You know, you watch Demon Slayer and if you love the manga as much, no matter what, Ufotable still manages to surprise us with their immaculate animation. And also, the voice acting? Each and every millisecond of this anime is so precious, so beautiful. I love Demon Slayer so freaking much. I'm glad KnY is the first ever anime I watched. KnY is PHENOMENAL. Game changer for me.
These screenshots don't do justice that is the world of Demon Slayer!

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕋𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖, (KNY fanfic) chapter 2 and 3 artworks.
In these illustrations, we witness the initial meeting between young Rengoku Kyojuro and Nagase Kanoko, the heiress of a lineage of independent demon huntresses practicing Time Breathing. Kanoko was training alone in a meadow on the outskirts of Ebara, the town near Kyojuro's home village, Komazawa. Enthralled by her mastery of this unique Breathing style, the eldest Rengoku was quick to express his (loud and enthousiastic) desire to become her sparring partner.
They trained together for a brief period before Kyojuro embarked on the Final Selection trial. In the second illustration, Kyojuro proudly showcases his Kisatsutai gakuran to Kanoko shortly after returning from the Final Selection.
Creating manga-style art is always enjoyable and relaxing for me. I hold deep admiration for Gotouge and Ufotable artists. I hope to pay proper respect to their work through the forthcoming series of fan arts I'll make for the whole fic :3
If you're interested in checking out "The Tears of Time", you can find it here. (Also available on AO3 and Quotev)
You can already have a peek of the next illustration on my Ko-fi (which will unlock you one very steamy chapter too ;D) or my Patreon!
@altarusse @moonchhu guess you might be interested <3

do u write for senjuro (from kny)?
I haven’t yet but I can just imagine how he is when you’re Kyojuro’s partner.
Senjuro would constantly ask when you’re coming over so he could ramble on about his entire day to you. No words could express how excited he would get knowing his 2nd favorite person was coming over.
Senjuro would request to sit by you during mealtimes. One of the reasons being just so he could get on his older brothers nerves. If anything, he’d squeeze his way in between you two just for the fun of it, sticking out his tongue at his brothers remarks and making sure you got first pick out of everything (both Kyojuro and Shinjuro cannot stand it).
Senjuro would stand up for you out of kindness when Kyojuro would playfully tease you. He’s too blinded by his little “crush” phase to understand that his brother is joking. He’d get all red faced and serious, demanding that his brother treat you with respect (which makes Kyojuro laugh even more).
Senjuro would be a huggeee book worm. He’d fill you in on all the important details of the book he’s reading, whether it was part of a series; a reread; or something he’s never read before. He’d even let you borrow some from his collection if you asked.

I will post these two on separate posts (that's why I screenshotted this ask) because I prefer it that way.
Kimetsu no yaiba is certainly better than some other shonen out there when it comes to writing women. But the manga is not that layered in general, and that includes the female characters. I'm not gonna lie the titty fanservice with Tengen's wives and Mitsuri is a bit annoying, them wearing nonpractical clothes just so the audience could oggle them (you know it's possible to make a character attractive without making them look dumb or degrading like Oda and Kubo often do). But compared to certain other shonens it's not as bad on that aspect.
However, I think Tengen's wives are just eye candy and I don't like them. I don't even like the implication that a man having multiple wives is good but whatever, I'm not gonna harp on that. A lot of the demons, male or female, have some characterization, which is fine. But the way Daki's past was portrayed, eh. Not a fave. Once again a female character's trauma was not recognised or explored from her point of view.
Aoi, I like what was done with her, despite her being a rather minor character. Not everyone is cut out for fighting, and instead of forcing it she dedicated herself to treating and training others. And she is very effective at it with her no-nonsense attitude. She is is something Hinata would be if she was a likeable character, instead of getting in the way because she's weak.
Mitsuri... she's okay, I didn't dislike her. She's more of a typical anime girl, ditzy and girly. But she could actually fight, which is nice. I do think her and Obanai's characters both being connected to self loathing and wanting to be loved made them a good duo mirroring each other.
Tumblr media
Nezuko is often said to be more of a pokemon than a character, and there is some truth to it. But she is still a caring girl that is not afraid to protect her friends and brother from an enemy no matter how formidable. The biggest issue with her is her lack of voice compared to the other characters. And I mean her opinions and perspective, we don't hear much of it. But we see some of her emotions, and those are touching moments, especially the ones with her brother, and that's what makes her leave an impression to the viewers and care about her. And she has strong willpower even when she is no longer a demon, protecting others from her brother and also trying to help him despite the possibility of being killed. But yeah, she is her brother's motivation and pokemon a lot of time...
Tumblr media
Tamayo is a good supporting character. She is intelligent, wise, an incredible doctor, and strong in her own way, despite not having the kind of powers the fighters in the series have. She had her own goal of researching demons and transformation and being a doctor who helps others with her vast medical knowledge, including the main cast. I liked her hatred of Muzan contrasting her normally calm and kind persona, and also her feelings about being a human. So yes, I like her.
