Was very surprised to find that Google Translate now supports Konkani.

I can't say how accurate it is - I'll have to ask my sister's mother-in-law for that.

Anyway, I had a fun afternoon looking up words to find which ones are identical to Marathi and which ones are different!

Ambya Sasam (Mango Curry)

If you are visiting the Konkan area you have to try this recipe. A seasonal curry with mangoes prepared in konkani households served in traditional konkani weddings or events.

Ambya means mango and sasam means mustard seeds is a mildly spiced coconut based curry tempered with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Raw mangoes makes this dish more delicious. Mango is consumed most in India which is packed with vitamins, calcium, minerals and antioxidants.

Guysssssss!! I didn't know Sanskrit was available on Google translate omg... Since when?! 😭🤍

I would have preferred बांग्लाभाषा (bāṅglābhāṣā) or वङ्गभाषा (vaṅgabhāṣā) instead of बङ्गालभाषा (baṅgālbhāṣā), given the cultural connotations associated with the later word in Bengal, but whatever.

I mean, it still needs a lotta work but this is good enough! Also, I'm pretty sure it's mostly contributed to by Hindi speakers lmao:

I also realised that they have made Assamese, Goan Konkani, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Mizo and Maithili available as well on Google translate (on web):
