RWBY x MORTAL KOMBAT KHARACTER: JOHNNY CAGE

Bio: John Van Dalen, better known by his stage name Johnny Cage, was born into a comfortable life in Vale, and took an interest in the arts from a young age. Much of his childhood was spent watching movies, helping with his school’s theater, and learning martial arts. One night, Johnny unlocked his semblance when his mother’s life was put in danger when a Black Dragon thug tried to rob his mother. After this, he decided to become a movie star and use his semblance to augment his martial arts as a draw for the audience. He quickly became a success, having starred in several major hits, until his career was derailed by the godawful movie Ninja Mime. Johnny continued on a downward spiral before stumbling across a Lin Kuei assassination attempt against Ozpin. After he teamed up with Qrow to stop it, Ozpin decided to bring him into the White Lotus due to sensing his potential to be a hero. Now, Johnny serves as a benefactor, fighter and general comic relief for the forces of light.

...Oh. Oh dear.

So, to put it lightly, my source's fandom is very much not happy with the state of things at the moment.

A new "season" was released today in the game, which means new skins. Every season has a character it's based on, and this season happened to be Mileena's. Everybody was looking forward to this new season, as they were all expecting pretty pink palettes paired with sharp Tarkatan teeth, much like Mileena herself, and since the last season (Sub-Zero's) was generally disliked by people for many reasons (including but not limited to whitewashing), the fandom was welcoming the change of pace.

As it turns out, NRS didn't even have skins prepared for Mileena's season, so they used skins for Havik's upcoming season instead. They look... bad. The palette colors are ugly (green and orange?), everyone has been given strange green mohawks, there's strange face paint... it doesn't even fit Havik, in my opinion, much less Mileena.

I understand that I should probably avoid putting my personal gripes here in these confessions, but my source just keeps on falling apart, and it's starting to make me feel like it's somehow my fault, and that I'm the one who keeps letting these people down. I wish NRS actually cared.

...On the bright side, however, I was spared from the hideous design choices of this season. However, I did not receive a klassic ninja skin like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Smoke, and Reptile did, so I suppose that's the price I had to pay for that.

Missing MK11 Koncepts: Reptile.

Bio: The last male Zaterran, Syzoth’s life has been marked by his loneliness and desperation. Recently feeling his devolution, Kronika came before him with a gift and an offer: Serve her, and she will ensure his people’s survival in the new era. Torn between restoring his race or staying with his closest friend, Reptile must choose a side before it is too late.

Gear:

Mask: (Select animation: Camera focuses on Reptile’s face.) Designs include the metal half mask from MKX, an old school cloth mask, a few old Zaterran designs, and so on.

Bracers: (Select animation: Reptile slashes the air, showing off his armguards.) Designs include simple cloth or metal, a design called Ko’atal’s Ally, and a Saurian one called “Khameleon’s parting gift.”

Tekko Kagi: (Select animation Reptile unhooks the weapon from his belt and points it to the screen.) Designs include various styles of the weapon, with a few lizard reminiscent designs)

Skins:

Metamorphosis: A new design that’s a halfway point between his humanoid appearance and his full reptile form in MKDA.

Last Saurian: A hooded design, as though looking for clues about his people.

Slithering Spy: Ninja-like design.

Universal moves:

Slimy slide: Reptile slides forward on a trail of slime, knocking the opponent into the air. Amplify for the slide to finish faster, giving time for follow up attacks.

Lizard dash: Reptile dashes behind the opponent and punches them in the back. Amplify makes him stab the opponent in the back with his weapon, injecting them with acid for damage over time.

Acid spit: Reptile spits a ball of acid at the opponent. (If you have a mask that covers his mouth, he pulls it down beforehand.)

Kustom moves:

Force ball: Reptile makes a ball of acid between his fingers before launching it at the opponent. Amplify to have the ball coat the opponent in acid, dealing damage over time for a short moment.

Lizard crawl: Reptile dashes forwards along the ground like his MK4 move or Alien’s crawl move. Can be used to avoid projectiles.

Stealth: Reptile turns invisible for a short time. (His throw gains a krushing blow if you land it while in this state.)

