My own opinion...Let me know if yall agree or not
Tumblr media
Kpop netizens/fans are only this chill about Twice members coming out about dating because the group isn't in their prime anymore. And yall know what I mean when I say that.... for whatever reason, some K-pop fans are obsessed with younger female idols and the infantilizing of idols. If this was twice's "What is love", "Likey", etc... eras, I think these fans will be damn near rioting about these dating news, like how they did when Karina revealed she was dating. (And she technically is considered in her prime, her group as well).
And it could be just said that once's are a chill fandom, but even seeing how so-so fans reacted to Joy getting with Crush makes me think fans are only this chill bc these girls popularity have gone done and their ages have gone up.

attentention broke kpop fans!! I gots a life hack for you
so I just subscribed to Doyoung's bubble. I am broke as a joke (having a 2 year old is expensive living on steroids) but here's how you can also be broke and subscribe.
@affectionate-at-heart here ya go!!
bear in mind, I have a samsung phone but for those of you that have apple, I will do my best to help.
also note that I will be talking in US dollars because that's the currency I use
this is not a sponsorship or anything I'm just broke and wanna help other broke fans
So you gotta download Google Opinion Rewards.
Samsung/Android users
this is what you're gonna see on the Google play store
Tumblr media
so utilize it!!!
once you get enough rewards, you make purchases in the google play store using your available balance.
if you attach your PayPal account to your playstore account then you can have those funds sent to your paypal account and you can then send it to your debit card or bank account after that.
note that if you connect your paypal, you have to wait to build up your rewards to about $2.40 or something like that whereas if you let it go straight to the playstore, you get the payment a few seconds after each survey you complete.
Apple users
it's pretty much the same for Apple
this is kinda how it's gonna look. naturally i can't show you exactly how it looks since I don't have an iPhone
Tumblr media
so you guys have to set it up to your paypal because that's the only way you're gonna get the rewards. it's also different because your payout will only come after each $2.40 or so that you earn
attn apple and android users
Google will pay you anywhere between 2 cents and a dollar. if you set up your location permissions, google will even send you surveys based on the general area you shop in like if you went to Target or wherever, they'll send surveys based on those. they also send them based on your google searches.
bear in mind sometimes the surveys come like crazy and sometimes there are dry spells. as a former iPhone user, I noticed that I did get way more surveys once I switched back to android.
also, I don't use Chrome. I use Microsoft edge on my phone
it's nicer for a few reasons but i noticed after i switched that i was sent 3 $1 dollar rewards in less than 2 days. i initially switched because i like using edge because it has a read aloud option so you can have the fics read to you and I like using it to catch my fic mistakes but anyway but was it coincidental that those $3 came after i swiched? idk but if it doesn't happen to you, don't come over here calling me a liar.
so good luck yall!!

Any Shawol, or other K-Pop fan that has been through something similar, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE A BIG FAN OF A GROUP/IDOL FOR RANDOM STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET! If they don’t believe you or they’re accusing you of something you’re not, do not destroy your self worth just to stay with them.
Better people will come through when you least expect it, and I’m living proof that this exists. I left social media for months due to cyber bullying for being a Blinger (a SHINee fan that is Jonghyun biased) and decided to go to cupsleeve events to find K-Pop fans. By chance, I met two K-Pop fans on the streets of Piccadilly Circus/Oxford Circus that are super into K-Pop and love me for who I am without changing or removing any aspect of my identity. Pretty much, I feel comfortable talking about SHINee and Jonghyun with them without feeling awkward or judged. Everything is two-sided, authentic and this is the first time I ever felt like I wasn’t second priority in a friendship. I met other great Shawols too, but I just had to show my latest win.
If finding friends online isn’t working for you, then you can take a break and find friends elsewhere. Just because we’re living in the 21st century, doesn’t mean EVERYONE is looking for friends online. You got to try and find a place that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. There’s plenty of places that you could find, or you could just be lucky and bumped into the right person at the right time. Just get yourself out there and you could find someone without realising it.
I wish you all good luck on your journey!

The sad thing is people who like k-pop, especially a lot of people who follow Hybe groups, view it as a status symbol. They can afford the most expensive merch and tickets and make themselves feel better than other people. Those kind of people really don’t give a shit about a gen*cide. They were already heartless to begin with. They’ll never boycott.

