I don't care for Shae Vizla in SWTOR.
In Shadow Of Revan when we go to get help from her and her mandalorians, she turns us down. Choosing to go on a scaffla hunt instead of helping to fight against the man who defeated her ancestors. But when the final fight's about she start, she comes in on her jetpack, ready to throw down and ignoring how she earlier said she wasn't intrested.
She also shows an annoying false humility when it's mentioned she's being called 'The Flame' and she says "That's just something the locals came up with. Hell if I know why," while casually discharging her flamethrower. And she says the exact same thing in Knights Of The Eternal Throne when you mention that she's called Mandalore The Avenger.

random ramblings about kotet (spoilers for kotet and i guess Agent)
Vaylin's lack of redemption in kotet was weird because it felt kinda fence-sitting, if that makes sense. Like, "yeah it was messed up but she kinda deserved it so lets go fight some mandalorians to take our minds off it"
A lot of people (myself included) wanted a full and proper redemption for Vaylin, but part of me wonders what kotet would have been like if they made it even more messed up. If they really made it a true tragedy that we 'have' to kill Vaylin.
What if Vaylin was just a legitimately good ruler whose only crime was that she wanted to kill Valkorion, who just happened to be in your head. What if there was no grand destiny or grave injustice to face, and we were only fighting Vaylin because it was a 'Us or Them' situation that Valkorion forced us into. What if she was just someone that was very easy to regret killing instead of Bioware trying to justify her death at every turn.
Regret is something swtor very rarely dabbles in, and it's very easy for it to just come across as the developers making fun of us for playing their game. But they already kinda did this pretty well in the Agent class story.
y'know how during the Darth Jadus confrontation, it's almost meta in how it pokes at both yours and your character's egos to make you into playing your hand. Most players are forced to do something truly awful because they weren't able manipulate Jadus to get the 'best' ending. You literally fail at playing the role of the Agent. (this is why the Jadus confrontation is best RPG moment ever but that's not my point)
What if kotet was like that? What if there was a way to redeem Vaylin, but it was genuinely difficult to do without a guide because Valkorion actually manipulates you instead of just telling us Vaylin is bad. What if killing Vaylin was given the horrific weight of tragedy it always should have had?
idk I'm not a writer and this would be very hard to do without sounding pretentious, but would've been interesting at least.

haven’t drawn a face in over a year and I’m back to playing swtor and finally got to expansions so here is everyone's favourite war criminal. Not sure I’m totally happy with it but I don’t feel like drawing this anymore so this is as good as it gets unless I get bored and go back to it later.

M’kay but I desperately need a 100k words per volume book series detailing the Hero of Tython’s story, their past before they joined the Jedi Order, and their relationships with the other characters. I want an in-depth look into what happened to them and who they were and what they did under the influence of Vitiate’s brainwashing. Also the Hero of Tython is the Outlander because I just think that makes the most sense, out of all the Republic classes they have the most personal connection to Vitiate and it tracks that as Valkorion he would tell them that he respects them because they’re someone who makes ripples wherever they go.
Also also preferably Arcann/Outlander where Arcann gets an actually structured and well-written redemption arc because he’s my little meow meow, complete with slow burn enemies to tentative allies to friends to mutual pining to lovers. Oh and Vaylin gets a redemption arc as well, Senya just giving up on her was bullshit. I’m tired of seeing so many characters in Star Wars either die as redemption, have a “they were under mind control” excuse, or somehow get their negative emotions “cleansed” through magic™. I want an exploration of what drove them to becoming the person that they were and an exploration of how they take those tentative baby steps, one foot in front of another, down the long, painful, confusing path of trying to work through their trauma, build a different life, and prove to other people but most importantly to themselves that they can be a better person, dammit

