Kagi no Kakatta Heya - this got my interest because of the main cast but it definitely became one of my favorites that I still rewatch even to this day Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Drama Main Cast: Ohno Satoshi, Toda Erika, Sato Koichi

Good Doctor - this one originated from Kdrama of the same title, I watched the Korean and US versions so I can definitely say that this version has a different flavor to offer Genre: Life, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Yamazaki Kento, Ueno Juri, Fujiki Naohito

Mystery to Iunakare - I posted this one before and I even read the manga, the mysteries are not that mind-blowing but the main character is very interesting. this will have a movie that will feature one of the arcs in the manga and I am also looking forward to it. ^^ Genre: Mystery, Psychological, Life, Drama Main Cast: Suda Masaki

Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito - the MC is also interesting, he had an accident in the past that lead to losing all his senses except his sense of sight and he is using his ability as a private detective. this has 2 seasons by the way so if ever you're going to watch this and enjoyed watching the first season, you might as well check season 2 Genre: Mystery, Drama, Supernatural Main Cast: Matsuzaka Tori, Tabe Mikako, Hamada Gaku, Sumida Moeno

Nobunaga Concerto - this one's based on manga, I never read the manga or watched the anime so maybe this could be another reason why I appreciated the live-action version but if you haven't read or watched the animanga, you can give this a try too Genre: Action, Military, Historical, Comedy Main Cast: Oguri Shun, Shibasaki Ko

3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu - you can watch this on Netflix, this is also a very good series Genre: Action, Thriller, Mystery, Psychological Main Cast: Suda Masaki, Nagano Mei

99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi - MC is also weird so it got me, I have a thing for characters that are too weird but too good in what they do. this has season 2 as well ^^ Genre: Mystery, Comedy, Law Main Cast: Matsumoto Jun, Kagawa Teruyuki, Eikura Nana

Radiation House - this is also based on manga, I've read only a few chapters but I think the series was also well-made, there's romance but not to the point that it would go off the actual plot Genre: Mystery, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice

Bokura wa Kiseki de Dekite Iru - now this one could be a total hit or a total miss for you, some find it boring but I really loved this series, if you are fine with watching a pure slice of life drama, you might also like this one, the MC is also eccentric which also became one of the main element of the story Genre: Life, Drama Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice

My review for Kuro no Kiseki (with Spreadsheet) Part 2

I continue with my littler interview-style review of Kuro no Kiseki - please be aware of spoiler!

12. On a more serious note: Lets talk a bit more about technical stuff. Graphics, loading-times and so on. How where they?

For Trails-Standarts the graphics definitely improved since Hajimari. They’ve also done a lot more with the “vanishing” or “impaling” Hair-issue. Some questionable “wind” - animation for the hair was there too. We now have a door-opening Animation and I think even more small details. Its not like a big fat jump, but certainly the graphics have all in all improved. I would give it a 4,5 out of 5 points. So... loading times? Oh, they were really bad sometimes. Especially when we were jumping between cutscenes. Sometimes I was wondering if I could quickyl browse facebook while I wait, to be honest. To top it off, when you teleport to another part of the city, the game takes AGES to spawn NPCs and some furniture. It was not a big issue, but it was still annoying at times. So 3 out of 5 points.

13. How was the new battle-system?

I absolutely love the idea behind giving us a “quick” hack and slash option or do the good old turn-based battle-system that we all are so used too. However... as I suck at hack and slash fighting, I didn’t really use it very often - but its my problem, not their mistake. I also like the new interface of the battle-system. There is more to the battle-system too, with the shards and everything but do to my lack of skills in reading Japanese, I couldn’t really test it, and thus it would be unfair to give or take points for it. (That is something to keep in mind, I played the Japanese version with only the help of the spreadsheet, so it could be that my view on the game might change after the English version is out.) The only thing I found slightly confusing was the graphic that showed you whos turn it is. Do to the fact that it was enemies on one side and our team on the other, I wasn’t always sure whos turn it is. But it was just a minor issue that I will not take points off for. So 5 of 5 points here.

14: How was the music?

