Timo has a post game interview and Liv will not leave him so she’s just cuddled up to him while he dose post game interviews.

Livia Meier is done.

Done with this arena.

Done with standing next to her mom when her dad is right. There.

DONE with Lio getting to go into the locker room with her dad and uncle while she has to stay with mommy. 

So when mama isn’t looking, she books it. Her little legs pump hard as she weaves through the various clumps of adults waiting in the main gathering area, up the ramp, to the locker room door where a man stands in front.

“Hi, my daddy is in there.” She points. The security guard knows her, has seen her with Timo countless times throughout his long career in jersey.

“Okay, but where is your mama?”

“Um, down there. She said I could go to him.” Liv lies boldly. 

“Oh okay.” He opens the door, letting Liv dash in.

Inside, she finds her dad surrounded by media personnel. He stands at his locker, in his sweaty post-game clothes, backwards hat on with two hands on his hips as he answers questions.

“Yeah, I mean, I think we need to keep focusing on playing our game from the drop of the puck. When we play like that, things go our way and it allows…” He lifts his gaze to the doorway, seeing his daughter, with the Devils logo on her cheek and her small jersey with Daddy and 28 on the back. “Livy?” He questions. “Can you guys let my daughter in for a second? Sorry.” He kneels down to her level. “Where is mommy?”

She knows better than to lie to her daddy like she did to the security guard. She brushes that off completely. 

“I miss you. Can we go home now?”

The reporters awe. 

“Not yet.” Timo chuckles. “Wanna sit in my locker and wait for me?”

“Yeah.” 

Timo takes her hand and helps her crawl into his spot on the bench. She glances over to the left, seeing her uncle Nico looking at her. 

“You want a snack?” Nico asks, holding up a cutie to her. He knows they’re her favorite fruit. She grins widely, snatching it from his hand. 

“Liv.” Timo corrects, a hand on her head between her two, high pigtails.

“Danke!” 

“Gern geschehen, Lieblingsnichte.” Nico gives her knucks, then resumes taking his other shin pad off.

Liv munches on her orange as she watches her dad answer interview questions. Timo strategically places his body to hide her from the cameras, asking everyone to keep her out of their frames. They all oblige, understanding how private the Meiers are about their children. 

“Thanks, Timo.” The group calls as he finishes his last answer.

“Thank you all. Sorry for the interruption.” He chuckles, turning to his daughter. “Okay, we need to get you back to mama. I’m sure she is worried.” His look is pointed to her. He grabs a pair of shorts, stuffing his feet into his Adidas slides, then puts his sweatshirt over his large shoulders. He helps Liv off the big bench, holding her hand out of the locker room with so many people moving around. Emma is outside the door, arms crossed over her chest, glaring. She zones in on Liv, then looks at her husband. 

“Thanks for the heads up!” Emma snaps at him.

“Baby, I was doing interviews, we just got done.”

“Liv, if you ever.. and I mean, EVER, run away from me again like that here, that will be your last game of daddy’s you watch live. You scared me!” Emma is clearly upset, scolding their daughter in frantic Swiss German. Timo feels bad that he continued his interviews without telling his wife their daughter was with him. 

“Sorry, mama.” Liv shrugs. Oh, she is most definitely not sorry. Emma pauses, stopping her reaction, then stands to her full height.

“Hurry up.” She snaps at Timo instead.

“I feel like you’re mad at me and I didn’t do anything.” Timo calls after where Emma is hoisting Liv up onto her hip. She shoots a glare over her shoulder at him.

“Go shower! You stink!” 

“You could join me?” Timo chuckles after her. 

The only sign that Emma hears is the way she sways her hips just for him as she walks away.

Old Time Hockey: Leafs Beat Up Canucks

WHAT A GAME!! Mike Babcock is sick to his stomach after this one. The Leafs had an opportunity to say who they are as a team and they did just that in this one.

Like I said, ole Babs must be sick to his stomach. In case you forgot, Babcock sat Spezza last year in the leafs home opener. The respected league veteran that signed for league minimum. A guy that grew up cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The guy had his whole family in the stands. Babcock needed to have a pissing contest and benched him ON OPENING NIGHT!! Well, Spezza must have had some water from the fountain of youth because he turned back the clock and had a great performance. I’ve felt that Spezza at times has definitely shown his age but has been a great role player in the bottom 6 for the buds. He ripped a slap shot from the dot to beat Demko in the first with a great screen in front of the net by Hyman. He added a deadly wrister in the second. But the best goal of the night was the one that gave him the hat trick. He grabbed the outlet pass at the redline and put the afterburners on right away. He blew past Edler and tucked the puck past Demko on a great move to beat both. The old man still has it folks!!

