The 4 Hobbits: *exist*
The rest of the Fellowship: We’ve only had the hobbits for five minutes but if anything happened to them we’d kill everyone in Middle-Earth and then ourselves

I gotta take a second to praise Viggo Mortensen’s delivery of “…For Frodo.” The whisper, the tears, the love, the loyalty, the hope, the courage, the resilience, the humility of acknowledging that despite being king he is not the main character in this story… all in two little words. Just perfect. I believe Tolkien would’ve approved.

28 December 2023
happy three years anniversary to me since I’ve joined LOTR fandom! 🥰🧝🏻‍♂️🤴🏻🎄✨
Owing to stressful circumstances (and somewhat depressing,I’m not happy about it) I didn’t draw much in this year but I haven‘t given up on drawing or burnt out. I’d say thank you for every comments, likes, and share. It means a lot to me. I’ll keep practicing and painting 🙏🏻🥹
Next year I want to draw more fan arts, and original contents

Exactly WHEN someone would have the kindness to tell me that Sam made Passage over the Sea to Valinor? EXACTLY WHEN?
ARE YA'LL GOING TO SIT THERE AND TELL ME I'D FIND THIS OUT WHILE READING THE FUCKING THE YEARS AFTER THE RING WAR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FELLOWSHIP OF RHE RING?????
HOW ARAGORN FINALLY KICKED THE BUCKET? HOW PIPPIN AND MERRY WERE ACTUALLY DEAD AND BURIED IN GONDOR AND THEY WERE PLACED BESIDES ARAGORN BODY?
HOW ARWEN WAS SO SAD THAT SHE WENT TO LORIEN, BUT NO ONE WAS THERE, AND SHE DIED ALONE BY THE RIVER AND HER GRAVE IS STILL THERE???
HOW SAM PASSED THE RED BOOK TO HIS DAUGHTER AND WENT TO VALINOR, BECAUSE HE WAS THE RING BEARER BUT ALSO BECAUSE FRODO COULDN'T GO TO A PLACE SO FAR WAY THAT HIS SAM COULDN'T FOLLOW.
OR HOW LEGOLAS ALSO WENT TO VALINOR AFTER ARAGORN'S DEATH AND TOOK GIMLI WITH HIM, BECAUSE THEY LOVED EACH SO FUCKING MUCH?
I'm so sick with grief that i just might cry the whole night about how theses friends loved each other so much.

The fact that Celeborn refers to the love of his life as his treasure and refers to Arwen as Aragorn’s treasure … a trend picked up by Elanor who refers to Frodo as Sam’s treasure … it reminds me of how Thorin sought literal treasure but ultimately valued Bilbo above it all … who knows if that’s actually the source of this term for the great romances of the Third Age.

"For Frodo"
2023
Tumblr media
The Men of the West were trapped, and soon, all about the grey mounds where they stood, forces ten times and more than ten times their match would ring them in a sea of enemies. Sauron had taken the proffered bait in jaws of steel.
-"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", by J.R.R. Tolkien
There are two great, epic battle charges in Return of the King: the Ride of the Rohirrim is the first one, and this is the second. The Fellowship of the Ring, gathered with what little remains of their forces, making one last, defiant stand in what can only be described as the gates of Hell itself. Not for themselves, but for Frodo and his Quest at the heart of the Enemy's land.
I have seen some book purists complain that Mount Doom and Barad-dûr should not be discernible from the Black Gate, but I for one love this change. It makes it more daunting to have the Dark Tower loom high above Aragorn and his army, with the Eye of Sauron staring right at them. Subsequently, it makes their charge right towards it all the more brave, and epic, and badass.

One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar Winners
The Return of the King / Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn (King Elessar)
Year: 2003
Designers: Ngila Dickson and Richard Taylor
I think everybody knows that the awards for this movie are kind of unofficial acknowledgements of the whole trilogy retroactively, but I did want to feature something from the actual third movie. There aren't too many new costumes in it, and most of the women's costumes have been covered in other posts. But the armorers outdid themselves with Aragorn's coronation armor. The detail really shows up on the screen.
The breastplate shows the symbol of the seven stars over the white tree in flower. At the top appears to be Tolkien's own design for the crown of Gondor (see below), which was just a repurposed war helmet. The actual crown that Aragorn wears is much nicer looking, but I'm a bit surprised they deviated from the book on this. Usually they tried hard to follow the book descriptions even when it might look silly--for example, their interpretation of the "wings of seabirds" on the helmets of the tower guard. (I personally don't think they got that right, but still, they weren't afraid of looking goofy.)
