sometimes i think about how limited helaena's life is if you don't take into account her being able to see the world through some kind of mystic dragon third eye (which i'm aware is purely show based). she doesn't really leave the palace, she doesn't interact with anyone besides her family, knights, and servants, she isn't given an active role on the small council despite her being princess and then queen. she's not the kind of rapscallion girl who uncle daemon would take to fleabottom. she's basically expected to sit still and look pretty and have babies, which she does-- but there is very little in her life. that's why i take her entomology and dragon riding so seriously, why i pursue what few ships are possible for her. i want to fill helaena's life with richness and color because she deserves to live a life in which she is loved and cherished and not just made to fulfill obligations and check certain boxes for other people's motives. i want her to have passion and wonder and hobbies and friendships and orgasms. helaena deserves to have these things in her life.
