something. i heavily relied on note-taking and reading/writing to retain information (very much in high school). in other words, i had the neatest and most organized notes ever. literally was going in with highlighters (each with specific purposes, such as blue for steps i need to remember, green for important phrases, pink for math formulas, etc.)

Working on a YA novel…
Okay, so I’m nearly finished the first draft of Relevé, the follow-up to Tumbling. I want to check on a few things besides ballet-related stuff.
Main character is primarily a kinaesthetic learner: she learns best by doing stuff. I could use resources that have helped others with similar challenges, especially accommodations and strategies that help with both academic performance and physical learning as with dance.
Main character has an anxiety disorder. I would love resources to check strategies as I’ve written some that help me but I know everyone’s different!
One of main character’s closest friends (from her church) is Chinese Canadian, and another (from her ballet studio) is an immigrant from India. Anyone able to do a sensitivity read for those? I am woefully aware of my limited experience with people from these cultures and I know that what I think is probably fine may not be in reality.
If you would be able to help out, please message me to discuss terms. If you would like to read Tumbling first, to see if my writing is even something you might like to bother with, we can make that happen too.
As the title says, YA fiction. It’s contemporary and the main characters of these books are disabled.

Crunch Time Exam Prep
My girl @seliniteheart requested: “How to prepare for exams 3-4 weeks ahead while not going insane because they're the hardest exams in the entire major” and this seems time-sensitive, so I gotchu girly! I hope I got this to you in time!!
Scheduling
Break your time up effectively so that you can get as much information crammed into your brain as possible
Break it down also so thay you repeat the information on a good interval. Maybe, if there’s three weeks to go, repeat question x every monday and info y every tuesday, and do a practise paper every friday?
If applicable, figure out what’s most likely to be on the exam and focus on that
Focus also on your weak points. Don’t waste energy on the things you know and are good at, give them a go over but focus on the stuff you don’t like
Schedule productive breaks- if you’ve been elbows down on your desk for a bit and want to keep the study energy up but need a break, take a break for some kinaesthetic learning, for example.
Take 0% breaks- in other words, take some breaks to do absolutely nothing, where even thinking about the exam is BANNED. Life-Hack- inform other people of this strategy so that you don’t get your mum coming into your room like “how’s the studying going?” when you’re mid-meditation, or to be watching your comfort YouTuber when your bestie is like “girl, I’m so stressed for this exam on Monday!” This time is for 0 brain power, no stress.
Sorry to the girlies who also have to consider jobs and other priorities, but see if you can work with your employers, the aunt you babysit for etc to reduce your time, or if you can blend your studies. Eg maybe you’re studying for a maths exam, which means helping your little cousin with maths homework keeps you in the right mindset to study for an hour when you get home. Or maybe your retail job is cool and lets you study in the breakroom, or even take your textbook to the till when its quiet.
If your bosses aren’t cool, unfortunately, you just have to make the most of spare time, but as long as you’re maximising your study time to work for you, you can do this!
Breaks
As mentioned above, schedule in breaks that keep the vibes up, and breaks that turn your brain OFF completely. Set yourself school hours eg 9-3 or even 9-5. Doesn’t matter, just pick a time in the evening when that’s it OVER and no more studying.
Make sure to go for water regularly, and eat at regular times- and DO NOT take your notes with you!
Taking Care of Yourself
Make your study experience as painless as possible by giving yourself a good environment. If you like the library, sequester yourself into a cozy corner; if you like a café, same deal. If you’re at home, make sure to keep your space tidy and organised.
I’m gonna mention going to get water again. Go get some right now, actually. Where I live, the hottest days of the year are exam season and back-to-school season. Christmas exams are a whole separate nightmare but you’ll still sweat through your fifteen million layers! Go hydrate!
If you’re hunched over your desk, you need to stretch. Find YouTube video you like, especcially if you’re not that familir with stretching. And go for a walk at least once a day, weather permitting.
If you’re a kinaesthetic learner especially, do a proper cooldown after exercising! That’s true anyway, but especially if you’re adding your brain as a muscle to train.
Actually, maybe we should all be doing warm-ups and cool downs… go over your favourite aspects of your subject in a quick five minutes at the start and end of your sessions!
