— pairing: yandere ot7 x (f) reader — word count: 4.8k — warnings: yandere, stalking, obsessive behaviour, spanking as punishment, minor injuries, other content that may be triggering. — summary: You dreamed of the day you would get your very own soulmark. Though, you didn’t expect to wake up to a searing hurt in your arm, the phantom pain of your shoulder being dislocated and your forearm fractured. As if dealing with the worst possible soulmark ever wasn’t bad enough, you also have to come to terms with the fact that you’re being stalked. When the letters and gifts you receive begin to escalate and the police offers no help, you have no other option than to figure out who’s behind it yourself – and hopefully before it’s too late.

You wake up to the sound of gravel crunching under Namjoon's shoes.
Your face is tucked against his chest, breathing in the scent of the crisp night air that lingers on his coat. It takes you a moment to reorient yourself, for the last tendrils of unconsciousness to slip away.
It all comes crashing down over you like a cold bucket of water as reality sets in; he's taking you back to the cabin.
It'll be as if the last hours never happened, as if you never stepped foot outside the sturdy wooden structure. You're going back to them – except, perhaps it won't be the same men that you left that you'll have to face once you step back inside. The soulmates you ran away from were terrible and selfish but they were never cruel. After your failed escape attempt, however, you no longer know if that still rings true. If that's something you can count on.
Your body locks up at the thought of the monsters waiting for you down the road, muscles spasming with the need to move despite the utter exhaustion weighing you down.
Namjoon tightens his grip around your middle as you grow stiff, arms locking you securely against his body.
"You're awake," He notes, the usual honey in his voice gone. "It's for the best. We can deal with everything much quicker this way."
The fearful whine that shoots up your throat gets trapped behind your teeth, your lips too numb for the noise to pass through them. It takes great effort for you to move your head over, turning just enough that you're able to pick up on your surroundings. Namjoon must have parked just down the bend from the cabin, his steady steps already closing in on the dark silhouette looming between the trees in the distance.
Your heart feels like it's trying to beat itself out of your chest as you pick up on muffled yells, shivers racing down your frozen spine as you make out six distinct voices. The soft light emanating from the cabin sends ferocious shadows dancing across the ground, their movements erratic and violent.
It gets harder to breathe the closer you get, your chest refusing to move as Namjoon steps up on the small patio in front of the entrance. Blood rushing in your ears, you try to make yourself as small as possible in his arms as he reaches out for the handle, wishing you could just melt away into nothing. Anything would've been better than this.
The cabin goes deadly still as Namjoon pushes the door open.
Your vision blurs as you're brought into the heat, your eyes stinging as you attempt to blink some moisture back into them. You can barely make out the six fuzzy figures scattered around the room, their bodies stock still as if they're frozen in time. The chilly wind that blows into the cabin is nothing compared to the sight that greets you as your eyes adjust – the six men in front of you looking everything from angry to icy to hurt. A few of them even have the gall to glare at you with something akin to betrayal; like you were only stringing them along for your amusement and not your survival.
It leaves you trembling with fear, the knowledge that no matter what you do, nothing will make them understand that they're the ones in the wrong. That they're the selfish ones.
Namjoon takes another step forward, chest rising with a small sigh as he readjusts you in his grip. Perhaps he regrets bringing you back now that he can see the state the others are in, their hair and clothes rumpled, the furniture in the common room strewn about like a hurricane has torn through it.
You glance back up at his face in time to see him set his jaw, his voice tight as he says, "We're back."
The door that slams shut behind him jerks the cabin back into motion, the noise that was sucked out before suddenly rolling over the room like a crashing wave. You screw your eyes shut as their yells blend into each other, feet thundering across the room as they stumble over themselves to reach you.
"What were you thinking?!" You flinch as Taehyung's voice booms across the cabin. You can't discern if it's anger or concern that's got him so agitated, so loud, and that scares you.
"Calm down, Taehyung. I know you were worried but this isn't the way to show it," Yoongi hisses.
His voice drifts closer, a little softer, as he addresses you, "You're lucky Namjoon found you, Y/n. You're already chilled to the bone."
"Never scare me like that again, angel," Seokjin sounds wobbly as he pats over your hair, hushing the choked noise you make at the contact.
Your eyes flutter open against your will at the low, irritated snort that travels through the room.
Jimin stands with his arms crossed over his chest by the couch, scowling as the two oldest keep fretting over you. "Don't tell me you already forgot why you were so distraught in the first place, hyungs? Y/n ran away. She was just playing with us with whole time – she doesn't love us."
Seokjin's fingers still in your hair, the warm touch of his hand slowly receding as he takes a step back. He throws a hard glance over his shoulder, mouth pinched in annoyance, "Jimin, did I not tell you to shut up for the rest of the night?"
Jimin grits his teeth at Seokjin's tone, turning his head to stare blankly at the wall.
"He's right though," Hoseok says, hand brushing over Jimin's shoulder as he steps closer. "Y/n tricked us. She betrayed the trust we gave her and we can't let that slide without any consequences."
"What are you suggesting?" Namjoon leans back on his heels, fingers digging into your thigh.
"She deserves a punishment," Hoseok blankly states, eyebrows cocked as he stares you down, "Don't you agree, Y/n?"
"N-no," You weakly shake your head.
The tsk you get from Hoseok in return makes you recoil, the fear in your body so tangible you can taste it on the tip of your tongue.
"I think you're right, Hobi."
A small, betrayed gasp leaves your lips as you hear Yoongi's careful drawl. His agreement stings more than expected, somehow you had deluded yourself into thinking that Yoongi wasn't as bad as the other men in the room; that he and Jungkook actually seemed to care a little for you and not just your soulmate connection.
Jungkook still hasn't moved from where he's sat in one of the big ratty armchairs near the couches. His doe eyes are shiny with tears when you meet them across the room. Jungkook starts curling in on himself the longer you look, shame pulling at his features as he ducks his head.
"Fine," Namjoon says, "But nothing too bad."
"Of course not. I don't actually want to hurt sunshine, she just needs to learn a lesson," Hoseok scoffs.
The men around you share a look, a silent conversation passing between them. You have no idea what they're thinking but it frightens you to know that this must have been something they have already discussed, that they've already decided on a punishment should you ever disobey them.
"Who–?" Seokjin trails off, biting his lip nervously between his teeth.
"I'll do it," Taehyung sounds chastised, his voice meek as he adds, "I should do it."
He takes a seat in the middle of the couch, dragging his hands over his jeans as he gives Namjoon a nod to show that he's ready.
"W-what, no!" You uselessly tug at Namjoon's coat as he strides across the room, your frozen limbs making it impossible to fight back as you're carefully manhandled across Taehyung's lap.
Fingers wrap around your ankles, keeping your legs glued against the couch as you futilely try to push yourself up with shaking arms. Another hand is pressed against the small of your back, rendering your movement useless. No matter how much you try to squirm, you're simply too exhausted and cold to shake them off.
It takes you a second to recognize the position you're in, disgust curling in your stomach as it hits you that you're about to be spanked.
"I'm not a c-child," You bite through clattering teeth, fingernails digging into threadbare cushions.
"No? You sure act like one," Hoseok scowls. "Big girls wouldn't run off like you did."
You jerk as Taehyung's hand settles on the back of your thigh. You turn your head back to look at him as the others crowd around the couch, voice breaking as you whisper, "Please don't."
Taehyung doesn't meet your eye. His gaze is trained resolutely on his hand, his expression pinched. The corner of his mouth is downturned as he moves his hand from your thigh to your butt, his long fingers easily spanning over one cheek.
You let out a shuddering breath at the unwanted touch, pressing your forehead to the couch to hide away from the six burning pairs of eyes that surround you. Taehyung's fingers flex against the material of your trousers as he murmurs something under his breath, the feeling so weirdly intimate it makes your eyes cloud over, hot tears trailing down your temple.
"It's just ten, babe. We could do a lot worse," He comments gruffly.
There's no preamble before Taehyung raises his hand and delivers the first hit, the harsh smack echoing through the room. You bite your tongue, choking down the strangled cry that tries to rush up your throat.
You feel the imprint of his fingers burn on your cheek, the sudden pain so consuming you barely register how someone else hisses out a low curse.
It's only when Taehyung is on the third hit that you feel how he jolts as his hand makes contact; how it takes him a moment to collect himself before he delivers the next one. The fifth smack brings a weird sense of clarity to you, Yoongi's irritated cough finally making you realize that you're all feeling Taehyung's slaps. Your soulbond is connected through pain so the hurt that blooms with every hit doesn't just affect you – it has an impact on them as well.
The somber atmosphere in the room isn't just because they're disciplining you for running away; they're also punishing themselves for letting it happen.
You let out a harsh breath at the next smack. Despite the numbness in your limbs, you can feel how horrible your butt is stinging, the alternating hits doing little to lessen the pain a new one brings. It becomes harder and harder to think with each hit, your mind slowly falling apart under the excruciating combination of fear, exhaustion and pain.
The final smack seems to linger in the room and the silence that follows feels so thick you might crumble under it.
Your right-hand aches as Taehyung uses his to lightly rub over your smarting ass, his breathing shaky as he tries to soothe the bruises that are no doubt already starting to form.
"Hyung," Taehyung rasps.
The hands pressing on your back and ankles disappear in an instant. Taehyung springs away as Namjoon lifts you, moving your body into Seokjin's waiting arms. You try to blink away the tears clinging to your lashes as Seokjin leans you back against his chest, taking some of the pressure off your backside as you're maneuvered to lay on your side.
"You're absolutely freezing, angel," He tuts. He motions for Yoongi to grab him a nearby blanket, quickly tucking you in. The warmth that wraps around you is a small comfort, but it's not nearly enough to quell the shivers that are still rattling through your body.
"Let's do this quick, she needs to warm up."
You swallow thickly as Namjoon kneels by your feet, gently pulling your socks off. They're so cold you struggle to move your toes.
It's not until a rush of warm air hits your exposed skin that you realize you're hurt. Your soles are aching something fierce and you catch a glimpse of blood on the socks Namjoon throws down beside him.
"Darling," Namjoon furrows his brows as he looks at the torn skin, tongue poking into his cheek in disappointment. "Why did you do this to yourself?"
He shakes his head as if you're going to answer him. Heaving out a heavy sigh, Namjoon wordlessly accepts a small basin of warm water and a cloth from Hoseok, wetting and wringing the material out before he brings it to your feet.
You let out a wounded hiss as he makes contact, your foot involuntarily jerking away from the water that stings your open cuts. The quick movement causes you to drag your sole against the couch and it only causes you more hurt, a sharp pain shooting up your leg.
"Fuck," You whimper, body shaking against Seokjin's as Namjoon quickly reaches out to grab your foot, holding it securely over the side of the couch. You can feel Seokjin's leg twitch as the pain moves through the soulbond, the others grimacing as they feel it too.
"Angel, please be careful," Seokjin admonishes as he tucks his head over your shoulder, holding you in a tight hug as he rests his cheek against yours.
You shudder as Namjoon once again brings the cloth back to your skin, wincing as he meticulously and carefully cleans up all the dried blood and dirt clinging to your wounds. Namjoon's voice is perturbed as he moves on to your other foot, holding it with a firm grip as he says, "This is why we were holding you down during your punishment, darling, so you wouldn't hurt yourself more by moving around. We don't enjoy doing any of this."
You choose not to voice your disbelief. Judging by the sour look Jimin sports as he stares you down, you're sure it's written all over your face regardless.
Namjoon hands off the dirty water and cloth to Yoongi, switching it out with an antiseptic cream that he starts dabbing on your cuts.
Seokjin's warm breath hits the corner of your mouth as he cautiously asks, "What made you come back, Joon? You weren't supposed to return until tomorrow."
The bandage that's being wrapped around your left foot pauses, Namjoon tilting his head as he mulls over what to respond.
"I think it was that pull you've talked about before. I just suddenly felt like I had to go back to the cabin, that I was needed here," He lets out a low snort, humorless. "I guess whatever feeling it was, was correct."
"Interesting," Yoongi muses. He leans against Jungkook's chair, absentmindedly patting the youngest's hair. Jungkook leans into the comforting touch, face still marred with shame as he chances a glance over at you in Seokjin's arms.
You stare blankly down at Namjoon's hands as he finishes up one bandage and moves on to the next, his words echoing in your head. Did the soulbond somehow call him back? If it knew you were trying to put distance between yourself and your soulmates, can it work against you to keep you from separating from them?
You don't want to believe that it can affect you that much. But if it is true, does that mean your own soul is betraying you – that it'll do whatever it takes to keep you close to these monsters who don't actually care about you, as long as it'll keep the bond strong?
"It's definitely too strange to just be a coincidence," Hoseok purses his lips.
The sweater you picked out this morning suddenly feels too heavy on your shoulders. Was it just by chance that you picked out one that belongs to Namjoon, or is there something else to it? Can you even trust yourself anymore?
You barely register as Namjoon finishes wrapping up your foot, the blanket being pulled away from your body as Seokjin lets go of your waist. Your chest is tight and your vision spotty as you're handed off to Yoongi, too many awful thoughts and feelings all vying for your attention at once.
You feel yourself being carried again, the lights going from soft to bright, but it's like everything is underwater, muffled and out of reach. Yoongi's blurry face is suddenly in front of yours and it takes you once, twice, to focus on what he's saying; for the words to make any sense. "–can you do it yourself?"
Yoongi sighs as you stare blankly back at him. He brushes a finger down your trembling jaw, wincing at how cold your skin feels. "Y/n, you really need to warm up. I'm going to place a stool for you inside the shower so that you can rest and we can keep your feet outside of it and dry. I know you'd rather not have me undress you, but are you able to do that yourself?"
"Yes," You croak, disgust rippling across your body as you think of Yoongi undressing you, of any of them seeing you so vulnerable.
"Okay," Yoongi says, unconvinced. You bite your lip harshly as you're placed down on the closed toilet seat, the pressure awful on your bruised ass.
Yoongi steps over to turn the shower on for you, the old pipes rattling as water starts spewing out of them. He keeps his hand under the spray until he deems the temperature good enough. His expression is sorry yet firm as steps back, nodding to the door as he explains, "I can't leave the room but I'll keep my back turned to you the entire time. You're too weak to be left on your own right now. I won't turn around until you tell me it's okay. I promise."
"Do you want help to get over to the stool once you're undressed?" Yoongi eyes your bandaged feet, eyebrows drawn tight with worry.
"No," You whisper.
The toilet is only a few steps away from the shower but even just that feels like miles with a body so tired and battered. Still, you're willing to push yourself until you collapse if it means none of them will touch you like that.
"Just let me know if you need help, love," Yoongi sighs as he walks over to the door, facing it head-on like promised.
Getting undressed is a battle but it's one you refuse to lose. You keep your eyes locked on Yoongi's back as you pull off layer after layer, the steady steam rising in the bathroom only making your shivers worse. You refuse to strip down further than your underwear, the pieces offering you some modesty in a situation that just feels so mortifying.
You pull yourself up on your feet with a yelp, legs shaking with pain as you slowly hobble over to the shower. You're not sure how you manage to maneuver yourself down on the stool but you do, and the relief of warm water cascading down your frozen body is so great you can't hold back the sob that rips out of your throat.
Yoongi's back tenses as he hears the broken noise, his hands gripping the doorframe to keep himself in place. He never turns his head, choosing instead to rest it against the door, taking deep and measured breaths as he listens to your choked cries and whimpers.
The warmth slowly returning to your limbs is downright awful. The cold clinging to your skin refuses to bulge at first, and when it finally does slip, it feels like pins and needles being hammered into your flesh as the water rains down on you. The shivers slowly ebb away the longer you sit in the shower, your dry calves and feet prickling with the weird temperature difference.
You lose track of time as the heat gently returns to your body, face swollen and puffy as the last of your hopelessness trickles out through your eyes.
You're exhausted and everything hurts. It's like your mind and body has been fractured into a thousand pieces, all of them poking and pricking you no matter what muscle you flex or what direction your thoughts try to stray.
You just want to sleep, to forget, for a little while.
Yoongi straightens up as the water is turned off. His voice is hoarse, much like he's been crying himself when he asks, "Are you done, Y/n? Are you still cold?"
You take a deep, shaking breath, filling your lungs with as much bravery as you can muster. "'m done."
"Wrap yourself up in the towel by the shower, love. Let me know when you're covered, yeah? I'll open the door and grab the clothes Jungkook left for you."
You do as Yoongi asks, watching as he opens the door just enough to snatch the clothes waiting for him outside. He walks backward towards the shower, still somewhat respectful of your privacy as he leaves them on the toilet. "Take the time you need to get dressed. I'll wait by the door until you're ready."
Your mind is hazy and drifting as you attempt to dry yourself off, exhaustion weighing your lashes down. Slipping your wet underwear off under your towel in exchange for Jungkook's clothes isn't an easy feat, pain still flaring up your feet as you're forced to put pressure on them. Still, it's a small consolation that Yoongi doesn't attempt to help you until you raise your voice and say that you're done.
Yoongi sweeps you up into his arms before you can even blink, strong arms holding you close to his chest. He swallows hard as he glances down at you, voice unbearably soft as he says, "I really am sorry, Y/n."
He, much like Namjoon, knows he won't be getting an answer. Yoongi steps out of the bathroom with measured steps, making sure not to move you around too much. The cabin is dark and quiet as he carries you down the hallway, the others nowhere to be seen.
"It's been a long day for all of us," Yoongi mutters as if he senses your confusion.
Your fingers find Yoongi's shirt as he steps closer to your room, shock hitting you like a lightning bolt as you see the state of it. The door is broken off its hinges, halfway torn off the frame. The desk you pushed against it is flush with the wall and the rest of your room looks absolutely trashed. Furniture has been flipped over as if they were looking for you under it; your belongings scattered everywhere. The brute force they must have used to get into the room makes you realize just how badly this return, this punishment, could have gone for you.
The moment passes as Yoongi walks further down the hall, but the sick feeling in your stomach lingers.
He nudges one of the ajar doors with his foot, stepping into the room as it opens. The bedroom is bathed in soft light, the pillows on the bed fluffed and the covers already drawn aside. Yoongi carefully places you down on the mattress before he tucks you in, his expression troubled as he watches how you wince and grimace as you try to get comfortable.
"This is Seokjin hyung's room," Yoongi explains, "He'll be staying with you tonight. We ... we're going to be taking turns watching over you."
"Thank you for the introduction, Yoongi-chi," Seokjin's smile is a little strained as he enters the room, a glass of water clutched in his hand. He places it down on the table next to you, patting Yoongi's back before he takes a seat in the plush chair that faces the bed.
"You can go rest now."
"Alright," Yoongi nods. He meets your gaze for a split second, mumbling out a gentle goodnight before he turns on his heel and leaves.
Seokjin lets out a small sigh as the door clicks shut. "I should've given him a talking to for not drying your hair properly but I'm sure you're tired, angel. Damp hair must be the least of your worries right now, huh?" He shakes his head.
You pull the covers up to your chin, eyes alert despite how your lids keep attempting to fall shut every other second. There's not an ounce of trust for them in your body but it's so terribly difficult to stay awake when you want to do nothing but sleep.
"I'm sure you saw the state of your old room," Seokjin winces, "You'll be spending one night with each of us on rotation. You might not wish to have us so close all the time but you shattered the trust we had in you, Y/n."
He folds his hands in his lap with a frown, staring down at his slightly crooked fingers as he says, "You can use the bathroom alone as long as one of us is right outside of the door, but aside from that, we're going to have to watch your every step. We won't allow you to hurt yourself again. I'm sorry it had to come to this but, well, it was the best thing we could settle on."
You close your eyes to avoid the sad look Seokjin gives you, your chest constricting with fury. If they're trying to guilt trip you, it's not working. You can't believe they're trying to frame all of this as them simply looking out for you when in reality, they're robbing you of any agency you have.
As you take deep breaths to quell the anger bubbling in your stomach, you feel yourself growing heavier and heavier, your body sinking into the mattress below. You want to be angry, you want to fight, but what's the use? You won't get another chance at escaping the cabin and your own soul clings to the soulbond, refusing to let you weaken your connection to them.
You fist the sheets, sniffling as darkness begins to drag you under. If the universe wants you here, wants you to stay with them, maybe.. maybe it's time you give up and accept it.
You wake up, drowsy, to the sound of something clattering. It takes you a second to realize that it's coming from you – your teeth rattling in your mouth from the cold that has seeped into the room while you slept. Everything is dark aside from the pale moonlight shining through the window on the other side of the room, your breath fogging up the air in front of you as you breathe.
You gingerly flip over on your other side, pulling the sheets as tight to your body as they can go, but it doesn't help fend the cold off. It's no wonder this cabin is abandoned during most of the year, not if it's reliant on the fireplace in the common room to heat up the entire place.
After what feels like an eternity of shivering, you hear Seokjin's raspy voice calling out in the quiet room. "Angel? Are you cold?"
Fabric rustles as he shifts in the chair. You hold yourself as still as possible as footsteps pad across the wooden floors, Seokjin's darkened silhouette coming into view. He hesitates by the side of the bed for a second, just enough for your teeth to start clattering again before he makes up his mind and climbs in. The mattress dips as Seokjin's weight settles upon it, the man in front of you scooting down until he's facing you in the dark.
A rush of cold air hits your body as he raises the sheets to shimmy under them, an arm curling around your waist before you can even think to open your mouth. Seokjin presses himself flush against your body, mindful of your injuries as he tucks your face into his neck.
"I'm still upset with you, angel, and I know you're upset with me, but you need my body heat if you want to sleep."