Fatal Blow:

Begins with a dashing strike. If it connects, Repitle performs a series of claw slashes before a two handed cross slash (SLO MO 1)Finally, Reptile leaks onto the opponent and bites a chunk off their neck.

Fatalities:

Face-Off: Reptile makes a force-ball in his palm and shoves it over the opponent’s face. You hear the opponent’s muffled screaming as the bubble turns red. Reptile chuckles before clenching his fist, making the ball explode and revealing the melting skull.

Surprise snack: Reptile turns invisible. The opponent’s neck is suddenly slit with claws. A tongue then wraps around from behind, which rips it off and into Reptile’s mouth for a ferocious bite.

Friendship:

BUY A REPTILE DOLL: Reptile pulls out a reptile doll and gives a cheesy advertisement. He presses the back, and the figure recycles one of his MKX lines,

Intro animations:

In plain sight: Reptile is invisible before he slowly appears.

Quick snack: Reptile is chomping on a head before noticing the opponent.

Hungry Lizard: You see acid drip on the ground before it pans up to reveal Reptile.

Dripping Fang: You see Reptile’s weapon before he points it to the opponent.

Outro animations:

Cleaning off: Reptile looks at his claws before slashing it towards the screen.

Now you see me: Reptile turns invisible, his chuckle echoing as the screen slowed.

Predator instinct: Reptile’s eye darts around, as if searching for threats, before he suddenly lashes his tongue to the camera.

Down In It

90's shared apartment with the two strange birds Tough Love and Rain. In the best classic sense. Classic weird? Yes, most definitely. Klassic Kiss? … um, no, not really. They are neither brothers nor related by blood in any way, nor do they have much in common externally. They simply can't stand each other, least of all themselves, and… are both still searching for themselves. One is somehow on a sado-maso trip, and the other rather prefers self-destruction, and despite all this, both live together as adult individuals under the same roof, and probably even share a single room, which doesn't really make this thing about not being able to bear things any easier. And you can hear that. But that doesn't matter, because don't forget, it's the 90s after all and slightly perverse psychedelic sound dimensions are the order of the day here. That fits quite well. And to our great astonishment, in the case of Kiss even particularly well.

Even if you're not chained up or dressed in skin-tight vinyl, and equally don't want to run needles or nails through your sex organ, feel invited to simply press Play and bang your way through those delightful verses I am talking about.

It feels like each fight gives considerable less xp than regular Invasions fights do, and they gave me only 50 regular coins (golden) and 100 season coins (silver). I think Invasions fights give 100 of each. But the endless tower fights are two rounds, and the Invasions fights are only one, so I don’t think the tower is worth it. Though having the fights start almost immediately is nice so I may do it again

I also tried the survivor tower, also on easy. I didn’t get to see how much I got for each fight, I hate that it doesn’t just show you a number, but I wanted to see how far I could make it (I never tried it seriously on mk11, I only let the ai do it on super easy for the grind, and went on super easy a few times to get those fatal blows). The answer is, not very far. It was fun enough for me to want to do it again when I am bored of the same Invasions fight

It seems those blogs had a point when they said doing the same (endurance) fight in Invasions was the way to go. It is more rewarding than regular Invasions fight, which are more rewarding than these tower fights, and I don’t have a hard time with them (specially the low level ones, obviously, and the low levels ones don’t seem to be much less rewarding than the higher ones)

I will try the towers on medium next to see if it gives me more coins, and if I can do the fights

Getting some variety is important. I have been so tired in the mornings these days that if I start repeating too much the same stuff, sleep starts to sound better than playing lol

Ah, and I found one Johnny in one of these towers using the JCVD skin, which made me really happy. The ultimate edition of mk11 had a bunch of dlc skin packs but they almost never showed up in regular towers (neither did the kl ones, or the premium shop ones… Some showed up once in a while in specific towers, and I met Cold War Skarlet in a couple different character towers, but I never saw them in the klassic towers)

The randomize didn’t get very creative so far, which is a shame. My Kitana gets that rainbow fan all the time, but with the regular blue outfit. I am hoping to see more of the different looks when I get a second controller to play 2p
