Honestly I like any kind of feedback. It is to note I'm an absolute compliment goblin, so I like to eat any compliments up like toast in the morning 😂

1. I LOVE the ones who get a bit technical (about my writing style, words used, metaphors, anything literature nerdy basically)

2. I absolutely adore being added to fic recs. Just the idea that someone enjoyed my work so much to want to recommend it to others just breaks my brain

3. I love it when people describe their experience with the fic as well. Like 'I held my breath' or 'I was giggling the whole time' love that.

4. I love overdramatic comments. Like "I fell to my knees I'm sobbing" followed by a keyboard smash djispsjosns like y'all are so cute pls continue being dramatic to me ily

5. TMI comments. Yas queen tell me the exact hyper you specific reason why you liked this and what it reminded you of from your life experience. I love to hear it

🎀 give yourself a compliment about your own writing!

The thing I like the most about my writing is how original my ideas are. I've always been really harsh on myself in the terms of 'quality'. I have this stubbornness that I won't just write a sweet little fic to make my heart beat faster and make me giddy. No, it has to be special, somehow, or else I don't feel like it's MY work. (I don't mean to be offensive to anyone by saying this, btw) I've given up on so many ideas and didn't even consider writing most ideas because they didn't feel me enough. And by me enough, I mean, having that shock factor. Knowing my readers will most likely not read anything alike it for, idk, months or years to come.

But the most magical thing about it is that, I don't just sit here and wonder "hmm what can I do that would be original" nah I just wait for it to happen. And when it does, my whole world catches color. My ideas are so ridiculous, so far fetched sometimes even I get shocked by them most of the time. And this originality is what gives me the most pride.

🎉 how often do you celebrate completing & posting a work? How often do you give yourself the credit/ validation that you seek from others when you post? (If you don't, you should!)

I'm my own worst critic, to be honest. I only really celebrate my own fics when I feel I have created something of high quality. Original, coherent, compelling, immersive, emotional, you name it. If it's well crafted and well inspired I will celebrate it without outside validation.

If it's not something I consider to be Oscar worthy and I feel I "wasn't at the top of my game" I just pat myself on the back for being productive and hope the next one will be of better quality.

OC group ask!!! You take them to an amusement park, what are they doing with their time there?

Roco is the group navigator who points the more direction confused people at where to go based on the map, until he gets dragged over by 

Link who is determined to go on every type of ride and see most of the park. He is very excited, Roco is definitely closing his eyes and praying during some of the rides. 

Floppy is going on a few different rides and having some fun, she really enjoys the chaos of movement on the water ones. 

Tori is going on the craziest roller coasters, but only if the line is short. If the lines are packed she is not going to wait, and will instead elect to play games at the arcade. 

Laurence (who isn’t a big fan of heights) is not going on almost any rides, maybe some of the more grounded ones. He’s watching the stage show that’s happening and seeing if it’s any good.

Kleo is riding on whatever she gets taken to, but she loves the spinning rides so much. She will ride the ‘super spinner’ or whatever, get off a little dizzy, get back in line, and repeat. Everyone is so confused as to how she hasn’t gotten sick yet. 

Damia will ride on whatever rides she gets dragged onto and looks like this the whole time (kleo or someone is next to her)

She does ride the carousel a bit though, she doesn’t say anything but I think she likes the lights and music.

11. I'm not sure - on the one hand, I have three, and only two of those have really come out to play in this journal.

On the other hand, it'd be really fun to flesh out the idea I had a while back for a Night's Cavalier who has turned against the Golden Order.

17. Do my muses get along?

Ifsahan and Cass: Get along surprisingly well. Cass is deeply involved with the mysteries of the Dark, and while Ifs doesn't agree with her philosophies, they can appreciate her devotion. Meanwhile, she sees their faith as a benefit, even if she's skeptical of this moonlight deity, and would like it if they'd accompany their faith with scholarship.

These two could hang out and be friends, or work to some common goal without a problem.

Ifsahan and Kleos: Might throw down just for fun, the Tarnished and the Undead. Both of them are fond of a good fight, and if the Undead has no blood worth spilling, they're still enough of a fox to give Kleos a good challenge. In personality, they have little in common - Kleos coming into their own might enjoy Ifsahan's gentleness, but Ifs is more likely to see Kleos as excessively quick to action.

