ok so after HEAVY consideration for everyones roles ive come to this conclusion for the main 4

Sonic is the fated hero of the galaxy, whose arrival and defeat of the Dark Matter controlling Eggman was prophesized on the ancient ruins of angel island.

All life on angel island was eradicated hundreds of years ago by Chaos, Knuckles was the sole survivor. The puffball species are a rare species of mobian that grow from particular kinds of Chao with a gene mutation, gaining their animal traits from the world around them and having abnormally long lifespans (Sonic knuckles and shadow). Chao had been completely wiped out in the purge of angel island, until knuckles discovers a single egg remaining.

Tails is Bandana Dee bc he n kirby are best friends, and also Bandana Dee can fly by spinning his spear very fast and its like tails :]

and Rouge is DDD!! Dedede isnt nearly enough of a bad guy to be Eggman, and i think rouge being the self declared queen and having a rivalry with tiny shithead sonic is very funny.

DDD usually acts in self interest, kinda just doing his own thing no matter who objects. But there are times where his seeming selfishness is actually an act of good to stop danger, which i think is a very lowkey rouge move

and other times he doesnt wanna give kirby the crystal shard just bc hes a prick, another very top ten rouge moment.
