*Deidara jumps; not believing his ears. The voice, while perfectly familiar, is one he hasn’t heard in quite a while*

Sasori: *leans against the doorframe, arms folded, smiling* In the flesh. Well, you know.

Deidara: I — I —

Sasori: My god; that’s an incredible dress. But then again you always did have the best taste.

Deidara, not knowing what else to say: I - I don’t know, hm. I mean I can’t figure out these straps at all —

Sasori: *steps over to Deidara* Please, let me help you with that … *goes behind Deidara and starts carefully weaving the sash through the intricate loops*

Deidara: … you know I wasn’t sure if I’d see you today, hm. I mean you never replied when I sent you the wedding invitation.

Sasori: To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I would come. I mean, who wants to see their ex boyfriend getting married to someone else, right?

Deidara: *nervous chuckle* Yeah …

Sasori: But in the end I decided I couldn’t stay away. There’s something I’ve been meaning to say to you, something I HAVE to say to you, and today is the perfect time to do it.

Sasori: *finishes tying off the loops, and Deidara turns slowly to face him*

Deidara: Y-yes?

Sasori: I … I just wanted to say, well … I know I wasn’t the best to you, Deidara. I was cold when you needed warmth, I was distant when you needed closeness. You tried everything to keep our relationship together, and I let it fall to pieces. And … and I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry that I could not be what you deserved.

Deidara, tearing up: Danna …

Sasori: Another thing, I just want you to know that I’m happy for you. I’m so, so happy that you found Obito. That you’re about to build a life with somebody that loves and respects you the way he does. I wish the two of you nothing but the most splendid happiness, my dear.

Deidara: *too overwhelmed to speak; the only thing he can do is put both arms around Sasori and hug him as hard as he can*

Sasori: *smiles and pats Deidara’s back*

Sasori: Okay, that’s enough of that, brat … *carefully uses a handkerchief to wipe the smudged eyeliner from Deidara’s face* You clearly spent a great deal of time on your makeup, no need to ruin it on my account.

Deidara: *smiles and sniffles* Actually not the first time I cried today, hm … I saw the wedding cake earlier and I burst into tears.

Sasori: Really? I mean I know you don’t like sweets but …

Deidara: It’s not that! I mean, seeing the cake meant that today was REAL, hm. That it was gonna happen. Obito is going to be my husband; the whole thing just feels surreal, hm.

Sasori, smiling: Ah. Well, yes, today is going to happen. And it’s going to be the best day of your life. But you know what?

Deidara: What?

Sasori: *smiles and offers his arm* The best day of your life can’t start until you leave this room, and to be honest I’m worried about you navigating the stairs in those heels. Allow me to help?

Deidara: *takes Sasori’s arm* Thank you, Danna —

Sasori: I require one favor, though, in exchange.

Deidara: Which is?

Sasori, grinning: Name your first kid after me.

He doesn’t sleep, doesn’t eat, doesn’t even need to breathe; yet he’s the one you choose to let screw you so hard that all, and I do mean ALL, of us are kept up by your bed hitting the wall every damn night.

I used to ship sasodei (kinda still 'in-canon'), but imagine Sasori and Deidara in a dynamic more like father-son is so cute (especially considering their age gap, tho...)

The best dynamic for me is art master with little patience and his accidentally acquired student who actually does whatever he wants (and usually the opposite of what his respectable teacher tells him to do). You know the "everyone recognizes this man's skills BUT his student/younger companion" trope or whatever it is called? That's SasoDei in my heart!

Funny how no one ever gave naruto shit for having kakashi hold him back from doing stupid shit and helping him out all the time during gaara rescue arc, while sakura was saving kankuro, destroying boulders and fighting sasori all while being rational about sasori having more fighting experience than her and teaming up with chiyo to kill him. Thats how she scored herself the first akatsuki member kill of the show... hard work and smarts.

Also it was made known that she studied itachi to better understand sasuke during the time skip and teared up when hearing about jinchuriki from chiyo. She really put in a lot of work to keep up with naruto and sasuke. Kinda unfair to judge her while she was kept in the dark about naruto and had to connect the dots herself. And then utilized everything she learned from tsunade - both medical jutsu and super-strength, while keeping her wits about her.

Also this arc highlight must be sasodei banter over the meaning on art while dei is promptly sitting on top of gaaras body. Gaara was really THE damsel in distress in this one.

Sry if this is old news btw. I'm rewatching.

Ageswap MobRei reminds me so much of (my) modern!AU SasoDeis.

Both is an emotionally stunted older guy with a capacity for cruelty who probably has killed more people than he has kissed (intentionally or not) & a loud blond brat from unstable circumstances who runs right into his arms without the slightest concern. And even after noticing the risks he's somehow determined to stay right there. While the gloomy guy who didn't want him around at all at first developes a dangerous and possessive kind of protectiveness for him.

They're kinda the same to me

Hey, I am really eager to see what you will be posting for the Sasori week (shipping work or not). I must confess that I am waiting eagerly for the Time / Kazekage (especially the Kazekage part) day. I generally like the Sasori as Kazekage!AU but considering the crumbs you have left in your fic about Sasori and the third Kazekage relationship I'm kinda hoping you might have written something about them... Thank you!! I'm very excited about Sasori Week, both for the stuff I'm writing and to see all the things everyone else will be submitting. I really hope the event gets some good participation and attention, and it does seem like that will happen based on the notes and engagement the original post has been getting, so fingers crossed.

Sasodei week day 6: touch starved

This is my favourite piece that i made for the event! I'm kinda obsessed with exploring how reanimated Sasori would deal with being human again after so much time.

He is overwhelmed by feelings he can't quite self regulate (i also hc that before turning himself into a puppet, he was very sensitive, and it was something he hated about himself). And Deidara is absolutely not used to see him being so emotional, asking him for confort and above all things, rabidly begging him for physical contact (but he is here for it).