Tumblr media
When Shinobu is first introduced she just comes off as this troll character who has some screw loose. She wears a mask, acting all cheerful and teasing, but inside there's a lot of anger because of what happened to her loved ones... she also has an inferiority complex towards the other Hashira, and uses poison. The plot twist about her fight with Douma was pretty good, but she wasn't focused on enough in my opinion. Which is the case with a lot of kny female characters. They have decent backstories and motivations, but the impression they leave isn't very strong. But to be fair, I also felt the mangaka rushed with Rengoku too.
Tumblr media
Kanao. She has a nice character arc. She had a traumatic past that made her repress her feelings and her behavior became indecisive. But her will to fight against demons strengthened when she saw her loved ones being hurt. She learned Flower Breath just by watching Kanae. She also learns to express her feelings more. In her fight against Douma, it was nice to see her being a little assholish haha I like when female characters get crazy and vindicative. It's also great to see her have such a strong relationship with other women. And it was nice how she got a final moment to shine when Tanjirou went demonic.
So yes, better than some other shonen, but leaves much to be desired. But KNY isn't very deep or layered to begin with. Which is fine, it was still a rather enjoyable read/watch.

[Chapter 1] [Chapter 2] [Chapter 3] [Chapter 4] [Chapter 5] [Chapter 6] [Chapter 7]
~*~
King Inosuke, ruler of Kirauai. Also known as “King of the Mountains” or “the Boar King”. A fearsome, ruthless man who took his place upon the throne by force. He’s cruel, cold, he laughs at the pain of others and he’s never apologized a day in his life. That is the reputation he must uphold. Because without such a reputation, no one takes him seriously.
And so, when the Sun Warrior, Kamado Tanjiro, throws open the doors to his throne room and rushes across the royal blue carpet leading right to him, he keeps his face neutral and unsurprised. In truth, he really wasn’t surprised. He was well aware that Tanjiro had been making his way to him. The trail of destruction and bodies he left in his wake was difficult to miss. So many of the King’s Boar Knights lost due to this red-haired man who wields the power of the sun. All of the death left the King sick to his stomach, but so did the thought of destroying the man storming towards him.
Not surprised to see him here, no, but extremely saddened instead. He had been hoping that he’d never have to actually look Kamado Tanjiro directly in the face, but it appears his wishes did not come true. Sighing internally, he narrows his eyes as he looks down at the man intruding in his place. He gives his guards a wave of his hand, telling them to hold off. He’d like to hear what the Warrior has to say.
“Kamado Tanjiro.” King Inosuke calls out, his deep voice echoing throughout the large room. “I was wondering when we’d officially meet.” He says calmly.
“Inosuke Hashibira!!” The Warrior shouts, a fierce, determined expression on his face. “I have come here to kill you!!”
The King can’t help the laughter that bursts from his lips, his amusement surprising himself. “You? Kill me?” He questions, his words filled with a level of arrogance that people never believe he was actually born with. “What makes you so sure you could do such a thing?”
Anger starts to bleed through into the Warrior’s expression. “I refuse to accept anything less. I’ll kill you if it’s the last thing I do.” The redhead grits out, his arm extending out in front of him in order to point his sword at the King sitting upon his throne.
King Inosuke’s face falls into a cold mask, his voice completely monotone. “Do you truly think that killing me is going to do good for this country? That you’re going to help the people by getting rid of me?”
"Don’t you realize what you’ve done!?” The Warrior exclaims, expression filled with rage, the flame mark on his forehead flaring. “How far you’ve gone!?” His grip on his sword visibly tightens, but it’s also clear that he’s shaking. “How many people have died to achieve this world domination of yours!?" Tears prick at the man’s eyes and the King tries to shake off the quivering of his limbs at such a question. At the reminder.
"769.” He states simply, without hesitation.
"...What?" The man before him falters slightly, though he tries to hide it.
"769 people died to achieve my plans. I counted them, and had each of their names etched on my throne so I never forget what my victory cost the world.” The black-haired man explains. “Now tell me, how many have you killed to see me dead?" He demands.
Tanjiro falters at his words. "I didn't..." He shakes his head, the fierce look in his eyes returning. "The only ones I killed were your men!! Those who were already killing others!!"
King Inosuke, leans forward atop his hand-carved throne, expression unreadable. "Yes, and I'm asking you. How many have you killed, Monjiro?"
For a few minutes, there's nothing but silence. Neither of them move from their positions and it's only the King who can see all the emotions flickering across the Warrior's face. Only the King knows how spooked the man before him is.
"I-I-" With a stuttered gasp, the sword slips from his hands, clattering to the marble floor.
"How many have you killed?" The question whispers through his mind on repeat.