Seokjin is very warm.
You inch closer without even meaning to, your sleepy brain desperate for the heat that radiates off him. Seokjin lets out a small gasp as your cold nose skims against his throat, his hand pressing between your shoulder blades to keep you close.
Sleep slowly begins to weigh down your eyelids again as you soak up Seokjin's warmth, your body relaxing so deeply it feels like your bones have been turned to mush. The last thing you remember is Seokjin nuzzling his face into your hair, lips pressing against it in a soft kiss that makes your heart flutter.
Perhaps, if you had been a little more awake, you would've realized it wasn't fear that made it skip a beat.

UNIVERSE 01: friendship.
A pendant sits on the palm of her hand.
It dangles in between his fingertips; tips colored by Kool-Aid, burning red. The music is a little too loud in the cramped room, where the strands of his bleached hair merge in between the black, original ones. Wonwoo sits neatly, though his image is copied out of one of those magazines that he reads over every once in a while when at his job at the mall.
Maybe, this is where her friend met the supposed old lady that taught him the future was written in one’s palm. He’s a man of science, though he masks it as not. Books and articles highlighted on his bookshelves, casted in dust as he reaches his twenty-five years of age and he realizes that, perhaps, in the midst and wits of time he never truly reached what he wanted. No scholarship. No travelling. Nothing other than sitting at his small apartment, dangling a necklace, hoping for a sign.
“What do you want to know?” Wonwoo always speaks like he has a secret, eyes squinted, voice a rumble of depth. His vision, however, is settled on the pendant that only moves the slightest, from side to side, venturing into the unknown of what it is supposed to tell her.
Life, on the other hand, is a little bit more secure for her. She didn’t imagine her life to be big, and hence, settling seemed nice. Three years into a relationship that started out in college; a college degree that also sits on her bookshelf, waiting for it to mean something than it actually is, and work. Work has been hectic, with coffee breaks towards the coffee shop in which Wonwoo works at with a scowl to his face and a purse of his lips.
“The unknown.” She jokes, hand trembling a bit as Wonwoo rests it on his thigh.
His eyes roll, the sclerotic becoming a bit apparent, before he returns his gaze to her. For Wonwoo, the world is serious; like the heat of the Americano she has each day, and the routine of making perfect coffee. “I’m being serious.”
“So am I,” She looks back at Wonwoo. This is the man that would nod at every single one of her words when battling her fear of speaking in public back in high school. Her friend. The reason as to why she gets to speak now in her corporate job for some fashion magazine. She knows him far too well, dances with his eyes and knows how to sit him down with simple syllables. “You don’t believe in any of this.”
“I’d like to grant myself the benefit of doubting my beliefs.” He explains. The nineties are far more technological, fitted for someone like him, with up-and-coming laptops and websites. He could have been so much more, but it feels these days like he’s losing himself to a trail of nothingness. “They haven’t exactly worked to my favor the past few years, so what do I lose by giving you an answer to something? Shit, maybe, I could get an answer, too.”
She grabs his hand, pendant digging to the skin of her palm, engraving the thunder that Wonwoo had bought on a convenience store nearby. It was probably on sale, too. “You don’t need answers, Wonwoo. What’s not lost should not be hunted down.”
His eyes soften. Mirrors in shades of brown, like a lake house that she could never escape. Here, listening to Backstreet Boys, trying to hide from the reality that they are not kids anymore, is the man she trusts the most. The one person she cherishes more than life itself. For, Wonwoo was there for her to lighten up her days, even when the exposure of sunshine would hurt him, too.
“…Let me just answer one question of yours.”
“What for, though—?”
“Just to prove to myself that I’m not the only one that doesn’t have it figured out.”
She sighs, opening her palm once again and closing her eyes tightly. She imagines all that has happened throughout the years of her living on this earth. She has a job that she likes. She has gone through college safely, thankfully. She has a relationship but…these days, it feels like he doesn’t foresee a future. Nick, her boyfriend of three years, goes on and on about his plans in the future, but it never includes her. A shush coming after his words when she ever-so asks…
Would you ever want to marry me?
“The first letter of the love of my life’s name.” She spurts out, knowing that the universe will be unable to ever grant her a benefit of knowing, let alone draw it on her palm with a pendant. Wonwoo doesn’t raise his eyebrows, never judging out loud, but speaking under his breath.
“Totally not the asshole you have for a boyfriend.”
“Wonwoo, have some respect and concentrate.”
“I’m just being honest.” He shrugs, sending a tight-lipped smile her way before he’s tracing her palm with the pendant and letting it hang. The woman at his job told him that it would trace two answers; a circle was a yes, a line was a no, and what she was asking…they’d see if it could get answered.
Much to his surprise, they hold their breaths, looking at the pendant before it starts moving. Almost like magic, like the world has things that we will never understand to its full complexity, the necklace starts moving its pendant until it draws a shape. Repetitive not, perhaps a little bit two quick, but the two folds of the ‘W’ are apparent. Her eyes trail forward, widened in complexion, before laughter spurts out of her lips.
“This shit is crazy.” Wonwoo’s cheeks are tinged pink, standing up and clasping the necklace in between his digits.
“Totally. Uh, where the hell did you even learn this?”
“Remind me to never trust people from work again.” Wonwoo’s back is turned towards her, saving the necklace on the coffee table, and she thinks about it for a moment…
Wonwoo and her together…
Pfft, as if that could ever happen.
“Noted. This will never happen again—”
“Yep. Want to get some burritos?”
“Thought you’d never ask.”
The nineties had their own tagline, but ruining a friendship because of some stupid myth as the ear of technology was launching was totally not it.
###
UNIVERSE 02: opposites.
Wonwoo has always had an odd liking to coffee.
He presumptuously admits that he enjoys the taste on the roof of his mouth, and how it burns his palate and awakens him in the early mornings. Macchiato. Latte. Cold or hot. He enjoys them all. Hidden behind of strands of long hair, curled at the edges, and a pair of glasses so thick that they might as well hold all the eyes in the universe, he thinks it’s his own language. His way of speaking without actually opening his mouth. He grants happiness with a ‘good morning’ and a nod of his head, even though his coffee shop is not as big or as crowded as his family back home thinks.
A sigh leaves his lips, wiping the same spot he has worked on since the early morning. Only a client had passed by. A latte, decaffeinated, with two shots of vanilla and one of dark, moody chocolate. The busy man left without much of a glance at him, but the job was done. Hence, the day was uneventful, leaving him with pastries to sell and coffees to prepare. Aching to feel that this business is going somewhere.
He painted the walls green himself, thinking they’d match well with the plants his brother had gifted him after he moved to Jeju with his wife and worked on a gardening program over December. The tables, found in a trip to Scotland, did cost a little bit more than what he likes to admit, but it’s gloomy. Wholesome, like he wants it to be. A place that resembles the peace that comes with having a cup of coffee on a winter day.
It's summer.
Maybe, people just don’t want hot beverages.
The repetition of one of the first albums from The Beatles is cut off by the sound of a megaphone. Sharp and repetitive sentences shouted into the void of the street. People start to gather in front of his shop, but it’s not because of the coffee beans he brews every morning. There is someone else there—one of those hippies that he tries to stay away from.
Wonwoo pushes his hair away from his face, not even making the effort to clasp his beige apron off as he ventures to the entrance door and opens it with a swing. Standing on a small beer box is a woman; sporting a long floral skirt and a simple top that dangles off one shoulder. It reads ‘fuck politicians!’, loud and clear, like the sound of her voice as she asks for rights.
Rights to have some kind of reelection, for she thinks the government is corrupt.
“We are fucking marionettes to the politicians. Workers that will lose their nails clawing to get to the last bit of money they offer us. Not enough for us to eat and live freely—” She speaks into the megaphone, and he notices the soft hue of her lips and the crookedness of her hair. She’s not playing the part, but somehow, she looks quite beautiful in her messiness.
“Excuse me.” Wonwoo speaks softly, as per usual.
“Us women, we need to stay close, to protect the children of our lives. The people that need us the most. We are tired of staying silent—”
Though, she’s silencing him in the process. If this protest gets any heavier, he could even get jailed just because she wants to speak out…in front of a coffee shop. “Um, miss, excuse me, I have something to say—”
“Say it with me: ‘We shall not be silenced’!”
“Miss!” Just when she gives a moment for the crowd to speak, Wonwoo’s voice becomes loud. A shout into nothingness that brings color to his cheeks and a set of widened eyes that anyone could miss if they don’t look at him from up-close. She turns to him, still on that beer box, the wind blowing at her skirt and tracing the soft curves of her body. “This is my coffee shop…and—and I fear my clients would be scared of entering if they saw this protest in front of it. Could you please—?”
“What?” She questions, putting the megaphone down and raising her eyebrows. “This is something important.”
“Yeah! Totally. I know.” Wonwoo, though not a fan of politics, can understand that the economics are not the best these days. Hell, he fears that he will lose the business that he had worked so hard on. “How about this…I know that you planned this protest and that—”
“Just leave the fucking woman alone!” One of the protesters grits through his teeth, the others bursting in exclamations just like him.
“Yeah, fucking capitalist!”
“I could offer all of you coffee! And a place to talk. You buy me a cup, I let you have this whole…ordeal inside.” Wonwoo tries to smile, covered by the strands of his hair, but the wind whisks it away and she gets a good glimpse at him. The frown in between her eyebrows softens, mouth agape for a second before she brings the megaphone up to her lips again.
“We’re going inside! A small business needs us, everybody. We’re not getting out of this mess if we don’t make a change.”
Her hand lays on his shoulder, getting off the box and sending him a smile that blossoms one of his own on his face. It’s crazy how the world has millions of people, each more different than the last one, but there are still connections. Electricity that pulls two people together even with a mere touch, as he realizes just how gorgeous she is.
And so unlike him.
Such an impossibility.
He prepares her favorite coffee then. Sweeter than anything, with marshmallows on top, a caramel Macchiato that keeps her fed along with the guava pastry that she dared try. Speaking her mind away, he only sits and listens, knowing that this is the last time he’ll ever see her.
###
UNIVERSE 03: right person, wrong time.
He looks like the image of what his mother used to coo about every Christmas night when the eggnog got to her system.
Not a man of marriage, he used to say he was, when he was just fifteen years old and promising he could pull through with a relationship. At the time, his now bride-to-be Fae was the third wheel of the trio. The woman that would wipe her tears when everything got to be a little bit too much with him, and that would clasp Wonwoo’s hands in between her own and teach him how to be a better boyfriend. How to leave the faux interests of bad friends behind to build something beautiful.
That they built in just a few months of relationship, tainted and left as lukewarm friendship, got destroyed in just three months.
She’d dare say, however, as she lets the emerald green of her bridesmaid’s dress cascade down her back, knowing fairly well that the fabric fits her a little too snugly because she decided to bathe her stomach with alcohol just hours prior to this, that…Wonwoo was her first love. She had never loved as purely, harshly and truly. With rain falling down on them as they both cried their goodbyes, eager to make it work, but regretting forcing their friendship to be something more.
Now, he’s marrying Fae. They didn’t get together soon after they broke up. It took years, pulling away, falling apart as a trio, coming back together and Wonwoo and Fae being roommates during their senior year of law school for them to get in a relationship.
Though, the word has it that when a man is totally certain about a woman, things will fall into place quickly. He looked at Fae in the eyes quite like he does now, as she stands behind her. Fae has her soft peachy hair curled and tied at the top of her rounded face, lips opened in that heart-curling smile that shows all her teeth, imperfect and yet, so fucking gorgeous. She looks like she was taken out of a fairytale, glowing…and she should be happy with her friend.
Fuck, she is.
God, imagine how difficult it would be to explain to Heaven when she tried to knock on its doors at the end of her life that she was happy…but also a bit jealous that this wasn’t her.
Because once, when she was a teen, she thought she would be in this position. Standing in front of Wonwoo, eager to place her hands on his arms, tug him closer and press their lips together. Call it forever, because it sounds like it could be possible with him. And these are thoughts not to be having when at the altar with her two best friends, as his eyes get filled with tears when looking at Fae.
She wishes it was her.
Wonwoo does look her way at one moment, departing from his vision towards Fae and it’s almost like his shoulders fall. She knows, then, that he remembers the possibilities—what they once talked about when seated on the front-yard of his old house, through small pecks and giggles. They once said that they were ‘ride-or-die’, only to ride along the adventure that they tried.
She gives him a tight-lipped smile, raising the corners of her mouth, as if telling him that they have made it. The ‘happy-ever-after’ reached in different spectrums. Wonwoo smiles back, tracing the outline of his engagement ring, the one that will meet the new ring that will create, hopefully, a lifetime of happiness.
Not with her.
Of course, not with her.
And that doesn’t haunt her. It’s something that she wishes she could have told herself in the past, so she would have never placed herself in Wonwoo’s life that way, making his relationship with Fae easier and more factual from the beginning. However, now that she’s here, it brings nostalgia.
They were once kids, now he’s getting married.
There’s a baby waiting for him in Fae’s womb, that not many people in this church know about. If any, really.
That’s the magic of moving on, but at the same time, wondering why it wasn’t like how they wished for as kids.
She nods at him, mouthing the words: “I’m proud of you.” in hopes that he can read her lips. Wonwoo, excelling at everything he does, manages to do so, nodding back at her before returning his gaze towards his wife.
Then, comes the exchange of words. His deep vibrato promises to cherish Fae forever, and she believes him. Maybe, she doesn’t have anyone by her side, or a man that can compare to the quality of people that Wonwoo is, but the time will come. For now, she’s the tree that shadows over the couple, sheltering from the eyes of the judging as they kiss, after letting out into the world what they wish for each other. Enormous contentedness, for example.
She claps, hands coming together as if praying that they will get to live up to their words. Plenty of years that will come and would have happened to her if Wonwoo was truly her person. Or maybe, he is, because this buzzing excitement that builds like makeup within her chest, coating her heart in layers and layers to hide what truly lays underneath is…an indicative.
Wonwoo is not a person that she got rid off easily. If not, they wouldn’t be friends by now.
Cheers escape her lips, fists balled and raised high in the air for the new couple. At least, someone got to have a happy ending.
###
UNIVERSE 04: the unknown
“I wish I had your eyes.”
Wonwoo says so with simplicity, his nephew—or more like his brother’s grandson—looking up from the handwritten letter that is taking up most of his time and headspace. He takes off on the family genes, with the dark hair, stoic eyes and cat-like smile. Though, the blush is different. In his eighty-six years of living, Wonwoo can’t recall the last time he actually blushed.
He sits back on his chair, creaking from how old it is, wood carving into the spine that had once functioned as leverage for running miles in the Olympics, but now is just a tale that people rarely believe from him. With that, he gets to cross one leg over the other and smile.
Love. Oh lord, love. How beautiful it is, and so inexplicably unreachable for him.
People say that everyone has fallen in love at least once in their lives, but for Wonwoo, it never felt quite right. Women were beautiful in their own spectrum of differences; he had liked a few, if he dares say so himself, with relationships growing and then, withering to the pressure of passing a few months together. But he had never met someone that had him feeling like he could keep going. A romance that could paralyze him to the bone and make him stay.
Now he doesn’t move much, but he doesn’t have anyone that accompanies him, perhaps with a memory, as he sits on this damn uncomfortable chair at six in the morning, downs his two shots of coffee and then, proceeds to read whatever book he finds in his beloved book collection. He wonders if the problem was him; if he couldn’t just quite make his expectations lower so someone could sit by his side.
He feels like his soulmate never came his way, either.
Minho crooks one of his slim legs over his hip, turning to look at the old man. “Paps, I am quite sure you have them. My dad can’t stop going on and on about the Jeon’s and how their eyes are the reason they got ladies on the first place—”
“Not that. Your dad’s an idiot.” Wonwoo excuses, laughing from within his belly and earning a smile from Minho, who plays with the button of his pen. “I am saying that you have a look in your eyes that I wish I had. How long have you been going out with this lady?”
“Almost three months.” Minho admits, running a hand through his dense hair. “…I mean, I’ve liked her for a bit longer, but paps, this is…like…you have to know how it is. I love this woman. I can’t imagine any other girl in my life.”
He can’t say that thought has crossed his head. It’s difficult to fathom just one person being enough for the rest of his life. He was a man of education, so it wasn’t like he was lurking for hook-ups…he just liked the science of relationships more. Why hunt when it always ended in a fall-out?
And he never really cared enough to keep going, either.
“I don’t know how that is. Maybe, that’s the goddamned problem.”
“How—? What?” Minho’s incredulous voice has him standing up, forgetting his letter to his girl to frown at Wonwoo as he points at him. “You’ve never been in love?”
“Never met anybody who could truly make me feel at ease.” Wonwoo announces, clearing his throat and rubbing at the long hairs on his chin. “…Because that’s what love is to me. I didn’t want a woman that I could go crazy with in the sheets. I needed a lady that…made me feel like I could be a better man, who pressured me to be better but still, made it seem like it was nothing. Like trying for her was just enough.”
“That’s crazy…” Minho mumbles, taking a seat next to Wonwoo. It’s horrid that he has to live in the same house as his brother’s family, just because walking gets harder by the day. “Do you believe in soulmates?”
“I do.” Wonwoo contemplates, nodding along to his words before sighing. “I believe there are people in this universe that we are just meant to find. But I never looked, you know? I stayed still. Hoped the great woman would just burst through the door and be…perfect. For her to be ready for me. For us.”
“That’s not how it works.” Minho says. “Love is action. Soulmates are action, too. You can find them, but if you never truly make an effort to develop and help grow, it’s not going anywhere.” Those words ring within him, youth bursting from his vocal cords, but nonexistent in the antiqueness of his vision. “Because destiny can only do so much. People can be perfect for each other, while being imperfect in their own ways.”
His nephew, or grandnephew, stops for a moment before smiling fully, like a vein in his chest had popped and liberated him.
“If we learn to forgive, we learn to love.” He finalizes, pressing a hand to Wonwoo’s knee and patting it. Those words settle within him; regret basking upon the old man’s figure. Of having so much and yet, having lived so little. With that, the guy raises one eyebrow in questioning. “Would you like to read what I’m writing? I want to give it to her for our four-month anniversary.”
“Technically not an anniversary.” Wonwoo adds the obvious, only to have Minho laughing.
“And right and there, paps, is why you’re still single at this age and time.” He still doesn’t listen to Wonwoo’s grumpy ways, or the grumble that he lets out. Minho sits by his side, the bubblegum pink paper making Wonwoo cackle. “So, I started it off by spraying perfume on it.”
“Of course, you did.” Wonwoo rolls his eyes.
“Oh, just so the lady never forgets me.”
“…And there goes, some of your dad’s genes popping out.”
“Paps, don’t be so grumpy.”
“Sorry, that’s what old single men are like.”
“Well, old man, let me show you what real love sounds like.”
###
UNIVERSE 05: we were just kids.
Bones chilled, crippling under the weight of small tremors, Wonwoo doubts this is the harshest rain the city has met. Not that he would know; he’s only been living for eight years in this wholesome world, but he knows for a fact that he could climb mountains with storms that could break the sky itself and he’d make it, just to meet his crush by the swings that near his home.
She’s his neighbor of sorts. His cousin studies with him, just one year older than him, and he ignores the kind of beauty he holds. The headbands that cling to her hair and tangle it even more. The gloss of her lips that may come from the donuts he always steals from his dad’s shelves just to give something to her. Her cheeks are rounded, like universes that he’d dare kiss if that wasn’t prohibited. Mom taught him that he shouldn’t get too close to girls, but she’s…gorgeous.
Intelligent.
She’s a storm waiting to unravel and he notices it when her hands splay under the rain, trapped underneath one of the picnic tables, waiting for the night not to eat them alive with the power of rain water. She may be made of sugar, like the sweetness of her words when she tells him that he’s the best student in his grade, that he knows things that even her, as his senior, has no idea about. That could be why she doesn’t get under the rain, afraid of it, cling to her own knees…
“Oh!” Wonwoo says his thoughts out loud. Of freaking course! Dad always lent his jacket to Mom when the weather got a bit cold. Though, he’s not a businessman. He doesn’t have a jacket around waiting to wrap around her arms. Instead, he stretches the sleeves of his yellow sweater, placing the tips on her ears and mumbling. “You must be freezing.”
“Everywhere. Not just my ears.” She points out and thank God it has gotten late—though not really, he may hear an earful from his parents when he gets back home—. Or, they could come looking for them. For, both her family and his knew about their whereabouts. “You’ll ruin your sweater.”
“You’ll get sick.” Wonwoo points out the obvious, though he can’t help but give a toothy grin that is mostly braces. “…That could give us an excuse to come over to my place. My grandma always makes the best chicken soup. Dad says it heals the heart.”
She smiles at him, crooked, closing her eyes the slightest before returning her gaze to the sky. “I’m afraid we won’t make it home tonight. I don’t want to stay out from home.”
Then, she pauses, lowering her voice.
“I’m scared.”
He hadn’t noticed that while being under the rain with her seemed like the most romantic thing to do, it was also something that she didn’t want to do. Responsible, eager to wrap herself up in her mom’s arms as she had hot chocolate to ease the ache in her joints, that’s who she was. The stars become her north, though Wonwoo notices she’s studying the houses not too far, where the lights have started to take place one by one because of people turning them on at the dusk of dawn.
That’s the cue he needs for taking off his sweater, leaving him only in a white t-shirt with a dinosaur imprinted on it. Then, he’s placing the sweater on top of their heads.
“Wonwoo!” She screeches, covering her face with her palms. “What do you think you’re doing? You’ll get sick, too!”
