💬Korean speech levels💬
In Korean, there is a hierarchical system known as "존대" (which refers to the act of showing respect or deference towards someone) or "speech levels" that reflects the social status and relationship between the speaker and the listener. This hierarchy is an important aspect of Korean language and culture. But if you’re not used to it, it’s quite the challenge to learn... so let’s have a look!
Formal speech levels:
존댓말 refers to the formal speech style used to show respect and politeness. Within 존댓말, there are different speech levels that vary in formality and are used in different social contexts. The three main speech levels within 존댓말 are as follows:
하십시오체: This is the highest and most formal speech level used in formal settings, official documents, or when speaking to individuals of higher social status. It employs honorific language and polite expressions. Example: 드십시오  - Please eat (honorific form).
합쇼체: This speech level is still formal but slightly less polite than 하십시오체. It is used in formal situations and when addressing elders or individuals of higher social status. Example: 드세요 - Please eat (polite form).
해요체 : This is the polite speech level used in everyday conversations. It is appropriate for speaking to strangers, peers, or individuals of similar or lower status. Example: 먹어요 - Eat (polite form).
Informal speech levels:
In Korean, 반말 refers to the informal speech style used among friends, family members, or individuals of the same age or lower social status. Within 반말, there are different speech levels that vary in casualness and familiarity.
해체: This speech level is informal and used among friends, family, or individuals of the same age or lower status. It is considered casual and relaxed. Example: 먹어 - Eat (casual form).
하게체: This speech level is considered extremely informal and somewhat rude. It is typically used for intimate or disrespectful speech. It is important to exercise caution when using this level as it can be impolite or offensive in most situations.
Other speech levels:
하오체: This is an archaic speech level that was used in classical Korean literature. It is no longer commonly used in contemporary spoken language.
It's important to note that while the hierarchy levels play a significant role in Korean communication, there is also some flexibility in their usage depending on the context and relationship between speakers. It's generally recommended to use a higher speech level to show respect, especially when speaking to elders, authority figures, or in formal settings.

Jungryeok has fully accepted the role of 엄마 (mom, pronounced as oh-ma) because chunsik’s 아빠 (dad, pronounced as ah-pa) acau has left him! I guess it’s a divorce????
language note! Korean has levels of speech based on formality. jungryeok is using the informal, casual versions of both words with chunsik to refer to himself and acau, which you only use to refer to your own mother/father. he’s gotten really comfortable already
if you were talking about someone else’s mom or dad, to be polite you say the formal versions 어머님 (oh-mo-nim) and 아버님 (ah-bo-nim).
님 (nim) is an honorific suffix added to names or titles to show respect :D

Love for Love's Sake | Things You Didn't Notice #3 | Learning Korean with the boys
I have (barely) emotionally recovered after the ending of this series, and so I'm back with my usual translation notices and cultural specialties posts ^^ Long post ahead!
// Read previous posts with translations & comments I pointed out //
This time I'll look at the Episode 3 [Yeowoon's Affection level from 0 to -99]. Disclaimer: I'm not fluent in Korean but I've been learning it for years and I've lived and studied in Korea for a while. However, in particular Sangwon and Sia annoyed me so much this episode because their banter is so funny but I cannot decipher their wordplay 100% by ear without KR subs so I have to skip over their dialogues %)
Anyway, there's still some fun language stuff to point out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- "You're late, Senior (hyung)" - "Senior? (Sunbae?)"
Fun fact: Sangwon, who's the same year as Yeowoon, addresses Myungha as "hyung". Meanwhile Yeowoon addresses Myungha only as "sunbae". Hyung is a term guys call their older male friends (if you're familiar with Thai BLs as well, it's same as "Pi"), meanwhile gender-neutral sunbae means senior, someone who's been longer than you in the industry or some institution (like school).
If I remember correctly, Yeowoon keeps calling Myungha 'sunbae/senior' until the very end of the show. Even when they are sleeping over in the same house after school hours, Yeowoon doesn't call Myungha hyung but sunbae only. In Korea, you use titles or formal full names to people older than you or acquaintances, and you usually use names with the people younger than you. That's why, if you think about it, there wasn't a moment in show when Yeowoon says Myungha's name :D Only sunbae. And that's normal. (this is also why Myungha never mentions Writer sunbae's name at all)
Also, we'll return to Myungha's usage of Yeowoon's name a bit later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Keep doing it if you want to die young, Sangwon-ah." "*gasp* You call me by my name when you're mad?"
But Sangwon is talking to Myungha in a very familiar way, using 'hyung' instead of 'senior' every time, making it feel like they are friends (and most of their interaction this episode revolves around Sangwon trying to make Myungha talk to him like a close friend as well xD).
Why is Sangwon so thrilled every time Myungha calls him by his name? Because there are many other Korean words you can use for people, especially if you're angry with them (ranging from the impolite 'this guy' to swearwords). But every time Myungha gives a casual warning to Sangwon who's annoying him, he still says "Sangwon-ah", which is how you'd call your younger friend who's just being a brat. No wonder Sangwon keeps pushing Myungha to get his attention and affection^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the topic of names and intonation: I noticed Myungha uses aegyo (acting cute) often when he talks to his grandma. However, with other school students, like I mentioned in my previous language posts, most of the time his speech feels like a patronizing talk of a 29-y.o. adult.
But! I found that one scene when Myungha is deliberately using aegyo with Yeowoon! The reason for it is that Yeowoon finally responded and wanted to meet up after avoiding him for so long, and Myungha is extremely excited.
"Yeowoon-ie, you're waiting for hyung?~" "Don't use that voice".
Two things: Myungha calls himself Yeowoon's "hyung" which feels closer than "sunbae", he wanted to take the next step and make their communication less formal. And instead of saying friendly "Yeowoon-ah" like he always does, he changed the pronunciation of his name to "Yeowoon-ie" — which is, together with the playful intonation in his voice, is so. fucking. cute. However, Yeowoon instantly rejected his aegyo and Myungha returned to the way he always spoke x) RIP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I already pointed it out briefly in another post but – Myungha cooked a curry rice for dinner with Yeowoon. It might not seem like anything, but I thought it was an amazing detail to show later in the series that even when Yeowoon almost forgotten about Myungha who disappeared, he kept bulk buying rice with curry (yellow packages) for his dinner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You act like you're my parent (guardian)." "Well, you're not wrong."
I thought that Myungha telling Yeowoon he's not wrong about him being his "parent" was a bit weird, and indeed, the word they are using here is 보호자 (bohoja), which is "guardian". It can be said about parents but also about anyone who's protecting something or someone as well. Which is exactly what Myungha is striving to do in this world and in this game. To protect and take care of Yeowoon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"My mom split (ran away) but my dad said she died." "I wish I could split (run away)... I kept running around the field because I felt frustrated. But how could I run away?"
Here I'll need some help from native English speakers, which I'm not, can 'split' be used in this dialogue with the same connotation? Because in Korean, Myungha clearly says "My mom ran away", to which Yeowoon responds "I wish I could run away" and immediately remembering about the reason why he became a runner. And I just loved the accent the show made on this word, which got lost in Gaga subs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Don't slack off because you think no one sees." "Maintain your image (Do some mental training)"
This one is surely a mistranslation. The coach says "Do Image Training", in Korea and in some other Asian countries, as far as I encountered this term, this basically means "mental training", or "meditation" and has nothing to do with maintaining one's reputation.
Think "breathe in, breathe out and think how well you'll do and imagine yourself running that race before it starts".
Tumblr media
Yeah, probably no one cared about that dialogue or scene anyway, but I hope you're still enjoying my hyperfixation on this show xD Anyway, it's been a long post and I'm done for Episode 3 — but as a bonus, let me share bonus with one of the Sangwoon x Sia scenes.
+
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried hard to figure out the word that Sia uses when Myungha pleads her to get rid of Sangwoon, and the closest I could get was 분력 (the power of Buddha), but one thing for sure — following Myungha's begging, Sia cross-sprayed Sangwoon with perfume like holy water and ordered him like "Begone, demon!". Lmao :D

