One thing that bothers me the most about KP’s approach is how they’re very keen on telling us stuff instead of showing it. So they say William is a “great statesman” which he is, but then they don’t show it properly.]

I disagree completely. KC3 is rightly called a great statesman, not by his spokesman but by others and that’s how it makes it way into the media. He’s put in the work over decades, at home and in the Commonwealth. There’s a reason so many firsts were extended to him on his Germany state visit - from the ceremonial welcome to addressing the Bundestag in session.

It’s a function of relationships that he’s built, often with little coverage or appreciation. Today would have been his and Camilla’s wedding anniversary but he rescheduled it to attend the Pope’s funeral, because it was such an important diplomatic event. Like Arthur Edwards who follows the Royals says: he knows everybody in the world, every Prime Minister, every Head of State.

William has a very long way to go to become even close to a great statesman - his meeting with Jamaica’s PM and the ill advised damage control speech on the Caribbean tour - show that. If he’s intending to be the future Head of the Commonwealth, why have him and Catherine never visited Africa? Why didn’t his wife attend the Commonwealth Day reception? How many Commonwealth countries have they visited?

Why doesn’t William speak Welsh yet, or comfortably any other language that we know of? What big domestic initiative does William has that sees him engaging with political leadership at home to build relationships? It’s like he’s woken up and realized at 40 he’s far behind on diplomatic credibility and having Lee give briefings to People mag to call him a “global statesperson” will make him one. It won’t - he has to put in the work. 3 week holidays every two months don’t help 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've seen people say it's because MA are the face of KP and they're too busy shooting their movie, but from a business pov doesn't it seem silly not to capitalize on KP while it's still hot? Thank you very much for your kind words. If season 2 isn’t happening, I doubt it’s only because of Mile and Apo schedule and the movie. I don’t really get what BOC is doing, do they even know themselves? They could be making decisions as they go based on what inspire them, for all we know. They have two main leads far too busy and 14 other actors who aren’t doing much?! Except for Jeff Satur.

For instance, what is Bible next work, move? As you said, ‘Doesn’t it seem silly not to capitalize on KP while it’s still hot?’ It’s what anybody would do. But they perhaps need a break from filming, etc. I don’t understand why they embarked on a world tour, delaying production of season 2 if they really intended to take advantage of KP’s success? Unless they’re unable to do so because of creative and production matters.

I believe one of the main issues is probably the script and working with the novel authors. It’s their creation so they have a say in what can be changed or not. If one hasn’t read the novel, one doesn’t really get how much work BOC put on the script. To each his own, but for me the novel is a mess, I couldn’t finish it, and for the avid reader that I am it’s rare. I have my own concerns with BOC but they did a remarkable job, they worked so much on characterisation which was lacking in the novel, the plot and they got rid of the use of rape to create fake angst. They created a unique story while keeping the essence of the novel. Vegas in the novel and the one in the series are certainly not the same. And what the authors have in store for the next novel is as troubling as the first one.

What else could it be? Financing? I doubt it. They have made a lot of money. BOC can also feel the need to explore new territories, have new adventures, they’re many ideas, books out there worth exploring. They can be picky now. They’re also rumours of next season focusing on the side couples. It could be an option but would they still call it KinnPorsche?

For me Mile and Apo have outgrown KinnPorsche, I don’t think there is more they could inject in those characters. They have done their best. They need to find other challenges and go beyond their own expectations. But I also understand emotions are involves, the love for instance Apo has for Porsche would make him perhaps go for more, if he has the time, of course.

In my humble opinion unless Mile and Apo are returning, with an amazing script, they should really stop there. It’s better to go off with a bang than a lukewarm reception.

I do believe the movie will be well received, it’s the right movie at the right time, and BOC knows it. People are more interested in what Asia entertainment industry has to offer. Thailand soft power hasn’t really been explored in depth and offered to an international audience lately. Let’s not forget Mile and Apo have now many followers at home and internationally. BOC doesn’t really need financial success, they had that with KP, they need to make an impact, seduce the critics at home and internationally and if the public follows, then BOC wins and wins BIG. And Mile and Apo of course get a crown.

I agree about charles but I just don't see how it will work. He'll send them where? Doing what? What about the book? Her podcast? The netflix show? What about them not being w royals? What when they'll be back in the US? Nothing about letting them do few gigs make sense and it will cause a fight with the Waleses. If that happens I don't see him sending them on Tour but inviting them to events that are considered official just like it happened with Bea and her sister sometimes. For example, Eugenie was invited to a reception in KP marking the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture 2017 and she was not a working royal. I can see things like that happening, especially if it happens as I think it will and they will now spend more time in the UK.

Yes to everything you just said. William and Kate were very work shy aka lazy. They did very little after their marriage in terms of public engagements. Harry was always out and about doing the work. Charles, the Queen and everyone else in that family/monarchy stood by and watched it all come crashing down on Meghan and didn't say one thing or lifted a finger to help her even while she begged for help and had suicidal thoughts.

Kate has been married to William for 10 years and she has done nothing of consequence in that time. Meghan came in, shook shit up and had very successful projects in the short time she was there.

