So I was re-reading those the current chapters of ‘Those Kinds of Friends’ while listening to music and I am begging for you to listen to She Is She Is a Lady by Ricky Montgomery because it fits so so well with what you’ve written so far and I need to hear your thoughts!!

I just listened to it and I love it!!! I totally see the parallels - particularly loved the ‘all my emotions/feel like explosions when you are around/and I've found a way to kill the sounds’ because that’s peak Jughead. His brain’s imploding and he’s just like ‘cool cool cool cool cool I’m going to mute this’ and then the ‘was it something I said to make you feel like you're a burden?’ bit made me think of the part where he realizes how shitty his whole avoidance routine was. Such a great song!

Hey! I just found your blog when surfing the LIW tag and I had a question for you! I missed the boat on a lot of the Iconic LIWs (with the exception of Green Gable Fables) and I was wondering if you knew of any that are currently airing or are about to begin? Or am I completely too late and doomed to rewatch my old faves and be sad that I wasn't able to live through them when they started forever?

Hi! Always glad to welcome new people!

Well, the last episode of Public History is about to air, and I highly recommend watching the whole show. It’s an adaptation of David Copperfield, and there are two seasons. Other than that, I don’t think anything else has been airing for a while and probably won’t anytime soon due to the pandemic and all. HOWEVER, if you haven’t already, you should definitely go watch season one of Rational Creatures cause we’re going to get the rest of the story as soon as the creators can make it happen.

Maybe if we ever get a post-pandemic world (sorry for the pessimism), we’ll get some more LIWs. I have and Iliad adaptation I’ve been trying to make for... two years now? So if it ever actually happens I will talk about it here. Generally, though, I feel like this community needs new people and new ideas or it’s just going to die.

If you want to get involved in a new LIW thing, I’m gonna plug the podcast Jules of @quipmodestproductions and I recently started called It’s Super Important where we’re watching or rewatching LIWs and discussing them. We just finished Elinor and Marianne Take Barton and now we’re watching Jules and Monty, and after that we’re planning to dive into some of the more popular/iconic shows, so at least we’ll be rewatching them together and not alone! You can listen to that on Spotify or wherever else you get your podcasts.

2021 Fic Recs

Alright, this year SUCKED- except for the fic! I don't wanna dwell on the misery that was this whole year, but I do wanna celebrate some really talented authors who kept me going this year. So here are 21 of my favorite fics from 2021 :D

They're all from assorted fandoms and authors, and different ratings/ genres. The only hard rule here is that they were all completed in 2021. So no WIPS here!

Here they are, in no particular order!

First off, some Halbarry:

The world’s ridiculous, and Hal’s going to tell Barry all about it. Oh, and hopefully they'll get together at some point.

It’s not like Hal really has a plan, but that's never stopped him before. Let the whining and dining commence!

Will-they-won't-they-should-they-shouldn't-they, could-they-would-they-will-they, the five times Hal and Barry almost and the one time they did.

It goes like this: Hal can't stop looking in broken mirrors, and Barry can't stop with the what-ifs, and together they can overcome death but somehow intimacy draws them up short.

Hal’s report is simple. The Guardians tried to make some upgrades to the Central Power Battery, and they went awry. All Green Lanterns are, currently, at the mercy of their emotions - ones that are, in fact, amplified by that fuck-up with the Power Battery, and perfectly visible through the rings.

Barry decides to keep him company while he's under lockdown, and Hal's ring decides to force his heart onto his sleeve.

A guy that is staring at Steve and smiling. 'Um, hi,' Steve says, breathless and fumbling to sit back on the stool behind him, 'Uhh...' He's trying to speak but his brain won't cooperate.

'Oh, he's shy,' the guys says, stepping into Steve's space. He makes an elegant hand gesture to the bartender and then leans his body into the bar, 'Must be my lucky day.'

An AU where Steve and Bucky have a forgotten history, an undeniable attraction, and are about to lose everything except each other.