Interesting Linguistic Notes from Jun & Jun episode 4
In her phone conversation with Choi Jun, Young does not exactly call herself his "fiancé."
Tumblr media
She uses the word 구녀로서, which roughly translates to "as your woman." 구녀 when used alone means "she/old woman," but when paired with 로서 (which means to do something as a person who holds a specific status) it transforms into the idea more along the lines of being that person's singular girl. So you'll sometimes see it translated to "as your old woman" because it's more akin to the slang way we refer to our moms and wives than it is to the way we might say "I'm your woman" to refer to ourselves as your romantic partner. It's less about the state of romantic ownership and more about the old and familiar. I don't know why the translation team chose to translate it as fiancé, unless it's possible they have access to later scripts and know something we don't. But even then, we can probably anticipate that she's not an official fiancé, but rather someone their parents expect him to marry.
Tumblr media
My current bet is just on her being overly familiar with Choi Jun, as we saw from her speech patterns in the car ride with both Juns earlier that morning. When she realizes that she already calls Choi Jun "Jun-i Oppa" (an intimate and affectionate way to refer to an older male/brother, as spoken by a female) and she has to call Lee Jun something different, any normal Korean who wanted to breech that level of familiarity would suggest "Lee Jun Oppa" as a way to differentiate the two. But she's been raised in the US too and leaps into suggesting "Jun-i Eonni" (an intimate and familiar way to refer to an older woman/sister, as spoken by a female). Lee Jun comedically bristles at that, saying he'd rather she kept calling him "Pigeon" instead. But she doesn't care and brushes right past societal norms and even still refers to him as Eonni later in her phone conversation with Choi Jun. Choosing this is intentionally queer-coded language as well (because her Korean is otherwise so good, and she doesn't seem to be joking). It's like calling a gay man "girl," or "sister," or "queen."
Tumblr media
Speaking of the ways others address Lee Jun, it's important to note that in the final scene Simeon repeatedly calls him 우리 이준씨, which basically translates "my Lee Jun." He's not speaking intimately, but he is claiming ownership. This is why we see Hyun Jae's bewildered and sad expression and Choi Jun's stunned and jealous expressions.
Finally, I'll share a tidbit that caused some confusion when @bengiyo watched the episode and take my comment out of the notes on Ben's post and put it here. In his breakroom conversation with Lee Jun, I think it VERY LIKELY Hyun Jae was vaguing about M/M relationships. Because Korean culture is still VERY homophobic, he was trying to feel out how accepting Lee Jun is towards diversity and possibly even invite him into a queer space. He begins by saying, "you know, people have different values depending on the environments they've lived in," and ends with "diversity is valued these days." But instead he "dug his own grave" because Lee Jun's brain immediately went to the morning's events and the confusion he feels from it all (particularly being invited to do a sexual favor for a man who then later received a kiss on the cheek from an overly familiar woman) and he basically said NO, SOME THINGS ARE TOO DIVERSE.
I expect we'll see Lee Jun try to draw more boundaries with Choi Jun, not because he's a man (he flirted back after all) and not because he's his boss (although that may play a role), but mostly because his current impression is that Choi Jun isn't serious. He thinks he flirts like this all the time because he's too American.
@absolutebl I'm tagging you again because you're a linguistic geek too!

tenderness | bonus scene: banmal
Tumblr media
pairing: bang chan x female reader
summary: the first time you call chan 'oppa.'
this is a bonus scene taking place in the tenderness universe, but you don't have to have read tenderness to read this fic! just know that the main character is currently a manager for stray kids. she's also chan's soulmate, which explains why she lives in the dorms with him.
chapter word count: 1.6k
warnings: none!
a/n: a bit of fluff was requested by one of the readers on ao3. the term 'banmal' is used to describe informal speech in korean and is usually for casual conversation between friends, relatives, or people younger than you. i can't properly demonstrate the way that the main character's speech level changes since speech levels don't exist the same way in english. i only modified the honorifics that y/n uses to address the members. this was my first time writing fluff, it was surprisingly fun!