“I am getting you home, that’s exactly what I’m doing!” His black hair sticks to his face, turning around with his sweater getting drenched while on top of him. He’s already out of their hideaway, nodding at her. “Get here! We need to run before we get entirely wet!”
“Jesus!” She adds, walking alongside him and wrapping an arm around his waist to keep the two of them under the sweater. Wonwoo would be lying if he said he didn’t feel his heart racing within his chest. “O—Okay. I’ll have my mom make you some hot choco in return.”
“Really?”
“O—Of course.” Teeth tittering, she gives him a smile when he looks down at her for a fraction of a second, running through the streets of their neighborhood, shoes ruined because of them splashing against the water-covered concrete. The tip of her nose glistens as if she had just cried, but she looks genuinely happy. “Wonwoo, you’re…the best boy I’ve ever met.”
They are only eight years old, but those words are enough to let Wonwoo know that he wants to be just as old as his parents are and cling to her hand just because he can, and because he wants to. He guides their scavenging, blushing, trembling, mumbling and tripping over his own words, perhaps even his shoelaces, because he is so young and yet, he knows this is love.
The romance his grandma always coos about in those books she reads as her dishes are finished.
The same love that his brother got scolded about just a few days prior for drawing hearts on his notebook.
The love that adults say they can’t find because they are too blind to the obvious. Only a heart that loves purely is able to hunt for romance. For, if love is viewed by a battlefield, it will only be a matter of time before the ticking bomb explodes and their territory is turned to ashes. He may not know a lot about life, or if they’ll last forever, but in his short years of living he knows he doesn’t want her anywhere but at his side, each and every afternoon, playing in that park near their neighborhood, swings with their names written in between doodles of hearts.
###
UNIVERSE 06: i promised i’d stay.
The first night of living with somebody should feel like the initiation of a construction work that only architects could battle with. It’s a promise of sorts; the trial and error that every relationship needs to go through, and she’s so certain about Wonwoo. Everything that he has established and shown to be in the year they have been together, but at the same time, lying next to him as the lull light of his reading lamp bathes over them, his eyes half-closing as he dives into a good read, feels like she could die at any minute.
Not because of him, but she just wants everything to go well.
It’s the fear of having people a few years from now telling her that they saw it from the get-go; that they wouldn’t work out in any way. It’s the irrational thought that pops in her head and tells her that, much like blogs and memes have emphasized, people are not to be trusted, for no one loves truly in this time and age. It’s the weight on her chest that tells her that he loves her, but she could have tried to put on something sexier instead of her usual cartoon pajamas.
She tries to fall asleep to no avail. People say that relationships no longer exist; we are just going from one person to the other, searching to be found. However, the thought of not having Wonwoo by her side and failing in this terrifies her. She is supposed to be the love of his life, the woman that he sighs about every single day and the mere reason why he has a smile on his face. She doesn’t ask for perfect, for they have had their arguments with tranquil conversations aiming to be respectful between the two, but she wants it to be him.
But what if it’s not him?
What if it’s him, but she’s not his ‘it’s her’?
Another turn on the bed.
Another tug of the sheets.
Another sigh.
Wonwoo closes his book softly, eyes closing the slightest before he turns to the side. That’s when he comes face to face with her, pulling the covers slightly over his chin before he connects his gaze to hers.
“I can hear the gears turning inside your head.” He whispers, licking his bottom lip and pressing a chaste kiss to her cheek before sighing. “What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing.” She lies through her teeth, afraid of what he may think in that moment of overthinking. Though, Wonwoo doesn’t eat it up, humming at her words.
“Are you sad?”
“Not precisely.”
“Are you angry?”
“Not precisely.” She repeats.
“Is it something I did?”
“Not precisely.” She confesses, hiding her face on his chest and feeling all the weight on her shoulders come out in a sigh. “It’s the fear of what you can do. Like leaving, stop loving me, hating me after moving in with me…wanting to go somewhere else, loving someone else—”
“That’s impossible.” Wonwoo says with a scoff, placing a hand on her face and pressing kisses to her cheeks repeatedly, each softer than the last one.
“Promise me it’s impossible.”
“I can swear.” Wonwoo announces, pulling away to kiss her lips. Her heart races and calms down at his motions at the same time; the paradoxical magic that he pulls with her. “Because I choose to love you every day, even when there are millions of people out there, and circumstances that can happen between us. I choose to go to bed every night with you because I was tired of thanking God and having to think you’re far away. I won’t hate you, because I want to make it work.” He stops for a second, rubbing at a tear that had glided down her eye. “I choose you here, now, tomorrow, forever. You’re the love of my life not because the universe put you on my road, but because I choose you.”
Sometimes, we get lost on ‘the one’. The one person that was made to perfection to fit exactly what we wanted. However, we shape the person we love within our thoughts to be the one that we wanted. It’s up to us to accept someone, or feel like they are the kind of person that we want by our sides forever. She thinks this way as she cuddles closer to his chest, intertwining their legs, imagining if it will feel as safe and beautiful as it does right now when they are eighty and he keeps reading a few chapters before going to bed.
After all, doubting Wonwoo comes in spurts that disappear when she recalls that she feels like she has known him forever. Here, in this lifetime and the many ones to come.
Maybe, in another universe, they are just as in love as they are right now.

It was a bitterly cold and snowy day. The frigid temperatures had been persistent for days, and there was no sign of relief in sight. December had just begun, but it already felt like an endless winter. While the snowflakes were beautiful as they fell to the ground, they brought a feeling of sadness and loneliness.
You loved the hot chocolates you would make for yourself in the small kitchen, you loved bundling up in a soft blanket on the sofa and watching anothe movie. You loved the seasonal Christmas themed ads that were blaring at this time of the year from every corner.
Yes, you loved Christmas, you stopped to remind yourself. Of course you did. Yet still, there was this deep nagging. A feeling of desire, that carried sadness.
'It's snowing like the world is about to end' you thought as you looked from the window that tightly sealed. There wasn't much to look at, even thought the afternoon was only just ending, through the strong snowstorm there was hardly anything visible.
You didn't watch the final race of the snowflakes for much longer. Standing up from your wooden floor you made your way to your apartment door - or more so tried to. Your pillows, blankets, old books and canvases were scattered all around so it proved to be bit of a challenge.
Your room was a mess, it has been like that for far too long. Old newspaper cutouts glued on the walls, posters, painting without frames hung up or just pushed in the corner of the room, where shadows hid them well. There wasn't enough space for them all. Books stacked up in tall chimneys, your phone somewhere burried in-between. You didn't bother to look for it too much.
Lacing up your boots, you took a last look in the mirror. As an omega it was always expected of you to look proper and taken cared of, even if it wasn't always the case. Your heavy jacket felt too heavy on your shoulders, but you knew that you would quite literally freeze to death otherwise. A white woolen scarf was tied around your neck, covering your face up to your nose. It felt comfortable against your cheeks and the scent was also pleasant, so even as it grew older, you still kept it and worn it every winter.
You grabbed your wallet, and pocketed your keys. The small bunny keychain dangled with the movement. It used to be white with few brown spots, but that wore of with the time too. Still, even if most of the colour was missing, you liked it.
With the lock clicking behind you, you started walking down the open hallway to the apartment building entrance. The rooms were only on one side, so it didn't take much time until the cold air swept you from the right. The layer of snow on the wooden railing has grown to over 10 centimetres, and that was only from this day, since it got swept pretty much every morning. The landlord was quite sweet, as allowing an omega a home when they were alone with no alpha or beta in sight wasn't too usual.
Hiding more into your jacket you quickened your pace, and after getting down the steps, you started the walk towards the pharmacy.
Snowflakes fell into your hair, as you made your way down the few streets and roads. Luckily, not many people were outside and so your smell wasn't noticed. It really wasn't too typical to see omegas walking on their own, basically anywhere. The society had strict standards that were followed since,- well, forever.
While some protested, it was just always for the better, anyone to see an omega that's completely alone, unmarked or at least scented was basically free to do anything they wished to.
It made you tremble just the slightest bit thinking about it, but you blamed it on the cold that surrounded you and shook it off. While you were on the outskirts of Seoul, it wasn't like you were constantly alone.
Yes, you reminded yourself once more. There were people around, like that nice looking lady down the street holding a hand of a little girl. She jumped and squeeled in the heavy snow, only to get lightly scolded by the beta for almost slipping in the forming ice. Pups were always the biggest priority, at least in every good pack.
As you walked further and further from your home, more stores appeared, lighting up the streets just enough for you to be more comfortable. The neon sings of restaurants, grocery shops, clothing boutiques and more were bright for your eyes, colourful and soon you started hearing bit more noise too. There were more cars passing by, people smoking cigarettes outside on the streets chatting together.
With the snow crunching underneath your feet you made your way to the mall closest to your apartment. You dusted of as much of the snow from yourself as possible, and walked inside. It felt a lot warmer immediately, but you didn't unzip your jacket too much. You knew your scent would carry too much and people would eventually notice, so you just continued on your way down the escalator, keeping to yourself with the crowd of people going downstairs with you.
Infront of you was another grocery store, that got you thinking about buying some food. The snowstorms often lasted a few days, and you doubted that it would be pleasant to walk here again tomorrow. You didn't have a lot home right now, as you avoided going until it was impossible. Plus the store here was a lot cheaper than the small shops closer to your apartment, that made a big profit from all the-
Your thoughts were interrupted by the loud sniffing behind you, something just lightly touching the back of your neck. Startled, you quickly turned, and nearly jumped from your skin. The man must have been in his forties, his eyes closed for a tiny second, before they opened and focused on your face. You averted your gaze, not wanting to seem like you wanted to start anything.
„What are you doing here alone like this?” his tone sounded concerned, but carried a weird undertone, that unsettled you even more. You felt chills run down your spine. You opened your mouth to answer, but your eyes could only widen more, as the last step lowered and you arrived at the floor. Stumbling, you regained your balance and nearly ran off in the way of the pharmacy.
Opening the door, a light bell sound chimed throughout the store, making few of the people in the queue turn to check the newcomer. Looking at your shoes, you shuffled to stand behind the last girl, her natural smell covered in a strong but very sweet perfume scent blockers. Growing up, in high schools, those were always popular for beta or even alphas to wear, to make themselves appear more approachable if their scent wasn't intriguing enough for their liking.
Such perfumes didn't work on omega scents, those were always naturally alluring and hard to cover. Scent blockers were then often used, but since you didn't go out a lot back in highschool, you hardly ever had to use them. You would, now being in college you were constantly around unknown people, so it would come with a nice benefit - sometimes all of the attention that came with being an omega wasn't nice at all. But those were expensive, and the even cheapest ones were bit too pricey for you. Plus the ones you ever tried always made you uncomfortable, and unsettled with how chemically they smelled.
The wet shoeprints with slight mud covered the tiled floors, as you patiently waited for your turn to receive your prescription. And so as the girl before you took the small bottle of medicine, thanked and made her way out again, you took the small paper from your wallet.
„Hi, what can I do for you?” asked the older man behind the counter. His hair was gray and his eyes seemed tired. With the winter season, there must be many people coming with bad colds.
„Hello,” you mumbled looking behind him at the shelves filled with medicaments, „I have a prescription of a medication from my doctor;” he leaned in closer to hear you better. Your voice was naturally just a bit too quiet. Placing the paper onto the sleek counter, you looked away as he nodded and opened it. Taking just a few seconds to read over its contents he bristled to the shelves, pulling out a brown bottle with a white cap.
„...Right here miss. I will just need you to sign a document, that states that your pack alpha is aware of this and agreed to your doctor decision.” smiling, his cheeks lifted as he took a paper from underneath the desk.
You blinked in a surprise, and felt your fingers start to slightly tremble. 'Since when was this a thing? You got your medicine just fine month or two ago, what --?'
„My pack alpha- I-”
He looked back at me after retrieving a pen with calm eyes.
„Yes miss, here... You just fill in your pack alpha's name, and your pack serial number, or if you can't remember the whole thing, you can just write your pack alpha's phone number, we can get in touch later and I will complete the form process with them. You don't have to worry about it at all.” Once again, the worker smiled brightly, seemingly trying to calm you down.
„I know the number is hard to remember, my daughters always forget it too.” lightly chuckling, you could smell just the lightest hint of calming pheromones in the air. Scrunching up the nose at the smell, your anxiety only risen.
If you won't get the medicine you will get in a lot of trouble, and miss even more college lessons, no, you can't miss anymore, and-
„umm- can.. can I just call them first? I'm not so sure-” your voice trembled just the slightest bit as you squeezed your fingers around the prescription. The man once again laughed and nodded his head.
„Of course you can! It's no issue. Just come back again with the prescription and we can go over this again miss.” Nodding slightly, stunned still, just turned on your heel and walked off, the ground slippery with the melted snow, making you almost slip a few times. You eyes clouded with tears and you sniffled loudly as you opened the pharmacy door. Defeated, you clutched your other hand in a tight grip, unsettled and confused. You could bet that your anxious scent was wafting off all over the place.
Your vision blurry, you started heading back towards the escalators, walking next to a shoe boutique and a barber shop, you reminded yourself of the way outside. Your plans were definitely different from this, and getting lost in a mall was also not included on the list so you tried your best way to walk where you remembered the right side entrance to be. With most of the people left by now, the 21nth hour was quickly approaching, and a many of trail scents left behind confused you even more.
More tears sprung up to your eyes, and your vision got even blurrier. Not having any scents to stick to, as the ones that were around when you walked to the pharmacy were exchanged for different ones, you were left in a sensory overload, not even noticing when a man bristly walked towards you.
„Hey.., hey, what's going on? What's wrong?” He bended to your eye level so you stood face to face. A white facemask was covering his face, so only his eye peeked through under his dark, long hair. A plain black newsboy cap matched with the long, thick coat that went bellow his bended knees. You looked away, just when your overwhelmed nose smelled that he was an alpha. A mixture of rain and a hint of levander that seemed to become more prominent every passing second. He was trying to calm you with his scent.
A small whimper broke out from your throat unwillingly. Your brain was just taking in bit too much for you to be able to process everything. Your scarf dampen with more tears falling onto it. The man hand quickly held your right arm, his other hand prying your fingers open, so you couldn't clutch your hands and accidently scratched yourself. He cooed at you and rubbed your arm while still holding your hand, squeezing just the smallest bit.
„...Hm? What is it?”
Looking up, you accidentally made eye contact, only to get yourself more stressed out. You were always taught to beware of any unknown people, especially alphas, and making an eye contact could be interpreted as a 'sure, let's get it on'.
His concerned eyes shocked you enough to stay like that for a bit longer. They were a lot cat like, and his eyebrows were furrowed, but not in a threatening way, no, it was worry.
„I was- was at the phar-macy..” you mumbled only to sob loudly, and your shoulders to start to shake. You looked at his facemask, trying to focus anywhere but at the alpha's eyes. Noticing you doing so, in a quick motion he pulled the mask bellow his chin, only to reveal a soft looking nose and full lips, left open just the slightest bit in focus.
His tongue darted out to lick them fastly, and he shuffled a bit closer, so the levander scent was even more prominent. „At the pharmacy? Did someone tell you something bad there? Do you not have enough money for your medicine?” His voice felt calming, but held a feeling of urgency in it. He stood back up, only to look behind you towards the store you came from just about two minutes ago.
„N-No.. that's not - it... My prescrb- prescrt-” stumbling over the word you whined softly, angry with yourself. This was really not what you needed to happen right now.
„Prescription kitty. What's with it? Had it already expired?” once again he lowered himself back down, but didn't let go of your hand and arm even once. Softly rubbing his thumb over your hand, he once again cooed at you.
„Need pack al-pha...” you cried out softly and looked at the floors. Frowning even deeper, he let go of your arm and pulled out his phone from his pocket. His other hand just pulled you a little closer, so his scent was even clearer.
The man fumbled with it for a few seconds, pressed it to his ear and waited, as the faint sound of ringing could be heard. A soft beep sound and another strangers voice went through, not loud enough for you to decipher.
„hey, where are you?”
„No, listen, I need you to come to the lowest floor, um- there is a,” whipping his head around he looked at the stores around us, „hairdresser shop here and uhh.. a pharmacy too, look just can you hurry please?”
„Ill tell you here, it's an omega .... Jimin-ah are you a fucking idiot?! Who said anything about heat? Aish..! Just hurry up, could you?”
For a second his scent got covered with a burning grass, a smell of agitation. Just as quickly as it came it was gone thought. Pocketing his phone once again, he looked back at you.
„My packmate is going to come here in a bit okay?” his voice once again soft.
„P-Packmate?” your eyes blew wide, only for more tears to come. What did that mean? Was they about to do something? Your worried thoughts circled your mind.
„Yea, but don't worry, okay? He's very-”
„Yah, hyung, what is it? What's going on?” you heard another man, only to be hit with another alpha scent, reminding you of soft vanilla blooms. „Gosh her scent is sweet..” he said lowly, so you hardly understood what he was saying. Looking up, you were met with eyes of another man. This time, circled rimmed glasses and a black face mask pretty much covered his whole face, only a small bit of his black hair peeking through underneath his dark grey beanie. A long, dark green trenchcoat with a crossbody purse like bag adored his body, making his shoulders stand out.
„I don't know...”
„Whats your name 'mega?” the newcomer asked, bending slightly to match your height too.
„..Y/N” you said as you looked away again. All of the scents were confusing you, and you shuffled at your feet. You could sense your flight or fight instincts start to come in, with how long you have been unsettled.
„..okay. Okay.” he sighed out. „My name is Yoongi, and that's Jimin. Kitty, where is your pack? Why are you here alone like this?”
You took a longer pause, too overwhelmed to answer quickly. It must have been bit too long for them thought.
„Hyung-”
„I don't ha-ve a p-pack..” sniffling, you avoided their gaze, hiding more into the scarf.
„..Well shit.” Jimin muttered, exchanging anxious looks with Yoongi.

Soulmate! Anton⋆。𖦹°‧⊹₊ ⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soulmates work in the oddest way
• There isn't a set way to how you're supposed to find them or just know who is for you
• As far as you know, anyway
• Everyone else in your family either has the distinguishable mark on their body in the same place as their soulmate, or were given a time and place to be that suddenly appeared whenever the universe decided that they were ready
• You, on the other hand, had not even a single clue
• But you didn't mind
•You thought that it was kinda boring to just know who it is anyway
• Where was the adventure? The thrill of piecing it all together for yourself?
• Of course, there's always the problem that you get it wrong and have to try again but
• Whatever!!
• Right?
• As for Anton, he's been in shock ever since he was ten years old
• A rare soulmate story for some couples ends up being that one has known forever while the other had no idea
• In this case, it’s you having no idea.
•Anton, knowing, and being terrified to tell you for almost a decade
• It probably wouldn't have been such an issue if you two weren't best friends throughout your entire childhood
• He often doubted that you were his soulmate, only because you just seemed to show zero interest in him in t h a t way
• But you only did that to not be selfish
• You liked Anton. Actually, you loved him
• He was your closest friend and no matter what the situation was, your spirits were always bright and happy whenever you were with him
• You always heard that those kind of feelings were perpetual whenever you were with your soulmate, so you found yourself wondering if Anton could be yours
• But years have passed with no hint towards it being true, so you pushed the intruding thoughts away every time you saw him
• You were content with just being friends though
• And oddly content with not finding your soulmate if you were happy enough with the friendship and life you already had
• Which made Anton worry
• The simple solution would be to just tell you the truth
• Pros: you two are soulmates and live happily ever after
• Cons: the universe messed up and that turns out to be a big joke and it's his fault for messing things up
• Now, he knows that's elaborate, but still can't help but question why you've never asked him yet
• So here comes the help of Sohee, the "golden boy" of your trio, as you both like to say
• He always has the best advice and outlook for everyone around him, so what better thing to do than ask him about this?
• The only thing is is that he already can see that you two are meant for each other
• Neither of you had said a single thing about it, though. Not until Anton’s last thread of hope started to fray
• "So.. you've known for several years...”
• "Yes"
• “And you haven't said a single thing to them?"
• “Right"
• "Well why not?"
• "Because I don't know if they're my soulmate"
• “…”
• And Sohee just stares at him for a while before nodding his head and continued eating
• Because “how else am I supposed to help Anton if Anton won't believe first?”
• So, Sohee apologizes to the universe for interfering with the work of fate first before talking to you
• He hates seeing his friends in this position, especially if it's an issue regarding their entire life
•And he texts you randomly
• “You never talk about it, but I wanna know. Who do you have a crush on?"
• Getting the notification scares you because???
• Why would he suddenly ask you this?
• But you still reply,
• "We can't have crushes, remember?"
• In which he comes back with
• "We're only human. We have crushes, so who's yours?"
• Some time passes before you say anything, quickly becoming anxious
• You've never felt scared to talk about Anton before, so why now?
• "You can't tell Anton...”
• And you explain every bit and ounce of your feelings for him to Sohee, who is smiling so wide on the other end (as he screenshots every message and sends them to Anton in real time
• Who then proceeds to panic
• Even though it's confirmed that you definitely are his soulmate, he's scared that you'll be mad for not telling him sooner
• And also mad at the fact that Sohee told him after you asked him not to
• So the next time you see Anton, he looks almost queasy from how much he's holding in It worries you, so you just ask
• "Are you gonna be okay? You don't look well...”