Another gasp and he falls to his knees, chest heaving. "I-I don't-" He clutches his chest, to rip his heart out or attempt to calm it down, no one is certain. "How many have I- What have I- What-I-"
Nothing coherent falls from his lips, as if the man is unable to truly process the question he's been asked. The King watches him with a frown and hard eyes, though if anyone looked closely enough, they would see the shine of tears. But no one realizes their King is on the verge of weeping. He's too far away from them, and none of them dare to get closer.
King Inosuke nods to his guards hovering behind Tanjiro and they immediately grab him under his arms and start dragging him away. The Warrior never even registers what's happening to him, too far into his own head to realize that his body has been captured. The King didn’t realize how easy it would be to break him. He finds himself questioning if doing it was actually a good thing or not long into the rest of the day.
~*~
A/N: What do you all think?? This AU is quite interesting and I LOVE fantasy settings like this, so I'm super excited. One thing, Kirauai, the name of their country/continent, is meant to be pronounced as "Keer-uh-way". But anyways, please, tell me what you think!! Feedback from my readers is always so important to me!!

Lemme know if you'd like to be added to the taglist!!

my thoughts on canon Tanjirou
(Will have manga spoilers!)
Prefacing this by saying that I love Tanjirou. He’s like up there in the top 5 of my faves in this series, and I genuinely do enjoy his characterization in the first half of KNY. There are some little issues in said first half, but those are very nitpicky and really aren’t needed; he’s functional as is.
However, there is one major thing about Tanjirou that actually spans the entirety of the series, which I don’t see many people pointing out.
Tanjirou doesn’t really change from the beginning to the end of the story. From the beginning, he’s a happy go lucky kind of guy who’s been through some shit but ultimately remains positive. At the end, literally nothing has changed. For a story so heavily steeped in tragedy and the concept of change being inevitable, he sure doesn’t go through a lot of it and it makes him quite boring as a main protagonist.
I believe it has to do with how he’s not really “challenged.” Yes, he encounters people who parallel him in the narrative (Gyutaro, Sanemi), but he’s always seen in the right. When he gets angry, it’s always righteous. When he’s sad, it’s always to help sympathize with other people’s pain. He’s framed as the example that others should strive to follow, the beacon of light and hope, the perfect older brother, and any conflicts he may have are solved by showing how truly kind and thoughtful he is that it changes peoples’ hearts.
He’s not treated as very human.
I, for one, can’t tell you a single flaw Tanjirou has that has honest to god fucked him over. His stubbornness, his overprotectiveness of Nezuko, his hardworking personality, and his own overwhelming kindness are never made into faults. The narrative always wants to paint these attributes as positive without ever expressing the negative aspects that would realistically show in a person like him. He’s not taken advantage of. He’s not stifling. He knows when to quit when he’s in pain. He knows, he knows, he knows, and when he pushes his body past its natural limit, he gets literal powerups. He’s rewarded for harmful behaviors, and he’s never seen in the wrong for it.
(Like, bro. Are you telling me he’s literally been in a constant feverish state for who knows how long, and he hasn’t permanently fucked up his immune system or passed out once? Okay...)
I’ve had people praise me for giving my Tanjirou anger issues, but all I’ve really been doing is taking the perceived flaws that he has, pushing them a little, and showing the natural consequences of those behaviors. If not internally through very concerning thought processes, then externally with people getting worried or even getting hurt. He’s allowed to be selfish, angry, annoyed, upset, flawed. His environment is allowed to respond to those feelings in turn.
Canon can’t really say the same, can it?
@mayoiayasep because its your boy

nezuko kamado: extremely popular, yet often overlooked {MAJOR MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD}
Tumblr media
Oftentimes, while Nezuko is greatly loved by fans for her cuteness and strength, her character writing and role in the story is grossly overlooked and under-appreciated - I see people constantly pass her off as poorly written and wasted potential. Personally, I think there’s far more to her character than most people perceive, if you just look even a little deeper - Nezuko is the centre of kny’s story, and in a way, I think much of demon slayer is Nezuko’s story told through Tanjiro’s perspective.
One of the most common themes of the series is identity, we see quite a few of the other characters struggle with their sense of self - Muichiro, Kanao, Mitsuri, Akaza - but Nezuko is by far the most prominent.
At its centre, kny is about Nezuko recovering not just her humanity, but her identity as well. In the beginning of the series, she suffers an incredibly traumatic loss and in the process of losing her humanity, her identity fractures.
We see pieces of her shattered identity within her demon forms - her youngest form is playful, cute and sweet, her regular form calm, caring and responsible but also deeply protective, and her demonic adult form is unpredictable, powerful, sometimes violent and rageful. While she’s most commonly seen in her regular being, I think her full demon form is deeply important. It's when we see her express her strongest emotions, hence why it is very hard for other people to control.
Tumblr media
As the story goes on, we see these fragments begin to come together as she regains her humanity - there’s also an undertone of Nezuko finally coming to accept what happened to her. I think one of the reasons she is so removed from her identity is also her fear of accepting the loss she experienced - the times where we see her briefly remember her family's deaths are traumatic. She becomes uncontrollably angry, and feels her grief full force - but only for a few moments before she returns to a different form and has to reign what she is feeling back in.
