do you think there was some ... attraction going on between klaus and reb?
Please don't ask me this 😭
No it's a lie I've been waiting all my life for someone to ask me my thoughts about whatever the fuck Klaus and Rebekah had going on.
There was definitely sexual tension in there and some (enormous) weird feelings between both of them as well. I'm aware is because Joseph and Claire fucked, but there's a whole theory about Pl*c having read Flowers on the Attic and being perfectly aware of what she was doing with klebekah. And besides, they didn't have just tension sexual.
It looked like Klaus was fucking in love/obssesed with Rebekah, and she went for the most alike person to him. That only makes it worse.
If I'm honest I don't think they fucked, not even kissed, and I don't wanna think they were in love either. But they were inseparable for a thousand years, Klaus said that they always had been together and Bex said he was the only one who never left her, and that only gets worse when we remember she's his favorite sibling and he may be hers too.
Klaus was already insecure when he was human, that only turned worse when he became a hybrid so his possessive and jealous side over Rebekah just grew worse and worse: he "punished" her for falling in love 24/7, was especially mean to her despite the fact that she stayed with him through everything and never made up for it, giving her the cure was just ooc and bad writing for the show.
Perhaps a part of it was because physically she was the one who ressembled Esther the most, and his mommy issues are awful, so he took it out on his youngest sister because he was seeing the betrayal his mother put him through and the potential "treason" Rebekah may do against him? I wanna think it that way.
Klaus was more protective over Rebekah because after Hope, she was clearly the person he loved the most. And his daughter was born a thousand years after all the abuse he put her through, so during all those centuries his main focus was Bekah. As a result, he killed anyone who looked at her for more than a second and was insanely jealous of any of her love interests, especially Marcel.
Marcel, the person who resembled Klaus the most in the show eyes, the one Rebekah fell in love with and the one she married. And Klaus, fancing a blonde and falling in love with another, both of them really similar to Rebekah They couldn't be together so they went for the closest thing they could get instead??
I don't know, their whole relationship feels so incestuous and the chemistry between Joseph and Claire is insane, they definitely don't portray the relationship their characters have in a platonic way, their eye fucking in that one scene in s4 of The Originals where she told him she knew she was his favorite sibling was so strange.
Anyway. This whole rant didn't come out the way I wanted because my thoughts are a mess right now, but if they were in Game of Thrones they definitely would be fucking 24/7.

Not to combine two of my biggest hyperfixations but Klaus and Rebekah are so sexy Targaryen incest coded.
First of all, we have Klaus who is so obsessed with his sister that two of his main love interests are in some way similar to her.
Also let's not mention his fucked up relationship with his mother that affects his taste in women too. (camille)
Second, he's obsessed with her sex and love life and makes it very obvious that he can't handle not being the only man in her life. (Overprotective brother behavior, my ass. If your brother acts like that you should get tf out of that house)
Why I think they would be more Targaryen than Lannister incest coded? Glad you asked. It's because Klaus would, without a doubt, be obsessed with blood purity and its superiority. (He literally kills her lovers because they're not "good enough" for her)
Tell me he does not scream "I grew up being taught that my bloodline is holy and must be kept pure through practicing incest so I will make sure my sister never gets the opportunity to go after someone else and taint our bloodline"
Not to mention, the sick codependency, the essential grooming and abuse that Klaus did/would subject Rebekah to. She can't escape him because they're connected in ways other humans are not. Be it through blood and centuries of family customs or through growing up thinking they're the only two people who can truly love each other.
Kind of a Daemyra type of situation. Klaus grooming her until she becomes addicted to his attention/approval. Buying her gifts, making her feel special. He kills anyone who would have her hand. He takes her away and marries her in secret so it can't be undone. Rebekah, who is jealous of every girl he looks at, who wants to kill them for even daring to think they could one day be his wife. He kills her lovers and she destroys the reputation of every girl that catches his eye.