At first I found it really good, this is Falcom after all. But they have only a few really good tracks and some of them were almost as overused as the 5 different version of “A song of Storm and Fire” from Tsubasa Resoirvar Chronicles, if you get me ^^’ In one certain point of the game they used an often used song in a situation were it just didn’t feel right at all. I was honestly a bit disappointed. But its not like the music was bad per se, I am just used to something better. So I give 4 out of 5 points.

15: You’ve already said you liked the characters, so full points for them?

ALMOST full points, because I disliked that there are still characters that we don’t know much about in our team, or people who still keep secrets from us. I felt like in the other games all of their most important informations and secrets were revealed in the first game, while this time, I feel like there are some more twists and turns coming for us in Kuro and I don’t know if I like that about my main team-members. I mean, that could very well be part of being a Spriggan, I mean, Van also kept a hell ton of secrets from us until the very end, so in the grey area we are in, we maybe all keep our secrets a bit longer and all, but it gives me some serious issues. Also:

I can not say I feel very happy about this guy playing dead just to put his burden on Gaius and keeping the fact that he is alive away from him for over 2 years. In the end it does make the church look even more shady, given that it seems like Eien at least knew about that, it was possible even planned. However... Barkhorn (mostly called Master, he has given himself a new name now tho) is not a bad character per se. So... whatever. (Tho its funny, right? Because he technically speaking died in the Cold Steel Saga and thus we should not be surprised that he is actually not dead, because NO ONE ever dies in Cold Steel XD) Anyway... As I said before, I really liked the characters and also their chemistry with each other, idividually and as a team. Its a well evened out team and they do deal with each others secrets just fine and everything. So all in all I think I give the character 4,5 out of 5 points.

16: How was the pacing?

Ah... yes... I had some issues with the pacing. A portion of it was do to the spreadsheet making me talk to what felt like (but wasn’t) every random NPC in town all the time and sometimes just overdoing it a slight bit. Another portion of it was do to the fact that the plot didn’t really kick in until around the early middle of chapter 3 (which is no surprise, especially not for a “first” game in an Arc) so whenever something happened, it didn’t feel important, interesting or exiting enough to make up for all the walking and talking and running around in different districts we had to do in our side-missions and even some of the non-optional missions. It got bather then tho, because the plot got better and I slowly but surely got used to jumping around, talking to different people more then anything else. There is one other thing tho, that caused that pacing-issue I had and that was that the opportunity to fight while doing a mission or while on the way to the next mission, like it was often in previous games do to crossing some highways and stuff, was missing. The balance between fighting and walking and talking was just very bad in this game, especially in the rather boring first chapters. I got used to it eventually, but its still something I want to criticize, because it was a nice change of pace back in the other day, to do something else in between the walking and talking and jumping around. In this game, it was usually either “Talk to 5000 people in 10 different parts of the city, jumping back and forth a few times, to fulfill a mission” and if not it was usually a fullout “Get into that dungeon and kill that monster at the very end, without any walking and talking” kind of mission. There was hardly anything more balanced in between. That also took away some chances to level up properly, forcing my to freaking grind (I almost never do this) in the desert, because that seemed to be the only place where it was possible. Once again, I got used to it eventually, but it was still a sometimes rather annoying issue. Otherwise, the pacing was okay. So 4 out of 5 points this time.

17: And the plot?

Once again, the plot started rather slow, but it is the first installment in a new saga, which usually takes some time introducing the characters, the new country, the politics, the job our main character works in and how he works said job, some first relationships need to be introduced and build up and so on. That takes some time and even tho it is necessary, its often boring and thus causes the feeling of a rather slow start. But its normal and I should not take too much points away from the game because of it. The plot got interesting around chapter 3 didn’t let up since then. They dragged on the final chapter a bit, but made sure to have lots of twists and turns in it. So its fine. I would give it 4,5 out of 5 points.

18: How was the start and how was the ending?

Okayisch, I guess. Falcom doesn’t know how to make good prologues... but the Epilogue was fine. The final chapter got a bit of the “Ao” - Problem, which was solving a big problem way to easily, but that aside it had lots of twists and turns and surprises and shocks and so I think it was fine. Tho I didn’t really feel satisfied afterwards... but that is because its obviously just not the real end.

So... on my other Tumblr I said I give this game 9 out of 10 points, but looking at this, I guess 8,5 out of 10 are currently more accurate. Which still speaks of a goodisch, nice game.