Tumblr media
When it comes to Nezuko’s character, the most important thing to her is her family. She is able to see every human as a member of her family, because it is her driving force behind not losing herself entirely. It’s in the final chapters of the series that she finally confronts and accepts this part of herself. When she fully returns to being human the first thing she thinks is “I am Nezuko Kamado. a demon killed my family.” - she recognises that the loss she experienced is a part of her, and was essential to regaining her humanity fully, no matter how painful it is to bear.
Tumblr media
Nezuko also fits into another very common theme, we see a lot character’s different experiences with anger and how they respond to it - it is a deeply important emotional theme to the story. She is much like Tanjiro in this aspect, it’s deeply important to both of their characters that they should never be consumed by their anger - rather they control it, and it guides them when they need.
Tumblr media
And when it does leave their control, they are the ones to help pull each other back. Just like during the entertainment district arc, when Nezuko almost breaks her promise and gives into her demon self, Tanjiro is who holds her back and helps bring her back to herself.
During the final chapters, it’s Nezuko who does the same for him. It’s her voice that reaches him first - and reminds him of who he is, and what he’s worked towards the entire story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both revolve around each other, just as the story revolves around them. It’s not difficult to notice that they tend to have breakthroughs in power/capability at similar times. During the entertainment district arc they both find extreme power for the sake of protecting others, but push themselves too far for their own anger, and almost lose themselves for it. During swordsmith village, Tanjiro properly finds his feet with sun breathing - it’s no coincidence that the end of the arc remarks Nezuko’s discovered immunity to the sun.
It seems like people see what’s presented of her character in the early parts of the series (aka the barebones of her characterisation) and take that surface level as her character in its entirety - while i definitely agree that she’s not the best written character in the series, and she’s far from perfect, most people give her much less credit than she deserves.
There is even more here I could breakdown as part of her character - how she fits into demon slayers exploration of grief and loss through familial relationships, or what her dynamic with Muzan and the power he attempts to have over her means for their characters - but this is already fairly long, so I’d consider it a basic exploration of her most prominent themes: identity and humanity

Various KNY x Fem! OC
Warning: Graphic violence and blood. Mature content later in the series.
Tumblr media
Gaia knew there was no way she would make it out alive. She had come to terms with it and accepted her fate with sadness, but ultimately with understanding. What she couldn't accept however, was watching the people she loved be slaughtered yet again.
There was nothing she could do.
Again.
"GAIA!" Tanjiro screamed, watching in horror as the upper moon demon kicked the young girl with such force that she went flying into the nearest tree.
Several cracks were heard which made Tanjiro's eyes water, not catching any movement from his friend.
He couldn't watch the girl's fight any longer. Tanjiro struggled to stay conscious as he was battling the lower moon demon Rui. The water hashira, Giyu, was doing his best to aid Gaia but ultimately both were severely injured while the two demons remained virtually unharmed.
Rui made his way over to Tanjiro, Nezuko still bound by the tight threads above their heads. As Rui extended his arm to unleash his threads for the last time, Gaia opened her eyes just in time to watch the young boy die.
"NO!" Gaia sobbed, rushing towards the boy, her body protesting in absolute agony.
Before Gaia could reach the young Kamado, she was thrown back but the upper moon and looked to her right seeing Giyu sprawled out on the ground next to her unmoving.
The tears would not stop falling as the young girl prayed for her end to come so that it would be all over.
Gaia tried to desperately crawl back over to Tanjiro to at least hold his hand once more but her vision began to blur. She willed herself further, but as she finally reached Tanjiro, a sharp pain went through her torso making her cry out in pain.
The last image the girl saw was Tanjiro's lifeless eyes staring at her, blood dripping from his slightly open mouth and his pained expression.
She failed. Again.
Her vision faded along with the warmth from her body as Gaia took her last breath and descended into darkness on Mount Natagumo.
Tumblr media
Gaia woke up and took in the dark sky, already comprehending her surroundings. A tear slid down her face as she recalled the events from her previous lives.
She promised herself she wouldn't let them die again.
Gaia could only sadly recall the fleeting touches of the burgundy haired male, his bright smile that reminded her of the sun, and his warm presence that put her at ease.
She longed to interlace their fingers as she smiles gently at their hands, reassurance flooding through her veins due to his touch. All of the sleepless nights, knowing looks, and longing gazes were a thing of the past once again.
Hearing footsteps approaching, Gaia made no attempt to move from her spot. Instead she lowered her head to meet the red eyes of someone precious to her.
His eyes held no love and no recognition of a familiar face.
Instead, she was greeted with a timid smile and worried expression as he uttered the words that she had heard many times before to the point where she had them memorized.
"Excuse me miss, are you alright? My name is Tanjiro Kamado. My house is right up ahead. Please join me! It is too dark and too cold for you to be outside like this. What's your name?" he said, holding out his hand.
