I'm a musical theater fan and Elle and Emmett's relationship is so much more developed and considered in the musical than in the movie.

They have an ARC. It's ADORABLE. Emmett is the one to really help Elle get grounded and focused on doing well in school rather than impressing Warner. 

Emmett was the only one to respect her when she arrived at Harvard, which is why he helps her focus. He saw her potential INSTANTLY, and made her feel welcome despite everyone else saying she didn't belong. 

She was SO HAPPY for him when Callahan offered the associate position to Emmett just like he was for her when she got the internship its amazing 

He doesn't take credit for her success. He knew she had it in her and he just helped her see it. He says he "happy to be there" when seeing her thrive, it's amazing the amount of respect Emmett has for her.

Their on stage chemistry was SO GOOD, Laura Bell Bundy and Christian Borle (the actors) had a real life affair with each other.

How many fics have you written? 235

When did you publish your first fic on AO3? 

Fall of 2013.  I don’t know the exact date because I had to delete my first one from A03 - it was a Glee fic and I had used too much of a song so they messaged me about it, and I was too embarrassed to simply edit it.

Describe your writing process from “Oh, I have an idea” to pushing publish on AO3. 

This varies.  Sometimes I am seized with an idea and I simply can’t stop writing - for those fics, I move from the idea to posting within a day or two.  For longer fics, or fics written for challenges, the process moves a bit more slowly.  With multi-chapter fics I have begun to have a few organizing documents, so I keep track of what happens in each chapter.  This was particularly important in my Schitt’s Creek Legally Blond AU, So Much Better, because I was trying really hard to match up the fic with the songs from the show.  I think I succeeded pretty well!

Tell me about your most recent fic? What do you love about it? Is there anything you think you could have done better? 

My most recent fic, Apples and Honey, is kind of an outlier. It is the only Kirk/Spock fic I have ever written, and it’s also pretty niche because it’s about Rosh Hashanah.  But I have recently started reading a lot of Star Trek fic and I was thinking alot about it right around the Jewish High Holidays, and I didn’t want to break my streak of posting a High Holiday fic (previous ones were David x Patrick, and Good Omens), and it just happened.  I kind of love it, in part because I admire how Leonard Nimoy’s Jewish identity influenced his character, and I think that worked nicely in the fic.  As far as what I could have done better - I try not to spend too much time worrying about that.  If what I write makes me happy, then I’m good.

What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about publishing their fic for the first time? 

Just do it.  Honestly.  There’s no reason at all not to, and so many reasons to go for it.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you about writing? 

It’s the same as my answer to question #6 - just do it.

How has writing fic changed you? 

It has given me the confidence to understand and explore my own creativity.  And brought me a lot of joy.

Six Paragraph Sunday

Lol, I didn’t feel like scouring my WIP for six sentences that would convey anything meaningful.  So you get six short paragraphs!  This is for my Legally Blonde AU.  Jim, Jim, Jim, what are you up to?

Jim stared up at the lettering above the gold-trimmed doorway.  Kelvin Memorial Archive.  He took a deep breath and went through the door leading inside.  There was a welcome desk, behind which sat a yeoman. He went up to the desk and put on his most charming smile.  “Good morning. I’m Cadet James T. Kirk here on business for the Judge Advocate General. I’d like to speak to whoever’s in charge.”

 She gave him a condescending smile.  “I’m afraid we’re closed to visitors while repairs are being made to the building.”

 Jim kept his smile in place, but his tone became firmer.  “I’m not a visitor.  I’m here on official JAG business.  Who is the head of operations?”

 She raised her eyebrows.  “That’s classified.  And if you were really here on business, you wouldn’t need to know their name, would you?”

 Jim’s own eyebrows shot up.  “Why would the head of an archive be classified?”