“Noona?” You and Jisung are lounging in the living room after a schedule that miraculously ended early. You're not sure where the other guys are and you don't really care, it's nice to have one on one time with Jisung.
“Hm?” You drag your eyes away from the drama that the two of you have been half heartedly been watching to find him deep in thought.
“You called me Jisung-ssi earlier. You always do that. Why?”
“Ah,” you say, flustered. “It just still feels weird to talk to you guys informally. I don’t want anybody to get the wrong idea.”
“But you don’t call Felix, Felix-ssi! I’ve even heard you call him Lixie before! Why is he special?” Jisung whines.
“It’s different!” you defend yourself. “We talk in English mostly. There’s not really any honorifics or levels of speech. It’d be weirder if I did speak formally to him.”
“Sounds like an excuse, but okay. What do you call Channie-hyung?” he asks with a particular gleam in his eyes.
“Chan-ssi,” you say matter-of-factly. You have to bite back a laugh at the disappointed noise he makes at your response.
“Minho-hyung?”
“Minho-ssi.”
“Changbinnie-hyung?”
“Changbin-ssi,” you reply dutifully.
“You guys are the same age! It doesn’t make sense!” he groans.
“I don’t know what you’re expecting,” you say, amused. “I talk to all of you the same.”
“Are you kidding me? You’re hopeless.” He shakes his head dramatically. “You’re soulmates with Channie-hyung! That means you’re basically family to all of us. Listen, at work? Sure, fine, you can be all polite and formal, I get it. But in the dorms?”
“Jisu-”
“Here, the guys are coming over for dinner tonight. Please please please, can you call Minho-hyung oppa to his face?”
“What? No!” you say immediately.
“Pleaseee,” he draws out the word playfully. He shuffles closer and takes your hands in his, pouting exaggeratedly. “Just once! I just want to see his reaction! I know that all of us have told you at one point to speak to us comfortably. He wouldn’t get mad at you, I promise!”
“I’m not going to do it,” you laugh, trying to disentangle your hands.
“You can tell him that I forced you to! I’ll volunteer to clean the dishes after dinner! I’ll be better about cleaning the bathroom! I’ll buy you bubble tea for a week! I’ll buy you new shoes! I’ll stop changing my mind a million times when we’re trying to decide what to order during schedules! I'll write you a song! Please please please, Y/n-noona!”
“I-” you falter. Jisung immediately brightens, his mouth curves into a heart-shaped smile. “Fine. Only because you look so cute.”
Jisung cheers, jumping up and punching the air with his fists.
“You’re the best!!”
“I’m going to blame you for it,” you warn.
“Of course. Even if hyung kills me, it’ll be worth it in the moment.” He beams.
At dinner, Jisung sits to your left and every few minutes, he nudges your leg in an attempt to prompt you into speaking. You ignore it, continuing to eat as if nothing is happening. Yes, you agreed to follow along with Jisung’s silly idea, but you still want it to happen naturally, otherwise it would be even more out of place. As much as this is kind of a joke, it is starting to feel a bit strange always using polite speech and you're curious to see how everyone will react.
Opportunity strikes when you stretch to grab one of the side dishes that happen to be in front of Minho. You can't quite reach it sitting, but before you can stand, Minho picks up one of the serving utensils and picks out the best piece, placing it into your bowl. He serves himself next, but you know it's just to play off his kind gesture. You're genuinely grateful for his thoughtfulness.
“Thank you, Minho-oppa,” you say, making sure to keep your voice casual.
Everyone freezes. Minho is good at maintaining his nonchalant expression, but his ears betray him by slowly turning red. Your cheeks are flushed to match and even without looking, you can tell the rest of the boys are stunned. It takes a great effort on your part to not turn to glance at Chan, although you can practically feel his gaze burning into the side of your face.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Jeongin elbow Hyunjin in the stomach and mouth "Oppa?" in disbelief.
Finally, Minho recovers enough to clear his throat loudly and say, "it's nothing, I was going to get some anyway."
Jisung, on the other hand, is grinning like an idiot.
“Hyung! You should have seen your reaction, I wish I had taken a picture!” He cries out, laughing loudly.
“What reaction?” Minho tries to play it off.
“Hyung, your ears.” Hyunjin tugs on one teasingly, then instantly apologises and cowers when Minho turns to glare at him.
"Call me oppa too, Y/n!" Changbin says excitedly, standing up to serve you from the dish closest to him.
"We're the same age, Changbin-ah, I'm not going to call you oppa," you tease. He just laughs, delighted to be on the receiving end of your more casual speech.
“If Y/n calls Minho-hyung oppa, does that mean she needs to call Chan-hyung ajhussi?” Seungmin pipes up. Across the table, Hyunjin dissolves into laughter at the thought.
Chan doesn’t mention it all evening, even though the boys continue to tease Minho, calling him ‘oppa’ instead of ‘hyung’ when they address him and taking every opportunity to call Chan ‘ajhussi’. They’ve both given out countless headlocks in revenge, but it’s all in good humour. Eventually, Minho, Felix, Seungmin, and Jeongin head home, and the rest of the boys drift off into their own rooms.
After washing up, you join Chan in his room, not wanting to hog the bathroom for any longer than required. He’s already set to sleep and had been sitting in bed scrolling on his phone until you had walked in. Through the reflection of the little mirror that you’re using to do your skincare routine, you can see that he’s watching you.
“You know,” he says steadily. “You can- you can call me that too, if you want.” You pause at the carefully worded request. You make eye contact with him through the mirror and watch as the tips of his ears and the tops of his cheeks slowly pinkens.
“Call you what?” you ask, deliberately playing oblivious.
“You know,” he flounders.
“Do I?" you wonder, tapping a finger to your lips teasingly.
“I mean, you don’t have to if you don’t feel comfortable, I just thought that if you were going to talk to the boys more casually then you can do the same. You’re my soulmate, things don’t have to be so formal all the time.  I don’t want to force you to do anything, but I wouldn’t mind, at all! I know Jisung probably was the one to get you to say that to Minho and it was really funny to see his reaction. Uhm. I mean, you can really call me anything that you want! Chan-ssi. Chan-oppa. Chan-ah, actually no that’s kind of weird maybe not that one. Uh if it makes it less weird you can use my English name too! Chris, Christopher, whatever,” he trails off, then buries his face in his hands with a groan. “Sorry, I don’t know what I’m saying.”
You're finished your skincare routine so you put away all the containers and turn in your seat so that you're fully facing him. You take a second to collect yourself, then pitch your voice so it's small and cutesy, a far cry from how you normally talk.
"Oppa," you test. His eyes immediately shoot up to meet yours, cheeks darkening more than they had before. "Do you want me to call you Channie-oppa?" You tilt your head to one side and widen your eyes.
"Argh.” This time, he turns to smash his face in his pillow to hide himself, pulling the blanket over his head for good measure.
"Channie-oppa, why are you hiding? I thought this is what you wanted." You lightly tug at the blanket, but he holds it tight, shaking his head vigorously. You've never been the type to perform aegyo, but it's surprisingly fun and you can't deny that you're enjoying Chan's reaction. After another minute, he pokes his head out looking a bit sheepish.
“You are really cute when you say that,” he admits. “And I really like to hear that you feel comfortable using banmal with us.”
“I am comfortable with everyone, I have been for a while,” you say. “And you’re also really cute when I call you oppa.”
His eyes crinkle as he smiles and you take the opportunity to lean forward and poke one of the dimples that appear. In retaliation, he grips the corners of the blanket and collects you in his arms, effectively swallowing you in the mess of fabric. He pulls you so that you lose balance and fall onto the bed, cradled in his arms. You feel so safe in his embrace and the both of you momentarily fall silent.
“Okay, I think we should sleep now,” Chan says eventually. “Good night, Y/n.”
“Good night… Channie-Oppa,” you respond.
Even though you can’t see Chan in the dark, you know that he’s smiling. It’s enough that you drift off to sleep with a smile as well.