Ok so I’m new here k-pop fans so help me out but…Is it normal for k-pop fans to get defensive when ppl have the same bias as them???
Just rly got into enhypen and my bias is Sunghoon and I was talking to this girl today and she asked for my bias and I said Sunghoon and she went “No. He’s mine. We’ve been married since debut. Go get another bias this man is MINE” I WAS LIKE OK GIRL-
Cuz in the vtuber community if you share a fav streamer you like bond over it and like rec stuff to ppl who are newer- and same with like all other music and stuff but is K-pop just genuinely this defensive 😭😭😭

Tali, 30s, Canada. (she/her)
Name: Tali Nickname: T/Tee Country: Canada Birth year: 1991 Gender/Pronouns: Female (she/her) Multi?: Totally! I'd likely be more sane (and less broke) if I liked just one group, but I'd also be missing out on so much amazing music. So yeah, proud multi right there. Can I message you?: Of course! Whole reason I started this was to help fans connect with other fans. :) I'm always up for making new friends. Socials?: I used to have a Twitter once upon a time, but I never used it. For now, I'm pretty much just active here (on Tumblr), but if I get to talking with some of you and we hit it off, perhaps we can switch over to email or Kakao. (Not comfortable with just putting that information out for the masses, though. Safety first, guys. :D) Blog URL: kpopulr.tumblr.com
— Fan since: I don't know exactly how long it's been, but I was around the age of 14 when I first got into Korean music, and everything else just snowballed from there. xD First concert: BTS (2018) — Yes, been a fan of the music for nearly 2 decades, but I was late to the game with attending concerts. I just had no one to go with, and only one other fan who liked KPop so I never even considered bringing up going to one to my parents. I wish I had though, because there are a lot of groups that I probably/definitely won't get to see now. (With that said, groups barely come to Canada *now* so I highly doubt I would've had much luck with groups I liked coming back in the early 2000s.) First bias: I'm not 100% sure —because again, it was so long ago— but my guess is either BoA or GD (from Big Bang). If not either of those two, Miyavi. (He's a guitarist from Japan.) Song that got you hooked: Again, been so long, so... I don't know if this is for sure the song that got me, but I do remember watching it A TON when it first came out. I had been listening to Kpop before this point, but I feel like this was what really got me into looking into what other groups might be out there (and I wouldn't be surprised if this was around the time I got into liking 2NE1, too.) Specifically at the 24s point I remember watching over and over and over. (Big crush on BoA back in the day, I gotta say. xD)
youtube
Favourite music genre: I listen to literally everything, with the exception of country and classical. I just never really got into it (with the exception of Shania Twain when I was younger, because that was literally the only other type of music in the house apart from gospel, so it was kind of a 'which do I not like the least of these two' situation. haha. Because I'm so all over the map with my music tastes, it was very easy to get into liking music in other languages as well. I'm grateful to Youtube coming along and bringing it all to my attention. (Yes, I'm older than Youtube. What an old fart, eh? xD)
Latest concert attended: Eric Nam, about a week(ish) ago. It was my second time seeing him. Prior to that I attended a concert from Kingdom, and next up I'm going to be seeing D&E. (Majorly Donghae biased gal right there. I'm so excited, even though I don't have great seats.)
Girl groups or guy groups?: Well, I like both, but I certainly stan more of the guy groups. (If I had any friends interested in seeing the girl groups I like —*ahem* Mamamoo... *cough* Hwasa *ahem*— and if any of them would come to my country then I would be SO THERE, but I fear even if they did come I would have to go alone, and being the anxious, socially dysfunctional person that I am... I would not enjoy that experience (no matter how incredible the concert was.)
That's all I can think of at the moment, but as the database gets built up and other people start putting up their profiles, perhaps I can get more ideas of what questions to answer and I'll update my 'bio' more.