The Actual Studying
Aka, the hard bit. Its so much mor fun to just organise your space, gather all your pens, and set up your instagramable study session, avoiding the actual “study” bit- God knows that’s me. How you actually study is so different person to person and subject to subject, so I’m going to give tips that are hopefully applicable to a lot of people, but may not all work for everyone!
Cater to your own preferences: I sometimes listen to classical music when I study, I sometimes listen to numetal, so what makes sense to you.
If you need to, block out all distractions: do not disturb on your phone, even turn off your wifi if you can.
If you’re like me and need distractions eg adhd: try pacing to shed any excess energy, listen to loud music (lol like my numetal ha), if possible, listen to your notes aloud while doing something else (I used to play solitaire in class). I find that if you have something else that you can focus on such as a pretty menial/repetitive game like solitaire, or a song with lyrics, your brain gives more energy to that so that instead of a hundred million thoughts distracting you, its only one extra thing.
Read your notes aloud to yourself and walk around your room- hit all three learning styles at once
Write and re-write things, condense it down, do past papers, and just keep repeating the same information until you’re sleep-talk in just the quadratic formula and/or you’re even dreaming in French.
Ok, that’s it for now. I hope that helped selineiteheart, and I hope it was useful to anyone else who needs this! There are a tonne of resources out there, and I’m sure you’ll find what works for you- lmk what you want to see next! Also, I hope you do well in your exams! Good luck, I’m sure you’ve got this!!

i'm trying anki because i saw people recommend it for vocabulary learning but am i right to think there's no like. answer input. it's purely a digital flashcard where you say the answer to yourself (out loud or in your head) then press to reveal it?
or i'm guessing if you CAN do answer input it requires some convoluted card setup? (i barely understood the most basic card setup, this is the least intuitive interface i've seen in years and i work in a field where half the websites are from 2003)
pure flashcards with no input is not useful to me -- i need to be forced to learn to spell and i am also a kinaesthetic learner for whom purely visual info does nothing, i need to physically interact with the material -- so if i am understanding this programme correctly it is not going to be what i need :/ alternative recommendations appreciated

Don’t you just start tearing up when you remember that Lucy has been going above and beyond for Tim even before romance was in the cards, like she did not give two shits even when she was a rookie, even when she knew she was overstepping at times, she still did anything she could so that Tim would always stay successful in his career, her making the audiobooks for him after learning he’s a kinaesthetic learner like??? my fucking heart is in shambles, this woman seriously deserves the the whole entire world and I’m so happy that Tim could be the one to give it to her, he is seriously such a lucky man to have Lucy as his forever person 😭

2 - Do you even knit bro
So here I am, with my little test piece and wool my aunt brought me from the store and new knitting needles and a bunch of wool I acquired myself on day 3 of my knitting journey.
So.. we hit September 29th - the day I just went for it.
I figured I had done plenty of practice for just doing something as basic as a scarf, I mean, basically I already made a little animal sized scarf already right so how hard can it be to do this on a larger scale?
Tumblr media
Well. Lets start with the fact that while I knew the basic movement of knitting I had not yet learned how to cast on wool to start something new. Because remember, my aunt did that with the test piece and did the first two rows - so over to the auntie we go and we run back into the same issue as before - she can't explain and I can't follow. Hand manipulation became funky business because neither of us realized that when I tried to copy I held the threads wrong and tried to cast on loops with the thread connected to the wool not the other one. It was a bit of a funny back and forth because she looked over my hand movements, saw me pick up the thread and of course it did not work as intended and neither of us cottoned in on what was going wrong here. It might seem silly, but I was very pleased with myself once she retried on her own hand to figure out what I am doing wrong (remember we are both kinaesthetic creatures, she needed to replicate my movements to find out what is wrong but as opposed to me she held the threads - both of them - correctly for this step so she did not realize what went wrong on my end) that it dawned on me that I had thrice looped the threads wrong around my fingers and of course it could not work that way. So I took the thing back from her, wound the threads around my hand again and this time it worked. My first correctly cast on loop. Fuck yeah. The upside of fucking around so much on this basic step and then realizing what went wrong would ensure that this is now second nature ain't no way I am doing this wrong again ever. Good thing too because my aunt was starting to get mildly frustrated because this is easy basic stuff but somehow it is complicated and I get why it frustrated her a bit how clumsy my humble beginnings are but I reminded her gently, that she did this for years, she does not have to think or plan anything for her it is all muscle memory, just like riding a bike. But I have not learned how to ride this particular bike - would she expect me to know how to hold my balance without having it ever done before? Of course not. And any new task that involves your body and movement needs to be hardwired in your brain to make you perform it with the same ease she does it. The older we get, the more we forget how tricky it can be to pick up something new you have never done before and many people get frustrated and stop learning something because they wrongly assume being an adult means you should learn shit in a snap. Nah. Everything we learn kickstarts new neural pathways in our brain, those want to be engaged and nurtured by repetition you can't just go into something new and come out a pro in the same day. 's not how it works. But my aunt is in her late 50s so it's been a while since she got into any new craft. But she understood when I explained and reminded.