BANGTEEZ Maknaes: A Decade Long Friendship
Upcoming military service has Jungkook reflecting on one of his longest friendships outside of his group.
Tumblr media
December 6, 2023 (1:07PM)
On a solo live preceding the enlistment farewells, BTS' Jungkook finally shed some light on the 10 year friendship shared with ATEEZ's Himari. Since the surprising reveal of their relationship netizens have been wondering how the two came to this point and if they were truly close with one another.
As shared by Jungkook they met through Yoongi, who happens to be the young woman's older brother, as he wished to introduce his friends to his siblings before making his debut. Due to being the closest in age the two quickly got along, texting every now and then until she joined the industry about a year later, after which their communication became more frequent.
'I actually had a crush on her a little bit after we met...but Yoongi hyung found out about it and scolded me.' He revealed whilst talking about some of the many fun anecdotes he shares with her.
The soloist even shared adorable photos of them which spread through the internet like wildfire:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to him - as well as the writing credits - she has taken part in the production of a few songs in his recently released album 'Golden' which he claims to have been 'more like relaxing with a friend than working'. When he invited her to the filming set of 3D he was apparently jokingly scolded for being shirtless and videos of the two messing around during breaks were released during promotions.
Certain Korean fans found it odd that after a decade of being friends they still use a formal speech form but he admitted that they only spoke this way in front of cameras, as they thought people might believe their relationship to be romantic should they show their level of comfort through their usual informal speech.
To close off the conversation regarding their friendship he showed a box given to him by Himari, which contained a variety of handmade pastries along with a note saying 'See you soon Kookie-Ah ♡'. As his enlistment is set to take place in winter she had gifted him the hat he wore throughout both lives with the comment 'to keep what's left of your hair warm'.
Due to her rather busy schedule this was unfortunately the last day they were able to see each other and BTS member Jimin said in their group live that both ended up crying while saying goodbye. Although this is only a temporary separation the two are well known for being quite sensitive so it came as no surprise.
Overall even though this is a friendship that had been kept rather private by the artists, fans were more than glad to hear about their bond - and are eagerly awaiting more anecdotes that the soloist promised after his service.

I’m not sure if you’ve answered this before, but how do you do you pages? Do you use one program or several? I wanna use the format but I’m baffled XD
It’s so good! Also Pinemorant FTW!!🏳️‍🌈
I've briefly discussed my process in making issues, but I can go through the whole thing for anyone who is interested in making a comic like this. It's not complicated at all - I only use one program (technically two, if you count Google Docs), Medibang Paint Pro. It's free to download and I've used it for years, it's a medium-level digital art program.
I'll take a page from the last issue, 26, to demonstrate. So if you haven't read it yet, do that before reading this.
My first step, which is already completed for every issue, is to write a basic summary of the things I want to happen. If I have a specific dialogue I want to use I'll include, but normally it's just descriptions.
Tumblr media
I don't always use everything from my summary, or I'll add things in the final written draft. You may notice a line about "he knew of some cat in Fire", which was about Cormorantpaw knowing of Rainhaze but not actually who he was. I took it out because I couldn't seamlessly work it into the conversation.
2. The stories themselves are written in Google Docs, in the format of any short fiction. My process is pretty short - I'll write out a rough draft, leave it alone for a day, then come back and clean it up. Here's the section from the page I'm showing.
Tumblr media
If I use speech bubbles on a page, like this one, sometimes there will be descriptive language in the story that's not in the page, like "I said, relenting and leaping up next to him."
3. My first compositing step is to lay down the text and sketches, so I know where everything goes and ensures the page flows nicely. Medibang has a feature called the "Text Tool", which is what I use to lay down text. I can't say my fonts exactly since they're mostly Korean characters, but they're part of the default Medibang font set.
Tumblr media
4. After this, I add lines and colors. It's pretty simple.
Tumblr media
I have a specific color scheme for borderlines; black is normal, present drawings, reddish-pink is flashback, blue is fantasy/imagination.
5. After color, I draw the backgrounds. All of my backgrounds are painted using the Pen brush and the Watercolor (Wet) brush, sometimes with Acrylic or Chalk for texture.
Tumblr media
6. My final step is to add a gradient multiply and overlay layer, since I don't cell shade or paint shade the characters. It saves a lot of time! I also add final cleanup like sound effects, whiskers, and speech bubbles, if they're needed.
Tumblr media
And that's a page done!