They might be friendly so long as there's something to do. Let them get bored, and they'll both make trouble.

...I don't think I've ever written Kleos and Cass interacting! Kleos tends to be reckless and too-clever, and has not a scrap of faith for Cass to pull upon. In turn, her focus on the peace and mysteries of her occult pursuits leaves little opening for Kleos's wants for adventure and power.

The best case is probably Cass enticing Kleos to do something for her. Then at least they wouldn't rub one another raw.

💥 (Emotions he can’t deal with) Kleo has a problem with anger at the world. If he’s even remotely pissed he’d probably freeze someone with his Glaceon or end up on the news by beating someone up because Jubilife City has nothing better to publish.

🕷️ (Biggest fears + irrational/mundane fears) Kleo is so, so, so afraid of leaving people behind, and vice versa. The feeling of abandonment is one he knows and it feels terrible. He was born in Sinnoh only to move to Alola, then to Galar. Every time he moved it hurt, and he’s afraid of even making new friends because he can never stop thinking of those he left behind.

His irrational fear is having too many books. Look, this may be a Champion here but he’s too stupid to realize he could have an extra storage room and thinks his room will overflow with them.

Fo4 Companions Living In Goodneighbor With Sole

MacCready spent a lot of his time there already, so he's got no problem moving there again. He's got a good reputation there and, as much as he complains about the smell, he really does like living there. He loves sitting and talking with Daisy at her shop, and he's always managing to get you both discounts.

Nick thinks you're crazy for ever wanting to live there, but he'll shrug his shoulders and tag along anyway. Living there with you allows him to catch criminals easier since they're usually right there on the doorstep. He likes being able to live closer to some of his old friends and he appreciates the endless support he gets from the locals, but he still prefers Diamond City to the almost lawless Goodneighbor and prays this arrangement is temporary.

Cait has lived in worse environments and doesn't mind camping out here. She gets along with all the others really fast and is suddenly getting offers from people wanting to hire her as a bouncer/bodyguard for all these different businesses and shops. She has a lot of fun there, mostly because she's swimming in caps by the end of it, and is a great roommate to have since no one wants to steal from you out of fear Cait will start coming for them.

Danse refuses before you can even finish your question. He would never live in Goodneighbor, it's dirty and full of ghouls.

Preston thinks it's a questionable decision but goes through with it anyway. He loves Kent and, if you didn't already agree to it, he'd probably end up taking on the role of the Silver Shroud just so he could truly bring some justice to Goodneighbor and make it a safer place to live. He'll try to convince you to leave and go to Sanctuary or the Castle, but he'll stay with you for as long as you're here.

Codsworth is absolutely appalled by the amount of grim that covers the town and agrees to live with you just so he has the opportunity to try and clean it off. Despite his borderline rude comments about the place's sanitation, the locals adore how polite he is and are always quick to greet the robot as he goes to grab groceries from Daisy.

Piper’s already pretty well-liked there due to her paper and how much she preaches about free speech, but she’s not all too excited about moving with you. She has Nat to look out for too and Goodneighbor has got to be the least safe place for a kid to roam around in. She’ll visit you often, but the answer is no.

Curie doesn't understand the dangers of staying in Goodneighbor and is mostly just excited to go sightseeing. She has so much fun living there with you and especially loves going down to the Memory Den and doing research with Dr. Amari, although, she definitely would prefer somewhere with less risk of getting sick.

Strong likes it there, but the second he spots Kleo or Charlie, he's going on a rampage trying to slaughter them, but if you can keep him away from those two, then you won't have too many issues.

Hancock loves the idea and gladly lets you live up with him in the Old State House. He's so excited to announce your citizenship to the rest of the people in Goodneighbor and he especially can't wait to help you settle down in the town he worked so hard to build up. He'll constantly be barging into your room and helping you decorate or simply making sure you've got everything you need. He's honestly just so excited to introduce you to everything that makes Goodneighbor special.

Deacon's on board with it. He's stayed there before when he was undercover and a lot of the people there support the Railroads cause, so he sees the place as an ally and not something to be too wary of. He likes to mess with Charlie down at the Third Rail and it ends up with him getting kicked out quite frequently. The only reason he's so light-hearted about it and not getting flighty is because he doesn't believe the arrangement will be permanent. Even if it does, he can just slip into one of the alley ways and get away for a bit.

