okay this is so completely unrelated to anything else but I just wanted to pop in to fawn a LITTLE bit over The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game, because I have not met anyone else who read either and I loved those books so much - the enemies to lovers trope is my fave of all time and in RomComs it is 👌I loved Ethan but I LOVED Joshua Templeman (fictional misunderstood men, amIright? (I'm not. I am an idiot ✋😔)). You of course don't have to read anything you don't want, but I do recommend it.

I would also recommend Shipped (Angie Hockman) which I won't lie to you and say is as good as TU and THG, but it came the closest. Beach Reach (Emily Henry) I read last night and I absolutely adored it, though it is not REALLY really Enemies to Lovers.

ANYWAY, unsolicited recs over. I will leave you alone now. (This is so mean of me but I am happy I am not alone in being sad that I do NOT have an Ethan Thomas or Joshua Templeman in my life)

Let's talk about Unhoneymooners. It's honestly taking all my willpower to not reread it. I adored that book so much and I miss them! The only thing I thought was a bummer was lack of smut. However, the banter and the romance was so good, I can look past it. And I loved how she thought he was this traveling asshole. When hes scared of flying and gets sea sick. My boy 😂. But fuuuck his brother Dane. That dude is terrible. You can ask Gigi (@moononastring) I was dming her on discord the entire time reading. I'll do the same with The Hating Game. She's read that too and loved it!

I'm actually saving The Hating Game for after my KoA reread. I need something light hearted between that and Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin. I honestly need more modern romcoms in my life. If Josh Templeman is as much a dork as Ethan is, sign me up.

Yeah, I heard Shipped is a meld of The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game. But Gigi pretty much said the same thing as you. She wasn't super impressed with it. I still might check it out at some point.

I have Beach Read! Which I'll probably do after Gods & Monsters. I'll report back when I read The Hating Game and Beach Read. And it's not mean of you babe! I am always down to talk Ethan Thomas and The Unhoneymooners. If you have any other book modern rom coms I'm all ears!

"Coddiwomple" 2 Feb 2017

The thought of just getting in the car not knowing where we will land up for the night is a little daunting, but after years of planning and organizing I have finally chilled and agreed to go with the flow ✌ Hopefully we will eventually get to Cape Town in time to meet David, Adriana & Marcel in Simonstown, it’s Marcels birthday and we have the privilege of sharing it with him. First Stop will be Rosendal near Ficksburg, a slow meander on the “Riemland” route starting in Sasolburg, driving through Heilbron, Petrus Steyn, Lindley, Arlington, Senekal & then overnight in a self catering cottage in Rosendal. Such a pleasure to see the last of the N1 & N3 taking a regional road to Sasolburg. Trying to find the tourist information office in the Fezile Dabi municipal area was a bit of a challenge, starting in the public library and then two other offices before finding someone with a few pamphlets etc., coffee at the Wimpy, then off to Heilbron. The wild flowers next to the road were stunning, pity I don’t know the names, will really have to brush up on them, I suppose buying a good book is a good start. Maize, sunflowers and some other crop looking good, full dams and green countryside, beautiful rolling hills leading to small dorpies, lunch at the Kolwyntjie in Lindley, a serious cappuccino & chicken salad, baie lekker. Of course, a chat with the “tannie” in die winkel a must, hearing all about the local gossip in the village, hilarious. Rosendal is a very small “dorpie” with two stop streets, a church, shop and a few art related places, Inhabitants = 104, obviously not counting the local township, so who knows how many people?? Really peaceful, apart from the blast of loud music from the township every now and then. Braai & bed In prep for the next day, destination Bethulie. I don’t think we will make Rosendal our “vrek plek” 😁

Wat maak jy met oorskiet malvalekker?

Omdat dit nie so soet is soos gewone botterversiersel nie, maak ek gereeld die malvalekker versiersel, maar ek vind elke keer dat hierdie ekonomiese versiersel selfs baie meer voortbring as wat my kolwyntjies kan dra... so hoekom nie die malvalekker inspan as vinnige nagereg, of mooi soetbordjie nie? Plant dit saam met vetplantjies uit die tuin in sjokoladegrond dan het jy nie net ‘n mooi gereg nie, maar ook heerlike verskillende teksture.

 Geskroeide malvalekker in sjokoladegrond

Bestanddele:

Sjokoladegrond:

70g Sjokolade (donker of melk)

100g strooisuiker

30ml water

Malvalekker:

160g suiker

90ml water

2 eierwitte

2ml kremetart

2ml sout

5ml vanieljegeursel (of ander geursel na keuse)

20ml gelatien

30ml water

 Metode:

Sjokoladegrond:

Verhit die suiker en water in ‘n pot  - hou die deksel op om te help dat kristalle nie aan die kante vorm nie. En moenie laat kook voordat al die suiker nie gesmelt is nie.

Kap die sjokolade in vingernaelgrootte stukke

Wanneer die suiker 130°C bereik (suiker is gesmelt en die kleur verander na ligte karamel), haal van die hitte af

Gooi die sjokolade by die suiker en roer BAIE VINNIG met ‘n draadmenger - maak seker al die sjokolade is bedek met suiker tydens die roer. Meng so vir omtrent 2 minute.

Strooi die grond op die opdienbord

Hierdie mengsel kan in ‘n lugdigte houer vir maande stoor.

Malvalekker:

Strooi die gelatien oor die 30ml water en laat spons.

Oor lae hitte, verhit die res van die bestanddele totdat die suiker gesmelt is - moenie laat die eierwitte stol nie, roer vinnig met draadmenger. (jy kan ook ‘n dubbelkoker gebruik)

Wanneer die suiker volledig gesmelt is verplaas na mengbak van elektriese menger en klits op hoë spoed.

Smelt die gesponsde gelatien in die warm pot - moenie kook nie -  en voeg by die eiermengsel terwyl dit klits

Klits totdat stywe punt vorm en die mengsel blink. Maar hou dop dat jy ophou klits voordat die gelatien stol.

Werk vinnig, skep van die malvalekker in ‘n spuitsak met verlangde punt en spuit ‘hopies’ mavlalekker op die voorbereide sjokoladegrond.

Skroei die malvalekker met jou kombuis steekvlam (blowtorch)..

Versier deur vetplantjies van keuse tussenin te plaas.