In the light of everyone enlisting, this is a reminder that if Bangtan themselves or their company didn’t post/share it, it doesn’t exist. We're not supposed to know the things that tabloits post about the boys' time in the military. It is an invasion of their privacy and the least we, as fan, can do is not share it.
This isn’t a good thing. This isn’t a vacation. This is nothing to be celebrated or praise them for. This is not content for you to enjoy.
They did not choose to enlist, they are forced to do so.
The least you can do here is not share articles and photos that invade their privacy. The least you can do is respect their privacy. Respect them.

dear gen 4 kpoppers,
if you’re under 14 (any age really but ESPECIALLY THEM) and you’re a kpop fan, PLEASE (for the sake of god) go offline and enjoy yourself. come on wattpad to make your sappy fluff fanfics about your bias, or draw a pretty picture of your bias group making out with each other. go party in your room whilst listening to faves or fantasise about making out with your bias.
this generation really needs to know that it’s ok to be cringy. you was young at the time and you so happened to grow up to acknowledge your actions. it’s a part of growing up. don’t think you have to fit in with the good twitter stans crowd to make your fandom look good in any capacity. just enjoy your group, don’t worry about the streams and be yourself. the only thing i’d ask you is to not harass anyone for having a different opinion as you and especially don’t harass kpop idols. other than that, go wild! you may have cringy memories, but at least you’re having fun rather than trying to fit in with the “mature” crowd. plus, you’re only young once and that “mature” brain of yours will come whenever you’re ready. it could be when you turn 16, 18, 21 or even 25. humans are just like flowers. each one of them blooms at different rates and at different times.
if you do want to have the mature outlook and you’re under 14, then that’s totally fine. i’m just here to say that it’s also ok if you want to be your age and have fun without having to be too restricted. you’re totally within your own right to choose what you want to do and you don’t need to listen to me if you don’t want to. i’m just here to say that we need to start normalising pre-teens being pre-teens and teens being teens. you’re allowed to experiment with kpop idols you like, just as long as you’re not crossing the line by harassing them or anyone else such as fans and non-fans.
that’s all i wanted to say.

‼️Some unnecessary kpop vent:
I’ve been seeing so many people on the kpop fandom beginning to set laws for what distinguish them into a “true fan’’ and “false fan.” So many fans attack other fans for not streaming mvs, for not voting everyday, and call them disloyal and less loving fans just cause they can’t keep upto date with the fandom consistently. People diss e/o for not buying albums and merch and ofcourse suddenly if you’re someone who does all this, you’re superior and the ones who don’t are smh inferior.
first of all, I totally understand that streaming, voting, buying albums for charts are what HEAVILY contribute to an artist’s success. However, whilst some people really want to engage in such activities, unfortunately they cannot because at the end of the day we all have our lives. We’re studying, attending uni, working jobs, looking after families (and pets) and so busy in our own way that most times we can’t find the bare minimum MINUTE to engage in fan activity. As for buying merch, as someone who collects so much merch myself too, i want to say that not everyone has the money to collect so many albums or merch (bc they are expensive at the end of the day) and some people just don’t have the independence to do it. (They have strict families or are minors.) please do not belittle these fans and look down on them simply because they can’t engage in some fan activities. When artists’ thank their fans, they don’t only say thanks to the fans who come to concerts or spend money on them, they thank each and every fan who has liked them, supported them in any way and interacted with their music. Because that’s how it is. In our own ways, we all show our support and love for our cherished artists.
Second of all, do not guilt trip content creators or writers or fan account runners when they are inconsistent with their posts about the idols. Like stated earlier, we all have a busy life outside of kpop and can’t commit to it 24/7. As we grow up, we’re all burdened by life and a lot of responsibilities. If you’re someone who enjoys being deeply invested in kpop, memorises all discographies of the bands you Stan, spend money, stream all day, THEN THAT IS TOTALLY FINE TOO. We all dictate how we lead our lives, just don’t try to force others to live theirs your way. Thirdly, please do not bully or look down on fan accounts/ blogs with less followers and interactions and consider yourself better if you have higher followers. Please, this isn’t a competition to prove who’s better. We’re all doing good in our own unique ways.
What I want to say is that, most of us engage ourselves in kpop to find comfort, happiness, smile, find an alternative way to escape reality through our idols and their music to feel loved and appreciated. So, please do not make this a toxic place by ruining the community by such actions and driving so many disheartened people away. Atleast on tumblr, like it has always been, let fangirls live in their small sphere of happiness and appreciation together.