The royal press pool must have been briefed about the upcoming tour dates, I don’t see why the telegraph would be so sure otherwise. The Caribbean media I’ve seen posting about it comes from seeing/meeting KP staff there, so I don’t know. But it is a bit strange how we haven’t heard something yet if it’s supposed to happen early March (watch KP out out an announcement today, lol).

I just don’t want them to miss St Patrick’s Day, and I kinda took it as confirmation that the Irish Guards posted about it yesterday (even though it wasn’t a confirmation). Bafta’s can be missed, and since I’m being a bit shallow they can also miss the diplomatic reception if it’s going to be a cocktail event.

Ngl there should be an announcement of the tour now if it’s going to take place on the first week of March. So yeah, keep an eye out regarding an announcement either today or tomorrow night. If not, it’ll definitely be announced after Kate’s Denmark visit.

I also agree with everything on the second paragraph. I hope they do attend St. Patrick’s. It’s been 3 years 😭

Hah, Pod Save the Queen recap anon again. I didn't realize there was a second episode about the Cambridge tour, so let me give you a few highlights from that, too: 1) Palmer says that the Cambridges looked super happy with each other, to be there, and with where they are in their work and vision for it/in sync body language-wise/in a very good place 2) They (I think he means the press) missed out on a BBQ at a British High Commissioner's house because of the flight drama 3) one of the pilots 1/

(pod anon) was screaming in the cockpit and one of the crew members got sick from the turbulence 4) William insisted that they "all go together" as one group to the hotel and was ok with them talking about coming back to check on them and joking around about flying the plane 5) They went back to SOS Village because they thought there were lessons to be learned to bring back to Britain & they had run out of time to do some of the activities they were originally supposed to do 6) Kate's photos 3/

4 March 2020. Ireland Tour Day 2

TRH the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge started day 2 on tour of Ireland at Jigsaw in Temple Bar, the National Center for Youth Mental Health.There, the couple met with staff and young adults who personally felt the positive effects of the Youth Mental health center.  

They stepped out after and visited Love Lane, a popular attraction of wall art in the Temple Bar neighborhood--it’s said to be covered in romantic quotes. 

After Jigsaw, Will and Kate visited Savannah house and met with the charity that runs the house, Extern. There, they put themselves to use at meal prepping-- a healthy life skill Savannah house equips it’s patrons with among other vital skills. After, Will and Kate faced off on a friendly game of table tennis--KP’s instagram story had some fun with this, go check it out before it’s gone. 

After, they headed to County Meath and visited Teagasc Research Farm to learn about the farms research in sustainable farming and talked to farmers who practice sustainability. 

The last engagement of the “day” was embargoed and it was a visit to Howth Cliff. According to Kensington Royal instagram, they met with the Marine Institute to “talk about their innovating work across Ireland” before we got those gorgeous photos of Will and Kate walking alone, taking in the coast line. 

The Duke and Duchess attended a reception the evening of their last day in Dublin, hosted by Irish Tánaiste Simon Coveney. Tánaiste means deputy head of government, so I think we can say he’s deputy Prime Minister. The reception was held at the Museum of Literature Ireland and it was here that Will made his speech on the future of positivity, peace, and the special bond between Ireland and the UK. 

Now, the diplomatic fashion. 

Outfit one of the day brought back a much loved coat from Kate’s pre-Duchess days. I keep seeing people say it’s a touch dated and I don’t feel that way? I think it’s a classic silhouette with a fun collar. Everything else in this outfit is new (EDIT: Equipment blouse is NOT new, it’s a rewear)--the shamrock earrings are really on the nose and cheesy but I almost find it endearing because it’s such a Kate thing to do when dressing diplomatically. New boots are unnecessary? Kate easily could have worn her Aquatalia ankle boots or her LK Bennett lace up boots (girl has too many shoes) but I digress. Kate wore high waisted jeans today and I feel like I’ve never seen her in any? But this was an easy, casual look and I loved her bringing this coat back. 

Classic Kate, she kept her staple pieces on (jeans and earrings) and swapped out the rest for a fresh look more appropriate for a farm and a hike on a cliff. These Penelope Chilvers boots have seen a lot and can now say they’ve walked on Ireland. The jacket is new and is her first and only Irish brand so far this whole tour. Ignoring some of Kate’s life choices when it comes to patterns on this tour, my biggest complaint is the lack of local designers. Maybe the Pakistan tour spoiled me, but I really wanted to see Irish designers. 

Last outfit of the day saw Kate in vintage and no I’m not talking about her Reiss coat vintage, I’m talking actual vintage. I believe this is the first time Kate has done this and now that it’s been done I’m going to need to see it done more often. The dress itself is pretty, but I really hate that hanging ruffle beneath the ruffled collar (if there’s a word for it, I don’t know it). Did you also see Will’s tie matched Kate’s dress?? I love when they do that 😍 Other than that, I’m just really glad she’s not wearing a color of the flag of Ireland tonight, she was a little too green yesterday. Shoes and clutch are a repeat and the earrings are new and sent a lot of us into a tizzy trying to track them down. I’m honestly unsure of who to give credit to, but Kate’s fashion sleuths are amazing. 