So here I am, happily casting on loop after loop and I have no concept on how much to get a good broad scarf so my aunt estimated for me to make like 40 (I am working on another scarf right now and she was absolutely right - 40 is the perfect amount for this particular bulky wool) and I said "I want it huge, really really big you feel me? So she said "make it 45 then". By the time I started counting how many I already had on there I was at 55 but instead of stopping there I figured, ehh extra bulky - and made it 70.
And let me tell you, with absolute no shadow of a doubt, this was both a mistake and overshooting the goal widely and also the best thing ever.
Tumblr media
It is soft, it is bulky, it is wide enough that if I get it to the length I wish to achieve I could very likely roll myself up in it. And I mean completely. Like.. drape and wrap it nicely, use some safety pins and bäm. Could make it some sort of eccentric statement piece in the next ballroom. So yeah, Friday the 29th was go-time and I was knitting until like.. what.. 2am happy as a clam. Next morning, Saturday I woke up, grabbed the thing to knit a bit before getting up, count the loops and.. I lost one. No idea were it went, no idea when it went and no idea how to spot were it is. The good thing for me was, that on this very Saturday my mother would drop in to help me with something and if my auntie is an expert in knitting, then my Mother is the master. There was so much crafted stuff in my childhood home and my fondest memories of my mother are her crocheting, knitting, or crafting something. Mostly fancy Easter eggs with fabrics pearls and feathers and stuff. Really fancy shizzle. So of course when she dropped in I was like "Mama! I started to knit! Also I lost a loop and I do not know where it is or how to spot it in this bulky thing help meeeee!" And she gave me a look. You know the one. The one only an exasperated Mom can give you. But eh, she found it. Six or Seven rows below and so she unraveled all those rows, threw everything back on the needle, counted, and then redid the rows with speed I could not comprehend. She also muttered something about this wool being bad, it's too dark too bulky can't see shit with that why would you use that as starting project yadda yadda yadda. (I think she was pleased tho, she tried back then to get both of her children into crafting but my brother was more for gaming and bionicles and I was more art, writing and gaming the spark was not quite there yet)
She gave me a second look when I showed her the wool I had acquired already for future projects because she lowkey thinks I might not stick with it - well, let it be known I am in deep. I might eventually balance it out again with all my other hobbies but for now I just wanna progress and create stuff and I like to have a lil stash on hand. She promised me to show me how to knit with 5 needles to make some legwarmers I am very exited and down the line of talking she told me not to try a blanket because she wanted to do that and was discouraged because its expensive and takes too long. But she also told me that the bulky wool I have going for the scarf she would do away with in 1 hour so I'm like... damn woman if you're so fast and money is no longer an issue you could probably pull this off in record time.
It also gave me a lil kick because this bulky thing? 1 hour??
Now that it a goal to work up to >d
This is the state of the scarf currently by the way, pulled over both of the knitting needles so I can show you just how broad this thing is. The lighter is a normal sized lighter that fits in the palm of your hand. Like I said, 70 loops was both the worst and best decision I made with this. I already had to start a second roll of wool for this. It will take a bit to finish. In fact I already finished something else in the meantime while working on this because just one WIP is not a thing I can do (I have now 5 things I work on truth be told)
Tumblr media
But yeahhhh it huge I love this thing I can wear this as fullbody piece eventually I am very pleased. And it is soft. It is so soft. I love it so much.