i'm boycotting hybe merch and i think you should too
listen: i'm not going to hold anyone's feet to the fire and say "boycott or else" and i am not going to unfollow or unfriend people, but i have been thinking a lot about this, and then i saw a post on twitter basically outlining everything that i have been mulling over & then some, and it has just been on my mind all day (and tbh for a few days) and i thought that maybe if i put these thoughts out into the world, it might get people thinking.
i also realize that these thoughts would have been better if realized before black friday and current merch drops, but it is what it is. i didn't even know they were doing another merch drop because i do not pay attention.
THE AFOREMENTIONED THOUGHTS; APOLOGIES FOR BEING SCATTERED:
we are witnessing the starbucks boycott working, and although it is yet to be stated whether that is making anyone on the upper level rethink their bullshit, they have been losing billions !!! of dollars.
i think people will be like "but i don't want to hurt BTS as people," and i hear that, but i also do not genuinely think a boycott would. they are literally fucking millionaires, and it is so hard to not get on my "i don't respect millionaires or believe they have the right to exist" soapbox when i do love them so much, but i also don't think they need our money, especially right now. especially because some (if not most) money can't go to them while they are in the military anyway (although i did see something about how the artist collection proceeds still might since it was initially sold before??? idk. still they are fucking millionaires.)
i think that what would be impactful would be for people to stop buying the merch for a while to send a message to hybe that we are not in support of zionists working with BTS. a romantic, faraway dream is for them to drop scooter braun's dumbass all together, but i do not genuinely think hybe or bang pd gives a shit about much beyond money, which is unfortunate. on this note tho, we could organize an email campaign??? i am more than down??? but it would depend on a lot of you participating. (if you're down tho i will type it up right away.)
do i think we need to boycott golden as a whole? no. i mean........i'm not buying the album because i have personally been more or less boycotting merch since the whole angel pt. 1 debacle, but i think that streams are fine bc they hardly bring in money anyway. but i am boycotting the justin timberlake and usher remixes because.......well, sorry but the favs are problematic.
[going to center myself and my feelings quick and i apologize...] i just cannot get through a day without sobbing uncontrollably about what is happening in gaza. and i cannot, in good faith, support zionists or people who work with them. this falls in line with BTS preaching for us to "love yourself, speak yourself." everything they have stated in UN speeches and in many of their lyrics makes me feel like the only thing i can do as a fan is stand up for injustices when i see them, and hybe working with zionists is a huge injustice. and if you disagree.......idk. i cannot sympathize with or understand you; this post is not for you.
i think it is a huge injustice to what BTS instills in people and makes them believe if we sit back while hybe does whatever the fuck they want without caring about the consequences.
(disney is also on the list, by the way, of companies that support israel. if you need illegal links to disney+ bts content, we can figure something out.)
also, i will say that while silence is violence and choosing neutrality is choosing the side of the oppressor, i wonder if the reason none of the guys are speaking out about the conflict has to do with their enlistment (aka something pertaining to matters i do not understand within the korean government) or within the company itself because they work with scooter et al (aka bang telling them to stay quiet.) whatever the reason is, i guess i am choosing the side of wishful thinking right now. i have absolutely no proof for any of these thoughts, but i do see some people angry at BTS for not speaking up, and while i agree that everyone should use their platforms, i am wondering aloud whether there might be a reason for it. this is not me making excuses for anyone, though........i just don't know. i have no idea.
SOME FINAL FINAL THOUGHTS:
at the end of the day, we can only do what we can. if you can only boycott so much, you can only boycott so much. it takes time and effort to radicalize to the point of cutting out so many unnecessary things what we deem as "necessary." but it is possible. your money does make a difference, and wouldn't you want that difference to be good? and if you do have a moment of weakness, it is important to continue to stay the path and do not let guilt make you feel one way or another. we all make mistakes but the important thing is that we try.
ALSO if you want cute merch, support independent artists!!!!!!!!! the BTS army is full of amazing creatives and your money can help them for a little while instead!!!
i might be missing a lot, like i said, my brain is super scattered. but if this resonates or speaks to you or there is more i should consider, please reach out.

Hi there, i have recently started learning korean and i am struggling with learning present tense because i am so confused about its endings, like i know that there are
ㅂ니다/습니다
아요/어요/여요(해요)
아/어/해
but recently in a lot of pages i saw them writing present sentebces like
to feel-느끼다
they didn't write
느낍니다
느껴요
느겨
but they wrote
느낀다
and also i have seen 먹는다
as far as i understood the edndg is ㄴ/은/는 but what grammar is this as present tense ending because google translate translates a lot of sentences lik this.
Hello! Thanks for your patience. First, I'd like to share my full-length lessons about each of these grammar points that I think can help you:
-ㅂ/습니다 & -아/어/여요
아/어/여
-는/ㄴ다
In short, all four forms you mentioned are different kinds of present-tense conjugations. Here are some brief explanations of each (you can check out the lessons for sample sentences!):
-ㅂ/습니다
I believe the technical term for this form is "formally polite." This form is not used super often--in everyday conversation, it's usually used in set phrases like 감사합니다 or 제 이름은 [your name]입니다. Otherwise, you'll hear it on TV broadcasts and in other very formal situations according to Wikipedia.
-아/어/여요
Wikipedia calls this "casually polite." This, based on my studies and experience in Korea, is the form you'll use most often in spoken conversation. It's not super formal, but it's polite, so you can use it when speaking to employees in a store or other strangers, as well as those you're more familiar with but who are older than you.
A note about conjugation, this form includes the -해요 form! Check out my lesson for more about how to actually conjugate the verbs.
-아/어/여
This is "casually impolite." You might know it in Korean as 반말, meaning "casual speech." This is the form you use when talking with close friends, those your age, and those younger than you. You'll likely need permission from the person you're talking with before using this form.
-는/ㄴ다
This is called the narrative form. You do hear it occasionally in spoken Korean, but its main purpose is for written Korean. This is the form you see in books and other written contexts. It doesn't have a formality level as a result.
However, you might hear this when people talk to one another. Sometimes it's used when people are talking to themselves or just making a statement not directedat anybody in particular and not exactly expecting a response. Check out my full lesson to see examples!
I hope this all makes sense! Thanks so much for the question! 화이팅!

존댓말
존댓말 (Jondae-mal) refers to the formal speech style used in Korean. It is characterized by a polite and respectful tone and is typically used when speaking to individuals of higher social status, strangers, elders, or in formal settings. 존댓말 is the opposite of 반말 (Banmal), which is the informal speech style used among friends or individuals of the same age or lower social status.
Here are some key features of 존댓말 (Jondae-mal):
1. Politeness: 존댓말 maintains a polite and respectful tone in conversations. It is used to show deference and respect to the listener or the person being addressed.
2. Verb endings: In 존댓말, verb endings are typically formal and polite. The verb stems are followed by endings such as -습니다 (-seumnida) for declarative sentences or -세요 (-seyo) for imperative sentences. For example, "먹습니다" (meokseumnida) for "I eat/I am eating" or "먹어주세요" (meogeojuseyo) for "Please eat."
3. Honorific expressions: 존댓말 employs honorific expressions and vocabulary to show respect. This includes using appropriate honorific titles, such as 선생님 (seonsaengnim) for teacher or 회장님 (hoejangnim) for chairman, and other polite phrases and honorific terms.
4. Formal vocabulary: In 존댓말, formal vocabulary is used to convey a sense of respect and politeness. It includes using formal terms for greetings, titles, and expressions of politeness.
5. Suitable for formal settings: 존댓말 is commonly used in formal situations, official documents, business settings, and when addressing individuals of higher social status or authority figures.
Using 존댓말 is considered appropriate and respectful in formal or unfamiliar situations, as it demonstrates proper etiquette and shows consideration for others. It is important to be mindful of the appropriate speech level to use based on the social context and the relationship with the person being addressed.

“There are different kinds of soulmates. 12 to be exact." Ms. Whitehurst says while sat with MBG. "When we think of that term, we think so one dimensional. But no matter lover or friend or partner... We are all connected on a spiritual level. And therefore... We can all have a soul mate from the past that will find us one day, again."
Third type of soul mate: Soul Teacher
“Soul Teachers: Sometimes a soul mate might show up to teach you by challenging you to do something different from what they recommend, teaching you the value of thinking for yourself.”