The warmth in his voice invaded Gaia's ears as she recalled the many times he would utter her name with such love and fondness, yet Tanjiro was blissfully unaware of who the girl sitting in front of him was.
Gaia tried to stop the tears from coming, but as he looked at her with so much concern without any memories of what they went through together, she couldn't hold back her sobs.
Tanjiro had no idea what to do, but he could smell the devastating sadness and guilt surrounding the girl and he almost choked on the smell alone. It was so suffocating to him.
What could she have possibly experienced to produce such an intense smell?
The way the girl in front of him smelled was so utterly sad that Tanjiro's eyes began to water as well as he engulfed the girl in a hug, vowing to help her in any way that he possibly could. He whispered soft reassurances in her ears while rubbing her back gently but her scent was unrelenting.
Several minutes passed as Gaia still sat in the snow in Tanjiro's arms crying as if there were no tomorrow. Eventually her loud sobs became quiet sniffs as she calmed herself down. The warmth from Tanjiro brought back so many memories that made her descend into despair, but she was so happy to see him again and know that she could save him this time.
She was going to save him this time. No matter what.
Tanjiro noticed that the young girl had stopped crying for the most part and reluctantly pulled away from her, looking into her mesmerizing green eyes. If he weren't so worried about the poor girl, he definitely would have blushed at their close proximity.
Instead, he smiled and stood up, extending his arm for Gaia to grab it.
For the Thirteenth time, Gaia grabbed it and walked towards his home.
This is the last time. She swore.
She would save him so that she would never have to hear him ask for her name ever again.

resident evil or kny?
Im going to do kny since Resident Evil is such a huge, plot hole ridden franchise i don't even know where to begin and I was always a Silent Hill gal anyways lol
Favourite Male Characters: Akaza, Douma, Kokushibou, Gyutaro and Tanjiro (well for the first part of the series at least)
Favourite Female Characters: Shinobu, Mitsuri, Tamayo and Koyuki
Least Favourite Characters: I am going to exclude characters that are meant to be disliked so:
Ok rants incoming under read more
1) Kagaya: Others have written much more detailed essays on why his writing is bad. The thing about Kagaya that annoys me the most are not exactly his actions but the way the narrative unironically frames him as this pure, perfect figure that can do no wrong. His most questionable actions like his very uncomfortable relationship with Sanemi, encouraging Shinobu to basically kill herself, him killing his own children etc. are all swept under the rug in favour of an extremely boring character. Imagine if Kagaya was actually presented as a flawed, human being.
Like, he wants to kill Muzan for the greater good, but in order to reach this goal he is willing to manipulate, deceit, encourage self-destructive behaviours among the slayers and throw anyone under the bus, even his own family that would make a much more interesting character and actually humanize him . It would even make him a parallel to Muzan by how willing they both are to ruin lives to reach their own goals (this would also require to make Muzan not be pure evil, you know a bit of a ying yang symbolism) but well we are stuck with this I guess.
Also on a sidenote am i the only one that gets weird cult vibes when it comes to Kagaya's relationship with the pillars. Especially in his introduction, Sanemi's flashback and Rengoku Gaiden (where Sanemi acts like a literal dog around him, yikes man)
2) Nezuko: I do not hate Nezuko but I hate her writing if that makes sense. Despite being the deuteragonist she is treated more akin to a cute mascot. She is constantly sidelined, her agency always taken away from her, she is given the most contrived power ups, she acts like a puppy (and I know that we are given an excuse in the manga on why she acts like this but i do not find that reason sufficient) and she is almost never allowed to talk nor are we shown her thought process.
Nezuko could have been such an interesting character. Maybe let her talk and express her thoughts and feelings, act like a girl her age (maybe she wears the muzzle only when she is in crowd filled with people and when the pillars and slayers that distrust her are around but removes it and talks when the Kamaboko squad, Kanao, Genya,Mitsuri, Aoi, Giyuu or Shinobu are around)
Edit: After this paragraph I made a huge rewrite of Nezuko's personality but since this is an ask game and not a how you would rewrite kny game I decided to edit it out. On a final note Nezuko should be given the same agency as her male counterparts ok goodbye.
Prettiest Characters: All of them tbh. Kotoha, mother spider demon, Kanae, Koinatsu-oiran, Haganezuka and the Tsugikuni twins being my favourites.
Funniest Character: Douma no competition, his first instict upon coming across two dying children on the street is to tell them wazzup, he gets killed and the first word he tells his murderer is "sup" like they are old college buddies. Kny AU where Douma says a your mom joke to Inosuke.
Favourite Arc: Despite it's myriad of flaws the Infinity Fortess arc is definetely my fav.
Favourite Episode: My favourite episode is Season 1 Episode 16. Spider mother demon's assisted suicide is one of the most beautiful and bittersweet moments in the series, def in my top 5. It perfectly showcases Tanjiro's empathy, it greatly humanizes the antagonist and just the music, the colours, the voice acting aghh.