X6-88 thinks you've lost your mind. Why would you want to live in one of the most dangerous and filthy places in the Commonwealth? He'll try to convince you to go back to the Institute and live there, but he'll reluctantly agree if you keep relenting. The only problem is that he's way too on edge and will end up shooting someone if they get too close, so unless you want to be chased out, you should probably find another roommate.

Dogmeat doesn't mind. He likes that the people scratch him behind the ears when he walks by, but he'll get a little shakier when he almost gets shot while sniffing around the trash near the alleyways.

Old Longfellow thinks the place is incredibly sketchy and would offer to go with you whenever you left the house out of fear that something is gonna happen to you. He’s not gonna let anyone hand you anything and will stand slightly more in front of you whenever someone approaches. After a while though, he’ll start getting used to the community and be less paranoid. He gets along surprisingly well with Whitechapel (most people didn’t think Charlie could actually like anyone) and he likes spending his time down in the Third Rail with you.

Gage doesn't mind. He thinks it's an interesting place to set up and has no problem fitting in with everyone else. He and Kleo become fairly close to each other as he'll spend most of his time at Kill Or Be Killed and gain a lot of respect from the locals fast.

Conversely, if you and Alexander talked only once, what do you think he’d ask you? I guess he wouldn’t be surprised to find out there are professors studying his life and reign more than two thousand years after his death - but what do you think he would ask you about the history of, well, himself?

Interesting question. I think it would be difficult for him to know what TO ask. While it’s possible to forecast a little way into the future (science-fiction authors do it all the time), the further into the future we look, the further off-base we get. Unsurprisingly. Things come out of left field that even the most foresighted can’t anticipate.

For Alexander, I do think he realized that he died too soon, and his empire wasn’t established enough yet. Ergo, one of his first questions would likely be, “So, how fast did it all fall apart and who came out on top?”

He might even be weirdly happy to hear the answer. (Not long.) Why? It proved they couldn’t hold it together without him—which underscores his own uniqueness. I realize that’s self-centered on his part, but don’t all of us, deep down, kinda wanna know we’re irreplaceable? How much more for somebody raised in a society where kleos (glory) and timē (public recognition) were so important? An older king might have been more concerned with his “legacy” after ruling for decades. But Alexander was still young. He didn’t have much of a legacy yet to protect, other than his remarkable success. That nobody else could match it would, I think, have pleased him.

Would he have asked about his family? Probably. But I think it’d be part of the larger question of what happened next and who came out on top.

He’d LOVE that Rome named him “the Great.” In his own day, he was known as “the invincible” anikētos; “the Great” is Roman.

Yet I don’t think he’d have seen Rome coming. I expect he’d predict Carthage as the dominant Western power. Remember that, in his day, Rome wasn’t especially notable. This was still the Early Republic. Plebians were relatively new into the Senate, Rome was nowhere near in control of all the peninsula and just starting the shift from a Greek- and Etruscan-style phalanx to what would become the legion.

Reputedly, Alexander of Epiros (before his death in 331) resented Alexander of Macedon’s early successes, claiming he (Alexander of Epiros) was fighting real men in Italy while his nephew “waged a war against women” (e.g, barbarians). That’s a typical Western-centric view.* At the time, however, Persia had the most powerful army in the world. Whatever Livy claimed, had Alexander brought the Macedonian military machine west instead of east, he’d have mowed through Italy, just like in Greece, Thrace, and Illyria. It took another hundred-plus years of Roman military development to result in the wins at Magnesia or Cenoscephalae. Italy/Rome at that point was just no match for Macedon, much less Macedon under Alexander’s command.

But hoo-boy, he’d want to know about the legion, even if he wouldn’t know enough to ask directly. He might ask about future military innovations.

Also…he’d be PISSED that more people in the West today recognize the name of Julius Caesar than Alexander of Macedon. 😉 “Why didn’t Shakespeare write a play about ME???” But he’d be tickled there are more stories about him in more varied world cultures than there are about Caesar (true fact). IOW, Caesar may be more famous in the West, but Alexander is more famous in the larger world (thanks to the Alexander Romance).

Last, he might ask me about my world. If we assume he knew I was 2300+ years in his future, I think he’d naturally want to know what life is like in my time. I mean, wouldn’t we ask what life would be like 2300 years in our future? He’d probably be fascinated by the changes, although perhaps not the ones we’d anticipate.