So, the Pathologic 2 Artbook includes a bunch of character descriptions from the design documents and (as a pretentious literature postgrad and obesssive lover of this game and its lore) I wanted to share some of my favourites.
--
The Heroes:
“The Changeling is skin, this [story] is about contact and caress, kinaesthetic things . . . as a means to create meaning, develop the world and bring peace to it”
“The Haruspex is blood and organs . . . [this story is about] the interconnectedness of everything and restoring the connections”
“The Bachelor is about vision and the brain . . . [this story is about] comprehension and rational (analytical) interpretation”
“The Bachelor sees
The Haruspex hears (rhythm)
The Changeling talks”
--
The People:
Aglaya Lilich - “To her, contending with God, too, is a form of restoring justice and natural law.”
Commander Block - “inspired by Antonius Block from The Seventh Seal” (a disillusioned knight who returns to find the Black Plague choking his country. Tormented by his own lack of faith, he is determined to evade Death long enough to redeem himself)
Georgiy Kain - “above all, a Smith, a Sculptor. [. . .] as a rock can be turned into a statue by chiselling away the unnecessary, so can a human be turned into a superhuman.”
Grief - “He’s an ‘anti-Immortell’ who runs an ‘anti-Theatre’ at the Warehouses”
Mark Immortell - “He has no past: he is the Theatre incarnate, its spirit materialized in a carbon-based avatar. [. . .] Mark is a harlequin.”
Maria Kaina - “A mistress in the making . . . still barely more than a child, very immature” / “Das Ewig-Weibliche [the Eternal Feminine] comes to mind.”
Murky -  “she follows [the Haruspex] everywhere. Conscience itself, walking on dirty feet.”
Vlad the Younger - “His life’s goal is an attempt to turn the Kin into the Town . . . [much like] those naïve landowners who sought to ‘enlighten’ the peasants”
Foreman Oyun - “He governs the Kin on the Olgimskys’ behalf . . . like a Nazi-appointed village elder. There is an important difference, though: no one despises this elder.”
Andrey Stamatin - “an impetuous and amoral adventurer . . . based on Benvenuto Cellini” (a talented Renaissance sculptor, goldsmith, and writer who was repeatedly prosecuted for sodomy, theft, and murder)
Peter Stamatin - “Not to be turned into a drunken clown . . . This is a tragic character who must elicit sympathy and compassion.”
Stakh Rubin - “[He is] like Levi Matvei in The Master and Margarita” (a student near-crazed in his devotion to his Master, tragically unaware of his inability to fully comprehend or follow said Master’s life and teachings)
Kasper ‘Khan’ Kain - “a Kai from H. C. Anderson’s The Snow Queen” (a boy who falls victim to corrupting influences which replace his youthful innocence and sense of wonder with cold realism and rationalism)
Yulia Lyuricheva - “She’s a ‘scientific mage’ in the same sense that the Stamatins are architectural mages.”

Introduction
Hello again everyone! Welcome back to class. Today’s lesson will be more of a guide to developing and improving your intuition as well as your energy sensing abilities. There are multiple ways to enhance and develop these abilities. Let’s get to it!
Intuition
Simply put, intuition is the ability to understand something by instinctive feelings rather than conscious awareness. While it is true that some are naturally gifted with a strong intuition, there are several ways for you to build and strengthen your intuition as a means to build your energy sensing abilities.
Intuitive styles will vary from person to person, but typically everyone uses one of their senses as a means to sense energy. Allow me to explain a bit further in detail.
Intuition Regarding the Senses
Everyone uses their intuition through at least, if not multiple senses. We use our senses to gain information about the surrounding energy.
Vision - This can be referred to as “the mind’s eye”, or in simpler terms - your imagination. This can also be through actual visual eyesight as well.
Smell|Taste - This is a means of gathering information through the lingering aromas in the air where there may or may not have been an actual scent. Typically those who use this sense to gather information are “claire” of some sort.
Hearing - This can also be referred to as “the mind’s ear”, such as internal voices, or even actual noises within your surroundings.