((PRESENT DAY))
“Eh…” Namjoon scrunches a nose as he lays back on your newly set up bed. You pause your folding of freshly clean clothes to stare at your boyfriend in shock.
“Baby. How many philosophical books have you read? And you’re telling me you’re iffy on reincarnation?!” You laugh in disbelief as he shrugs while sprawled out, just enjoying this Sunday morning.
“I mean… I have, but… I don’t know. It’s tricky. What does that entail exactly? We’re all stuck in an inescapable loop of death and birth?” He asks. “If it’s a yes then my follow up question is; why?” He wonders and you hum as you go back to folding while trying to think.
“Maybe… it’s like what Buddhist believe. You come back until you get it right.” You shrug. Your boyfriend sits up at that comment and rolls his shoulders a bit, and you almost break out into a smile, knowing that move all too well.
It was debate time.
“Yeah, but life isn’t a punishment. Shouldn’t be anyways.” He says.
“Then maybe reincarnation is the reward.” You say back.
“A reward? Without any prior knowledge of what life actually entails? With no memory of what it means to grow up or become successful or feel happiness or find love?” He asks. "To go through all the growing pains and awkwardness again and again?" He raises an eyebrow.
You hum at that as you take a minute to think. You loved debating with Namjoon because it was always a back and forth. Like a ping-pong tournament that usually ended with one cocky winner and a slightly sore loser.
“Then… maybe it’s a bit of both.” You say finally. “It’s a reward cause you get to go through life again, while also being a punishment cause you… well, go through life again…” You snort, and he hums softly as he watches you.
“That’s a cop out. Point me.” Namjoon states and you pause.
“What?! No! You can’t be serious!” You complain instantly as he laughs softly.
“Nope. I get the point. There is no real argument you've shown." He states and your roll your eyes playfully at that before huffing lightly.
"God. You're a headache. If reincarnation is a real thing, I can only hope you're not as competitive in that life as you are in this one." You tease as you lean over to cup his cheek and lightly brush your lips against his as he bashfully eyes you.
"I hope in every lifetime... It's you I debate with." He states quietly against your lips, and it makes you smirk as you slide the pad of your thumb along his bottom lip.
*****************************************
1919: A large number of Korean nationalists come to America to study, and begun the Korean Independence Movement.
"Hey. What are you doing here?" The voice rings out through the girls' dormitory building, causing Namjoon to look over with a startled expression, his throat tightening just a bit.
“Hey. My friend asked you a question. What? You don’t speak English?” The other campus guard says as they walk closer.
Namjoon shifts on his own two feet, never one for confrontation. His parents had made it clear. He was here to study and keep his head down. That was all. But it was hard. And meeting Y/N has only made things harder.
“I… Got lost.” He finally says, deciding on that lie since he knew. He knew he shouldn’t be here. He knew he shouldn’t be sneaking around, and he knew with every inch of his brain that he should’ve never fallen for an American. Yet here he was, always listening to his heart.
“Yeah? What, you couldn’t see right?” The one guard says, pushing him. Namjoon stumbles only a bit, shoulders squaring as he braces himself.
“Probably a perv. Trying to peek at the girls here. Those aren’t yours, you fucking weirdo.” The other man laughs as Namjoon tries to move past them.
“Whoa! Did we tell you that you could leave, ch**k?” The student guard says, pushing Namjoon again. The nerdy young man trips but catches himself yet again, swallowing back the bile coming up his throat. He was here for a reason. First of his family to finish school and definitely the first ever to come to America for college, and he wasn’t going to let anything get him out of character.
The urge to fight back always hit him though. But where would that lead? Him looked at as the problem. Possibly even kicked out and sent back home. No. He had a right to be here. With that in mind, he does the only thing to do for him. Run.
“Hey! Get back here!” The other shouts as both chase him down out of the building…
**********************************
You go barreling down the ER hallway, running straight to the hospital room a nurse had been kind enough to appoint you to. After realizing Namjoon was late to your study date, you went running out looking for him, only to find him in a campus alleyway, beaten and bruised badly.
Everything was in slow motion at that moment and all you could do was rush to call 911 for help. You couldn’t hold him as you waited for help because a crowd had formed and you didn't want rumors to spread, but you also couldn't stand there and do nothing. You kept people at arm's length of his unconscious body until the amubulance arrived.
The paramedic made a comment about how you must be a 'smart broad' to be here in college, and you bit your tongue to keep your comments to yourself. He told you to run along and go 'read a book', but instead, you went running for the city bus to go visit Namjoon in the hospital.
You couldn't think of anything else other than making sure he was ok.
When you get to the room, you cover your mouth, seeing Namjoon laying in the bed like that. He had a busted lip and a bruised cheek and stitches on his forehead. Under the hospital lights, his injuries looked more dramatic, and maybe it was because they really were. It had never been this bad before now…
“Y/N?” He asks softly as he reaches a hand out to touch yours. You shakily grab his hand with both of yours, careful at this moment. You felt like you had to hold him tight to keep him from disappearing, but also hold him loose enough to not actually hurt him.
“Joonie. Who… Who did this?!” You finally ask, voice quiet and full of fear as he tries to pull you a bit closer towards him, but you’re stuck in place. This wasn’t right. You felt sick to your stomach.
How could anyone hurt this man?
“Telling… Telling won’t… change anything...” He whispers softly as he watches you closely. “It looks worse than it is…” He tries as he winces while sitting up.
“Who. Did. This?” You repeat, not wanting to hear his usual ‘I can handle this’ speech. He sighs as you make quick work of raising his bed to a sitting position, so he wasn’t putting too much strain on himself.
“I know we’ve agreed to only ever meet at the library on campus, but… I wanted to try and surprise you. Got caught by campus student security. They… They said I was trying to peek at girls…” He finally says quietly as you touch his unbruised cheek.
"I lost my scholarship due to indecent behavior. The school scout just came by to tell me as soon as I was conscious enough. It's over, Y/N... I'll have to go back to Korea..." He sighs quietly.
“Wha... What?" You breathe out as you feel your heart drop at that moment. "N-No. No. Namjoon.” You whisper in disbelief as you shake your head fast. “This… This isn’t… This isn’t right!” You snap finally. “I… I gotta… I-I gotta tell the police o-or the campus main office. Somebody! Someone’s gotta help us!” You say fast as your mind races with what to do next. He shakes his head with a soft wince.
“Y/N, that’ll… That'll only make things… Worse.” He tries quietly and you feel the anger consume you. You felt powerless and overwhelmed at the same time. You let go of his cheek to brush your fingers through your hair instead.
“Baby. Come here.” He tries as he pats the space next to him in the bed, and you want to laugh at the cruel irony.
He’s still trying to care for you!
“I hate this. I-I can’t… I can’t lose you! No! No, I…” You whisper, tears filling your eyes as you watch him.
“It’s not up to you…” He points out quietly and you glare at that. It's true, but it stings.
“Joonie…” You mutter in an upset matter. He frowns and weakly grabs your hand, bringing it up to his lips, and giving your palm a soft kiss that you wish you could get tattooed on to your skin so it lasts centuries…
“Joonie. I… I could’ve lost you. That’s… That’s terrifying.” You finally whimper, sniffling to keep some composure. "Now you're telling me that I am going to lose you anyway? No!" You cry softly.
“Hey… Y/N...” He tries gently and you sniffle once more, shaking your head.
“You shouldn’t have to deal with this! We shouldn't have to deal with this! I... I shouldn't have to be worried every day that some... That somebody might..." You can't stop the sob that escapes your throat as the tears fall freely. "I couldn't have you... And at this moment you're getting taken from me..." You whimper finally as you hold yourself.
"Why the hell am I the only one mad?!" You shout as the tears run down your face faster. Why must he always be passive?!
Namjoon frowns deeply at that and looks down, as if ashamed. "Please... Please let me hold you." He whispers finally, his shoulder too hurt to reach out for you himself.
You sniffle and slowly give in, moving to sit on the hospital bed with him. He winces slightly but ignores it as he focuses on holding you as close to him as possible. “We have this moment. I have another day here. Just think about that..." He whispers against your hair before nuzzling his nose against your scalp. You shut your eyes as you focus on his scent, nose pressed against his hard chest.
"We're only promised 24 hours. Like everyone else." He continues quietly.
"But that's not fair." You whisper back as you look up at him. "We aren't like everyone else." You try quietly.
