living in a college dorm is so wild. i walked in last night after being out and there was just a group of people in my kitchen. i did not recognize any of them. a girl i don’t know slept on my couch last night. my roommate and i sat on the other couch during the day reading while she laid there and watched girl meets world on her laptop. just now i was eating breakfast and a new roommate came in bringing a train of people after her (her family, all carrying totes and bags to help her move in), and then i had to sit their awkwardly eating as they stood around like 10 feet away talking to each other

#once i walked into the apartment beneath mine #this girl opened the door after i was struggling with the keypad and i just breezed past her with a ‘thanks :)’#having random people in my apartment is so normal i didn’t even think twice #until i didn’t recognize the kitchen towels and the living room decorations #at which point i paused #looked back at the girl who let me in (who was just as confused as i was)#and went ‘…this is not my apartment’#this was last semester #wild #my apartment isn’t even that social #the complex behind us is famously social. they often leave their doors wide open as an invitation for neighbors to just come hang out #my family are all either homebodies or lack the motivation to have people over all the time so i’m not used to this at all

Flour sack dish towels are called “flour sack” because they are modeled after the thin cotton bags that flour and grain used to be packed in, which were re-used as towels.