• He stares back for a while, not really processing your question and almost tuning out the entire world to focus on what he had to tell you before it really made him sick
• He couldn't even hear himself when he told you, his mouth going on autopilot until he saw your reaction
• Not the reaction he was expecting though
• Seeing you smile so big and bright and then laughing at his change in expression from scared to confused still worried him, but in a different sense
• "God…..I've been waiting for you to tell me for so long!" You said, immediately going to hold both of his hands in yours
• And the shock that immediately ran through his body caused him to freeze before he could say anything to you
• The shock being that your reaction was positive after he already rehearsed your rejection
• "But…how did you already know?" he asks
• You laugh a little at how oblivious hes been all this time
• "I've always felt it. I just wanted to spare myself of embarrassment if it wasn't you and just boldly stated that it is. I should've known though...but you, on the other hand, have know this forever and still never said? Why?"
• He gets nervous again, thinking about how silly his reasoning was
• *I just didn't want it to make things awkward for us, you know?"
• You nod while smiling at him again
• "But fate makes it so that everything works in our favor. It was gonna happen sooner or later, and I guess later is now"
• Finally getting a smile out of Anton, he holds your hands tighter, swinging them a little, side to side, before asking his final question
• “I really do love you. Even before I knew we were soulmates, I liked you so much it was almost embarrassing..do you think that if fate didn't exist, we'd end up together still?"
• "I was already daydreaming about us being together before all of this happened, so of course” you tell him, making his expression brighter by the second
• "So now that it's official, we've gotta go tell Sohee thank you" he said, standing up and holding just one of you hands now to lead the way
• "..he sent you my confessions, didn't he?"
• "Let's not worry about that until another time"

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was at times like these that you wished you could punch your best friend. Wooyoung was sweet, but you swear he had it out for you, sending you out on a blind date with nothing but a first name. Now you were standing at the planetarium entrance like an idiot waiting for someone you didn't even know.
Wooyoung had pesterd you for three weeks until you finally gave in. He kept trying to set you up with one of his classmates, and you were too tired to register what you were agreeing to. "Come on [Name], you can't keep being hung up on some mystery guy from your dreams. San, on the other hand is perfect, broad shoulders, an astrology major, rich, handsome face, smooth voice and he's kind" Wooyoung rambled on as you were sitting in your dorm, trying to finish the economics paper you had that was due on Friday.
"Do you want me to go out with this guy, or do you want to do so yourself?" You asked him, only receiving a pillow to your face as a response. Sighing, you looked at Wooyoung, who was taking up your entire bed. "If I go on this date, would you let me finish my paper in silence?"
Wooyoung immediately jumped up from the bed. "YES, OKAY YAY!I'm gonna go tell San you agreed! Oh! This is gonna be so much fun! SATURDAY 1PM SHARP, " Wooyoung shouted while jumping around before sharply turning on his heel to sprint out of the room, leaving with a shout of "WEAR THOSE CUTE JEANS I BOUGHT YOU!"
You only sighed, turning back to your paper and relishing in the silence.
You did, in fact, end up wearing the jeans he bought you, black baggy jeans with white stars splattered on them, matched with your red converse, and a red hoodie.
You did not want to be here, it was cold, people were staring (probably because of the scar on your face, a voice in your head told you, you ignored it) and you were craving a strawberry refresher. You guess arriving an hour early wasn't the best course of action, but you were up early, not being able to sleep the night before.
Dreams of your faceless lover had once again plagued your mind. It had been a common occurrence ever since you turned 10. You would be cuddled up in the arms of a man you could not remember, but you knew him. In a soft grass field he would be holding you tightly, you would both be watching the stars, you listening as he points out different constellations, these dreams were safe, they made you feel at ease.
But all too often, these dreams would evolve into nightmares, the same 7 scenes playing out. Your therapist had said it must have been a physiological way to deal with your own insecurities. The birthmarks that littered your skin had always looked like scars. You remember talking to her when you were 12. She said it was your brain trying to justify the marks, trying to create a story for them.
You believed her. After all, she knew better, but these dreams just felt so real, so vivid. You would hear your own heartbeat slow down and hear the cries of your mystery lover as he holds onto you. You could feel the tears dripping from his face onto yours. No matter what turn these nightmares had, they always ended with you dying in his arms.
You guess Wooyoung had been right in his concern, as your best friend he knew first hand the effect these dreams had on you. The nights you wake up gasping for air, vomiting out your dinner, clawing at your neck because something in your throat is burning. The times you're awake while your consciousness is still trapped in whatever nightmare you were experiencing. He had been there since the age of 10, he had been there.
You rubbed together the two sleeves of your hoodie, starting to feel more uncomfortable as time passed by. People were walking past, laughing, and giggling at one another. You wondered what was so funny, what were they all laughing at? Were they laughing at you? no, you didn't do anything funny, did you? oh, it's your face, right? Your face is funny, it's ugly, creepy, the scar covering your eye, one you did not deserve. A mutated freak born with scars that were not earned a fake, a- "[Name]?" A hand on your shoulder disrupts your anxiety fueled thoughts.
You turn around to find a black haired man, he's a little shorter than you, although his shoulders are broad. Jawline sharp, eyes as soft as a warm blanket on a winter's night, despite the intimidating structure of the man, his eyes, his smile, his dimples, he seems inviting, familiar almost.
He stands smiling at you, the arm he used to grab your attention is hovering awkwardly in the air, his cheeks are flushed, a pink matching one of the familiar drinks in his hand. "Umm, I'm San? your date. " he seems unsure of himself, but you find it cute, having to suppress a giggle so as to not make him feel bad.
You give him a small smile as you mentally thank Wooyoung for choosing someone good looking,"Nice to meet you, San." You nod your head at him as you shift your weight between your feet. You're being so awkward right now, but something tells you that San doesn't mind.
Despite your lack of social skills, the interaction itself does not seem awkward. Although you can feel something straining it, you brush it off to first date jitters. "Oh!um I also got us some drinks, Wooyoung said you liked strawberry refreshes, although I don't know if he was messing with me. He has a tendency to do that lately, but um drink?" San asks as he lifts up the hand, holding two drinks questioningly. His shoulders seem to tense as he awaits your reaction.
"Woo didn't lie, I do like Strawberry refreshers, thank you" you nod your head at him, his shoulders relax as he lets out a breath of relief, he picks up the pink drink from the holder in his hand and gives it to you. Your fingers touch for a moment as you take the drink from him and you jump back a little, San doesn't seem all that surprised, but he chuckles "Static electricity's a bitch, huh?"
You don't think that's how it works, but you laugh along nonetheless. It's weird as you walk with San into the planetarium. You don't like new people, don't feel comfortable around them, yet with San, it's different. You feel safe with him. He feels so familiar.
You spend the day following San around the planetarium, he excitedly points out constellations, and you swear the fake stars above your head shine dimmer than the light in Sans eyes. Somewhere along the line, your hand had been intertwined with his, as a precaution to not lose one another, you told yourself.
The date ends when the sky outside matches the one in the planetarium, a dark purple background with little specks of light twinkling above you both. The date lasted the whole day and you were having so much fun you didn't even realize, Wooyoungs gonna kill you for not telling him how everything went immediately but you can't find it in yourself to care about the headache your best friend will inevitably give you tomorrow morning.
That night, you sit on your bed, smiling down at the goodnight text from San, despite him having wished you a goodnight merely a few hours before when he walked you to your dorm. That night is the first night you sleep peacefully, no dreams of your mystery lover, no dieing, no waking up in a cold sweat despite it being winter. Nothing
Instead that night you sleep, cuddled up with the tiny red star plushie that San won for you at one of the planetarium games, you named her 'astéri' the greek word for star. Also, the exact name you put as your contact for the man who won her for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your relationship with San had been a fast development, one date, then two, then you start eating lunch together, he starts walking you to classes, he joins your friends and you on movie nights, he plays games with Yunho. San becomes a part of your life faster than you can imagine, and you don't even care.
It's on your hundred day anniversary, a hundred days of dates and hangouts, and obviously being together despite no official title, that San officially asks you to be his boyfriend.
It's an emotional ordeal. He made a picnic in his backyard, creating a fort where you could both lay down and watch the stars on the soft grass. It's summer now, much hotter than when you first met, you wear a red tank top. San has expressed his love for your collarbones before, and thinking back to the moment makes you blush.
He was a bit tipsy when he blurted it out, face flushed pink given the alcohol of the drinking game he had played with your friends earlier, the room was hot, filled with college boys and liquor, so of course you took off your jacket, San had started cheering, then giggling, talking about how much he liked your neck, your collarbones. You don't know if he remembers this moment, you hope he doesn't, it would save you the embarrassment.
San presents you with a necklace on the night of his confession, a black leather strap threaded through a red star that's rimmed with silver. On the back of the necklace, the name 'astéri' is carved, under it lies numbers which look like coordinates. You don't ask.
San slips the necklace around your neck, fingers trailing dangerously slow along your shoulders. You were scared at first, you liked San, loved him, as much as you trusted him, you were scared of what his reaction would be.
He may have seen you in strappy clothing before, but he's never seen the extent to which your birthmarks your scars cover your body. The worst of them were located on your waist.
Despite your hesitance, the way San looks at you after you agree to be his, after you agree to let him be yours, it makes you want to kiss him, let him embrace every part of you and let you do the same to him.
He looks at you like you yourself were the star and who were you to deny a mortal access to a celestial entity?
That night, you learn the true extent of San's love for you, the way he trails his fingers overy every inch of your skin, extra soft kisses placed on the marks littering your body, he's gentle almost as if he knows the phantom pains they bring you, despite you never having told him.
That night you and San become, you and San, under the stars. On the soft blanket he laid out in his backyard as the warm wind of summer nips at your exposed skin.
It's when you're lying down, breathless, in between San's arms that he starts talking, answering your question from earlier that night. The numbers on the back of the necklace, the coordinates, are of a star San bought in your name. He literally bought you a star and named it 'astéri'.
"You deserve the whole galaxy, and yet I do not have the power to retrieve it for you. This way, you can have a piece of the outer world, and it can have a piece of you"
You don't think you've ever felt so loved in your life. You had fallen for San so quickly, so hard. It's hard to imagine a time when he wasn't in your life, despite the fact that you hadn't known him long, everything with him just felt so right.
You were sure you were meant to be with San in every lifetime, meant to spend every moment of your life with him. When you told him this, it had been the first time you ever saw him cry, genuinely cry. It was as if your words affected him more than you knew. You're sure they did.
That's one thing you never did understand about San, he has told you everything about himself, but you still felt as if something was missing, a piece of information locked away, it was like he was guarding it, scared you would find out. He thought he hid it well, but you prided yourself on knowing people, knowing your boyfriend. You trusted him. He would tell you when he was ready.
You and San would watch the stars burn out together, watch the world fall in each others arms, protected by a love so pure that the only thing left in the universe would be you and San

The sound of our tied souls
Tumblr media
Genre: soulmate!au, rockstar!au, kinda enemies-to-lovers but not really, a bit of angst, fluff, happy ending
Word count: 3.3k
Pairing: rockstar!San x fem!reader (feat. reader's best friend x Mingi)
Warnings: swear words (quite a lot), time-skip, kind of a bad guy attitude—San's a bit of a jerk at the beginning but he has a character development :), soulmate rejection, mentions of some jealous fans, kinda slow-burn, one kiss, possible grammar mistakes
A/N: this oneshot is part of @sungbeam's soulmate collab, which i was so proud to be part of; thanks for the opportunity, love 🤍
Tumblr media
You got woken up by that annoying song again, your beauty sleep being thrown away for the rest of the night—cause it seemed like your soulmate had no sleeping schedule. You couldn't understand how he could listen to this all the time, you often wondered if his hearing was still intact—cause the loud growl of what seemed to be an electric guitar could surely manage to make you deaf by now.
You have first discovered your soulmate bond after your 16th birthday, when you began hearing rock music everyday. Everyone was talking about how sweet their marks were: a tattoo with the letter of their significant other's name, a highlight in their hair matching their future partner's color, and the list could go on. You, on the other hand, had to struggle with listening to something you absolutely despised, without thinking that your soulmate returned the same feeling to your music choice. With a mischievous smile on your face, you made your way to your piano, starting to play one of your favorite songs. God, if only you knew how frustrated your soulmate got.
"San, you messed up again! Can you fucking focus?" Hongjoong, the leader of their group, Guerrillas, shouted, watching as the culprit lowered his head.
"I can't, Joong. I can't, because all I hear right now is Für Elise, and it messes my head up!" he shouted too, pulling his hair back in frustration.
The others looked at each other with confused looks; was there something they didn't know? Without actually meaning to, Mingi bursted into laughter, leading Wooyoung to chuckle as well.
"Since when do you listen to classical music?" he asked San, smirking playfully.
"I don't. That thing you call soulmate does."
"You're hearing what your soulmate listens to?!" Wooyoung exclaimed, covering his mouth in shock.
"Yeah. But you know I'm not into this shit of yours, so let's get back to practice. I'll try and focus." he simply said, taking his guitar again, the strap attached to it hugging his torso perfectly.
Seonghwa shrugged and signaled the others to start playing, their practice session blooming once again. You could swear that he'd never played music that loud before; it felt like a competition between the two of you, and you smiled at the thought of having him so frustrated. You didn't know who he was nor how he looked, but you were ready to make his life a living hell, as much as he had started to turn yours into one.
At one point, the music stopped and you managed to sleep a bit, but it was way too little for your liking. You woke up at the sound of your doorbell, your best friend standing behind the wooden door.
"You won't believe what my boyfriend got me!" she said as soon as you opened the door, barging into your house like it was her own.
"Do I wanna know?" you sighed, thinking that your best friend's excitement meant chaos.
"He got me two tickets at his band's concert! We're gonna see the Guerrillas!" she jumped, pulling the two golden-like tickets from her pocket.
She and Mingi—her soulmate, met a while ago, and since then, she was always talking about him and how much their music grew on her. She must have been so happy now, that her world had finally earned its colors. Her and Mingi's soulmate mark consisted of seeing the world in black and white, until the two of them met. You still remembered how fast they agreed on becoming a couple, and you still wondered how they made it work so well. You knew how proud she was of her boyfriend, mainly because it was the third time she was trying to convince you to go with her, thinking that it would be, somehow, her lucky chance.
"There's no way I'm going to a rock concert." you protested, crossing your arms.
"There's no way I'll leave you alone until you say yes." she smirked, shoving one of the tickets in your jacket.
Nice try, you thought, before taking a moment to actually read the information on the ticket. How bad could it be, after all? Maybe, in this way, you could find more about your soulmate's favorite genre of music. You also thought it was maybe an occasion to meet Mingi's friends; you knew he was in the college's rock band, though you've never met them in this formula.
"Fine. I'm only doing it for Mingi's effort to get you these." you said coldly, side-eyeing your friend when she gave you a bear hug; it was gonna be a long week.
While the two were already making plans for the big day, the boys took a break from their intense practice session, starting to talk about whatever traveled their mind while drinking a can of energy drink. San was absent from their conversation, fidgeting with his calloused fingers, the effort of always trying to hit the right strings showing. The thought of having a soulmate was really burdening him, he didn't want to spend his energy searching for someone he didn't even want to meet. Little San would probably be disappointed, because all he has ever wished for was to grow up and meet his other half. Arts student San, though? He didn't need anything else as long as he had his guitar by his side; a capo and some sheet music could easily solve his problems. But he couldn't stand the thought of someone constantly hearing the feelings he tried expressing through music; it made him feel vulnerable, like he had no personal space anymore.
"San, do you agree with the outfits we've decided on?" Jongho asked, looking curiously at the way too quiet boy.
"Huh… yeah, sure, sounds great." he replied, avoiding the way Yunho raised his eyebrow at his reply.
"You didn't pay attention," he sighed, before adding some other words: "Something's definitely bothering you, so talk to us."
"Is it because of your soulmate? Why don't you just search for her?" Wooyoung asked, feeling the way the elder tensed. "It should stop after you meet, right?"
"Meeting her means that I have to be committed, and I don't want to commit to her." he spat, putting emphasis on not wanting to do so, and without bothering to spare his friends the slightest glance, he just took his things and left them speechless, in the middle of the studio.
Tumblr media
The week passed fastly, the not-so-wanted (by a certain someone, 'cause the whole college actually went crazy for it) concert finally coming to life. The boys were backstage, trying to memorize their lines or chords for the last time. You and your friend would be late though; because she couldn't let you wear the clothes you would usually wear.
"I can't believe you want to wear a coat to a rock concert," she sighed, slightly amused by your antics. "They cover songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Sweet Child O' Mine and more, and they will most likely sing their own songs as well. This isn't Antonio Vivanti."
You let out an offended scoff, grabbing the leather jacket she was trying to put on you and wearing it, despite the ick the weird material was giving you. "And it's Vivaldi, by the way. Pay respect!"
"Yeah, yeah. C'mon, or else we will be late!"
Luckily for her (‘cause you tried to lose as much time as you could), you arrived just when they settled on stage, greeting the ones who came to see them. You couldn't say you weren't a bit jealous whenever you saw the way her and Mingi looked at each other—because it did something to you. But you were scared of being rejected, pretty sure that the soulmate thing wasn't as easy as it seemed.
Your thoughts were brushed off by the loud sound made by the mix of instruments, making you flinch, to your friend's amusement. Not being able to sneak outside because of her hand constantly holding yours, you decided that the least you could do was to pretend you were enjoying it. The others seemed to have fun too, even the boys, who really owned the stage—until something stole the show. San was taken aback by the way his in-ears worked—or so he thought. The same song they were performing was playing in a faded but bothering way in his ears, making him look at the others with a questionable look. He then made a few gestures to the staff, waiting for the song to stop so he could go and see what was wrong. Hongjoong looked at him worriedly while still focused on his bass, meanwhile Mingi almost messed up while playing the drums.
"We will be back in a few minutes, wait for us, okay?" Jongho screamed, hoping to keep the audience busy for a bit, while the others went to see what was wrong with San; their mics weren't off, though.
"There's nothing wrong with your in-ears, San. They work perfectly," the staff informed him, a few curse words leaving his mouth.
"What if your soulmate is at the concert, San?" Yeosang asked innocently, almost like a joke—though the younger boy freezed in his place.
The audience went crazy; some fangirls gasped and started to whisper several things about San's potential soulmate, meanwhile some of them had the same reaction as San. Some of them even started to run, looking suspiciously at every single girl they saw. "San has a soulmate?", "God, what did she do in her past life?", and so many other phrases that made you scoff. Who was this San and why was he so popular? The influence of his jealous fans spreaded through the whole venue, making the staff finally notice their mics and turn them off, though it was too late—the fuss was already created.
"I don't think that's the case—" Seonghwa tried to protest, but San stopped him.
"I think that's exactly the case." San looked at them, before throwing his in-ears somewhere. "What should we do now? I don't want to perform anymore."
"Then… let's wrap it up." Hongjoong sighed, before going back on stage. "Due to some unfortunate events, we need to stop here, darlings. Don't worry, we will come back soon!" He bowed and left the stage, leaving the fans high and dry. In other circumstances, nothing could have made him leave the stage that easily; he would have found a solution. But seeing how messed up his friend was, it made him want to try and understand him, he was going through a quite special phase, after all.
"I will go ask Mingi about what happened, do you want to come?" your friend asked, though your answer didn't even matter, she was already dragging you after her.
She greeted her boyfriend and the others as if they knew each other since forever, asking them about what was wrong.
"San hears whatever his soulmate is listening too, and he has only told us a few days ago," Mingi said, wrapping an arm around the girl's waist.
Your eyes widened at what he said, but you decided to keep composure—maybe it was just a coincidence.
"And she is into classical music, it's so frustrating. Why would she come to our concert?" San snapped, ignoring the guest his friend's soulmate brought.
It all made sense to you then. You probably didn't realize the music coming from him because you tried to enjoy the new experience, but it made sense. The two-tone haired boy, the arrogant San everyone was talking about was standing in front of you—moreover, he was your soulmate; and he didn't seem too happy with the idea of being bonded to someone.
"Who's the lady next to you?" Wooyoung asked, feeling the need to make you feel implied in the discussion.
"She's Y/N, I dragged her here with me," your friend laughs awkwardly. "She's not a fan, but Mingi got me two tickets so I made use of them."
"Oh! Do you happen to hear rock music sometimes?" Wooyoung asked, smirking playfully.
"Uhm… no, sorry." you said, looking at San, who was already looking suspiciously at you. He was really arrogant, you wished to be able to reject him, but he seemed to do it first.
"Even if she was, I told you guys I don't care. My soulmate can go search for another one." he said, before leaving them, once again. You were the next one to leave, not even caring about the possibility of giving your little secret away.
Even after a few days, you couldn't deny the emptiness you felt the moment you were indirectly rejected by your soulmate—it was definitely noticeable, somewhere in your heart. It was safe to say San didn't feel as good as he thought he would either, even when he rejected the one he was assigned to live his whole life with on purpose. He figured out it was you, because he stopped hearing the once annoying music; but he missed it. And the news about his soulmate was spread in the whole college as well, not helping at all; they were making even the outsiders interested in the tea going on.
"I'm tired of this shit, guys. I won't come to practice today."
Hongjoong looked at him once again, nodding, not knowing exactly how to comfort his friend in this situation, words long forgotten. San started to walk in the direction of where the studio was, his ears filling with the melodious sound of a piano playing. Like it was a habit of his, his legs guided him to the door, which he cracked open, just to reveal you playing the piano. Your fingers moved skillfully along the piano keys, Debussy's Clair de Lune resonating beautifully in the room. The sweet melody managed to comfort him somehow; he didn’t know if it was the calming nature of the song or the closure he was supposed to have with you, but he felt relaxed, listening peacefully until the painful silence started to bother him. He then took the matters into his own hands—in such a San way.