"Then what do we deserve? Hm?" He asks as he rubs his hand up and down your back.
"Give me 25." You say quietly after thinking a bit. Your hand gently balls around his hospital gown. His dragon like eyes scan your face, gliding along your features gracefully.
"An hour just for us?" He smiles finally and you shake your head.
"Just for you." You whisper, making him blush ever so slightly. You two were masters of soft whispers. That and writing was your only love language...
"I'll try. But... Technically speaking-" You cut him off, leaning up to kiss him. Always one to debate. It's how you two had met actually.
A wrong answer spoke during a mid-fall lecture meeting, a quiet voice correcting it, an embarrassed blush creeping on to your cheeks at being shown up by this random exchange student. You had confronted him at the end of that class to tell him off for proving you wrong in front of the whole class, but it just led to you two realizing that there was more here than just academic rivalry.
The kiss starts off slow and tender, but just as quickly does it turn hot and passionate. You feel Namjoon's tongue lightly graze your bottom lip, and your heart flutters. You two haven't been alone in two weeks. God it felt good to have his lips on yours right now.
This is all you had.
Your 25th hour was starting now...
You pull back to catch your breath, stroking his jawline tenderly. "Baby...” You whisper in a soft warning tone.
“I... I need you...” Namjoon whispers back between soft pants. You blush hard at the phrase that he whispered to you only once before. Inbetween two large bookshelves in the campus library as you laid on the soft grey carpet, hidden away from the rest of the world...
He has the same look in his eyes as he did that night. A need. A need to prove to himself that this is real. That you are real. You always needed that assurance too.
“Here?” You whisper quietly as you can't help but look towards the door. No one was coming in here. Namjoon had no family or friends in the states, and the nurse had told you she just finished her rounds. Could you pull this off?
“Y/N... All I thought of when I was being attacked... Was how I’d never get to see you again." He admits quietly.
"Don't." You whisper as you place a hand on his chest just to feel his heartbeat. That's all you wanted right now. Feeling the heart monitors where your hand should be was the only piece of reality in this moment that things could've been worse.
"Y/N." He places his larger hand over yours. "I... I need to prove to myself that I actually survived. That I’m here. With you. Please...” He says softly. You give him another glance, just trying to read his eyes. Then you slowly nod. With no further word, you get on top of him, careful not to hurt him.
“Let’s... Go slow...” You whisper as you rest your forehead against his. he nods once before he relaxes back against the hospital bed, looking up at you in adortion while you reach under your long skirt to pull your underwear off. He smiles softly at the cotton black fabric with pink hearts on it.
"Not a word." You mutter playfully, knowing he'd just flatter himself. He smiles up at you before you lean down, kissing him deeply. He kisses back with a feverish need for your lips to stay against his until you're both desperate for air. You grant that desire by grabbing ahold of his face carefully in both hands.
Little by little, your hand travels down from his face to between you both, just exploring until finally it reaches under the hospital bedsheets and under his gown. He pulls back from your lips to let out a low shiver as you wrap your hand around his semi.
You look him in the eyes as you lightly trace your fingertips along his tip, making his mouth fall open, small pants coming from him as his eyes close in anticipation of this bliss. You pull your hand back to spit on it and then stroke his cock to hopefully make it slick enough.
"Y/N..." He pants in need as you kiss along his neck, his head going further back to give you more room to roam, his eyes still closed in peace. With his cock wet and hard enough, you sit up on your knees and position yourself on top of him.
"Joonie... Look at me." You pant. He does exactly as you say. And you slowly sink on to his thick member.
"Oh... Oh god..." He moans quietly as you slide further down. His reaction makes you wetter while also making you blush hard.
"I thought you didn't believe in him?" You tease quietly as you sit fully on his cock, making him groan.
"It's hard to question when this is bliss..." He whispers, grabbing your hips.
You open your mouth to speak again, but instead you moan ever so softly against his lips when he grinds up against me. “Baby...” You whisper against his lips.
“I love you...” He whispers as he looks up at you while you begin to bounce, hand on his chest to rub it affectionately.
“I love you...” You whisper back as you find a good pace for you both, walls squeezing along his cock as you move, making him grip your hips tighter, catching your lips in a passionate kiss. You hold his face in your hands as you make out while you ride him passionately and eagerly to feel one with him.
"Baby...” He moans the second he pulls back from this kiss, his head falling back against the hospital pillows. You moan a bit louder and bite down on your lip hard to stay quiet in this moment, but he looks so perfect in this moment. Hair a mess, face scrunched in pleasure. “Oh... Oh, baby...” He moans quietly, arms wrapping around your waist tightly.
You can’t help but go faster. The thought of never having him again? It scared you enough to want to make him remember that he is loved. That you will always love him. Always try and take care of him. Nothing was promised. Not even your 25th hour...
“Baby. Baby. Y-Yes!” He pants, hugging you tighter to him as you pump your hips in need, desperately chasing down your high and his as his head rests in the cork of your neck, nipping and licking at the skin, always careful to not leave a mark though. You had an image to uphold. Moans fill the hospital room as the heart monitor beeps wildly and you so selfishly want it to match yours. Hands roam and heads roll back. You kiss and bite along his shoulder to silence yourself as best you can, reaching a hand up to grab his hair and yank it softly as he groans your name. It's never sounded more beautiful...
“Don’t leave me. You can’t leave me...” You whisper between heavy pants of thin air, your emotions damn near strangling you. He shivers at your breath so close to his ear.
“Never. I’d never... Never leave." He declares quietly, and a part of you knows. You both are smart enough to know. It's a promise sworn in vain, but god does it feel so honest in the moment. Your body trembles as you get closer.
"O-Oh, baby!” You moan more desperately as you grip on to him, refusing to ever let him go. You knew he was close too. You could feel his cock swell as you cum around him, and you keep up your pace, just wanting to feel him. There was no going back, and you didn't want to think of what the outcome of this could be. You just wanted to feel his warm seed. So, you speed up, whispering for him to cum in you.
He reaches down to rub your clit, making you jolt to a stop, grinding against his cock and hand as he moans happily at the feeling of your milking his cock. He shoots his cum hard into you as he focuses on kissing you, biting at your lips instead since you've turned into too much of a moaning mess to properly kiss him back. You cum once more on his cock as he kisses your chin sweetly while you try coming down from your high, moaning lowly. You hug him tight, arms around his neck, not wanting him to move an inch from you.
“Baby...” You finally whisper between heavy pants when your brain starts up again. He pulls back to look up at you.
“You’re perfect...” He breathes out, and you blush before kissing him again, tenderly in this moment you share.
Maybe this life was all you got...
**********PRESENT DAY**********
"I have to shower. And make sure you didn't mark me too bad..." The Korean male says from under you. "You need to let me up soon." He mutters, his morning voice rough and deep as you kiss all along his face ever so tenderly. A smirk on your lips. He'd be in for a nice surprise when he does see the litter of hickeys left on his neck, shoulder, and chest...
"No. I changed my mind. They can't take you." You say quietly as you pull away to look at the man you love. You've always felt connected to him, but this moment... This topic... You couldn't understand. You were a foreigner at the end of the day. So, the idea of having to enlist? Having to put a pause on your life to train and prepare for the slim chance there is danger for at least a year and a half? It was a culture shock...
"We spent the whole night awake. All those hours just for us." He points out and you pout a bit at that, feeling selfish as you wrap your arms around his neck, hands playing with the small hairs left from his buzzcut.
"You think we have a problem like this in every lifetime?" You mumble against his lips, bring up the conversation from yesterday morning, making Namjoon playfully roll his eyes.
"Not this again..." He jokes before grabbing your hips peacefully. "Mm... Honestly?" He asks and you nod as you watch him closely. "I think... If we did meet in every lifetime only to be pulled apart... At least we always find each other again. Hm?" He whispers and you search his eyes to see if he means that or if he's just humoring you. Slowly, you see the honesty in his eyes and the love. You blush and lean in to kiss him again.

