Hello mother I just wanted to know how you got into makeup and how u got so good at it and if u have any mua recommendations bc it's a little tricky finding any for Chinese people!! Kiss kiss love u & thank u

hi baby!! and ugh oh boy well first off I don’t…..actually wear that much makeup? my everyday go to is a brow (yes just one hfkdj nah jk two) eyeliner and lipstick. if I’m feeling in the mood then I’ll highlight and if I’m reeeeally in the mood then I do eyeshadow and blush up a bit too

if you want like….the actual whole history….my mom (mama saltenecker) bought me an eyeshadow palette in gr8 to practice for grad loool but I don’t think that’s what you’re asking about

when I was younger though I did watch quite a bit of michelle phan and bubzbeauty. at that point I wasn’t like actually really into makeup yet I mainly just watched their videos bc they were pretty to watch y'know? (they’re still really good tho you should still check them out) I think a lot of how I do my makeup now actually stems from my……past as a kpop fan fhsjdhk oh god

bc okay the biggest differences with makeup is the eyes right? with lips you just cover them with whatever colour but with eyes you have a certain shape and with brows you’ve gotta FIND a shape and…..I’m not gonna lie but you can find a lot of those shapes in kpop idols. whether you’ve got monolids or double lids (I’m double lidded) you can find them both in kpop (in the past they had really crazy looks but the makeup is a lot more wearable nowadays lmao)

strictly speaking about eyeliner, you do weird shit and learn from them. like I’ve gone through a HUGE puppy dog eye phase and I’ve also done the thick black line on the corners (SHUDDERS oh jesus…..oh jesus that wasn’t cute……) and I’ve tried cat eyes on and off bc they can be cute and make you look alert but they’re tedious and ironically enough I’m Tired….. I currently just follow the shape of my eye (heavily influenced by minah in c-clown’s shaking heart mv at 1:21) I’ve tried pencil liner and liquid and gel as well but right now I just use brown or deep purple eyeshadow (NEEEEVER ASSUME THAT MAKEUP IS SINGLE PURPOSE. I DON’T OWN ANY HIGHLIGHT OR BLUSH EITHER BUT I HAVE SOFT AND SHIMMERY EYESHADOWS AND LIPSTICKS THAT LOOK CUTE ON THE CHEEK)

brows tho? in kpop you’ll prooobably only find straight brows and oh god for a while when I first started experimenting with my brows (gr11ish?) it was TERRIBLE. jesus don’t overlook the task of plucking your brows AND DON’T PLUCK THE WRONGS ONES DAMMIT. I had no idea what I was doing back then and now live with regret :(

but anyway my brows now aren’t straight either but I wouldn’t say they’re angular the way they usually are in western culture. personally I think the best brow look for anyone is just however it grows naturally for you (and then refined via plucking if necessary) but ofc it’s 100% your own choice and you’re 100% allowed to experiment until you find the look that you like best

in fact that applies to everything with makeup. you ask me how I got “so good” at it but I’ve been playing around with makeup since I was in gr8 (eight years of makeup) and believe me when I say there have been more bad days than good. it really is just poking and prodding at things and figuring out what looks good on you and what doesn’t and what you feel comfortable wearing

if you really do want some asian mua’s tho I know pony is really popular and I’ve seen sichenmakeupholic in my recs sometimes. tina yong is also an mua who does a lot of reviews

anyway in conclusion just fuck around and experiment and find looks to inspire you! hope this was helpful baby

Face cast complete! @vanillaguard helped me make a mold of my face last night and oh boy was it weird! But now I have a replica of me that I can sculpt my mask/prosthetic on top of for my surprise cosplay! Oooooooh so secretive! What could it be?? Here’s a hint: Fantasy . I used @klairedelys and @stuartbray73 tutorial for this, so I highly recommend you find that video on YouTube, but I’ll give you a quick rundown on the steps. 1. Get a friend to coat your face in alginate. But not your nostrils. You need to breathe. 2. Once the alginate has set, cover it in plaster bandages 3. Wait for an eternity for the bandages to set up and wiggle your face out of the mold 4. Squish some more alginate into the nose holes and add another bandage 5. Set the mold into a bowl or box and fill it up with plaster 6. Once the plaster sets up, free your face from the mold and sand off any unevenness and you’re done! . The nose got a little squished on mine, but it’s no big! I can’t wait for all of my sculpting and mold making materials to come so I can really get started! . #sfx #sfxmakeup #facecast #lifecast #cosplay
