It had been a long time since Amity Park had ceased to exist, the bustling Midwestern town being deserted in favor of newer, better-organized towns. Of course there were some houses and old people, but it was not what it had been in the past.
The portal had long since closed, the Fenton's structure as a museum to eccentric inventors of the past, but most importantly, in the town cemetery there was a well-tended grave surrendered by flowers and a carved stone ghost. This grave was engraved as "Daniel James Fenton beloved son, friend and brother, protector even in death", right in front of that grave, as if they shared the same space, there was another one that said "Phantom, long lost hero, give yourself a rest kiddo"
This would not have been important in any other situation, but it was relevant when Darkseid changed his trajectory, landed in the old town and began his attack immediately.
Although evacuating the civilians was somewhat difficult, no one expected the battle to turn around when Darkseid stopped at the Amity Park Cemetery, destroying the tombstone of "Daniel James Fenton" and "Phantom", at the same time, Darkseid couldn't care less about disrespecting the death; at that very moment the tomb began to glow a radioactive green and an angry ghost raised from his interrupted rest to destroy the threat that dared to set foot on his resting places.

Unhinged tlt theories until I get Alecto news: day 3
Somewhere in the deep archives of the Sixth is a copy of the King James Bible. Specifically that one — no one’s quite sure who King James is, but the Bible is one of the greatest novels ever written, depicting metaphors. Every child studies it to learn metaphor — they’re pretty sure that Jesus is a metaphor for the Resurrection, and the apostles are the cavaliers. Maybe Jesus is a necromancer, they aren’t sure.
Of course, when Kiriona showed up, it turned into an academic disaster, every theory they ever had about Jesus is thrown into to flux, a generation of scholars are pissed to have to redo all of their projects, and suddenly maybe Jesus is a metaphor for the intense power held by the Tower Prince. But then what does that make the apostles? The houses? The cohort? They aren’t really sure.
John finds this entire situation hilarious and sends them a file box of Jesus Rock, pamphlets from other sects, and a different Bible. This is the greatest mystery of the millennia

So why am I JUST putting it together that Tamsyn Muir is interested in Arthurian legend and then wrote a series about a sleeping corpse in a locked tomb destined to awake and change the world?