Long ago, on a drive from Kentucky back to Nebraska, my son and I had a fun conversation about a fictional interview between Alexander and Stephen Colbert (Ian’s favorite talking-head person at the time). Stephen Colbert would ask Alexander what were the three most surprising things he’d found about the future? Would it be medical breakthroughs? Computers? The rise of democratic states? Flying through the air (and into space)? Etc.

Nope. The three things I think would surprise him the most are:

1. Near-instantaneous speed of communication 2. Easy availability of information (even if it may be wrong) 3. Changes in the importance of religion (at least in some places)

It was such an interesting conversation, I turned it into what’s now the opening Power-point in my World History I class! Ha.

A dating route with her would be a little strange because most of the roads lead to the ‘friendship’ path. (Bad path only happens if you’re directly mean to her or others).

To get the ‘romance’ path you have to pick the incredibly direct and blunt options. She does not understand metaphors or implications. You have to say to her face ‘I like you in a romantic way I want to kiss you’ rejection after this is near impossible to get so long as you were already on the friendship path.

Kleo doesn’t really know what normal people do to hang out/go on dates. So a lot of events are just following her on whatever weird errand they priory sent her on.

If you ask her out to somewhere like a real date though, she’ll be very excited and happily accept!

The essay question most likely to be asked on Odysseus is ‘how good a leader is Odysseus’ or ‘how responsible for his men is Odysseus’ and the answer, based on the text, is *always* ‘not very’

Here is a Basic Essay plan:

- makes stops to take on food and water and ensures crews are well fed, so much so they vote him extra in thanks

- saves his remaining men from Polyphemus by clever thinking and action

- always shares food and loot equally with his men

- after several search parties come to sticky ends, he puts himself into the party and draws lots for fairness

- refuses to abandon his crew to Circe’s magic

- follows Hermes’ instructions to ensure his men are saved from being pigs (yes technically this means sleeping with Circe too)

- chooses not to tell his crew about the dangers of Scylla because he thinks it will cause unnecessary panic

- does tell them not to eat Hyperion’s cattle and tries to prevent them all from dying by begging help from the gods

- gives motivational speeches to try and improve morale (“my friends! We are utterly lost!” 😂)

- can carry *really* heavy stags on his own😉

- is such a responsible leader he attempts to stay awake for days on end to steer them home, and his men only make incredibly bad decisions (opening bag of winds, killing Hyperion’s cattle) when he’s not there to stop them

~AGAINST his being a good leader/being responsible:

- even though he tries to get his crews to leave Ismarus, they refuse, essentially mutinying, and he lets them = questionable authority

- puts his men unnecessarily in danger by insisting on exploring Polyphemus’ island even though they’ve already taken on food and water and even though he has ‘a bad feeling about it’, because their *might* be guest gifts, thus kudos, in it for him

- continues to put his crew in danger by revealing their location having escaped from blinded Polyphemus in order to claim kudos from having been the one to blind him

- continues to put his crews in danger by shouting out *again*, after they’ve narrowly escaped being sunk the first time, in order to further insult the cyclops, resulting in a curse that ends all their lives despite his men *begging* him to shut up

- puts his own life in danger by insisting on hearing the sirens, thus endangering his crew by removing their leader and putting them in the difficult position of refusing his orders (when he begs to be untied)

- doesn’t tell them what’s in the bag from Aeolus… although they should probably assume he’d share it with them if it was loot, because he has set a precedent for always doing that, by not telling them he creates confusion, leading to their mistake of opening it

- doesn’t stop the rest of the ships from entering the harbour at Telepylos, even though he moors outside = again questionable authority

- abandons 11 ships to the Laestrygonians because he cannot save them (ok he didn’t know they were monster cannibals but still, responsibility)

- chooses a more dangerous route when given a choice by Circe, because Jason’s already ‘done’ the Clashing Rocks and Scylla & Charybdis are unclaimed = more kudos for him again, adding to his personal kleos

- fails to prepare his crew for the dangers of Scylla & Charybdis instead choosing to sacrifice some of their lives for his and the rest of the crew’s (return to in Evaluation)

- absents himself at the crucial moment of their desperation in Hyperion’s island, ostensibly to pray for help, but knowing what Eurylochus is likely to do ie: go against his orders and kill the forbidden cattle

(If I’ve missed out some points I may add more later)

~EVALUATION

- although he can’t possibly be expected to know what’s coming (eg: Laestrygonians being monster cannibals), perhaps he should have taken more stock of the way things were going

- arguably, sacrificing some lives for the majority is one of those horribly difficult decisions of leadership, so this might even be admirable (?)

