At the risk of starting a discourse, but it is odd how the prevalence of same sex ships is swapped in western cartoons.

Like, m/m ships are in general more visable and prevalent in western culture than f/f both in terms of couples established canon and fandom shiping.

However looking at the cartoon/western animation scene recently, Sapphic Ships are far more prevalent. Korrasami, Bubbline, Lumity, Ruby/Sapphire, Catradora, Harlivy, Rose/Jukela etc. There is a relative shortage of m/m shipping. Gumlee (which ofc is genderswapped Bubbline), Troy/Benson in Kipo, Marc/Nathaniel. There are more but you pretty quickly are digging into background characters or relatively small fandoms. F/f ships are absolutely more likely to get big in the cartoon fandom.

This is by no means exhaustive of course, and also by no means a criticism. Just an interesting inversion of the typical fandom dynamics.

Hey! I'm still into kipo, it's a great cartoon that I obsessed over during covid lockdown! I don't draw as much of it these days because I don't really have any ideas on what to draw, but that could always change... >:)

Hello ☀️ What is some solarpunk media you'd recommend? Like movies, books, shows etc?

Oooh good stuff!

The hunger games - book particularly- as a teen super good angst and realizing it's v similar to the system we suffer in already is good

V for Vendetta - we all saw my obsession with this as apart of Reaping week. There is something so hopeful about ppl overcoming their deeply religious and fascist country en mass and blowing up their government!

Moxie - I haven't seen the movie, but as someone who was really into Riot grrrls it was awesome to have a book about the movement and how to make zines and have courage in a small town. Here's an example from the earlier half of the book!

Star trek/The Orville- futuristic settings post scarcity and with beautiful diversity and abilities both if these guys are awesome tv shows. Personally I prefer any star trek with Data in it (that's bc I'm autistic tho) season 1, ep 7 of The Orville actually is a very smart and fun episode critiquing modern capitalism and direct democracy

Jericho- there's only 1 season of it before its continued as a comic, but it's a legit post apocalypse about a small town dealing with the fall out of a nuclear explosions across the country. Things like, electricity isn't around anymore and how to reestablish trading posts once the government implodes on itself. Neighbors rationing food for winter, towns swapping food supplies for wind turbines. Awesome stuff!!!

Kipo - again post apocalypse but with music and hope and love! A lot of focus on friendship and building a better more inclusive world.

And then in the fantasy section of books, anything from Discworld or Earthsea!

I of course have more just the top of my head have fun!!!

Idk If this is a thing already...

But with all the ROTTMNT AUs I was wondering... What would a Human and Yokai swap look like?

And I don't mean like a story where Draxum took over or a Bad end to humans.

I mean like... Since the beginning of time Yokai have been the normal and Humans are the rare beings who live in their Hidden Cities.

I don't know if Yokai would still have their magic or not, but I do like the ideas of humans not having magic, but they invent machines and use mystic properties to make "magic" to match the Yokai, because they feel weaker than the Yokai.

When I think about how humans live, I think of Kipo and the Age of wilderbeasts, but also ATLA with the humans living on the Turtle lion's back while Spirits live all over the place? If that makes sense. I don't think there was a big war or apocalypse that caused it for them though, they just were scared so hid, and now they fear Yokai and wish to spread out more, but can't.

Idk it just sounds like a fun idea, but also really confusing! Like would the Turtles be human or not? Or what about how they were mutated and why?

If I do make this an AU, I need to actually think up how this could work. XD

Just decided to share ideas.

I’m going to do an art style challenge for the next little while. This is mostly for fun, but I think it will also help me learn other drawing styles.

Below is a list of my favorite animated female characters (A-Z) I made a rule that I could only use one character for each show, so some of them aren’t my overall favorites, just ones that fit the alphabet.

Every time I do a drawing, I’ll randomly generate a number between 1-26 to determine the character, then the style they’ll be drawn in. If I feel like doing this challenge again, I also have a list of male characters!

For about a month I’ve been doing some art style swaps for Cassie, though admittedly I got a bit carried away with how many art styles from shows I know xD If I ever do more of these later, I’ll still have quite a few to choose from! Still a fun exercise in studying the limitations and rules of each style. I think if Wolf was part mute she would not be an actual wolf, cause that just feels wrong with how much she h a t e s them?? I always liked a ram (sheep in wolf's clothing, aries related, curly hair, etc) or a scorpion better. Idk maybe that was just me

I like the idea of Wolf as a wolf mute but the au has to be very different to canon, I remember making a wolf mute Wolf design once with the idea in mind that her role was swapped with Kipos and therefore she didn't have to go through the horrid wolf sister betrayel, and instead became part of their group in the same way Kipo did with the timbercats. In this au kipo would've been human and may have even been betrayed by the timbercats instead, but I never really got that far into the story.

Otherwise the idea of a au that stays closer to canon would definitely work better with a sheep mute Wolf! And the ram idea is interesting because of the ram being Kipos (and then later Wolfs) birth/zodiac symbol like you've already briefly mentioned! I've actually already got a much older post that covers this too :)

Team Jennifer Watch Party

Hey everyone,

So as I have mentioned a few times now, @casualfunchaos is hosting a watch party for various shows in the Team Jennifer discord server, including The Owl House of course.

Originally, they were just running one at 12 noon CST every Tuesday but to accommodate members of the server in the Americas, they are also now running one at 6pm CST.

We are presently watching through The Owl House and while 12 noon CST watch party has now made it all the way through Season 1, the 6pm CST watch party has only made it up to “Lost in Language”. Due to this next week we are gonna be skipping the 12 noon CST watch party until both watch parties are watching the exact same thing.