"You’ve got some skills, soulmate," he said, his lips stretching into a little smile, though a little dimple made its appearance still.
You got a bit surprised by his presence, but stopped what you were doing, to return a small smile and answer him.
"Thank you. I guess you do too."
"Was that Beethoven?" he asked curiously, sitting on the chair in front of the piano, next to you.
"Claude Debussy, but A for effort," you said, smiling at his attempt.
A wave of silence spread across the room, before you decided to break it: "We got off to a bad start, but we can still repair it. I'm Y/N," you said, sticking your hand out to him.
He grabbed it, shaking it softly. "I'm San, nice to meet you again." He waited for another reaction of yours, but seeing that you didn't plan on saying anything else, he made the next step: "Let's be friends."
You spent most of the day with him, sharing tips and talking about your opposite passions—though it was well known that opposites attract. Now, that you've gotten to know him a bit better, you could say he was more than just an arrogant guy.
Tumblr media
One month passed since your first interaction with your soulmate, and you would have never expected that there would be more; yet here you were, watching as he excitedly got two tickets from his pocket.
"You're invited to our concert tonight! My treat this time, for you and our friend." he winked, handing the same golden-like tickets to you.
"I'll be there, Sannie." you smiled, giving him a side hug before running to your class. He smiled softly, not believing the effect love could have on him.
Furthermore, tonight's stage would be an important one for him; it could mean accomplishment or failure, but he was still willing to try. The boys found him smiling like an idiot—but they enjoyed it, they could tease him about how a certain someone made him change. He never failed to amaze them, but someone definitely brought the best in him. He watched as the boys looked at him, his freshly dyed hair glowing nicely into the dim lights. His hands were covered in a pair of fingerless mesh gloves, fingers full of rings, while his t-shirt was nicely tucked in his leather pants. Some chains were dangling on his neck and waist, and a fake lip ring laid on his lower lip, completing the rockstar look he opted for.
"Where's San and what have you done with him?" Yeosang joked, entertaining the other seven boys in the room.
"Shut up, Sang. Are you ready?" Seonghwa asked, taking his mic and retouching the last details for tonight's show.
"Never been more ready." San smiled, taking his guitar and being the first one to get on stage.
"Hello guys, thank you for coming today too!" Wooyoung exclaimed, getting ready to perform at his best.
You and your friend were somewhere in the front row, singing along with the other fans who came to see the eight boys. You were bouncing with her, enjoying the genre you softly became addicted to, but it was surely an influence San had on you. You didn't know what happened to you, but you still had hope, that maybe something would change his mind. Suddenly, the culprit's voice was heard in the whole venue, catching your attention and making you stop whatever you were doing.
"As you all know, one month ago, I met my soulmate at the concert we held in the same place. I'd like her to join me here, please, Y/N?" he smiled, gesturing for you to get on stage, next to them.
You looked confusedly at your friend, who pushed you in the direction of the stage, playing their game. You got there, finding yourself in front of the crowd and waving awkwardly at them, not expecting to hear their loud screaming.
"I know I was a bit of a douchebag at the beginning, and that was definitely not the way you wanted us to meet. I messed up, but I hope you can forgive me."
The fans cheered up louder, while a big smile found its way to your face, making the boy's lips stretch into one as well.
"I know I rejected you at the beginning, but let me try to fix things. I hope it's not too late," he laughed softly, before continuing: "Have you started your looking for another soulmate project yet?"
You burst into laughter, nodding as no a few times. His cheeks got colored in a crimson red tone, and you could swear you've never seen anything cuter than a shy rockstar.
"Can I have the chance of being the lucky one, then?" he asked and watched as your expression changed, nervousness noticeable in his voice as well.
"I thought you considered yourself unluck—" Wooyoung interrupted, but Jongho was fast to cover his mouth and prevent him from saying anything else. "You're screwing the moment, Woo." he said, mouth still pressed on his older friend's mouth.
You laughed at their antics, taking the mic from San's hand.
"As much as you've annoyed me, I still like you, Choi San. I always did, which is why I would actually love to give you this chance."
As soon as you finished your romantic little speech, he cupped your face, pressing his lips on yours softly. The fans went crazy, cheering and jumping as the two of you sealed the promise of loving each other forever with a soft kiss.
"With these being said, I'd like to announce the title of our next album, entitled The sound of our tied souls!" Yunho said, making the night of every single soul attending that concert, the stars shining even brighter above their heads.
You pressed your forehead on San's, admiring his beauty while your noses rubbed lovingly against each other's. The road you had to walk on to find your soulmate was a tough one, but looking back on it, you wouldn't want it another way; you were too excited for your future with your other half—the arrogant boy you started to love, the one destined to be eternally yours.

Genre: BTS, Idol AU, poly au, BTS x reader, OT7, OT7 x reader, Idol BTS, Dom BTS, sub reader, angst, fluff, eventual smut
Warnings: BTS x reader, very subby reader, innocent reader, power play, eventual smut, sexual and non sexual domination, a lot of skinship (but like lots) excessive pet names, sexism, anxiety, insecurities, possessive behavior, maybe BTS x BTS etc..
“You can…what?” Namjoon kept pressing you, as his hold on your hair relaxed a tiny bit, enjoying the way your eyes were softly glazing over and your lips were slightly open. What a little treat you were.
“I…I can, sir” you whispered softly, completely relaxed and somehow comfortable with the way his grip remained grounding you. You almost forgot what were you nervous about. Why were you worrying so much, if they are all so nice and seemed to have this magic power over you?
You just wanted to obey. To follow each and every one of his words until he would tell you otherwise. You wanted for him to think you were good, to be proud of you. Was it his voice? Or the way he formulated his sentences?
The truth is the boys had been keeping their eyes on you ever since they met you that first time a couple weeks ago. Much discreetly, so you wouldn’t notice, but they were still there, spending way more time on the little cafeteria just watching your everyday routine. Namjoon and Hoseok had decided to wait, wanting to meet the little treat the boys were talking so much about in person. But the other were always there watching you work. The way you were so respectful and obedient, making sure you followed your managers orders perfectly, practically melting when you were given some approval or attention. It was as if you were craving for it. Always willing to please.
And the praise…
They could see right through you. How you would get all flustered and shy and when you were praised, but they could see how much you enjoyed it. How you were so terribly eager to do things right and get a gentle head pat from your nice coworker or the way she would coo at you when you were good. And the way you would melt, with a cute little blush decorating your face and a hazy look. Oh, you were so perfect for them, and you weren’t even aware of all the potential you had to be their cute little sub!
But they also noticed the way you would get so focused on your tasks that you would forget to eat. You had to be constantly reminded of your break times. Your hair would always fall out of place and you had to be redoing your messy bun many times through the day. They barely saw you seeping a tiny bit of water in a whole day.
And of course they couldn’t take that. Thats why you were here.
Namjoon’s firm stare softened at you as his lips curved into a smirk, as he chuckled softly and Jin had to hold a moan from escaping his lips. You were already addressing them by titles? Oh, you would truly be so fun…All the boys were completely entrapped looking at you and your reactions. They knew you liked the way Namjoon was practically manhandling you. How you were so so relaxed and calm, in comparison to when you entered the room. And the most observants of them could see how you were thighs were slightly clenched, showing you were actually as affected as them.
“I meant for you to say what were you able to do, but I guess that works too” Namjoon chuckled and left your hair, but kept a firm hold on your shoulder to make sure you didn’t forget his words and presence. And you were not planning on it. “Why don’t we sit, so we can talk more comfortably?”
You nodded softly as he started to guide you towards the big couch. You were about to lower your gaze, but stopped yourself immediately. You didn’t want him to be disappointed of you so soon! You held your head high, looking at the taller male, and before you could notice you were already sitting with him on your side. Jimin was quicker than the rest and, with a cocky smile, he sat beside you. Way closer than it would have remained professional, but you didn’t really care at this point. You were more worried about the seven pair of eyes that seemed too interested in you.
“Oh dear, what is this?” Jimin was now holding your hand, were there was a small bandage you had improvised that morning before your manager had came bearing the news.
“I-it’s nothing! I just got a small cut while I was…” you tried getting your hand away from his grip, in hopes to hide the ugly bandages that was stained with coffee, but his fingers only tightened around your wrist and your breathing hitched “I was…umm…I was…”
“You were what?” Taehyung’s deep voice sent chills down your spine, as your eyes moved to him, nervously. “What was so important for you to ruin that pretty skin of yours? Go on, answer”
Ruining your skin was his job…
“I was just slicing some chocolate and I cut through my nail, it’s not too bad…Mgh!” A moan went right out of your lips as Jimin started unwrapping the bandage and the pain surprised you.
The room froze all because of that small little sound that came out of you. Jungkook could feel the crotch of his pants tightening as hundreds of images started going across his mind. You, wearing some pretty lingerie that would be already ruined because of how wet he would make you with just his words and…he needed to stop before his wood was unbearable. And the other boys were in pretty similar situations. And you weren’t making things specially easier, because you started stuttering and apologizing nervously.
“What are you apologizing for, pretty? If it hurts, is normal for you to express yourself!” Jin’s hands were now resting on your thighs as he was kneeling in front of you, and he held the smile that started tucking his lips as he felt your muscles tense under his touch. “Keep going Jimin, we need to change that bandage as soon as possible. I would hate for your wound to get infected under our care…”
“That’s really not necessary! I can change it when I get home!” You tried to disuade him, also making your biggest effort to hide the way his hands on your legs were affecting you. They were resting on your mid thighs, palms hot even against the fabric of your pants, but something deep and warm inside your belly wanted them to go higher.
“Oh really? Do you have the right supplies for it on your home?” Yoongi asked you with a raised brow and his cat eyes staring at you almost made you faint, cheeks flushed.
“I…No, I don’t, b-but I have to go buy them anyway, since my landlord didn’t give me a first aid kit! I just keep forgetting…” you started rambling more to yourself than to them, but they heard you clearly, and they didn’t like it.
Jin’s hands gripped your thighs firmly, and you yelped. His hands only tightened at your reaction, and he manhandled you until your legs were open. Your eyes widened and you tried to free yourself and stop him, but his hands clasped your thighs in place, his eyes turning harder and staring at you so intensely you thought he was reading your mind. “Open them”
“B-but…”
“If I have to repeat myself, I swear you will regret being such a bad girl” his voice was a small whisper, but it made you want to drop to your knees for him “Now be good, and open your legs.”
You obeyed slowly, opening your legs for him. But your speed didn’t seem to satisfy him, because he pushed your legs open with a swift movement and got himself between them, only a few centimeters separating your faces. His hand got closer to your face, and his thumb freed your lip from your teeth. You didn’t even realize you were biting it, until his finger swiped softly against your flesh, pulling it softly with his nail.
Why did you want to suck it?
“What a pretty pair of lips you have, huh? Too pretty to have you chewing on them…” his words, his touch, it was all sending you into a cloud like state. You felt just so safe and warm.
So fuzzy…
“Pretty indeed…now, why don’t you just let Jiminnie take care of that wound while our Hyung keeps you distracted?” You barely register Hoseok’s voice, and they seem to notice it.
Were you already entering subspace? That idea made them happy.
“And you better not hide those sounds…it would not be good to keep the pain all bottled up, would it, cute thing?”

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You sat in the window seat of your room in the orphanage, reading a book on animals of all kinds. The stuffed animals were perched along the ledge as well as on your rocking chair and the bed. They were the selected few the orphanage caretakers provided to keep you entertained, even though you were 'almost' eighteen, you wanted to keep them with you. A wardrobe stood up on the north wall–the same as the bed–at the foot of the bed frame. In the corner your body faced, was a cabinet with drawers and a few unimportant dusty objects that were on top. A simple faded green circle rug sat in the middle of the wooden floor with books of all kinds laid out open to the crisp air. Your plain light blue dress was spread out around your legs keeping your pale skin covered, and your waist long hair was pinned back nicely in its normal half up half down style you were always instructed to wear.
A gentle breeze came over you through the crack of the opened glass pane window, causing you to look down at the big front yard. Other kids played with outdoor games or dolls in the grass under the great oak trees; but you stayed inside in your personal assigned room for two reasons: one, the kids were frightened of the cold behavior you possessed around them and two, you were a vampire and was afraid they would be suspicious of how you did not behave like them. But you, out of everyone who stayed in the orphanage, only knew of your dark secret and had been determined to keep it that way. The sun was blocked behind the gloomy sky in the afternoon sky as the day went on; today was the day that no one had to go to the medical room for a check up.
The rain stopped thirty minutes ago, allowing the kids to play outside. Most kids that arrived here were sick and went under special treatments. But rumor has it that the treatments didn't turn into anything else but death. The caretakers favored treating you because of your dead like appearance and no matter what they put into you it would never make a difference. Of course you knew exactly why and the caretakers were slowly beginning to exploit what you were with each test. Something they injected into your neck did weaken you for a few minutes and made you lethargic which you did not like. But because you were a vampire you came back to your senses quickly and the caretakers would act as if nothing happened and that you were healthy.  Not really fitting in and being the weird freak out of the bunch of kids that come and go here was beginning to feel stressful without anyone to relate to in this place.
Your abilities are to speak with any type of animal as well as take control of their mind and body. You tried your best to hide your gift as it previously caused trouble and damage to you back at the old orphanage you stayed at.
~Back at the previous orphanage~
Outside near the kitchen side of the building, hidden in the forest trees, you hunted for your next meal. All the other kids could eat freely with each other, while you took your food that the kitchen maids prepared for you to the woods where you could properly dispose of it and eat your kind of food. When you had gotten a rabbit to eat, one of the newcomers that arrived two days ago took interest in you and secretly followed you into the forest without you knowing. He didn’t find anything suspicious until you turned around freezing in place.  Finding him standing a few feet behind you brought panic into your mind. Jungwon, who was also a vampire, was not surprised or scared like you had thought he would be. He only told you to be careful of how you hunted and then left without another word. But you ignored his warning and continued to live the way you wanted, Jungwon being with you every step you dared to take.
   >>>
The forest was beginning to become dusk as you walked back to the orphanage after drinking your third animal that day. As you stepped over a fallen log, a sudden twig snapped behind you. Pausing, you stayed still using your hearing to detect anyone around. After a few seconds of waiting, you heard nothing happening, so you continued to walk on. But not even taking two steps forward, a hand catches your wrist turning you around mid-step. You were then standing face to face with Jungwon. He was holding his index finger up to his lips to tell you to be quiet. Your defense cleared your mind once you figured out it was him who grabbed you.
"What are you doing out here at this hour?!" he whisper-shouted. You huffed pulling away from his strong grip.
"Eating," you replied, with a shrug. He sighed in frustration, glancing at the forest cautiously.
"If you don’t be careful someone will notice," he warned you. You rolled your eyes and began to walk again in the direction of the orphanage.
"I will be fine, you worry too much Wonnie," you teased him. He caught up with you and grabbed your hand.
"I worry because I care about you," he explained, sternly. “Do you remember what I told you that day by the pond?” Jungwon asked you. You sighed, turning to face him.
“We will protect each other for eternity,” you recited to him. He nodded, bringing his hand up to brush your hair behind your ear.
“I meant it, I want you to be safe, okay?” he spoke gently.
You smiled with a short nod and gave him a sweet kiss on his lips. Then continued to walk with him to the edge of the forest where you both could see the big stone house. You both walked up the side of the building rounding the corner to the front door. Reaching the great double doors, he stopped you from continuing into the orphanage.
"I love you, you know that right?" he asked in a whisper. So that any prying ears didn’t hear.
“I love you too,” you whispered back, giving his hand a squeeze.
Jungwon and you connected immediately after your first encounter, it did take a few days to talk to each other after the incident in the forest, but you two were inseparable after that. You both did everything together in secret to avoid suspicion. Jungwon was caring, protective, and loyal to you. He was your best friend and soulmate, the very strong bond was growing the more you two were around each other. It would be unbreakable soon enough.
Unfortunately the bond went to ruins in a matter of hours, the next morning very early when the days began to stay dark longer. You were in the upstairs living room reading a book by the fireplace using the light to see the words on the pages. Some footsteps brought you out of the world of ink. Before you could process any action, you were grabbed by two males that were much bigger than you, they pulled you up and dragged you down the stairs. You did not dare to make a sound as the other kids were fast asleep. The men took you outside down the dirt path to the front of the gate to a wagon that was parked close to the road.
The dawn was still far from peeking over the horizon, the only light was the lanterns on the wagon. All the while in the distance stood the headmistress who watched you be taken away with relief. The wood scraped your back at the force they used to hall you up into the wagon. Taking one last glance at the house, fear and pain filled your heart as you realized Jungwon didn’t know you were being taken. He would be so worried and heartbroken. You can’t just leave him.
“Jungwon!!” you suddenly shouted out, startling the men in the wagon. They quickly silenced you before you could call once more. As the world around you went dark and the sound and movement of the wagon began to drive away from the orphanage leaving your heart clenched in pain. Your bond ached for the presence of your soulmate.
In the later morning, Jungwon made his way through the whole house trying to find you, the confusion and fear blocking his mind was making him dizzy. As he entered the family room, he noticed a book turned over on the floor next to the fireplace. He came up to the book and picked it up, finding that it was the same one you had been reading.
“They took her early this morning,” a soft voice spoke behind him. Jungwon looked over his shoulder seeing a boy with black hair and pale skin around his age standing in the doorway holding a teddy bear. His name was Sunoo.
“Who took her?” he asked, he could feel his own eyes turn at the thought of someone hurting you. Sunoo shrugged.
“Someone, who doesn’t like vampires,” he responded. Jungwon stood up rushing up to him, getting up in his face.
“What makes you think there are vampires here?” he questioned as if it was a threat. Sunoo let out a giggle.
“You're not the only vampire who lives in this building,” he whispered. Jungwon backed away in shock. What? He is a vampire too? How is that possible? Just then another guy much taller than Jungwon and Sunno came in. His name was Heeseung, Jungwon remembered.
“Sunoo, leave him be,” he ordered. “The others are waiting,” Was he also a vampire?
“I'll be around if you need our help.” without another word Sunoo left the room. Jungwon sighed looking at the open window.
“I will find you," he vowed, speaking aloud as if you could hear him.
~Back to present orphanage~
You had not seen Jungwon since that early spring morning, leaving you to fall into a depressive state, everyday the pain in your heart grew as the days dragged on without Jungwon. But about two weeks ago, it was going to be your three year anniversary of your stay at this orphanage. One partly cloudy afternoon, you were outside when a hummingbird flew down to your figure, who was placed in the middle of the garden, squatting down to the plants picking the required daily rations of herbs for the kitchen. At first you were not interested and irritated with its presence, but after a few tries to grab your attention, you finally looked up at the bird sitting on the little wooden label stuck in the ground. You had found a little skinny white ribbon in its beak. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you gently took the string and plucked a basil leaf tying the ribbon around it then gave it back to the hummingbird. Sending it back where it traveled from.
Another week went by, around eight o’clock in the morning the same hummingbird came back this time to your window with a little note tied to its foot. You rushed to the window, opening it letting him come in. Once you retrieved the note it said, 'Wait for me.' Jungwon. You sat all day long with butterflies in your stomach trying to understand the message. A call from outside by the headmistress broke your train of memories. The boys and girls got called inside for afternoon tea and snacks making you mentally cringe. As for you, the thought of food other than blood did not peak your interest. Speaking of snacks, it was almost pre-feeding time, which was only one hour.
Closing the book on your knees, you began to stand up when a sudden movement came from outside of the window down in the trees. You looked to the distant trees near the edge of the forest immediately spotting a tall male around your age leaning against a tall tree. He was looking right at you with curious eyes, he had chestnut brown hair and his clothes were a different style then the boys who stayed here. His eyes were like a doe's and he also had a soft handsome face and seemed to be fairly tall. Your eyes remained on him until a few kids came back outside to collect their toys distracting you for a second. When you looked back at the male he had vanished. Humming in confusion, you shrugged it off walking away from the window.
Right around supper time, you finally needed to eat. Placing the last book back onto the shelf, you straightened up moving to the closed door reaching out to the door handle. When you opened the door however two female caretakers stood at the door blocking the way out. Their faces looked soft and friendly.
“The headmistress wants to see you, come with us,” the first one informed you. Feeling nervous and uncertain, you nodded slowly and followed them down to the left of the hall, but instead of moving more to the left to go downstairs to the office, they moved to the right. So you continued to walk past the entertainment room then down another hall reaching the end of it to the last door on the right. A feeling of dread came to your mind as the door opened and your body began to retreat from it. The second female caretaker caught your arm before you could rush back to your room. Quickly, she silenced you by covering your mouth with her hand, she then had help from the first caretaker and together they dragged you down the wooden flight of stairs down into the basement. The treatments were held down here, only, it was not a new month, so your treatment was already completed.
Fear clouded your mind as the stairs became more and more less, you did not know why you were being brought down here, but you did not like it.
“Please, my treatment is already complete! Why am I down here?” you asked as you fought their grip. Of course you got no answer. As your feet touched the cold damp stone floor, a male caretaker met the three of you at the end of the steps to help control your erratic behavior.   Fighting the attempt to use your full strength, the door to the hallway leading to the room was in view now. Unfortunately, it was not an examination hall, no, it was an experiment hall with the metal chairs in the center of the room. The dimly lit hallway showed the headmistress of the orphanage standing with her arms folded neatly in front of her. A fierce look of determination and disgust plastered on her pug like face.
"Why am I going to the experiment chairs?" you frantically questioned her. She smiled reassuringly, which you saw right through.
