The Dark Psychology of Jesper from Klaus

Jesper is one of the most beloved characters in Klaus. Going from a spoiled rotten man in his 20s to a loving mailman that would go hell and back for his friend, it just occurred to me that there could be a darker meaning that everyone does something nice to get what they want.

I know this film had been out for 4 years but I thought this could be a good way to explore Jesper more. We already know that he's spoiled and selfish. When he was talking to Margu, he said how he was a bigshot and everyone loved him. However, we see that everyone hated him as well as his skepticism with people being genuinely nice. Then, we see that his father is a good man in making sure that he does some real work.

Here's a question: Where's Jesper's mom? We don't see her. Let alone have any mention of her. So, I think his mom is part of the reason why Jesper is the way he was in the beginning of the movie. His mom married his dad for his riches but later left him without a single warning.

This kind of trauma can lead to a certain trigger of indulgence to Jesper. He relies on his father's riches to cope with what happened. He might've gotten tangled up in friends that want to be with him because he comes from a rich family. This only heightens his coping mechanism up to the point where he's almost unable to fix himself.