I just finished KOTET so here are my thoughts:
The story was really good! I think the shorter story (in terms of chapter number) helped a lot. KOTFE was good but started to drag in the middle, and toward the end. KOTET had decent pace throughout.
Fuck the walker segments.
Also, fuck BioWare for making me fight Vaylin TWICE, and the second time, w Arcann, she was at her full max health. Arcann had ~220,000 health in that fight. Vaylin still had 1.3 MILLION. Absolutely absurd. It took me like, 4 tries in the her and Arcann fight. Eventually I just stood w my back to a wall so she couldn't throw me around as much, and that worked, but by god, it was a drag. If they had knocked her health down a little -- even to like, 750k -- it would've been better.
The final Valkorion battle was a lot more fun, thank god. I liked the force-switching, even though I wish it had more abilities on the hotbar, or a few more interesting ones.
I chose to save Torian, btw. I love Vette so much, but I figured than in lore, Thali would choose Torian bc he's a Mandalorian, and the Alliance couldn't afford to lose the support of the Manda'lor herself. It was a quick decision, it was made with the galaxy's best interests at heart, but Thali is torn up with guilt over Vette dying.

Finished KotET, liked much better than KotFE, storywise. However, some of the gameplay mechanics (walkers), and a few of the boss fights made me want to scream and cry, so much I hated them...
Dear SWTOR, I'm playing you for the story, not for migraines, thanks.
I especially liked that I could play as Valkorion for a while. All that Boss Power... Yummy.
Arcann turned out to be such a cinnamon roll that my Inky almost started flirting with him, but then Theron gave him a nasty death-glare, so he changed his mind.

So Lana’s family, I headcanoned that she’s the daughter of average, but respectable entrepreneurs. She was the one extraordinary child in an otherwise average family. She has two brothers who are either average sith, or just normal people. Like, at family reunions, everyone else is living relatively normal lives, then Lana walks in:
1. Been a wanted criminal multiple times (SoR and after she breaks the Outlander out)
2. Just disappears for months or years at a time with no contact. Always comes back with weirder and more impossible stories. That always end up getting confirmed on the holonews later.
3. Founding member of the rebellion that TOOK DOWN THE ETERNAL EMPIRE
In conclusion, Lana makes family reunions interesting