"Just a few extra tests we need to do," she simply replied. You panicked by stuttering out noises  of confusion. She gave a blank expression before giving a small nod to the door to her right. Without another moment to spare, the male caretaker began to drag you to the hallway.
"No! Please! Call it off?!" you cried out. "I don't want to be tested!!" No one listened. You tried to break free without using your vampire strength, but it didn't work as well as you wanted. The door opened and the hallway came into sight. Your body was forced forward; there were small windows above the doors on both sides lining the hall, the sun was beginning to set giving the atmosphere an orange hue.
A door, five rooms down from the main door, opened and a few female nurses surrounded the small box-like room working on setting up medical equipment. In the center a chair with leather straps was standing. Something in you snapped as soon as your eyes came in contact with the metal chair, shoving your arm hard to the right, you sent the male to your right into the wall making it cave in slightly. A different male to your left immediately grabbed your free arm only to struggle shortly after to keep his hold on you. Before any more damage could happen from you, a sharp sting came from the nape of your neck. You screamed in pain, then reaching back to your neck gripping the object, you pulled it around to your eyes, it was a syringe with a blue residue left in the tube. No! Slowly you began to lose control of your surroundings, slumping to the floor as your vision faded into darkness.
***
You woke up in a forest full of trees, it was dull and misty outside around early morning. The birds sang sweetly in the trees and life in the forest was starting to wake up. Looking around the surrounding area, you noticed someone standing off in the distance. Walking closer, the person was wearing a gray blue sweater that had a hood, it was a strange style and looked from a different century. He seemed to have been looking around like he was lost until his eyes fell upon you. It was Jungwon. You felt as if your heart jumped to your throat, he was standing in front of you. Dashing a few feet ahead to close the distance between you both to touch him; a sudden invisible glass like wall trapped you from going any farther. You screamed out his name but he couldn't hear your cries.
Then the scene changed to a warm homey living room you had never seen before, but it wasn't the one that looked like a home, more like a boarding house. There were seven boys entertaining one another with a piano or dancing while some of them sat on a sofa laughing. A certain boy in the corner caught your eye immediately, it was Jungwon again. He was also watching the others play before his gaze turned straight to you. A smirk came along his face as he tilted his head to the side slightly, giving you a peek of his fangs. Found you.
***
Jerking awake on the experiment chair, your body felt like led, it was only limited by the leather straps buckled down along your fatigued figure. The room was dark except for the small spotlight above you; to the right in the faint light was the door and a rolling table that had surgery tools displayed. Your senses heightened when your nose smelled something intensely sweet. Your mouth started to feel dry and tight, glancing to the table next to you was a bowl that held a deep crimson red liquid. Blood. But it smelled different, it was much more sweet then the blood you normally consumed. It was human blood.
One nurse was present in the room, but she was busy taking notes at the desk in the nearby corner to notice you wake up. With a powerful pull you tried to break free from the buckles, but to no avail nothing helped. Your voice could not bring aid either, you were stuck until the other nurses would come finish the work of the test, now that you were awake. But the blue liquid would soon wear off and you could officially escape this place you once called home. Your baby blue dress is replaced with a plain white dress as well as your nicely pinned hair was now down in a tangled mess from threshing around.
“Oh good, you are awake,” the nurse said, standing up.
A few minutes passed of sitting in the chair, the nurse finished not long ago attaching strange wires and needles in your arms. But you could slowly feel your strength come back to you each second that went by. Suddenly, the faint smell of smoke and fresh blood filled your nose. You sharply turned your head to the door. What was happening? Just then you could hear loud breathing and footsteps coming from upstairs. Then the word fire was shouted out faintly.  Looking at the nurse at the desk, she finally stood up after hearing a female cry out from down the hall behind the closed door. She opened the door glancing both ways down the hall before her gaze fixed to the left. The look of fear and terror came upon her face, she then quickly shut the door locking it, after it was secured, she came over to the table of tools grabbing a surgeon knife as a weapon. Your eyes stayed fixed on the door curious as to what was out there in the hall.  You heard slow stocking footsteps echo in the long hallway, before it stopped in front of the door. It was quiet, except for the shaking breath of the nurse who was cowardly hiding behind your chair. Your eyes watched the door’s movement carefully.
The lock on the door slowly unlocked itself before it creaked open wide. In dim lighting from the lights in the hall, a figure stood tall, it was a boy with blonde hair. He didn't look but fifteen years of age and held a playful smirk. His eyes were the only thing holding your attention at the moment. They were the color red. Blood red. His peering eyes gazed around the room landing on you and then behind you. As he stepped in the nurse screamed bloody murder and moved closer to the wall.
"Who are you?!" she squeaked. The boy stocked into the room keeping silent as he made his way to her. She dodged him and ran to the door only to be blocked by his frame in a blink of an eye. Superspeed. He then broke her leg and caught her as she fell to the floor and dragged her out into the hall. You sit frozen as you hear her cries fade into nothing, the smoke is getting worse and you could hear the orphanage breaking above from the fire. Not even a second after the nurse was dragged out a different person appeared in the door frame. He was shorter than the boy you previously saw, he had brown hair and puppy-like eyes. Glancing down the room he spotted you, he looked to his right and motioned his hand in this direction. Was he going to hurt you? Are there more vampires? A sudden strong pull grew in your chest taking your breath away. It couldn’t be. The boy moved out of the doorway letting in another person you didn't expect to see. Jungwon took his friend’s place in the doorway looking in. When he saw you, he didn't spare a second coming straight to you.
"Good job Jake!" he praised his friend.
"Jungwon?!" you exclaimed in shock. He gave a small smile, but then frowned at the wires and needles in you. His eyes turned red in anger, he began to take them off. Then he grabs the leather straps, breaking them off your body. As soon as you were free, you threw your arms around him holding tight feeling the ache of the bond heal.
"I'm here," his gentle voice said, returning the hug. He didn't change in personality, but his voice was more mature and smooth since the last time you saw him. He pulled away cupping the side of your face to look at you.
"I can’t believe it’s you, I missed you," you whispered, admiring his face. Even after years of not seeing him you faintly remembered his facial features that strongly return to your memories all at once.
"I missed you too," he said, kissing your knuckles.
Just then the surrounding of the building began to crack and crumble under you guys. Slipping out of the chair, your legs gave out under you from being in the chair without movement for too long. Jungwon then picked you up without a thought and transported you to the outside. When the cool fresh air hits you, you breathe in relaxation, the grass under your feet feels soft as Jungwon sets you down. He did however keep his arm around you to make you stable while you two watched the building go up in flames.
Soon six boys came out from the forest in a rush. You realized they were from that fever dream you had not twenty minutes ago. Jungwon's arms wrapped tighter around your frame. Resting his forehead against your temple in relief as your gaze continued to watch the fire consume.
"You're free now," he whispered. The realization came upon you and your body slumped into his body, your eyes closing in the process. He was right, you were free.
Two hundred years later, your steps were light as you made your way to the table where the members talked with one another. The business room was completely dark, the only light that was present was the city lights of New York outside. Your long black sleeve pencil dress sparkled in the light making you look like a diamond. You came around the table carrying your glass of red liquid, you gave Jay and Heeseung a smile as you passed them and then slipped in between Ni-ki and Jungwon. Ni-ki playful bumped your arm in acknowledgement, you smirked and repeated the same action to him. Jungwon noticed your presence after his conversation with Jake ended. His arm came around your waist hugging your frame close to his. You wouldn’t have changed meeting him in the forest that day, because as fate would have it, he would be in return your soulmate in eternity.
“You look beautiful my love,” he complemented. You grinned at his words.
“Thank you Wonnie,” you responded. He smiled, slightly shaking his head at his nickname, looking back at the live city.
“Are you ready for a new beginning?” he asked in a whisper. You locked eye contact with him before leaning in, pressing a sweet kiss to his lips. Hearing the countdown of the New York ball drop.
“Always with you,” you replied in the same tone. Jungwon smiled, hugging you close if that was possible, allowing you to lean into his side. Then you and the boys raised your glasses to the new year of the 2000’s ready for a new beginning to happen.

Only like myself when I'm with you,
Nobody gets me, you do..."
Nobody Gets Me - SZA
Summary- You were no stranger to surprises when it came to dating Mark Tuan, but nothing could prepare you for what you would learn on your one-year anniversary; your sweet, shy, and respectable boyfriend was a closeted freak.
Warnings - cursing, explicit sex, spanking, edging, biting, bondage Genre- Fluff/Smut (18+ MA) idol!got7, female! reader Pairing- Female Reader x Mark Tuan Length- she's super long, mama. So get some wine 'cuz it's story time.
You savored the lingering taste of the wine on your lips, casting a drunken yet longing gaze at Mark Tuan, your striking boyfriend. His allure was impossible to resist, and tonight, he seemed to have cranked it up a notch. His black hair was brushed back, and a few strands dangled free over his eyebrows, tempting you further.
So damn gorgeous. You sighed to yourself.
The gleam of his diamond studs and Cuban link danced in the soft candlelight of your private table, accentuating his devilish charm. Your eyes couldn't help but descend to the bottom button of his open shirt, revealing his chest and a tantalizing mole. Mark's visuals were utterly provocative, though he seemed oblivious as he perused the drink menu.
As you continued to admire Mark's enticing form, your thoughts wandered to the past year you'd spent together. Mark had always been the perfect gentleman. He was polite, funny, respectful, treated, and sexed like a queen. You loved how he doted on you and made you feel special. But there was always something about him that seemed reserved... like he was holding back. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but there was an air of mystery surrounding him.
Mark finally looked up from the drink menu, his dark eyes locking with yours. A playful smile curled at the corner of his lips, and he reached across the table, his hand finding yours. "You seem lost in thought," he said, his voice low and seductive.
"Just reminiscing," you replied, your voice husky, your eyes never leaving his. "It's been an incredible year."
Mark's fingers tightened around yours, and his gaze deepened. "It has been incredible," he agreed, his tone filled with meaning. "One of the best years of my life."
Your heart fluttered in response to Mark's sincere admission.
"Before I met you, I felt content with my life. I had a sense of fulfillment in everything I had achieved so far, and my drive kept me moving forward." Mark glanced at your hands clasped in his.
"Then I met you, and time seemed to stop in a way I never imagined. You've taught me the beauty of slowing down and truly savoring every precious moment."
Mark's tender confession rendered you breathless; a soft 'I love you' slipped past your glossed lips.
"I love you too." His thumb, adorned with a ring, tenderly caressed your cheek.
His undeniable thoughtfulness and sweetness couldn't be ignored. However, the harsh reality of the situation was sinking in rapidly, akin to the Thunderbird you had knocked back earlier...
You were horny as all hell.
"We still got the rest of the night to celebrate. Why don't we get another drink and get out of here?" Mark traced the menu with his slender finger. "What do you want, baby?
"I think I've found exactly what I want," you said, your voice laced with anticipation.
Mark's eyes sparked with intrigue as he looked at you. "Yeah?" he purred, leaning in closer.
You leaned in as well, your lips almost touching, your words a whisper. "I want you, Mark," you confessed, your gaze locked with his, brimming with desire.
Mark's breath caught in his throat as your words hung in the air, creating a charged atmosphere between you two. The restaurant noises seemed to fade away, leaving only the intimate bubble of your shared desire. You triggered something in him. Mark scooted his chair closer, his lips brushed gently against your ear.
"Want me?" His warm breath tingled your skin. "And how bad you want me, y/n?"
Your heart skipped a beat at your boyfriend's teasing response.
"Badly."
A slow, knowing smile spread across Mark's face. "Well, then," he said, his voice low and filled with promise. "I think I can arrange that. You ready for your surprise?"
"Surprise? Where are you taking me?"
He downed his glass of Thunderbird, anticipation growing as Mark discreetly signaled the waiter, asking for the check. In a swift exchange, you both exited the restaurant, hand in hand, bound for a destination where your desires could unfold.
He maintained an air of mystery leading you to a waiting car. Soon, the shimmering lights of Las Vegas enveloped you. The MGM Grand stood tall in the distance, and to your surprise, Mark had secured a balcony suite, a sight that left you astonished.
"Mark, this is beyond amazing," you marveled, your eyes scanning the balcony suite's luxurious details.
Mark's smile radiated warmth, a glint of modesty in his demeanor. "I'm glad you like it. I know I was on the road for a while, so I wanted to make it up to you."
"You really outdone yourself, I don't know how I'm gonna top this." you replied playfully.
With a soft chuckle, he waved off the compliment. "You're important to me. Seeing you smile is everything."
His words resonated deeply, and you took his hand, feeling a surge of gratitude. "Thank you, Mark. I feel incredibly lucky to have you."
He met your gaze, sincerity evident in his eyes. "I'm lucky to have you, too."
As the night embraced the glittering skyline, Mark and you found yourselves cuddling on the balcony of the suite, clinking glasses filled with chilled champagne. The city below was alive with a symphony of lights and distant laughter, casting an enchanting aura around you both. The cool evening breeze danced through your hair as you leaned against the balcony railing, savoring the moment.
"I could stay up here forever..." You sighed.
"Me too," Mark's arm tightened around you. "But why don't we take this cuddle session inside?"
"I'd love to." You playfully kissed your boyfriend on the nose before turning towards the door.
Your body stops short when Mark grabs your wrist.
"Can I have a kiss first?" A smirk appeared on his lips.
"Of course," you whispered, pressing your lips against his.
The kiss was sweet and passionate, a tender dance between your lips. Mark's arms encircled you, pulling you closer as his kisses became deeper and more intense. He smelled of expensive cologne and tasted like champagne, a taste which you quickly fell in love with. His hands moved down to grab a handful of you, and you could feel the heat building between you. Mark had never been this handsy.
You couldn't help but feel excited by this sudden change in his behavior.
"Mm... Mark," you gasped. "We should... probably head inside..."
"Why?" he breathed, his voice husky.
"Because..." you said, a sultry grin curling your lips. "We're starting to get a little carried away out here, and someone might see us."
"I'm sorry", He blushed slightly. "My mind is kinda in the gutter right now."
"Oh, really? I can't tell."
He let out a soft chuckle and released you, his eyes full of lust. "C'mon, let's go inside."
You agreed, biting your lip.
As Mark guided you into the luxe suite, the thrill of the moment intensified. Finally settling onto the plush king-sized mattress, the softness of the sheets against your skin added to the intoxicating atmosphere. Unbeknownst to you, your boyfriend had quietly entered the room amidst the sensation, his presence unnoticed in your heightened sensory bliss.
"You seem comfortable," he commented, his voice a soft whisper in your ear.
"Mmhm," you sighed, your eyes closed, body relaxed.
Mark's arms slowly slid around your waist, his lips pressed to the side of your neck as he placed his body weight next to yours.
"What's gotten into you other than that Thunderbird?"
"I'm not sure," Mark admitted, a slight hint of embarrassment in his tone. "I guess I'm just a bit worked up tonight."
"Is that so?"
You felt Mark's smile against your skin, his hand tracing up the curve of your spine. "Maybe," he teased. "Does that make you uncomfortable?"
"No, not at all." You turned to meet his eyes, your hand gently caressing his face. "In fact, I like it. You're usually so... reserved. I'm into this side of you."
Mark smiled sincerely. "I'm happy to hear that. You've opened my eyes to a lot of new things. I'm learning more about myself every day."
You kissed him, a gentle, yet passionate kiss. As the kiss deepened, your hands began to explore his body, feeling the contours of his chest beneath his shirt. Mark's hands found their way to a familiar area, his touch electric against your skin. The sensations of desire and intimacy filled the room, blending with the soft, sensual lighting.
Mark pulled back slightly, his seductive gaze locked on yours.
"You know, it's been an amazing year, so, I want to make tonight a little different," he said, his voice a seductive whisper. "I'm going to give you a taste of what I've learned."
"And what exactly have you learned, Mr. Tuan?"
"To be honest, I've always had these fantasies, but I was too shy to bring them up before."
You looked at him in surprise. This was definitely not what you were expecting. But instead of being shocked or put off, you felt a surge of arousal at the thought of exploring Mark's hidden desires.
"I'm all yours tonight," you said with a smile. "Don't need to be shy around me. We have been together for over a year after all."
Mark's face flushed with excitement and relief.
"I'm not as vanilla in bed as I've been letting on," he admitted. "When we have sex, as much as I love it, I fantasize about doing the nastiest things to you."
"Nasty, huh?" You purred, tracing your finger along his jawline. "Tell me, what kind of nasty things have you wanted to do to me?"
Mark's gaze darkened, a look of pure desire in his eyes. "You really want to know?"
"I do," you confirmed, your voice soft, yet laced with a hint of intrigue.
"Are you sure?" he asked anxiously.
"Absolutely," you replied with a reassuring smile.
Mark's hesitation disappeared. His dark gaze bored into yours, the intensity of his emotions reflected in his eyes.
"Well, for starters," Mark's hand teased your inner thigh. "I've always wanted to pour oil all over that pretty skin of yours."
"You want to massage me?" You grinned, amused by his choice of fantasy.
"Not just massage," His lips traveled closer to your ear. "But tease, pinch, spank..."
"Mark Tuan, are you into BDSM or something?"
Mark's lips curled into a seductive smile. "That.." he said, his hand creeping higher, his fingers lightly brushing your panties. "And among a few other kinks. Is that okay?"
A wave of desire crashed over you at the realization of what Mark was hinting at. You nodded slowly, your breath quickening as you started to feel a familiar sensation growing in your thighs.
Mark stood up off the bed and started unbuttoning his shirt in the most torturous fashion. Slowly exposing his chest and tattoos inch by inch. "Can I show them to you?"
"Sure," you breathed, distracted by the strip show your boyfriend was putting on.
His buttoned shirt slowly slid off his toned shoulders and fell to the floor. "I need a yes or a no, beautiful."
You felt your core pulse at the request. "Yes."
Mark walked over to the closet, opened the door, and disappeared from view. You could hear the sound of hangers moving and then the rustling of cloth. He returned, holding a black satin tie in his hands.
"May I?"
You nodded and closed your eyes as he gently tied the fabric around your head, making sure you couldn't see. Your senses were on high alert, acutely aware of every movement, every sound, and smell. You felt the bed dip as Mark climbed on top of you, his weight pressing into the mattress, his heat radiating toward you. His breath was warm on your cheek as he leaned close.
"Is that comfortable?" he whispered.
"Yes," you sighed.
His hands traced the contours of your body, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. The sensation of not being able to see heightened the experience, making every touch, every kiss, every whisper of breath feel magnified.
Mark kissed your neck softly. "I've been waiting to get this dress off of you..." he said.
You felt his fingers slowly unzipping the front of your dress, exposing your bare chest. Your nipples hardened under his touch, and you gasped as his tongue flicked against the sensitive flesh. His lips trailed a hot path down your neck and across your collarbone, before circling around your hardened nipple. He suckled greedily, his teeth grazing the delicate skin. You writhed under his touch, your hips arching into his.
"So damn responsive..." Mark murmured.
You felt his mouth leave your skin, and the sound of him pulling the bottom half of your dress reached your ears.
Suddenly, you felt a cool, smooth sensation on your skin, followed by a sweet scent that filled the air. It took a moment for you to realize that Mark was drizzling warm oil onto your body.
The oil was slick and luxurious as Mark's hands glided over your skin, massaging away any tension or stress. His touch was confident and skilled, kneading your muscles with just the right amount of pressure.
As the massage continued, you felt yourself becoming more and more relaxed, surrendering to the sensations that were coursing through your body. The combination of the warm oil and Mark's expert touch had you melting into the bed.
"Mm... that feels so good," you moaned.
Mark chuckled. "Good, 'cause I'm about to make it feel even better," he murmured.
His hands traveled down to your legs, kneading the tense muscles there. You felt the mattress shift as Mark positioned himself between your legs, his fingers deftly slipping under the edge of your panties.
A gasp escaped your lips as his fingers began to work their magic on your most sensitive areas, his touch gentle yet firm. Your body trembled in anticipation, knowing that Mark's talented fingers were mere moments away from sending you into ecstasy.
You cried out as his fingers finally made contact with your slick, throbbing core, sending waves of pleasure crashing through you. Mark's pace increased, and he circled your clit, his fingers slipping and sliding through your folds. You gripped the sheets as you arched your back, desperate for more.
Mark's breath was warm against your skin as he leaned close, whispering into your ear.
"You're soaking wet, baby," he urged, his voice low and commanding. "You've been wanting this all night, huh?"
"So...badly..." You blushed into the bed sheets, turning your head away from your boyfriend's filthy speech.
"Am I making you shy?" Mark teased and planted kisses on your neck between each word. "I can stop if it's too much... but something about the way you won't stop squeezing around my fingers tells me you don't want me to."
Usually, the most you'd get out of Mark during sex was a couple of moans and a few curses, which you never complained about. But his sudden rolodex of vulgarity was completely unexpected, giving you the ultimate sensory experience.
"I want you to cum for me," he urged, his voice low and commanding.
You shuddered as your orgasm hit, waves of pleasure washing over you, soaking your panties. Your body trembled and quaked, a guttural moan escaping your lips. As the intensity of the climax faded, you slumped against the bed, utterly spent. You were vaguely aware of the sound of the oil bottle being placed on the nightstand, and then Mark's weight shifted on the bed.
"Open your eyes, baby," he cooed, gently pulling the silk from your eyes.
As you opened your eyes, the world came into focus. Your body was glistening with oil, and Mark was hovering above you, his gaze filled with admiration.
"You are so fucking gorgeous," he said. "How did I get so lucky?"
A blush tinged your cheeks.
"I could say the same for you."