Another ask wahoo! Uh. Ok do what do u think of the parallels between how rebekah and elijah were introduced and the type of relationships they each have with klaus at their time of introduction? How do you think it looks to stefan of all people seeing as he has a connection to rebekah as well?
Well, that depends on what you mean by introduction. We meet Elijah at a time when he’s completely at odds with Klaus—trying to kill him, in fact! But we don’t see them interact until Elijah reveals his past to Elena. And there…well, they were not at odds at all back then. They were close. Smiling, happy, enjoying each other’s company even if they felt differently about Katherine and humanity and emotions.
And when we meet Rebekah…they’re much the same, honestly. Except Klaus is even more overbearing toward her, since she’s his little sister instead of his big brother. Klaus can shove Elijah against a wall and yell at him for letting Katherine escape, but Rebekah? He’ll manhandle her all evening, telling her off for the great crime of enjoying herself at a party he’s bored of and wants to leave.
Stefan is directly witness to this, but he doesn’t witness Klaus and Elijah’s relationship firsthand for a while. He only hears what Elijah tells him—vague things like “I had a family once. Klaus hunted them all down and one by one, he took them from me.” (Which is honestly soooo funny in retrospect, because the writers clearly hadn’t figured Elijah’s full backstory, and they were just throwing things at the wall that made Klaus sound ~evil~)
So I imagine Stefan’s thinking Rebekah is Klaus’s biggest supporter, whereas Elijah was a detractor. An obstacle. And honestly, that’s not too far off! Klaus and Rebekah have a tumultuous relationship, but Rebekah loves him through it all. Meanwhile, Elijah, despite loving him, stands by Klaus, and in front of him if necessary. He’s Klaus’s supporter, enabler, and empty voice of reason. Even his threats are toothless—the one time he decides to go on the warpath and kill Klaus, Klaus convinces him to stop with just a few words.

She had loved him and feared him for over a thousand years.
But just like fear itself, she finally realizes he has no power over her.
There was time to make it right.