For Storyteller Saturday: give me five head canons you have about Zakuul
oh BLESS i love you. someone has to do the hard work of fleshing out Zakuul since bioware won't!! .......... coming back up here to say i'm putting this under a readmore because i think i wrote like over a thousand words of rambling and it's So Long
the first one is one i've talked about before in other posts, so i won't go much into detail about it, but it involves the Old Ways and worshipping the machine gods. i've developed several different rituals to mark the year (a sort of wheel of the year thing but for the six gods), there's a whole thing, but the Old Ways are sort of... looked down upon by a lot of Zakuulans. the mainstream Zakuulan religion these days is based around worshipping their Immortal Emperor, who is basically their god - he took control by styling himself the machine gods' prophesied demon slayer (canon iirc), even though he wasn't actually, and so to follow the Old Ways devoutly basically implies that you don't believe he actually killed them and don't trust in the Immortal Emperor, etc. so very few people actually admit to openly being devout.
however! the Old Ways are not forbidden, and many of the festivals are still around today, just turned into parties - there was one involving human sacrifice that turned into effigy burning, another that involves ritualistic walking barefoot across hot coals where people can get the damage fixed up directly after. lighting a candle for Scyva in midwinter is a common way of remembering those lost, especially Knights of Zakuul fallen in battle. Valkorion didn't outlaw the practices, because it gave his people something to focus on, sort of like how Firebrand was allowed to do a little terrorism. perfection can get boring after all.
the people who still follow the Old Ways tend to be in one of two categories: the thrill-seekers who do it for a rush, or the truly devout who don't believe in Valkorion as a god. there are a lot of fascinating implications there and i have THOUGHTS about the Scions who believe Valkorion is the literal avatar of Izax and so practice a modified version of the Old Ways, and the Heralds of Zildrog who are a fascinating cult who practice modified versions of the holy days, including actually keeping up with the human sacrifice bit. it's considered an honor to be the person sacrificed to Izax so that he will not come to claim more souls for the rest of the year.
all of this leads into HEADCANON TWO! which is that after Valkorion dies and Arcann takes over as the Emperor of Zakuul, there is the formation of a.... sort of cult probably? a religious group of fanatics on Zakuul who worship the Outlander, either as a reincarnation of Valkorion or as a being more powerful than him, because who but another god can kill a god? there are absolutely some wild ass memes about it on the Zakuul holonet and a lot of theories. the Scions definitely think the Outlander is basically the new vessel for Izax's spirit and that's why they ally with them, it's a tossup on whether they believe "Valkorion" was ever a real person at all, or just their terrible, horrible god. (because in the end, the most fated thing about any one person's life is that they will die.)
headcanon three, which i really need to make a post about: METALWORKING AS A CULTURAL SKILL!!! most of the actual work on Zakuul is done by droids, so most people actually have a basic understanding of mechanics and like, very basic metalworking. the Knights of Zakuul forge their own armor as part of the final step from training into becoming full knights, and they are responsible for repairing it themselves. Arcann repairs his own mask and his own arm. all of this ties into my fourth headcanon, because there's two here, which is about gift giving!
gift giving is a cultural way of showing affection to people, of course, but gifting someone something handmade, generally jewelry or other bits of metal, is A Statement. it's usually done as an affection gift or a mark of loyalty and care. this is why, for example, Arcann forges the Commander a Knight of Zakuul breasplate. there are people who make metal sculptures, too, it isn't just about jewelry and armor but also about art! Zakuul is absolutely full of art because as a society they have so much more energy and time to be creative because so much of the essential work is performed by droids. artists are absolutely held in very high esteem there - this is supported in canon, see the Zakuulan singer who turned traitor being a respected leader for her people. ...that's probably a fifth headcanon but i'll give you one more anyway
okay for my LAST headcanon, i haven't developed this super thoroughly yet, but! some thoughts about the Knights of Zakuul. so most of them are found fairly young. Zakuul is a nexus in the Force and so a higher population than normal of Force-sensitives are born there, mostly because children who would have been weaker or only Force-attuned are able to get their senses sort of... blown open wide by living on a world so naturally strong in it. this is part of why we see some insanely strong people from Zakuul. (and part of why the Sith pureblood species, originating from Korriban, was nearly entirely sensitive, which became a genetic trait that has weakened since they were forced off their homeworld.) sometimes Force-sensitives from conquered worlds are brought into the Knights if they show signs of being loyal. Zakuul, after all, isn't the only world in its empire, there are several other planets in that area of Wild Space (not supported by canon, unfortunately, but canon can shut up. Zakuul being that fully combat ready just does not make sense otherwise, through sheer logistics. they have too many numbers) and all of them fell to the Eternal Empire a long time ago, but there is still fighting on the frontier worlds near the very far edges of the galaxy pre-galactic war, and of course the actual war with Republic and Empire.
so Knights are usually trained from a fairly young age. they are taught to view the Force fundamentally different from Jedi or Sith or other Force-using traditions, and many of them would fall where you consider morally neutral, but just as there is no actual grey in the Force, they don't actually use one side or the other. some are more in tune with the light, using the Force through selflessness and emotion frequently focused on protecting and bettering the Empire as a whole, rather than themselves; some use the dark, wielding it through a selfish lens, grabbing onto its power for their own gains. either way, which side of the Force is used isn't actually regulated. Knights are trained on both the basic single blade and on the lightsaber pike, and many of them carry both weapons on them and can switch between the two, as well as a blaster-resistant energy-field shield for front lines combat. they are also trained in hand to hand, though that gets used less often, and offensive and defensive Force use. there are no Force-blind Knights.
Knights go through a pretty intense set of final trials before they are named a full member of the force, usually involving a survival test on a remote world, as well as forging their armor to wear in battle. they have to forge their armor before the test and wear it to face their enemies during the survival challenge - if the armor isn't forged properly, it will not protect them, and they will more than likely die. if they die they weren't worthy of the gift of the Force (earned in service to a greater goal, aka their empire and emperor), etc etc. when Knights die their fellows will usually attempt to recover a piece of armor or a weapon to enshrine as a memory to the person who made it.
armor has to be uniform, but as i've mentioned Zakuul is All About Art, so the weapons can be customized in small ways! also a lot of Knights will add designs to the insides of their armor pieces as a way to mark them as theirs. if a fully intact piece of designed armor can be recovered from a dead body, the dead person's friends and family will often come together to paint the forged designs and turn it into a real artwork.
there are definitely Funky Religion Things going on with a lot of the Knights too but i need to figure out more of that before i start putting it on tumblr lol so! i'm sorry this is so long you did NOT know what you were getting into when you asked me this but Thank You