Favourite Chapter: Akaza's backstory and death (i think it was chapters 154-156?) Just *sighhhhhhhhhh*
Favourite romantic ships:
Canon Ships: Hakuji and Koyuki is the only romantic relationship that Gotouge didn't manage to fuck up and i love them for it. How Koyuki and Hakuji clearly adore eachother and you can see why. How Koyuki and Keizou represent Hakuji's ability to love and his humanity and when they are cruelly taken away from him from other humans (recalling back to an earlier time where demons were portrayed as man-made monsters) it completely destroys him. I love a well-written tragic romance and those two just hit the spot for me. My emotional support bi4bi couple if you will.
Non Canon Ships: Shinomitsu like the power this ship holds... and how well those two compliment and parallel eachother with Mitsuri being insecure on her physical strength and Shinobu being insecure on her physical weakness and how they can help each other overcome said insecurities. We should have seen those two interact more in canon.
Kanao×Nezuko
I also like the Yoriichi× Sumiyoshi× Suyako polycule since Yoriichi deserves to be unconditionally loved, man went through a lot.
Favourite family ship: Gyutaro and Daki/Ume my beloveds. But like they are already related so idk what this question implies.
Favourite friendship: Kamaboko squad (when i say kamaboko squad, nezuko, genya, kanao, senjuro and aoi are always included the majority of their friendship is what i have written in my head but shh it's fine it's fine)
Worst Ships:
Canon Ships: Tanjiro × Kanao completely lacks any kind of romantic chemistry and it seems that they have been only paired up because she is girl and he is a boy, which, ughhhhh. Also the moment Kanae gives Kanao her coin and she implies Kanao will open up when she meets the boy she likes. Like babe, Kanao is so emotionally closed off due to trauma which was caused by being severely abused at home, the presence of a boy will not cut it.
Nezuko × Zenitsu is quite dreadful and it truly brings out the worst of Zenitsu's character. Not only does he act so obnoxiously and over possessive whenever he is near her but we also have no idea how Nezuko perceives him or if she is even able to comprehend his crush on her or if she can even form a romantic interest on her own since she acts like a kitten most of the time. Also the part where Zenitsu is frothing at the mouth because Sanemi pats Nezuko's head undermines his character development after his fight with Kaigaku. You are telling me the same manga that gave us this also gave us Hakuji and Koyuki? Like, okay.
Inosuke × Aoi: Aoi has more chemistry with the concrete wall in the Butterfly Estate than she does with Inosuke.
Non-Canon Ship:
Outside of the unmentioned gross shit like incest and pedophilia
Giyuu × Shinobu: I don't see it, i cannot see it, why is it such a popular ship ? (I mean we know why, that's rhetorical) I cannot perceive Shinobu and Giyuu as anything other than wlw×mlm solidarity/hostility. Like boys and girls can be friends with each other with no romantic motive, people.
Giyuu × Sabito: Someone described Sabito's and Giyuu's relationship as two 12 year old boys blowing raspberries at each other and...urmm...yeah...
Douma × Shinobu: No comment
Douma × Kotoha: heteronormativity is a disease

Why do you like Demon Slayer so much?
I---I don't know, Anon, w-why do you like breathing so much?
...because BREATH TECHNIQUE LOOKS WICKED AWESOME AMIRITE!??!!?
UFOTABLE MADE SUCH A FREAKING COOL LOOKING ANIME that both looks and sounds amazing with all that care put into it HOW COULD I NOT LOVE IT!? Such good source material too, ALL HAIL WANI-SENSEI!!!!
Or rather, to more eloquently express myself, I'll answer this in two parts: the "why" and "so much."
Why do I like it?
- Simplicity
It's a classic Good .vs. Evil story, a triumph of working hard and working together. It's Coming of Age and Hero's Journey, all themes that never get old because they're really good themes. KnY isn't even that fresh of a take if you boil it down to this, but it didn't need to reinvent the wheel, it just needed to be a good wheel to keep the story going.
I was grateful it ended when it did, it had a goal to accomplish and everything in the story worked toward that goal. I've fallen away from adventure shounen because I can never stay interested in super long series that get mercilessly extended past their natural life as cash cows. Not to sound like a Swamp Demon here, but this manga got to end while it was still young and beautiful.
The fighting mechanisms are complex enough to be fun to explore, but it's not as complicated as other shounen series, making the barrier to entry lower for first-time anime viewers. That's part of why I think it's been so successful. Plus, even though we get things like Red Blades and Marks later, their existence as ultimate techniques was in place from the start, so they felt believably set up and paid off. They made sense within the world building, even if they had to be dropped on the readers later so as to weekly serialization interesting.
It tackles deep themes, but doesn't overcomplicate them. Muzan being a simple villain and Tanjiro simply being good-hearted created interesting tension just fine, the motivations throughout the cast keep the story nicely driven.