hi, writing an originals / tvd elijah fanfiction on ao3 and i like your brain. can you elaborate your thoughts on klaus and his preoccupation with his sister rebekah? he’s obsessed and i’m wanting to give you a space to just go nuts on the topic and maybe help me with my characterization? my fic revolves around trauma, religious and generational, and i’m not looking to paint klaus as anything other than severely disturbed. and this disturbing opinion is not one i encounter a lot. so: what’s his deal with his sister?
Klaus is an incredibly difficult character to write and he is, in my opinion, the most complex character in the tvd universe.
As a human, Klaus craved love desperately and the only people who gave it to him were Elijah and Rebekah: I wouldn't count Esther in, because despite the fact that she clearly loved him and all her kids, she just didn't give him the reassurance and comfort he needed, and she didn't protect him from Mikael either. As a result, Klaus clinged to the two of them and that only got worse when they turned into vampires. His "clinginess" turned into paranoia mixed with a toxic love, and as a result, he started controlling their lives by daggering them or/and killing any potential lovers because he was scared his siblings would love those persons more than they loved him and/or leave him because of it.
With Rebekah it was just worse, because they were the closest growing up and they remained the closest as vampires as well until Hope was born, where Elijah took her spot because she was finally free of him. It's canon Rebekah stood with Klaus even when Elijah didn't, and knowing how controlling he is, it's safe to assume she didn't get to be away from him for more than a month without having him throw a fit (I'm not counting The Originals days in this, because as I said before, it took Rebekah wanting to kill him to make Klaus see he was an asshole and he has to change his ways for the sake of his unborn daughter). In top of that, there's the side of him that gets insanely jealous whenever Rebekah has the smallest crush.
That is part of what I said about his paranoia and toxicity: he couldn't and wouldn't allow anyone to take his spot in her life, he loved her in a way that was abusive and Rebekah had no other choice but accept it. He was more than just overprotective and she falls in love way too easily, not just because he denied her the chance of a lasting relationship but also because mentally she's just a teenager that tends (at least in tvd) to lash out emotionally when people don't love her the way she wants them to.
In romantic terms, Klaus was denied of love too: he got rejected by Aurora in the most cruel way ever and Tatia didn't love him because she was in love with Elijah, and even a thousand years later the wounds caused by both women were in a sense still fresh. So he took it out on his little sister too, who was fond of anyone who was sweet to her, perhaps because he didn’t want her to go through the same heartache as him, and because he has been in love too and those feelings clouded his thoughts too much.
I mean, like when Aurora dumped her to the bottom of the ocean, when he was flirting with Hayley, when he was also flirting with Caroline while the mother of his daughter was kidnapped, or when he sacrificed himself for Cami: Klaus has put those women over his family a lot of times, something all his siblings have done with their respective love interests, and yet he criticizes them when they do it. They all chose love over family, but in Klaus's mind, he was the only one who had the right to. He's selfish like that, he can do whatever he wants but as soon as his family does the same he flips.
Despite that, he clearly loves his family. He loves Rebekah, Kol, Elijah, Freya, and even Finn: after all, he daggered him and kept him in a box for a thousand years and stuffed his mother into a coffin but he still carried their dead bodies around because he wasn't willing to abandon them despite everything.
One of my personal headcanons that you can take as canon if you want is that a part of his abuse towards Rebekah is because she looks like Esther. Their mother binded him, stripped him from his werewolf heritage and in a fit of rage he killed her: but it didn't do anything to quell his anger because his favorite sibling, his little sister, was her living image. We all know Klaus doesn't deal well with his emotions, especially the ones related to betrayal, so of course he was gonna blame his mother's actions on Rebekah.
And I don't know if that's what you meant, but I have a dumb brain so if you intented to have Klaus having "romantic" feelings for Rebekah it's more or less the same: he was obssesed with her, he didn't allow anyone to have her and she was the only woman who showed him loyalty, so his feelings could have easily changed into a form of twisted love and the mentality of "if I can't have her, no one can".
Anyway, I'm really honored you asked me about my opinion 🙌. Klaus is a fucked up person and it's hard to think why he does the things he does, people love to blame all his actions and the way he is on his bad childhood and Mikael's abuse and yeah, he deserved a better human life but his actions were his, being abused doesn't mean you have abuse other people and in his fear and hate he turned out to be even worse than Mikael in a sense.
(He's still my bitch tho)

4x01 review
I have rewatched s1-3 a lot but I’m watching s4-7 now. Then I might cheer myself up with s1-2.
Stelena: I’m smiling; me too
The best choice I’ve ever made, I wanted you to have hope, one day at a time, etc. they were on point and I think it’s extremely interesting that Elena’s not all that drawn to Damon despite the sire bond. She’ll resist him for quite a bit. And Elena’s choices are all over the premiere, which is going to be sadly contrasted with her free will being stripped away.
Delena: I’m exactly that selfish
I do like that Elena’s vampire comes out tackling Damon and saving Matt. I like how she’s moved and pissed that Damon took away some memories from her, but it doesn’t fundamentally change anything. After the high of s3, delenas writing gets more rapey and boring, but there’s a thread of Elena being selfish and making her worst choice with Damon that I like, too bad it doesn’t really go anywhere.
Klebekah: it’s always been me
How cathartic is Rebekah destroying the last of Elena’s human blood? How great is it that Klaus all but looses Rebekah until Hope comes into the picture? Why does Klaroline even bother?
Klaroline: now with sexual assault! What a terrible pairing.
Beremy: it’s sweet how much he cares about her.
Bonnie: she gets her moment of agency briefly before the spirits punish her and Grams. I like the ending of the originals where the ancestors get to find peace with Vincent’s help. I think poor Bonnie and her spirits get as satisfying an ending.
Klaus as a villain: he refuses to wait a day and threatens to kill Tyler and Jeremy. Nice to see him in his element.
