I went to @marthastewart #madeinamerica at her omnimedia studios a few years back. It was amazing- the talented attendees and speakers. So many ‘ah-haaa’ moments. But one concept kept popping up- authenticity. Huh, really? People create authenticity? It really stuck with me- if you’ve ever been to my studio, it’s an authentic immersive experience!! Full of my career, my family, my loves, my obsessions, my whimsy, and my touch. It’s ever evolving, depending on the muse swirling about in my head! This photo of my grandparents on their wedding day has been Somewhere in the studio since I opened. She didn’t wear white- she travelled from Arkansas to New York to be with him. They met when he was working with the Army corp of engineers building the roads through the Ozarks. He was driving a Stutz Bearcat, wearing jodhpurs. She was a tall strawberry blonde. You really want to tell me, that I grow up in Hamburg and Schleswig - Holstein and never someone mention to me, that we had our own "DIRNDL"? What you see above it the tradtional folklore clothes of the region "Holstein" (all under the "Eider River" in SH is the old Holstein Land; Above is Schleswig.) Mostly inspired by slawic clothes, where most people settled in early holstein had there roots!

I might be a little more boujee than I used to be, but don't think that I've forgotten where I come from. Not the typical thing you'll see coming out of Rose Gold's or Fiat Lux, but I had to share this insane conch orbital that my new buddy Garrett trusted me to do (well, half of it). They had a very old, lower placed conch piercing that they wanted to turn into an orbital, and I leapt at the opportunity to make it happen. I wonder did @ocularge invent this too? Cause this pre dates all his claims and so does all things Beastie and MCA related and he always had a skateboard with him check the archives. I wanna say this is summer 86 but could be 85 my memory’s f’d, regrdless Eli was a goober when we were skating up to the club that was 100 pct playing Hip Hop, @julesgayton whos in the pic probably was DJaying the clubs we rolled up too pulling up with his crates on his SKATEBOARD. @stackaly @paulmittleman and Jeremy Hemdersonwere in the mix, @jrosenblum1 might have been the promoter or at the door and @lysacooper was definitely hanging out. Man I was going to the Roxy with MCA in 83 pulling up on our skateboards. No one batted an eye. Lots of myths out there being told. I don’t claim I was the first to connect cultures, I have no want to that piece of real estate no one can claim this, it was cultural osmosis. All NYC white Graf kids skated in the late 70s hence the first Zoo York crew recognize Andy Kessler, Ali🙏🏼 and @erichazenyc who did early Def Jam graphics wheres his props Eli? Hip Hop came along and we got caught in its web, punk had gotten boring. The pic was organic and Paul Mittleman as weird as our relationship is made this photo happen. It wasn’t contrived, we all hung out and skated together (except Kevin he was just our boy). Anyways man lets be real cultures are bound to cross pollinate, Zoo York and Eli did some cool shit but lets not get too crazy over here and let our egos come into play with revisionist history and false narratives. SHUT which Zoos foundation is built on, which Eli did not start owns this real estate as much as anyone so give @mussoinc and peope like @harryjumonji some love while were at it🙏🏼.