- Depth
Although the story, world, and characters are simple enough for people of all ages and familiarity with anime to enjoy, if you want to scratch deeper than the surface level, the hundreds of thousands of words of meta and cultural background throughout my blog go to show that it's very, very easy to bury yourself deeper in it. In my case I already have years of obsession with Japanese culture to build on, so KnY fit very nicely into my niche. I already love samurai and oni and swords and such so that was already playing to my knowledge, but as a passionate nerd, it's also given me lots and lots of exciting new material to learn more about. But more about that later, suffice to say here that Gotouge is a very, very knowledgeable gator.
- Characters
THEY ARE JUST GOOD AND FUN AND UNIQUE DESIGNS IN THE FIRST PLACE, but also, I don’t feel like I already know these characters from other anime. Many of them defy being typecast, and even the ones that do feel like like other characters in a plethora of anime have such a unique spin to make them stand out in my heart. I'm sure I could be a nerd for plenty of other series, but it takes the right characters to make a fangirl.
Also, my emotions got manipulated excellently; I like Tanjiro and immediately wanted to root for him, but I ha-a-a-ated most of the rest of the cast until I got to spend a teeny-tiny bit more time with them, and then I liked them hopelessly. I got totally strung along and I love it when I can get strung along like this.
Why do I like it so much?
A lot of that comes down to my personal recipe of brain soup and the situation I already felt stuck in by the time I got into KnY, a few months prior to the pandemic. Watching the anime and feeling really into it came as a comfort while I was finding myself in what felt more like a situation than a good career move and feeling frustrated with the second draft of a novel which wasn't working. Then just as I had hoped there might be some improvements to my situation which I was holding out for, the pandemic changed everyone's plans.
Simply put, the isolation and stress in those early stages of the pandemic both gave me lots of time to explore and write fanfic and made me rely a lot on the joy I got out of KnY, and then I got so practiced at making KnY fanwork that this blog became like my bonsai I could cultivate in peace while most other things in life have continued to feel out of control. And dang it, I'm good at cultivating this bonsai of a blog! It's gratifying to feel good at something when real life is making you feel otherwise!
Hopefully the upcoming new start in a new city and in a new job that'll hopefully make me feel good at things again and provide some smidge more control over my life will make me less reliant on KnY for such a big share of my happy hormones, but...
THE HYPE IS PART OF WHAT I LOVE
IT IS
SO MUCH FUN BEING OBSESSED WITH A MAINSTREAM PHENOMENON
THERE ARE THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY EVERYWHERE
I SAY THESE CHARACTER NAMES AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT AND THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME
IT STAYS ON MY BRAIN BECAUSE IT IS EVERYWHERE
AND THIS IS SO COOL

ꕥ — WELCOME TO EXO COSMIA, NOE ARCHIVISTE. 🌑
Tumblr media
ꕥ  — OOC INFORMATION;
name / alias: vivian
age: 31
pronouns: she/they
ooc contact: StarryOtterVi @ twt ; melodychanges @ tumblr (for apps only)
other characters in xc: atsushi @ bsd, kaminari denki @ mha, ace trappola @ twst, agatsuma zenitsu @ kny
ꕥ  — IC INFORMATION;
name: noé archiviste
age: 20
pronouns: he/it
series: the case study of vanitas / vanitas no carte
canon point: ch. 50 ish!!
app triggers: blood mentions, death, family loss, mentions of depression, child death, child endangerment (his wiki is trigger heavy, proceed with caution!)
personality: Firstly, he’s a stubborn guy. Like, really, annoyingly, enough to annoy even Vanitas, stubborn. He will push forward with his objective, or any sort of goal he really has on his mind. He’s straight-forward with his words, and honest. He’s so honest, to the point it becomes a little jarring, leading to apologies. Though he doesn’t apologize as much as Zenitsu, he still says sorry often enough, in a sincere way.
He finds everything fascinating! “Woah, what’s that?” “Who is that?” “What did that person do?!” “Was that really what happened just now?!” …you get my point! Anything new to him is a new amazement! A wonderful glint to the eye! He’s like those birds attracted to the first shiny thing they see. He will even compliment his enemies that are fighting stupendously. Seriously.
But because of his fascination with things, he also has a tendency to “get lost”. It’s not that he doesn’t know where he’s going… erm. Supposedly. It’s the fact he is mesmerized by one thing, and once following that one thing, he suddenly… is somewhere else. Astonishing, it’s a wonder how he does it. This will happen very often. Sorry for anyone trying to find him.
He gets agitated. Surely, even a polite guy like him has his moments. When something sways him the wrong way, depending on what was said, he will retort back. He’s not afraid of talking back to someone, especially if he’s been around you for a while. You’ll hear his annoyance right away. But he doesn't do this as often. He’s another expressive character of mine. He’s not afraid to smack or punch if he needs to, depending on the situation.
Erm, it’s dense. It’s very dense. You thought Kaminari was dense? This guy is similar. It has trouble understanding certain situations. Please help it.
It’s also a little hypocritical. It will do one thing, then suddenly, it’s judging you for doing that thing and correcting you. Then, it will realize it also did that said thing. What just happened? He will notice his hypocrisy.