The first half of this game felt like it was going to be a close one. Neither team could pull ahead of the other but once the Leafs got rolling there was no stopping them. The big boys for the Leafs rolled again. Matthews added two to his totals. Tavares scored an even strength goal so the Toronto media can stop writing about that narrative finally. Mitch Marner added another point to his hot start. When those three all add points the way they did in this game it’s hard to stop them.

I also wouldn’t be a very good writer if I didn’t mention one of my favourite parts of this one. LATE in this one, Simmonds hit Quinn Hughes awkwardly (it probably could’ve been called a penalty) with Hughes going face first into the boards. Jordie Benn stepped in and the two of them had a fight and this one was old time hockey. The threw for a good 40 seconds with Simmonds landing some bombs. I loved to see it. A teammate sticking up for his d partner and a leader on the other side that can absolutely chuck the knucks. I’ll never hate seeing the Wayne Train knock some heads off.

These two will have a rematch on Saturday. I’m assuming some more fireworks will pop off and I can’t wait. I love this division!

Imagine Nico taking his little girl to the rink everyday while mom is a way (bachelorette or sister vacation), and she’s just having so much fun, she watches her dad and uncle jack practice, has lunch with them and hangs out with jack while nico goes into meetings/does recovery stuff

she wants to come to work with dad everyday now!

Normally, Timo watches Lucie and vice versa with Lio and Nico, but both hockey players are on the same schedule today. So, Nico calls in the ultimate reinforcement in Jack Hughes.

“Jacky, you were really fast today. Can you race around the ice with me? I want my hair to blow in the wind.” Lucie flips her brown locks out, causing chuckles from both Jack and her dad.

“Lu, I’ve got some stuff to do. You’re going to hang with Jack, okay?” Nico says as he takes his helmet off. “Thanks, man. Lexi and Emma are on the Bach trip and I didn’t know what to do today.” 

“No prob. We will have fun, huh kid?” He extends his glove for knucks.

Jack takes Lucie back onto the ice and they skate around for a bit until Jack wants to pass the puck back and forth. Lucie immediately gets bored and begins to make a few snow angels on the ice.

“You could be pretty good at hockey if you cared.” Jack chuckles, helping her back onto her feet. “Where is your cuz today?”

“With grandma and grandpa.” Lucie says.

“And you’re not?”

“His other ones.” Lucie giggles. “We have two.” 

“Ohhhhh is that how it works.” He laughs. “Hey, sit tight here. I’m gonna go change.”

“Can I have two dollars?” She asks, causing him to pause. He shrugs handing her the bills out a few minutes later.

“Wait. What are you going to do with it?” He turns to ask. Lucie is already gone, making Jack nervous. He changes fast and sighs in relief when Lucie has returned, sitting on the bench and… putting on tattoos. 

“Look at this one.” She shows him the blue butterfly. “I want it on my cheek.” Jack shrugs, helping her hold the thin paper there and peeling it away. It's temporary, so what is the harm?

“Nice!”

Lucie, seeing the extra ground he is giving, begins to play him like a fiddle.

“My daddy said I could have Skittles while I wait for him.” 

“No, daddy always lets me watch YouTube videos on his phone.”

“I’m cold. I need hot chocolate.”

“Can we go to McDonalds?” 

“Sure.” He says, standing up, suddenly feeling tired.

Lucie pops a handful of skittles in her mouth as Uncle T walks by, double taking at her with Jack. His eyes scan over the empty candy wrappers, hot chocolate, and butterfly tattoo on her face.

“LuLu.” He starts laughing as she grins, showing him her colorful teeth. “You’re gonna be in it.” He says to her in Swiss German. “Him too.”

“Yeah.” She starts laughing harder, slapping her knee. “But daddy will go easy on me.”

When Lexi comes home from her trip, Lucie proudly proclaims that she's going to work every day with daddy to hang with Jacky. Lexi thinks otherwise. Her face tattoo is turning out to be a little more permanent than Jack thought it would be.

"You and Jack get into too much trouble. Next time, you're with Lio and his grandparents." Lexi looks over at Nico who shakes his head in astonishment.