In Knights Of The Fallen Empire or Knights Of The Eternal Throne - I can't remeber which - there's one chapter where The Outlander needs to recruit the Mandalorians into The Alliance by helping to destroy a Skytrooper factory. Or something like that, it's been a few years since I played it.
And there's one scene where Khomo Fett talks about how there's no glory in fighting droids, and I wanted to call him a fool because the honour and glory didn't come from what they were fighting against, but what they were fighting for.
The Skytroopers were the tools of an empire that wanted to make them kneel, to erase the Mando'ade and turn them into the subjects of a man who knew nothing of them. If they weren't stopped, the Skytroopers would be followed by people who would strip the fallen of their armour and melt it into slag.
Anything that wasn't melted would be used as trophies and decorations by coddled no-ones who've never heard of Mandalorians, let alone fought against them.
The proud warrior people would turned into a page in a history book, a culture erased by an empire that doesn't even respect them.
The survival of the Mado'ade, that is why they fought, and that is where the glory and honour laid.

consider this:
KOTET Chapter 7/8 takes place during Life Day. The Force is pissed off with Valkorion being Valkorion, so inexplicably uses space magic to retell A Christmas Carol (a Life Day Carol?) with Vaylin.
I just think that would be cool. Maybe even make it the Muppet version for a laugh. Does Star Wars have muppets? use skytroopers instead of muppets. none of the new expansions have any joy or whimsy and it is slowly killing me