He will protect you. He will want to be your friend if you’re kind back to him. He’s a curious guy. He’ll stick to your side and listen to what you have to say. That doesn’t mean he’ll always listen if you tell him to do something– he is the type to share his own opinions, straight up. If you’re dishonorable to him, he will oppose you.
He’s instinctive, and impulsive. Sometimes, he forgets the time and place, and just goes for it. His gut feeling helps him constantly.
He has a strong, caring heart.
Even though he’s got a strong heart, he does have his own fears, his own guilt. His own doubts, the resolutions that he can’t resolve. He needs that push, that light shove, to break him out of his shackles. He shouldn’t be left alone too long.
something your muse struggles with: Holding back/faltering his own strength in certain situations. Uncertainty. He’s also dense with a lot of things. Guilt.
your muse’s greatest strength: Giving others the push they need to move forward. His honesty.
history / background: As an Archiviste, he’s able to read memories. He’s the only one left of the Archiviste Clan. An elderly couple adopted him, and they watched over him for years, knowing that he’s a vampire. Though humans and vampires don’t get along, Noe sees both as equal. When both his grandparents died, he was mistaken as a human, and taken in.
That’s when his teacher took him in as a disciple.
He became friends with his teacher’s two youngest grandchildren. Louis and Dominique were his childhood friends. They taught him things he didn’t really know, and sometimes he’d be called strange for his personality. Dominique would be with her parents a lot, but Louis stayed with Noe and his teacher often. Noe would hangout with Louis much as he could, but over time, Louis grew distant.
Noe found out that Louis stayed behind due to an “illness”. This illness later turned out to be because of the fact he’s a curse bearer, and Louis knew he didn’t have long to live. He kept making stakes for Noe to find later on. Louis ended up dying, right in front of Noe, and Noe has a tremendous amount of guilt for not saving another child from being killed due to a curse.
Later on, as he grows older, his teacher told him to search for The Book of Vanitas. That’s where, on the way to Paris on the airship, he finds Vanitas himself.
His teacher didn’t tell him to steal the book or destroy it, just to research and find out much as he can about it. Now, Noe has made it his goal to travel with Vanitas wherever he goes, no matter how irritating that might be for the other. He will not go against his teacher’s words.
He helps Vanitas free curse-bearers and gain their True Name’s, while trying to figure out the secrets of the book and Naenia, the one stealing True Names.
powers / abilities:
World Formula Interference — He’s capable of interfering with the world around him by altering it. He’s learned to defy gravity, thanks to the help of his teacher. It’s only for a short period of time, as it makes him nauseous. He can also reinforce his body, but he has trouble extending far out. He’s also able to enhance his strength x10 more.
inherent abilities:
Enhanced Physical Abilities — The World Formula also helps with this in some way, but he’s got extra strength, speed, and endurance as a vampire.
Memory Reading — The ability to, once he drinks someone’s blood, he’s capable of looking into someone’s memories. It depends on how strong the person is, but he’s able to look through the cracks of certain memories, or even something he might want to look for. Otherwise, without prompted, it’s a series of emotions of a memory hitting him all at once. It will be stretched out and nonsensical.
items / weapons:
Murr’s Carrier — A cute lil cat carrier he has for Murr. It’s pretty fancy, he spoils this cat.
starting ability: oh man he has so few things to give back… none if that’s ok!!
starting item: none for now!
extra:
> for the time being i’m keeping murr out until we get further canon info… for now he’ll miss murr.
> he’s 6’1 why is this man so tall.
> he’s born sept 28th! A libra.
> don’t put him in the kitchen please.
> he also can’t sew.
> and he can’t clean either so sorry to his roommates.
> he sleeps weirdly and always needs to hug something or someone nearby.
> sometimes he calls himself Gilbert, if he isn’t sure if the person he’s around trusts vampires. But for my own sanity, I’m not doing this in the chats nksdfnskfnksjfa.
> He can read emotions well.
discord id: memoire.#4854
passcode: sweet lil vampire guy who likes apple pie i adore you

@crownshattered I personally think it changes!! Like at the beginning of the series, when Tanjiro first returns from the final selection, Nezuko runs out and hugs him with the MOST blank expression....it's weird and robotic, like she doesn't really understand nor comprehend..?? But the further into the series, the more she reacts to everything around her and understands things. And of COURSE her battle with Daki and even Hantengu are definitely her own decisions.?? So idk??
Like when she first comes out of the box and is chased by Zenitsu, her face is pretty blank like she doesn't really understand what's happening, but just a few days (weeks..??) later she is huffing at Sanemi for trying the blood stuff, which is awareness?? so it's a tossup XDD this is why i only write human nez....its confusing otherwise.....
Why I think it’ll be less confusing if N.ezuko is able to speak. But these takes are weird to me. That or I’ve seen MUCH WORSE when watching shounen and KnY isn’t that bad compared to others.