Intuition Regarding Other Methods
Environmental - This refers to the gathering of information through your physical (or astral) surroundings, or particular characteristics regarding a specific thing.
Kinaesthetic - This is regarding the physical awareness of one’s body. Some people gather information through physical sensation, such as tingling sensations or feeling someone touch you when no one is really there.
Empathetic/Claires - This topic is too long to really cover here, so I’ll just refer to this in a way that refers to intuition. If you’d like to read more on Empaths, click here & here. These people use their emotions & the emotions of others to gather information.
Building Intuition
Intuition is very important to many practitioners, as it allows for the ability to connect with our authentic selves as well as the world and energy that surrounds our daily lives. It helps provide wisdom and guidance when we need it the most. Unfortunately, it is very easy for many of us to lose this ability in the hustle & bustle of daily life. However, there are ways for us to rebuild this, so don’t give up hope if this all seems foreign to you.
While there are probably a thousand ways you could improve your intuition, one of the most effective ways is through silence & stillness. This allows us to quiet out the noise in order for us to revert back to our original energy, so we have a chance to feel and reconnect with our own personal energy & guidance system. It helps us hone in on all the things the outside world distracts us from. Here are a few ways to practice this in your everyday life.
Meditate - Dedicate 5 minutes out of every day to sitting in silence with yourself. Allow yourself to focus on your breathing, and scan your body for any tension and with each breath, release that tension. Focus on your five senses and see what you are able to infer about the surrounding energy once you are in a relaxed state. This will help you become more in tune with your own energy, which will in turn lead to you understanding the energy of others.
Journaling|Art - Start a log of all of your intuition exercises to track your progress. Journal your thoughts, worries, and anxieties as a means to externalize your internal conflicts. Create anything in a free-flowing form as a means to help build a bridge to your subconscious mind.
Breathing Exercises - Doing awareness breathing exercise can help lower your stress levels as well as ground and center you. Dedicating only 5 minutes a day to focused breathwork can help tremendously when trying to rekindle your intuition.
Connect With Nature - Sometimes all we need is a quiet getaway from the everyday noise of the hustle and bustle. Allowing silence and stillness to rekindle your intuition can be a wonderful method, even more so with the aid of the natural elements.
Practice Divination - Not on other people, of course. I mean, sure you absolutely can, but I highly recommend that you begin with yourself as a means to get familiar with sensing your own energy, which in turn, will make it easier to sense others energy. Especially if you have lost connection with your intuition.
Keep an Intuitive Log - Dedicating a journal, or even a page to your intuition could be very beneficial, as it allows for you to document in order to come back and reflect. You can also log whether your intuitive hunches were true or misleading you,
Think Back to Past Events - Think foreshadowing here. Were there any situations in your past in which you had an intuitive hunch? Did you listen to it? What came of it? This could help you gain more confidence and give yourself more credit for things you may not have put too much thought into in the past.
Get In Touch With Your 5 Senses - When one connects and is aware of their body, a new alignment is formed. This can be a wonderful tool for grounding, and centering as well. This will ultimately help you be in a state of your own energy which will in turn put you in a closer connection to your intuition.
Don’t Doubt Yourself - If you have a hunch about something, instead of brushing it away, focus on it and try to think about where it’s coming from. Maybe the universe is sending you a message. Trust yourself. Start keeping track of those feelings you’re getting. Test them to see if you’re right.
Maintain a Healthy and Balanced Life - When your sleep, eating, hygiene, and other basic mundane routines are in balance and good health, your energy levels are much more up to par. Taking care of yourself in all aspects can have a major effect on one’s personal energy. I highly recommend creating and sticking to a healthy, balanced routine if you find yourself out of order and struggling to connect with yourself.
Conclusion
Well, I guess that pretty much sums up our personal energy sensing & intuition lesson! I truly hope this aids you in connecting with your personal energy. There are countless youtube videos to watch and a ton of other methods to reconnect with your intuition, so if none of these methods worked for you, please research some other ways.

See, the word kinesthetic is just fine; I quite like it. But kinaesthetic reads a bit nicer to me. The reason I still use the former, however, is because I do not want these hands to type “kin aesthetic”.