These two head to Galway tomorrow for a day of engagements for their final day in Ireland!

Why does the W&K India tour always gets critizcied? What happended during it?

There were a lot of gaffes. KP requested that the scaffolding at the Taj Mahal be taken down for the royal visit because they didn't want it to ruin the big photo op.

William and Kate were also massively unprepared. They asked stupid questions, made stupid comments (Kate responded with "gosh, how interesting" when she was told about children who were mutilated and forced to be beggars), and showed that they didn't do their research. Kate admitted that she learned about the love Taj Mahal love story by the tour guide. William, at a Bollywood event, admitted that he had never actually watched a Bollywood film.

The Indian press didn't really show up and the Cambridges had a very lukewarm reception by the locals.

There was also the incident where the press wasnt allowed to be on the mountain hike in Bhutan. They initially planned to have a press blackout all together on the mountain because Will and Kate wanted to "enjoy private time". KP only backed down after having a row when British broadcasters started reporting that the Cambridges were on a taxpayer funded vacation 🤦‍♀️

Disclaimer on this review: I am a massive Katy Perry fan. I love Lady Gaga, I love Taylor Swift – but I worship Katy Perry. The colourful, eccentric singer/songwriter first drew me in with One of the Boys picking up in my pop music education where Britney and X-tina left off. From there, it was a roller coaster ride of hit after hit, Teenage Dream, Firework, Part of Me, Roar, Dark Horse and my personal favourite, Wide Awake. Nearly every hit went straight to the top, but then came the era of Witness, where the critics turned their heads with every strand of raven locks she shed.

The sexy, Betty Boop Katy was gone – replaced by Katheryn Hudson, experimenting with sound and trying to reclaim her identity with her newly shorn blonde hair.

Anyone who watched WitnessWorldWide, the 72-hour Big Brother Style web series Perry created to celebrate the release of the album could see the star was struggling – but nobody knew just how much.

This is where I might lose people. I still listen to Witness all the time. It didn’t get enough radio-play, but it boasts some of my favourite songs from Perry like, Save As Draft. It was different – but like Perry and Gaga have taught countless fans, different isn’t a bad thing.

After the Witness era, Perry kept her new look and kept pushing her sound. She appeared on the Calvin Harris bop Feels and was featured on Zedd’s 365 both great songs that did well, but somehow didn’t give Perry any of the credit. There was still the myth perpetuating that Perry had lost her touch. Then came Never Really Over – perhaps one of Perry’s best songs to date, followed by the light and plucky Small Talk (which sadly didn’t make the cut for Smile) and die-hard Perry fans like me could feel it: this wasn’t old Katy – this was a new, stronger, happier Katy.

When Daisies was released, I was at one of my lowest points mentally. It was as if it was a gift from Perry herself, a 2020 Firework for me to blare while I went on long drives to clear my head and get my confidence back.

I’ve listened to Smile in its entirety four times since it was released at midnight, a day after Perry announced the birth of her daughter, Daisy Bloom. Perry’s digital press tour gave a glimpse into her state of mind making the album: she struggled, she was on the mend, she was ready to work and do the work to stay happy and healthy (whether she repeated her past successes or not).

From start to finish, Smile is perhaps Perry’s most cohesive album to date. Each song flows into the other, with Perry singing about pain and resilience while fans dance along. The singles, including Harleys in Hawaii are the strongest on the album (nothing will beat Never Really Over or Daisies for me… nothing!) but Teary Eyes and Cry About it Later are the sequel to songs like Walking On Air – she makes music for different areas. It might not be for the radio – but these songs will fit on any dance floor, any club or any social distance dance party in your house.

That’s where Smile reminds me of (Lady Gaga’s) Chromatica and even (Taylor Swift’s) Folklore – Perry, like Gaga and Swift have proven themselves, achieved more than their male counterparts (in any genre) and are bucking the expectation that they need to measure themselves by the same standards as they used to. There may be songs for the masses, but instead, each is making music they love and they think fans will love. That authenticity will deliver success and resonate with fans. And as a KP fan through and through, Smile 36 minutes of fun, hopefulness and escapism.

Smile earns its spot among Teenage Dream and One of the Boys as one of Perry’s best albums to date.

After Elizabeth shared her thoughts with us, she said she couldn’t wait to hear what I thought. So here it is. I think that Smile bangs, but it’s also much more than that. This album is way more introspective and personal than I could have expected (because I’m not deep into her on a regular basis), and I applaud that as a fan of artists who aren’t afraid to go all in on themselves when they create. In listening to these songs it is clear that this is a grown woman, owning all of the things about her life and managing to turn it into important pop music.

I hope that Perry’s fans embrace the personal depth on this album and I hope that pop music fans give it a good listen as well. And, if I’m really reaching with hopes, I hope that Smile and the songs and stories included, get measured alongside other pop albums that are celebrated for their writing just as much as their sing-along potential or danceability.
