KONBINI KARESHI

SYNOPSIS:

Mishima Haruki only had eyes for Mashiki Miharu, a girl who often drops by the convenience store. He suspected her to be the childhood friend who have given him the book “The Merman Prince” when he was in kindergarten. The book inspired him to swim and join the swimming team in every school he attended. One day, Haruki ended up helping Miharu when she bumped into store items. He then realize that he really likes the girl and wants to see her often. To be able to get a glimpse of Miharu, Haruki drops by the convenience store everyday.

Is Miharu his first love?

Konbini Kareshi Review!

So currently having my summer staycation (cuz u know going out is a no go. I mean even if it was, I’d probably still stay inside  😅) Anyways, since its summer I have been a full time sloth and I’ve been reading from afternoon to evening (I can never bring myself to wake up in the mornings  😭) So today, I have finally finished one of my ‘planning’ anime, because setting time is also not my best suit.

Therefore here are some feedbacks I’d like to  share to y’all...

From the start I actually thought Konbini Kareshi would give me the butterfly-in-the-stomach kind of romantic excitement but I was kind of disappointed. Hmm... the plot wasn’t that generic but it didn’t draw me in too, I guess this is probably because I’ve watched most of the shoujo animes and my reading list is probably 90% shoujo that it didn’t excite me. The animation could also be one of the factor, it’s probably the biggest factor actually. I mostly don’t judge shoujo animes by their animation since I got through 3D Kanojo and the next seasons of Tokyo ghoul so the animation wasn’t much for me but this time it really took out the fun of watching.

They put much effort on the background rather than the main characters, when you pause a scene the character ends up so disheveled that the background seriously outshines them, I do give big respects to animators but they really did a poor job animating it, I’m sorry. If you happen to watch it please do your own critic and don’t put much faith on my words. This is probably from someone who have only been watching animes for almost five years now but I know there are plenty of people who appreciates story plots rather than animations but please do believe that I seriously put animators in high regards. So I’m really sorry if I offended anyone.

Just know this is just based on my opinions only.

When reading the online summary of this anime, it made me not want to watch it. The summary isnt even correct. I only watched ed this shoujo anime because I was bored. It was alright, it just lacked depth, and the characters did nothing to help pique my interest. I think the only reason I made it to the end was because his voice reminded me of Hide from Tokyo Ghoul (Dubb).