No curse words? Just Japanese/Korean inspired speech levels/registers. They aren’t going to be shouting “Nightmares!” or “Spirits!”
Ok, this could be interesting

Respect is essential in Korean culture, and it's reflected in the language. Honorifics are used to show respect, and they indicate relative status within a group. When speaking to someone older or higher in rank, use the formal speech level ending with ~ㅂ니다. There are lots of honorific words in Korean, including nouns, pronouns, and titles. Here's a list of some common ones to get you started! 𝐍𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬 이름 –> 성함 (Name) 나이 –> 연세 (Age) 집 –> 댁 (House, Home) 생일 –> 생신 (Birthday) 말 –> 말씀 (Words) 밥 –> 식사 (Meal) 사람 –> 분 (Person) 아빠 –> 아버님 (Father) 엄마 –> 어머님 (Mother) 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬 Rather than simply adding -(으)시다, the following verbs have a special honorific version. 먹다 –> 드시다 (To Eat) 마시다 –> 드시다 (To Drink) 있다 –> 계시다 (To Exist) 만나다 –> 뵙다 (To Meet) 자다 –> 주무시다 ( (To Sleep) 말하다 –> 말씀하다 (To Speak) 묻다 –> 여쭙다 (To Ask) 주다 –> 드리다 (To Give) 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬: 성함이 어떻게 되세요? (May I have your name?) 연세가 어떻게 되세요? (May I ask your age?) 처음 뵙겠습니다 (It is nice to meet you) 잘 부탁드립니다 (Please take care of me)

I've been listening to all the Mr Nothing voices and this is what I imagine. This is specifically about the Talk 1 voiceline where he's listing all his credentials. I lumped mandarin and regional cn together because I personally (as somebody that doesn't speak cn) can't really tell a difference delivery wise. The only difference seems to be the dialect-
They all are trying to get the same idea across but I kinda like how they all try to do that a little bit differently from each other. JP feels like it's balancing that comedic tone with a hint of the dramaticism that Mr Nothing is known for. CN feels comedic but in a more genuine way, I don't know how to describe it but it feels less dramatic than the JP lines (it's still emotional and comedic, but it doesn't have the same ✨vibe✨). KR feels extremely theatric. Don't know if it's cus I'm less familiar with the Korean language so I'm not sure what the typical speaking tone would be but it feels a lot more exaggerated LMAO
I think the reason why I like the jp lines better is cus it's a perfect mix of both Mr Nothing's comedic and genuine sides ykyk
Image ID below
[Image ID: A digital doodle that depicts Mr Nothing in three different boxes that corresponds with each of his language voice lines. The text at the top says "Line: Talk 1" The first box is japanese, the second is chinese (both regional and mandarin) and the third is korean. In the japanese voiceline box, Mr Nothing is depicted in the typical suave way with his hand on his chest and a few small speech bubbles. The text underneath the box says "A good mix between comedic and theatrism, confident but in a way that makes you want to punch him". In the chinese voiceline box, Mr Nothing is depicted in a more simplified chibi form with many speech bubbles. The text underneath says "Feels more salesperson-y, kinda comedic but it feels more dry(?) and genuine, not as punchable". In the korean voiceline box, Mr Nothing is depicted a lot more dramatically with a finger pointing close to the camera. The text underneath says "very theatrical, a lot more comedic, punchable levels is in extreme levels"/.End ID]