Mark leaned in and kissed you passionately.
"You're the best gift I've ever had," he whispered.
His words sent a jolt of pleasure straight to your core, and you found yourself craving more.
"What are you gonna do with me now?"
"Hmm," Mark contemplated while he touched the oil slick on your skin. "I should clean up my mess, shouldn't I?"
His lips reconnected to your chest, planting delicate kisses on your collarbone, and travelling down to your stomach. He planted a final kiss beneath your belly button before looking up at you with innocent eyes.
"Can I kiss you down here, babe?"
Your heart raced as you looked down at him with desire. You couldn't believe how much you wanted him right now. You nodded without a word, biting your lip in anticipation.
"How about a little biting?" Mark added. "I promise I won't do it hard."
Your heart was pounding in your chest as he looked up at you with a mischievous glint in his eye. You couldn't help but groan in pleasure at his words, already imagining the feeling of his teeth sinking into your skin.
"Yes," You breathed.
His lips found their way back to your stomach, trailing down to the apex of your thighs. His fingers dug into your hips as he planted open-mouthed kisses on your inner thighs, teasing you with his tongue. You let out a gasp as his teeth grazed your sensitive flesh, sending a jolt of pleasure through your body. He looked up at you with a wicked smile, knowing full well the effect he was having on you.
"More," you whimpered, your body arching towards him.
He obliged, his teeth sinking deeper into your skin as you moaned in ecstasy. It was all you could do to grip the sheets as he continued his assault, his tongue lapping at the sting he had left behind.
You were practically shaking at this point, your body begging for him to give you what you needed.
"Ready for a little love bite?" he asked again. The words made you tremble and your body ached for more. You nodded in response, signaling that you were ready.
"I always wanted to nibble on these thighs of yours." His teeth sank deeper into your thigh as he spoke.
"I've been wanting to kiss on them, too." He said between bites. You moaned softly at his words and felt yourself getting wetter.
His mouth was hot against your thigh, and your eyes shut closed as he moved to the other leg. "And I've been wanting to taste them." He whispered, his wet tongue drawing circles on your skin. Your thighs started to shake as you tried to hold your composure. His hands held your thighs still, not allowing you to move.
"Please". You begged him.
Mark's dark eyes darted up at you. "Please, what?" He asked as he licked on your panty line.
You moaned loudly and arched your back, as you struggled to get the words out. "Please, babe... stop torturing me." You whimpered, wanting nothing more than to feel his soft lips on your core. He smiled and nodded at you, as he began to drag the corner of your panties down with his teeth.
Without a word, Mark pressed his lips to your entrance, forming a seal around your folds with his tongue. He touched all of the inner walls of your wetness with it, rotating it around before pushing forward, exploring the depths of you.
Mark moaned, sending waves of pleasure through your body with every stroke of his tongue. His fingers gripped your hips as he pulled you closer to him and buried his face in your crotch. His tongue darted down your slit as he tried to push it inside of you. Your hands shot down to his hair, fighting the urge to scream as his tongue explored your inner walls.
It wasn't long till Mark felt your walls pulsing against his tongue, signaling that you were close. Your hips started to buck against his face as your orgasm neared and Mark quickly pulled his mouth away from you. You let out a disappointed whine as he pulled his face away from your dripping entrance.
"Did you like that, babe?" Mark asked, licking his lips seductively.
"Mhmm," You opened your eyes and met his gaze, too horny to even speak properly. "Why did you stop?"
"I'm edging you," Mark smirked devilishly. "It's pretty cruel of me, actually."
"I don't mind," you replied, a pleading look in your eyes.
"Oh really?" He raised an eyebrow. "You must be as much a freak as I am then, huh?"
Your heart skipped a beat as you heard his words.
"Please, Mark. I need you to do it again."
"Oh, I'll do it, babe." Mark's voice dripped with lust.
He bit his lip at you with a playful grin and then leaned forward to kiss you, his soft lips enveloping yours as he reached down with his hand. His fingers reached your entrance and he pushed them inside of you, stroking your clit with his thumb as he did so.
You moaned into his mouth as you felt his tongue flicker against yours, eagerly kissing him back as he continued to explore you. You bit his lip and gripped his hair, pulling him closer as he groaned into the kiss.
You could feel your orgasm building again as he continued to thrust his fingers back and forth inside of you, his thumb moving in circles around your clit. His lips left yours and traveled down to your neck as he nibbled on it, pushing you over the edge in the process.
You felt a rush of pleasure as your release squirted out of you, coating Mark's hand as he eagerly lapped it up. His tongue darted down to your entrance, lapping up every drop of fluid as your orgasm subsided.
"That was so sexy," Mark said, lifting his head up to look at you. "But I think it's time to take it up a notch, babe."
You let out a moan of compliance as Mark let his fingers slide out from you. You watched in anticipation as he placed his hand on his crotch, undoing the button on his jeans with a quick flick of his fingers.
"Fuck me, Mark."
Mark teasingly shook his head, pulling his pants down. "Patience, baby. I still want to tie you up."
A shiver ran down your spine as you saw his lustful stare. He moved towards the bedposts and slowly wrapped your upper body with his extra ties. As Mark's gaze roamed over your body, you could feel heat radiating from him.
"Mm. Mm. Mm," he said, his tone full of lust. "You look so sexy like this."
"You don't look too bad yourself," you replied, admiring the sight of his tattooed physique.
He leaned forward, his lips inches from yours. "I want you so badly." he breathed, his eyes heavy with desire. "I can't wait to fill you up."
You felt your body react to his words, your core pulsing with need. Mark loomed over you, both hands resting on the sides of your head. His skin gently teased your wet clit.
"Are you ready for me?" he asked softly.
Your body tensed at the sensation of his lips against yours. "Yes."
With a wicked grin, he slowly plunged deep inside you, filling you completely.
"Oh, fuck..." he exclaimed, a soft moan escaping his lips.
The sensations were unlike anything you'd experienced before, and you could feel your walls tightening around him, milking him for every drop.
"Is this good?" Mark murmured against your ear, his breath tickling your neck.
Your response was incoherent mumbles.
Mark continued thrusting, his fingers clenching in your hair as he pinned you to the bed. The intense sensation quickly caused you to reach an almost unbearable level of arousal, your body throbbing in time with Mark's movements. He pulled out slightly, then plunged deeply inside you again, eliciting a muffled scream.
You felt yourself tightening up around him, trying to milk him even more, but you couldn't help it. You were so close. Mark's mouth found its way back to yours, kissing you passionately as he moved inside you.
"Baby...," Mark urged, pulling out even further. "If you keep on getting tighter, like this, I'm not gonna last."
His pace quickened, his breathing getting heavier as he neared his climax. He let go of your hair, bringing his hand to cup your face.
You felt him twitch inside of you, and the warmth of his release flooded your insides. Ecstasy-ridden cries left your lips as your own orgasm followed soon after.
"Fuck, you're so amazing," he groaned, burying his face into your neck. "I love you so much."
With his weight pressing down on top of you, you could barely breathe. Your heart pounded rapidly as if trying to escape your chest. You tried to relax and catch your breath, to regain some sense of composure. When you looked up, you found yourself gazing into Mark's intensely brown eyes, full of love and desire.
"I love you, too." You sighed, short of breath.
"Do you want to stop?" Mark whispered in your ear. "You seem tired."
"No, don't stop."
"I won't then."
Mark slowly pulled out and reached up to undo the ties around your arms and chest. "Sit up for me," he whispered, grabbing your hand restraints.
"Turn around for me, baby," He helped you to get on your knees, your arms behind your back, then positioned himself behind you. "Damn..." he exclaimed as he ran his hand over your hips and ass. "I wish you could see what I'm seeing right now."
He kissed down your back and began to softly massage your ass. His fingers occasionally trailed between your thighs, but he held himself back from touching you there. "Look at you..." he groaned softly. "I can see how much you want me just by looking. You're so beautiful."
Your heart ached at his words. "I do."
"How much?" he asked, pressing into you from behind. His erection rubbed against the wetness between your legs, leaving a trail of warmth in its wake.
"I've been thinking about this all night." You moaned.
"All night?"
He teased one finger into you and you gasped, rotating your hips so that he would push deeper inside. "Ohh," you groaned as a second finger joined the first.
"Ever since dinner." He thrust into you and you felt yourself tighten around him. The sensation only lasted a moment before Mark withdrew his fingers entirely. You whimpered. He smacked your ass before his fingers glided over your core. A soft moan escaped your lips as he slowly caressed it. He pulled back to spank you again before shoving further inside you. A whispered curse left his lips before smacking your skin once more and watching it tremble.
He gently grasped the front of your neck and pulled your head up off the bed. "Put your hands on the headboard for me, love. Keep your ass up high," he commanded. You obeyed, and he held your hips as he began to drill you deep and hard.
Your arms were bound, so you relied on your hips and lower back to support you. Your face and chest were pushed against the mattress, but you didn’t mind. The sensation of him thrusting into you had taken over your entire being. You locked eyes with him as he moved further and further in, hovering a mere inch from your back. When he brought one hand around to rub your clit, it sent shockwaves through your body. You bit into the sheets to silence a scream. You shook as the pleasure started to build within every fiber of your being - building, building until it felt like the whole world was crumbling around you.
"That's it," Mark breathed.
His hand reached forward again to find its way to your sensitive clit once more, and the sudden intensity caused you to cry out. Your heart raced and your mind spun wildly as your body seemed to be consumed in flames.
"Mark," you gasped, barely able to put any words together. "I'm gonna-"
"I got you, babe," he replied. "Let go."
Finally erupting in a blissful wave, your muscles tightened around him as if never wanting to let go. Mark's hand was still firmly held on your clit as he thrust into you one final time, his own orgasm overtaking him. As he squeezed your hip with both hands, his thrusts grew more erratic, until with one final thrust, he pushed himself as far inside you as he could.
You felt him tense up and let out a deep moan as he thrust one last time, his liquid love flowing into you. Your body shuddered as you felt his entire length throbbing inside you. You couldn't breathe, your body shaking with the intensity of the moment. He slowly pulled away from you, but before you could move, he held you tightly in his arms.
"Are you all right?" His voice was soft and gentle.
"Mmm hmm," was all you managed to reply.
He chuckled softly, his hands caressing your back. "Good. Me too."
Mark held you close, pulling you into him as he collapsed on the bed. His lips pressed lightly against your neck as he kissed your warm flesh. Everything about him felt comforting and intimate; his mouth was gentle, his movements slow and deliberate.
Finally, you opened your eyes and looked at him. His dark eyes stared back into yours as a gentle smile appeared on his face. His hair was a poofy mess sticking out this way and that, while a thin sheen of sweat covered his forehead. He looked happy.
You smiled back at him with a racing heart; then said, "You were right."
"About what?" he asked.
"You are kinky," you replied with a grin.
He laughed heartily at your statement and the sound made you laugh too.
"Yes," he said with a playful smile, "but I think you liked it though; you couldn't help it."
"I loved it," you answered honestly, looking deep into his eyes.
He kissed you again, pressing his lips softly against yours as you kissed him back.
It felt like heaven.

It's said there is nothing truly perfect in this world. Yet the thought of two people coming together and finally tying the bond is considered so. It took you by surprise. Truly, was that really the most perfect thing?
When two (or more) people get together. And their bonds glow. It's perfect, and they live happily ever after. The end. But it is never really the end. You grew up with two of the most proclaimed and promising soulmates. Childhood friends from a run-down neighborhood. Being mischievous and biding time skipping school. Tied by time. Yeah, pretty perfect.
But as they grew, they dabbled in things they still have yet to tell you. (You have a clue) And began getting into terrible relationships. When they finally reconnected, they noticed the marks on their wrists glowed a beautiful violet. For a while they were content, quietly living for months. During that time you were conceived. After a while they met their third and final soulmate. mere months passed, they were worse together than they were apart.
Three young souls were burdened by the world of men and women who tore their innocent hearts and made them ruthless and savage. You'd wake up most days to screaming and yelling. Fighting and crying. Makeup breakfast and all three of them pretending to sweep it under the rug. Like clockwork. You wondered if it was just your soulmate parents. Or maybe it was an occurrence for other people. You didn't know. Sometimes, when they fought, and you'd cover your ears and pretend they didn't. You wished they had never met.
But the thought made you feel terrible. How could you wish something like that? How could you wish to tear people apart from each other; or their destined person? It turned your stomach. You cried yourself to sleep most nights they fought, not because they were fighting. But because you wished they had met different people, had different soulmates, or even.. didn't have a soul bond at all. Even going as far as to curse whoever made the marks. Truly why would God-knows-what put three mentally unstable and unwilling people together when they can't even cope around each other? You didn't get it, you would never get it.
It was a hot June day, you stepped into the house after school. Tired from the walk in the heat. You step into the hallway and then. You think. Yeah. It was then you were determined to never want a soul bond. You overhear your father. He who was the last one to be welcomed in the bond. He's hushed on the phone. His sobs pull your heart apart, he confides in your aunt. He cries through his words. He tells her 'i feels unloved, unwanted' 'i feel like a third wheel' and he doesn't know what to do about it. You hear your aunt on the other line, you can hear her worried voice and tone. He said he tried for years to fit in, but he'll never feel as close as his other partners who grew up with each other.
He doesn't even know if your two biological parents even genuinely love him. He doesn't know if he can find it in himself to even love you. The child he raised alongside his partners. His supposed soulmates. You, the kid of those two people- remind him everyday, that he's an outsider. That you'll never truly be his kid, but the kid of two people he desperately wants to love him back the way he wants. You don't eavesdrop anymore. You don't eat dinner that night. You don't even wail like you should. You're numb. Your head meets your pillow as you drift into thoughtless summer.
You don't believe in soul marks, you don't believe in the fact someone can love someone because a bodily detail told them so. No. You don't. You don't want a soulmate and you don't want a mark.
Your eighteenth birthday rolls around. Still no soulmate marks. 'You're a late bloomer,' everyone tells you. You could care less. You're ecstatic at not having one. Your birthday party ends in your parents fighting. Something you're used to by then. you're moving out sooner than a month later. Biding farewell to your run-down neighborhood and childhood friends, some of whom have their soul partners hanging off their arms. Every glance you make at their soul bonds makes you queasy. Deep down your gut, still twists at the thought of it somehow appearing. A sudden bloom of a mark catching you off guard. You shake those thoughts away.
Your new apartment is centered in the city, even though you aren't a big fan. Anything to get away is fine with you. It's small, homily, with good lighting and a small balcony that you spend most nights reading by. Your bedroom is not even two steps away from the kitchen. You can't complain though. It's mostly modern for the price you're renting it at.
You're more than settled when it's three and a half years later. You've just earned a promotion at your job. Your passion for graphic design really blossomed into what you wish it would. You find yourself becoming satisfied with the way your life is. Maybe a pet would make it better?
You've thought about it most days. You slip into the bathroom, brushing your teeth. You don't mind your reflection. You know what you're gonna see when you look up. It's warm enough to wear spring clothing. A long dreadful winter has passed once again. You spit the remaining toothpaste and wash it down with some mouthwash. You know every nook and cranny of your small apartment. Finding your dresser and pulling clothing out.
Before you shimmy it on. You're looking in your reflection. Your heart drops. A single mark on your left shoulder. A mark in the shape of a rose. You're out of breath as you scrub and scrub. All you leave behind is a red mark. You cry silently to yourself all day. The city lights glimmer and shine upon your tears on the balcony. Your pants ride up your calves. You haven't gotten dressed since earlier that day, a loose hoodie and a plain pair of grey sweats you threw on frantically to cover up. of course, on your day off, you get this terrible news.
It was so rare that someone wouldn't have a soul mark. Deep down, you prayed you would be a part of those rare people. How silly of you to hope you'd be spared from this. You're mindlessly scratching your ankle, tracing a pattern. For some reason, your head drops down to look at what you're doing. A gasp gets caught in your throat.
There on the curve of your left ankle that's propped up on the chair with you: is another mark. The infinity symbol with two dots on each side. You pull away like it burned you, foot slamming onto the concrete beneath you. You're rushing into the apartment like you can run away from it. Slamming your sliding door behind you. You're striping off your clothes frantically, only left in your undergarments. Not soon after you stand bare in front of your mirror. Tears welling up in your eyes.
There are four more symbols you can spot immediately. 3. in the center valley of your breasts, it mimics a tattoo. it's the arrow of a bow. 4. Another on the front of your right hip is a seventeen percent full waxing cresent moon. The rest is filled in with black to simulate the shadow. 5. flushed on the front view of your left hip, four distinct fingerprints, they connect like constellations, short bursts of lines. It's curved to mimic where a hand would press flat.
6. On your stomach, right below your belly button. A tiny figure of a man lays on his palms, he's no bigger than an inch. He's etched out like a sketch. His features are small but extremely detailed. His torso is bare, showing off his lean muscles, his hair fluffy, and it pools around to caress his blurred face. His left leg is tucked under his extended right that drips off like it's plunged into a body of water that creates ripples. Across his lap is a blanket. 7... seven? You take a sharp breath. It's brand new. It wasn't there a second ago. How'd you miss it?
The seventh mark is on your left thigh, it's a twisted branch that flowers hang from, there's no color but if there was; red would be the color of every pedal, it almost covers the whole front of your thigh. You pray that's it. You pray there's no more. You turn around to check the rest of your body, oh no. Just your luck. When you pull your hair over, you catch sight of the 8th soul mark. A dragon, how silly. But it's just a dragon, wings spread wide and it crawls up the length of your neck. Barely out of view, hidden by your hair or clothes when you wear some, an inch and a half at most. Next, 9th. A butterfly thats missing a corner of its wing, Nestled on your left shoulder hanging to a flower. 10th. An outline of a tiger ready to strike right between your shoulder blades.
11th. Your collarbone, new and appearing before your eyes. An acurate black hole swirls right where your collarbone would be/is. 12. A shooting star, its on your right wrist. 13. A goldfish on your left wrist, swimming in a circle. 13...
You're a wreck. You counted 13. Thirteen marks. Soul marks. Soulmates. You have thirteen. What kind of sick joke could this be on you. When you finished counting you threw a fit for the first time in your life. Even when you were a kid, you were never fussy. How the tables turn. Hyperventilating and kicking anything closest to you. You acted out to gain any sense of control. By the time you were done screaming at the world, towards the sky, and whoever above. You fell into a heap on the floor. Tears streamed. And streamed. And streamed.. until you couldn't cry.
You got dressed, made yourself comfortable, all silently. Then went to bed.
Your neighbors weren't very happy. Actually- they're nice people, almost called the cops though at your outburst. 'I'm fine, really. I thought I saw a roach,' you joked. Not a roach, but the feeling of thirteen marks on you made you feel uncomfortable with yourself as if there really was one. The week following was the lowest in your life. You did enough research to kill an interviewer. Soulmates dont really have divorce. But you can remove a soul mark, If you do, it will hurt. Forever, actually. You'll always feel empty. And lonely without your soulmate, under the wiki is a soulmates therapy helpline. Slapped into your face in bold red letters.
God. Your head hurts. Last week made you feel like you were on a roller coaster. You're all out of excuses that allow you not to attend anything. You need time to think about what you're gonna do, how you're gonna avoid this. No way are you gonna bunker down with thirteen people, and somehow find a middle ground and live happily ever after. You don't usually run away from your problems.. but maybe this time, you can get away with it.
Your name is called, and you blink back into reality. "Yes?" You respond, glancing up at your boss. "We're gonna go grab some dinner. Do you wanna come?" She smiles, Eunha is on the older side. Her smile lines are beautiful, and her clothing always fits perfectly. "Sure, let me grab my bag." You smile politely. Food has surely gotta get your mind off this. Even for a moment.
The restaurant is bustling with life. Everyone from every office has a table, smacking of lips and laughter rings out. Clinks of glass surround you. You find yourself in the center of it all. Yet you can't help but feel farthest away. Your fingers pull at a loose thread on your blouse. To avoid suspicion, you converse as much as your mind will let you. Drink as much as you can, and eat as much as you can stomach. All the while drowning in your own thoughts.
"Hey, is that your soul mark?" Taejun points out directly at the goldfish poking just under the cuff of your blouse. The hue shines brightly, almost as if a black light is on it. He's always been nosy. Yet your stomach sinks, and your smile falls away. He notices, of course. "Sorry. Touchy subject -" You're cutting him off. "I gotta go to the - the restroom," you pull away abruptly, grabbing your purse. Pushing your cuff down. You smooth your hand over it a couple of times ferociously.
You hope that glowing hue isn't what you think it is. You excuse yourself past people, moving towards the exit of the establishment. Just your luck, you bump into someone, their drink spills all over your left arm. "Sorry -" You go to apologize just as they do. Your wrist catches the corner of your eyes. The goldfish swims animated. It's so bright in such a dimly lit area. You can't hide the shine it creates. An orange glow casts off your face and the man you bump into.
Your eyes pull up like magnets to the man. His face is hidden behind a black mask, and an equally black hoodie is pulled over his head. Dark hair pools around his circular glasses. Your breath catches in your throat. He doesn't move an inch. His eyes search yours. His words are lodged in his throat. "I.." he speaks first.
"Wonwoo!" Dokyeom calls for his friend, his soul mark glows vibrantly, and he feels a connective pull to the brunette man. Wonwoos eyes pull from yours, glancing to his younger member.
You take the opportunity. It takes every ounce of strength to pull yourself away from the gorgeous man. You feel like Cinderella, God - why are you pulling away? You're pushing against people and finally make it out the door. "Wait!" A voice calls. A hand grips your own. The same left wrist, it glows brighter than before. The marks are connected despite you wishing they weren't.
