Been watching Adventures of Superman again and I swear that one day I will actually write some more Jimmy/Supes because I never understand why the internet is not creaking under the strain of hosting so much ship content. I mean, just look at them! xD
I always wanted to do a kind of goofy 1950s story where Lex is editor of the Metropolis equivalent of Confidential magazine. Like, they're stealing readers from the Planet, beating them to all the latest gossipl news, so you'd have that kind of boardroom tension of 'should we lower our standards and print more of this rubbish' (think '52 Scandal Sheet- esque), while Jimmy's literal Superman fanclub is just an invitation for Lex to run a story on the flamboyance of the Man of Steel...
Plus a grittier 1940s set fic - think noir LA - with Jimmy being more of your typical wisecracking reporter and naïve country boy Clark/Superman being newly arrived in Metropolis. (Kirk Alyn & Tommy Bond vibes, I guess.) Who else are you gonna suspect of a string of vicious murders when you've got a caped weirdo with apparently super human powers?