EPISTULAE - Those Five Years
A series of letters my characters send to each other or to some companions between 16 and 21 ATC, while the Outlander is frozen in carbonite. I may write more of them in the future as I figure out what everyone of them was doing, and I will update this post.
See the end for some notes.
————————————
The Force has spoken to me once more. For what our differences are, I know it has spoken to you as well.
I am going into hiding, and bring those who want to follow me. You may criticize me for my cowardice or inertness in your next letter if you wish, but I hope one day I can explain you my reasons for such a choice in person, and that you will understand.
For the first time in months, the path is clear. It is now the moment for us to retire, so we can return stronger in the future, and fight once more.
“When the Faithful shall doubt
When the Proud shall rest in pride
and the One who once escaped will dare to look behind,
The Spark shall ignite once again”
This is what my visions said to me, this is the time when we will act. Though when this future will come, I do not know. For now, all I can hope is that, when the signs will manifest, you and I will be able to recognize them.
Until then, stay safe.
S.N.
[Classified dispatch delivered to Darth Nox, 18 ATC]
————————————
Theron,
I had good news from my sister, more or less. Some days ago, a group of Zakuulans arrived to her enclave, disguised as refugees. They definitely knew were to look and for who. Sofia obviously had them spitting out everything in a matter of hours with all that charm of her. I would have opted for a blaster to their heads, but that’s not the point.
They’re deserters, Theron, DESERTERS. And apparently willing to give some infos you and Lana might want to hear, but let’s leave the rest for when we meet in person. Those fuckers already know too much about my businesses for my own tastes.
As if we hadn’t our hands full already, their leader says one of the damn Knights is hunting him down. We have to move quickly, I’ll find a way to have him brought here, so I can see for myself if this guy is as useful as Sof says. She also kept mentioning some Force vision and one of those cryptic poems she writes, but I think I’ll keep relying on facts.
Whatever blasted hell you are in, fly safe.
Elias
[Message delivered to Theron Shan’s personal shuttle, 19 ATC]
————————————
Malavai,
By the time you read this, I will already be in the Unknown Regions.
I know I will disappoint you with my decision, and as I leave Dromund Kaas that is my only regret. But my instincts have never betrayed me, and it is my intention to follow them, even if this time they bring me far from you, from our son and our home.
For the first time, Lana and Theron seem to have a true lead. A part of me still refuses the idea of a single Jedi being the key of this war, but I am willing to take the risk if this can save the Empire from its degrading condition.
I now speak to you not as your Lord, not as the Empire’s Wrath, but just as a wife, and a mother. In the name of what we shared, I ask you to read carefully.
This message will automatically delete as soon as you close it. For no reason you must be linked to my actions in any way. If there is any affection for me left in your heart, do not try to reach out to me until I do it myself. Do not try to find me, or send agents trying to.
Take our son and leave Kaas City. To defy the Council has consequences, the capital is NOT safe.
Watch over Vidarr and stay safe, my love.
Rhy’Lis
[Automatic message sent to Captain Malavai Quinn’s personal frequency, 19 ATC]
————————————
Consider yourself lucky, for your husband had the sense to contact me instead of his dear High Command before the whole Empire could learn about your foolish act.
I won’t even begin to explain how much of what we were planning is now undone. I thought you had come to terms with your mistake of favoring Acina, years ago. All she was able to do was condemning us all to this humiliating subjection. Your support to my claim as Emperor would have been invaluable, since every other remaining Lord seems to lack any sense or nerve in these times. In light of your recent actions and the chaos that will succeed, I have no other choice than to keep working in the shadows.
But it is not my intention to send my army after you, or the Intelligence, not for the moment, even if it would be my pleasure to scold you in person. Another one already came to me before, sure that what you, Shan and Beniko intend to do it is the ultimate solution to turn the tables of this conflict. I remain skeptical about said “solution”, but should you succeed in your search, I will follow the developments with great interest.
I will do what I can so no one learns about your true purpose. However, I don’t think I will be able to do much for the reputation you shall gain in the eyes of the Dark Council and of the Empress. Most likely, they will decide to mark you as a traitor when Zakuul comes to us, demanding explanations for the sudden absence of the Wrath.
I trust you won’t be foolish enough to answer this message. I will wait for more favorable times, should you hear from me again.
Nox
[Encrypted message delivered to the Empire’s Wrath personal ship, 20 ATC]
————————————
It has to be tonight, Elara.
We finally have a lead. If what I learned from Theron and Lana is true, we are closer to Master Mynehart than ever before.
My family got us an unregistered ship that will be ready by the end of the day, settled on a route for Zakuul. No one will stop us at the spaceport.
Aric and Yuun are coming too, and I was able to persuade the others. We’ll leave Forex behind for now, too many risks. And I heard nothing from Tanno.
I am aware of the position I am putting you in, but this inertness is sickening to say the least. Havoc’s dismissal was the last insult; as a soldier of the Republic I can’t tolerate this situation any longer.
Docking bay 61-b, 20.00
I trust to see you there, my friend.
Clotilde
[Message delivered to Sergeant Elara Dorne, later turned in to Supreme Commander Jace Malcom, 20 ATC]

THE SPARK IGNITES ONCE AGAIN
THE SPARK IGNITES ONCE AGAIN
THE SPARK IGNITES ONCE AGAIN
[Transmission repeated on every available frequency approximately 48 hours after the Outlander’s escape, 21 ATC. Zakuulan Intelligence wasn’t able to detect the exact source]

NOTES:
Battlemaster Phoebe Mynehart is the Outlander.
My Sith Warrior, Rhy’Lis Akrasia, joined Lana and Theron on their search for the Outlander.
Barsen’thor Sofia Naerie and Domiras Kallig aka Darth Nox have been secretly in contact, exchanging informations and trying to limit the sabotage actions between the Republic and the Empire. Rumor has it that they have been emotionally involved.
My Smuggler, Elias Naerie, is Sofia’s older brother and helps her by smuggling goods and transporting refugees to various safehouses around the Galaxy.
Clotilde Feyre, my Trooper, remained in command of Havoc Squad, and is an open opposer to the peace treaties with Zakuul.