- he does question every decision he makes in order to choose what he considers to be the best course of action…

- …unless if it involves his own kudos, which is his priority

~CONCLUSION

- although he is not without leadership ability, Odysseus arguably makes too many decisions in his own favour, and is directly responsible for the loss of (12 ships x c.50crew each) c.600men, plus uncounted enslaved people from Troy

- and whereas some decisions made by his crew/men can be blamed for events (not leaving Ismarus, opening Aeolus’ bag, killing Hyperion’s cattle), that Odysseus doesn’t/can’t stop them suggests a lack of leadership on his part and/or a lack of trust in him from his men, and, on these events, we *only have Odysseus’s word for it*, as the sole survivor and narrator of these books, which are being narrated for the dual purpose of entertaining the Phaeacians and gaining sympathy from them so that they will help him get home and this is potentially an unreliable source that, like Odysseus himself*, simply cannot be trusted.

*due to his portrayal in every other literary text containing him as a character

I should end this by saying I LOVE Odysseus as a character. He is ‘meaty’, meaning there’s so much that can be discussed when it comes to him. If anything, he’s an annoyingly enjoyable antihero, like Milton’s Satan, or Shakespeare’s Richard III. Though he’s not a tragic hero and is only a ‘hero’ by Ancient Greek terms, *not* modern:

okay cool i see many of us are talking about the scene where annabeth gets rooted down in the fields of asphodel and we all wanna know what she regrets so much so here’s my two cents on what i thought it meant

the obvious answer is thalia, thinking that she could have saved her (even though she was seven. annabeth has always been an overachiever with impossibly high standards for herself we all know this). but i think it goes deeper than that. i think it’s about her worldview and relationship to the gods. let me explain.

annabeth has worked with the gods’ system for Years. she followed all the rules and fought for kleos and became head counselor at the age of TWELVE. she wants so badly to be recognized and seen by her mom, and i’m so glad she uses her yankees cap as often as she does because it really shows that she treasures this one gift from athena. and then percy shows up.

and he’s impertinent. and angry. and does not give a single shit about what the gods expect or want. openly shit-talks his father. and yet, when he’s in danger poseidon comes for him. meanwhile athena LET ECHIDNA INTO HER TEMPLE AND LEFT ANNABETH TO DIE DUE TO SOMEONE ELSE’S ACTIONS. and suddenly, annabeth feels all her efforts to be the perfect demigod daughter crumbling while percy ‘pay your fucking child support’ jackson gets not only acknowledgement but his father but aid for all three of them. she tells hephaestus as much: percy isn’t like the rest of them, he’s better than that. and she doesn’t want to be like them either. and think about it: that turns her Whole Worldview on its head

she never saw herself as deserving of her mother’s attention, even if she craved it. she believes love is transactional, and now she’s learning it doesn’t have to be. and that’s a Lot to process in such a short amount of time— realizing that all that time, effort, and energy, all those pieces of herself, that she gave to the gods were useless. that so much of her life was wasted on the gods’ fucked up cycle of neglect. it’s HARD to look back and realize “i deserved better,” and regret putting up with it all

it’s even harder to realize someone else deserved better. in the beginning. of the series, annabeth saw thalia’s fate as an honorable, even enviable, one. a hero’s fate. dying in battle, for glory, and having a god intervene in the moment of your death. i think she sees that very differently now. i think she realizes just how cruel zeus and the world were to thalia, and how fucked it was that she idolized thalia’s “hero’s fate”

and guess what! percy’s worldview only really started making an impression on her like . three days ago. she probably feels so much guilt on TOP of all this regret and anger, because it takes a long time to break out of mindsets like hers. she hasn’t deconstructed it all just yet, and in giving up her blind servitude to the gods and her mother, she’s probably struggling with the feeling that she’s not allowed to be angry, that she’s ungrateful, that she’s severely insulting them. i think this absolute tsunami of emotions is more than enough to bog her down in the fields of asphodel and would align with her character development as she starts seeing the gods for what they really are

(but what do i know, maybe this scene is just foreshadowing some crazy tv annabeth tragic backstory that we get to see later)