"No!" You cry out, like it'll stop glowing. It's blinding. You feel like you can't breathe. The man from before pulls you back from the door. His eyes are squinted from how bright the connection is. People gasp and bump into each other, flash-banged by a sudden- unsee before soul flash. You wiggle out of his gasp.
Then you run, and you run. And you don't stop until you've made it all the way home. A drive that would take 10 minutes at most through the city. You block out every street lamp, every step of stairs you take, every person you bump into. You block it all out. You're running away again.
And you feel deep down that this time... it wasn't the best idea.

— pairing: yandere ot7 x (f) reader — word count: 11.4k — warnings: yandere, stalking, obsessive behaviour, dissociation/panic attacks, mild dub-con (character trying to force a kiss), other content that may be triggering. — amazing cover by @leithold!

You pull a chunky sweater – Namjoon’s, you think – over your head, the thick wool settling heavily on your shoulders. It makes you want to crawl out of your own skin whenever you have to wear their clothes. You don’t have much of a choice, though, unless you want to freeze your ass off.
They thankfully had enough forethought to bring some of your clothes with them the night they broke into your apartment, but the majority of it isn't warm enough to fend off the dropping temperatures in the cabin. You may be many things, but stupid is not one of them. You know it wasn’t an accident that your warmest clothes were left behind.
You pick at the sweater, frowning, as you nip at it with your nails. You know it’s childish to ruin their things but it’s truly the only way you can act out without foiling your plans. Screaming at them won’t help you one bit and you need some form of outlet for your anger. By the time they pick up on all the tiny holes in their clothes, you’ll hopefully be long gone.
Standing in the middle of the room, you listen intently in the direction of your closed door. When the hallway remains silent, you dart over to your bedside table, carefully opening the heaviest book there. You pull out the thin metal bookmark that’s been nestled strategically between the pages, clutching it in your hand as you hurry over to the window.
You bend down, finding the place you left off yesterday before you resume digging it into the space between sash and the windowsill, slowly chipping away at the paint.
You found the bookmark completely by chance, having it literally fall into your lap a little over a week ago. It was the first time you had dared to touch your belongings after you woke up. Somehow, not touching your things made everything feel a little less real, like if you just wished hard enough, you would blink and find yourself back in your apartment where everything belonged.
But, after a week of pretending you didn’t want to throw up whenever one of your kidnappers brushed up against you, the craving for something familiar became too great.
The bookmark had felt like a godsend. Your heart had squeezed painfully as you remembered that Heejun had gifted it to you many years ago – how it was the first thing he bought after he received his first measly paycheck back when you were teenagers. Who would have thought it would end up being the only tool available to you to escape the stalkers you had so desperately tried to protect him from.
You drive the bookmark in with a huff, hitting the edge with your palm.
You’re pretty confident you’ve been trapped in this cabin for two weeks, give or take a few days. So far, sticking to your plan has been harder than you anticipated. It’s tough, acting like your skin doesn’t crawl when they try to hold your hand, or that your face doesn’t want to twist into a murderous scowl whenever they look at you. No matter how sweet or thoughtful they try to be, you can’t stop thinking about the things they’ve done – the torture they’ve been putting you through for the past year. Even if it goes against every fibre of your being to be around them, you know that this is your only way out. You have to make them trust you, make them comfortable enough to let their guards down, and that’s when you’ll be able to escape.
You never expected it to be easy – how could it be? – but the pretending is beginning to take a toll on you. You’re tired of being locked up, tired of being watched, tired of being around them. It’s a fatigue you can’t escape from no matter how much you try to sleep, and the constant weariness has caused a few near slip-ups already.
It made you unable to stop yourself from jerking away from Taehyung’s hand, despite hearing his footsteps coming up behind you in the hallway long before your arm was touched. It made you flinch when Yoongi stroked the top of your head in passing, even though you had seen him coming. It made your eyes narrow when Hoseok passed you a cup of perfectly normal water.
The weariness is faint, but it’s there.
And somehow, every time it breaches the surface, Jimin is always there to catch it.
He seems to particularly enjoy pushing your buttons. It might be because he knows, at least suspects, that you’re only acting, but Jimin always has a calculating look in his eye when he invades your personal space, when he pushes himself too close for comfort. He’s clearly not that easily fooled by your little act, but you have no clue how to convince him otherwise.
You wince as you hit the bookmark a little too hard, the metal leaving a deep indent behind on your palm.
You take that as your cue to stop chipping away for today, not willing to tempt fate by continuing and risk getting caught. After returning the bookmark to its hiding place, you step back to the window to sweep up the little chips of loose paint into your hand.
Sighing, you take in the sorry state of your precious plants, the poor things having browned and wilted from the increasingly colder temperatures in the cabin. You know there’s no way to save them now that they’re already half-dead, but the dark soil is still of use to you, especially since it proves to be a perfect cover for paint shavings.
You dust off your hands, gaze sweeping over your room to make sure nothing looks out of the ordinary. Deeming everything fine, you turn your attention to your closed door, squaring your shoulders as you listen to the muffled sounds coming from somewhere else in the cabin.
You can do this, you tell yourself, even though both your heart and mind screams no. Straightening yourself out, you glance back at your wilted plants as you open the door. Seeing the dead leaves makes your stomach twist uncomfortably.
The only thing you can hope, is that you’ll get out of here before you share the same fate.
Tumblr media
You stare down at the pastel yarn in your lap, fingers nimbly casting on another stich as you knit. You enjoy the mindlessness of it – of how you can let your mind wander while your hands work on their own. It's a hobby you picked up a few years ago by chance, when you were procrastinating writing a paper and ended up falling down the rabbit hole of watching people knit chunky blankets at two am. You’ve gotten decently good at it now, at least enough to know some basic recipes by heart.
A sudden huff on your left almost makes you lose a stitch.
You cast a quick glance over at Seokjin as the couch shifts, your own needles pausing as you take in the absolute mess he’s made of the yarn in his hands. Seokjin is pouting down at his creation, brows furrowed in deep concentration as he fumbles awkwardly with his knitting needles. Judging by the jumbled thread around his fingers, he’s just been creating knots for the past few minutes. The sight would’ve been endearing, maybe, if the situation was different. You can picture it a little too easily, how head over heels in love you could’ve been with Seokjin if he had approached you normally. How you would’ve swooned with fondness watching him try so hard to share your hobby with you.
You shake your head, casting the thoughts away before they can settle. It doesn’t matter what could have been when the reality is still this – you’re trapped in a cabin that’s god knows where because he, and the others, are crazy. Whatever weird thing they’re trying to pull by bringing you things you like and participating in your hobbies isn’t going to work. You know that biting your tongue and enduring their antics is an necessary evil, that spending time with them will only help you to better understand what makes them tick - but each passing day is only bringing you closer and closer to your breaking point.
“That doesn’t look right, hyung.” Hoseok chuckles as he walks past the couch, a steaming cup of tea in his hand.
He takes a seat on the opposite couch, pulling Jungkook’s feet into his lap. Jungkook is reading one of books Namjoon brought for you, his doe eyes suddenly growing big as he seems to get to particularly interesting plot point. You don’t think it’s a coincidence that he picked the same book you finished yesterday.
As is, you’ve been seeing a lot of them over the past few days.
The boys seem to have worked out a system, something that’ll help them keep up appearances and avoid bringing any suspicion to themselves. It sounded like Hoseok was the one that came up with the idea – of the boys grouping up to stay in the cabin in rotating shifts. Both Seokjin and Hoseok have employees to take over their shifts, Seokjin giving the excuse that he’s trying to branch out the business and thus needs to visit florist fairs out of town, and Hoseok simply stating he wants to take time off for himself now that the shop is doing well. Jungkook can mostly do as he pleases, it’s not like any of your professors take attendance, but you’ve heard him whining to Seokjin about doing extra shifts at Déjà Bloom to make up for the eldest absence.
It seems that Taehyung and Yoongi are established enough in their careers that they can work from home (or the cabin, rather) a few days a week, but you’ve heard them grumbling to the others that their presence is often needed in-house to finish up projects. Jimin, on the other hand, already works in shifts at the station, three days on, one or two days off. You don’t doubt he somehow managed to charm the other officers to give him the best shifts – they seemed willing to break their backs for him the times you visited the station.
It’s Namjoon you’ve seen the least to.
It’s not that surprising, not when he basically runs the local library by himself. He’s already ranted twice about how little support the library gets from the city, so you think it’s safe to assume that he doesn’t have the funds to hire another full-time worker to help him out. You should be glad that it doesn’t leave much time for him to come to the cabin, that he can only come up during the evening and stay until the morning after every now and then, but it only seems to leave him even clingier than normal. The cabin feels extra stifling whenever he comes to visit, with how he constantly hovers around you, holding your hands and hugging you close so that you don’t catch a cold, darling. It makes pretending you don’t mind it just a smidge harder every time.
“I’m trying my best! It’s harder than it looks.” Seokjin whines, hair flopping dramatically as he flings his head back.
You watch his throat bob, lips still pursed in a soft pout as he gently calls out to you, ”Y/n, can you please help me?”
You press your lips into a strained smile, sighing internally as you look at the knotted and lopsided creation in his hands. You don’t even quite understand how he’s managed to tangle it up so badly in such a short time, but the only help you can offer him at this point is just to unravel the whole thing to start anew.
“Sure, give it here.” You murmur.
Seokjin flashes you a sheepish grin as he hands the yarn over, the tips of his ears turning pink as you grimace at the mess. You pull the knitting needles out from the last remaining stitches, tugging on the yarn to find the first knot you’ll have to untie.
“You know you don’t have to force yourself to do this if you don’t enjoy it, right?” You say, staring down at the string as you work to loosen it up.
Honestly, it would be better for you if he didn’t. I do have to spend time with them, but you’d much rather just sit in awkward silence over being reminded of them every time you go to do one of your hobbies after you get out of here.
“I’m not forcing myself to do anything, angel, I want to learn how to knit. I might not be very good right now but I still enjoy it, because it means I get to spend time with you."
You don’t meet the lovesick gaze that burns into the side of your face.
Hoseok does an exaggerated shudder on the other couch, jostling Jungkook’s legs with the movement. ”You’re so sappy, hyung, you’re going to make me gag.”
Seokjin makes an affronted noise, chucking one of the pillows behind his back at Hoseok in retaliation. The pillow ends up veering too much to left, smacking right into the youngest’s head instead of his intended target. Jungkook startles at the impact, too absorbed in his book to even see it coming, shocked eyes blinking back at Seokjin as the pages slip from his grasp.
“What?–”
“Ah, Seokjin hyung, stop bullying Jungkook! The poor baby didn’t do anything wrong!” Hoseok snickers behind his hand as he fusses over Jungkook. He tucks some of Jungkook’s hair behind his ear, gently patting his cheeks to bring him back from the unexpected shock.
“Jungkook-ah, h-hyung didn’t mean it!” Seokjin stutters.
Drowning out their bickering, you turn back to the tangled mess in your hands as Jungkook uses the opportunity to tease Seokjin, joining Hoseok to gang up on him. Your brows furrow as you work on an especially difficult knot, the yarn tied so firmly you struggle to get a hold of it. You’re so focused that you almost don’t realize how the sound of Seokjin’s exasperated voice and Jungkook and Hoseok’s laughter makes your movements falter, heart squeezing in your chest.
You brush of the weird feeling immediately, refusing to linger on the implications as you chalk up the odd moment of weakness on your growing cabin fever.
By the time you’re almost completely done with unravelling Seokjin’s creation, you feel a gentle nudge on your arm. You glance up to find Seokjin already staring at you, his face lighting up as you meet his gaze.
“You know what, angel, I don’t think I ever got to tell you about the time I first saw you.”
You give him a weary look, already knowing you’re probably not going to like where this is going. ”What do you mean? The day at the flower shop?”
“No, the first time, Y/n.” Seokjin smiles, a little bashful. ”It was, eight – nine? months ago, when I was on my way home after closing the shop. It was weird, I ended up taking a completely different route than I normally do and I wasn’t even sure why. There was just this pull, an urge to follow this unknown feeling and figure out what it meant. It ended up leading me to a random grocery store and I suddenly knew there was something I desperately needed in there. I had no clue what it could be, but I figured it would come to me as I walked around.”
“I had almost made my way through the entire building when I finally rounded an aisle, and watched as some kid ran straight into your legs, knocking you over. I almost thought I was dreaming when I felt the pain in my own legs as you connected with the floor. I had already come to terms with never meeting my soulmate, and there you suddenly were, right in front of me.” Seokjin’s voice is thick with emotion, his eyes glossy as he reaches out to take your hand in his.
Because you have to, you allow his warm fingers to wrap around yours, letting it chase away some of the chill in the room despite the fireplace roaring with life close by.
Hoseok and Jungkook look enraptured by Seokjin’s story, and think you can see a faint tremble to youngest’s lips. His tale clearly resonates with the other two, and you have no doubt the others would react similarly if they were here to hear it. It makes you a little jealous, almost, how they get to have memories of relief and happiness over finding their soulmate, while yours is shrouded in terror and confusion.
Seokjin gives you an apologetic smile, squeezing your hand as he says, "I’m sorry I didn’t help you at the time, darling, I was just too shocked.”
“It’s okay.” You murmur, ignoring the what ifs vying for attention in the back of your mind.
There’s one odd thing about Seokjin’s story though, something you’ve never heard about happening between unknown soulmates before.
”You mentioned feeling a pull? What’s that about?"
You think Heejun mentioned how he felt drawn to Jaemin for a few weeks after they found each other the first time, like their soulbond was urging them to strengthen their newfound connection. But that was after. There was never a pull that lead them together in that library, it was only luck – coincidence.
“I’m not sure,” Seokjin admits. ”It was the first and last time felt anything like it.”
“I got that feeling too, that day at the charity event. I normally don’t involve myself in other people’s business, but the thought of not checking out what was going on made my heart ache.” Hoseok adds, a small frown on his face as he rubs his chest.
“Me too. I wasn’t supposed to be in that shared class with Y/n last semester. I had enough credits to drop it, but the thought of doing it made me feel really anxious. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack the one time I actually tried to withdraw from it.” Jungkook says, hesitant eyes flickering from you and Seokjin’s intertwined hands to your face.
“I never felt it, though.” You frown.
You would’ve known if you had, right? If they all had such strong reactions, then there’s no way you could’ve missed all the signs.
Seokjin hums, something contemplating crossing over his features as he rubs his thumb over your knuckles. ”You’re not from around here, correct?”
Well, you’re definitely not from here, bumfuck nowhere in the middle of the woods. You bite back the snarky reply, knowing it won’t do you any good to voice it out loud. You’re sure Namjoon must’ve given them the rundown on everything he knows by now, especially with the extensive file he has access to, but since you’re trapped out here for god knows how long, you might as well humour Seokjin and play along.
“No. The city I grew up in is about two hours south by train.”
The three men all nod along like it’s new information, Seokjin even seeming a bit surprised. They would all make fine actors, you think.
“Why did you move here, then? If your friends and family were all back home.”
“The university is nice–”
Hoseok interrupts you with a tsk. ”The university in the next city over is miles better and you know it, sunshine.”
It is.
You even had the grades to be accepted there, if you had wanted to go.
“So? Why did you pick this specific university in this town?” Seokjin prompts, one eyebrow quirked.
You pause. Why did you pick this city to study in? Live in? It wasn’t the best option you had. Hell, the courses aren’t even that interesting compared to what’s offered at other universities. Heejun chose to join you after you had already made a decision, so it’s not like you can blame it on him, either.
“It … felt right.” You breathe.
That’s the only answer you have. There was just this feeling of rightness that washed over you when you settled on your current university, like this is where you were always supposed to be.
Seokjin looks pleased by your revelation, nodding his head as if to say there you go.
You feel yourself growing pale, heart racing and palms turning clammy as the truth slowly but surely sinks in. This entire time you had lived with the belief that the bond didn’t affect you, that there must have been a mistake – something you might be able to change. But this, this means that the pull had been there for you too, that it manifested itself with you first. You just didn’t know it.
None of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t come here.
You stare down at the yarn in your lap, at the knots that have been untied and those that are still there. Maybe this was something you were never able to change. Perhaps Namjoon was right, that all of this was destined, and you would’ve ended up here no matter what choices you made.
You’re not sure what hurts most – the idea that fate handed you over to them, or that it was your own soul that betrayed you, tricked you, into this hell of a reality.
Tumblr media
Inhaling deeply, you feel the crisp air rush down your throat, nestling deep into your lungs. You keep your face turned towards the weak rays of sunlight streaming through the balding trees, lips twitching at the faint warmth that caresses your face. This is the first time you’ve been outside in weeks and you’re going to use the time you have for all that it’s worth.
The sound of crunching leaves interrupts your moment of peace.
You open your eyes slowly, steeling yourself before you turn back to look at Jungkook. He’s been keeping his distance since you came outside, letting you have a few minutes to yourself. You’re not stupid enough to think that this is him trusting you, though. Jungkook has been tense ever since you stepped outside the cabin, body strung as if he’s only waiting for the moment he’ll have to jump into action to hunt you down.
Thankfully, you’re not dumb enough to believe that you’ll manage get away even if you do try. It’s no coincidence that it’s Jungkook accompanying you outside, it’s easy to tell from his physique alone that he’s likely the strongest and fastest out of all of them. There’s also no chance that Jungkook suddenly decided you bring you outside by himself, without the others being involved first. You knew from the moment Jungkook hesitantly approached you that this was a test.
A test for them to see if you can be trusted; to see if you’ve been broken enough to stay, or if you’ll attempt to run away.
It is tempting, now that you’re outside with the soft ground under your boots and the gentle wind brushing through your hair, but you know that playing the long game is the only thing that will truly get you out of here.
You hug your arms to your chest, pulling Jungkook’s padded jacket closer to your body to fend of the chill that’s started to cling to you. ”I’m getting cold, do you think we can walk for a bit?”
As it is, you’ve barely even moved away from the old house. He lead you out back, to the beginning of the open field behind the cabin, but you haven’t dared to venture much further without his permission. You want Jungkook to take the lead, to let him believe that he's the one in control even if you don’t trust a single bone in his body.
Jungkook pulls his bottom lip between his teeth, doe eyes flickering between you and the clearing nervously. He’s still standing a few feet behind you, just enough to give you the illusion of privacy despite the both of you knowing that you have none.
“We can walk to the tree and back.” He stumbles over the first word before he clears his throat and nods in the direction of the big oak tree in the middle of the clearing.
It’s not as far as you’d like, but you have a feeling it’s to make sure you don’t get too knowledgeable about your surroundings. Either way, you need to stretch your legs and move around to make sure your muscles work once you actually can escape, so the tree is better than nothing.
“Thank you.” You flash him a bright smile, a sense of ugly satisfaction curling in your gut at the way it makes Jungkook almost trip over his own feet.
You fall into step besides him once he closes the distance between you, allowing your arm to brush against his as you trudge through the withered grass and moss. The brief contact is enough to make Jungkook flustered, and even though you hate it, you know you have to keep initiating it in hopes that it'll break down his walls faster.
“The hyungs ..” Jungkook starts, his mouth pinching into a faint frown. ”The choices they made weren’t the right ones, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad people. I-I don’t like keeping you here but they – we – are scared of losing you, of you not giving us a chance if we let you go. They’re only trying to do what’s best for all of us, even if it doesn't seem like it right now.”
He sees the unconvinced look that passes over your face before you manage to school your features, the slight purse of your lips that tells him you’re not fully ready to accept the truth just yet. He continues still, voice filled with gentle mirth as he talks about the others.
“They’ve helped me a lot. The hyungs sort of took me under their wing the moment I met them. I-I, um, didn’t have the best childhood, my parents weren’t always k-kind, but the hyungs have always tried to make up for it – to make sure I never had to deal with that kind of hurt again. My s-stutter used to be much worse before, before they showed me what it felt like to be safe and happy.”
Your treacherous heart aches for him. You release a soft breath, letting go of the urge to take Jungkook into your arms with it. You keep your eyes on the pale blue sky, whispering out a simple, ”I’m sorry.”
“I-I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad for me.” Jungkook rushes to say.
”I don’t even know why I said it, I-I just … want you to know that deep down, they always mean well. When my parents cut me off, Seokjin hyung offered me a job even though business was too slow for an extra part-timer at the time. I hated working for hyung in the beginning. He practically forced me to, saying that exposure to people would help me overcome my shyness and s-stutter. I was always so anxious I couldn’t sleep the night before my shifts, worried s-sick that the customers would be mean and make fun of the way I talked. It was rough, but it helped. Hyung was always there to make sure it nothing bad happened. Seokjin hyung and the others have all taken care of me in their own ways, even if they may seem unconventional to others. The hyungs just care, so much, about the people they love. I-I really don’t know where I would be without them."
“I believe you.”
You don’t doubt that the others have taken good care of Jungkook, or that they all care for each other. You would have to be blind not to see that they’re all close friends, that they all love each other, regardless of the influence of the faint soulbond they share. They might mean well, they might think they’re doing the right thing, but that doesn’t excuse anything that has transpired in the last year.
You still hate them.
That won’t ever change.
“You do?” Jungkook’s doe eyes grow wide with surprise. His lips stretch into a happy grin when you nod, his soft curls bouncing against his cheek as his steps seem to get a little more pep in them.
You crane your head back as you reach the tree, looking up at the sun through the barren branches. You watch a couple of birds fly across the sky, spreading their wings as they dance with the wind, swooping and rising as it pleases them. Oh, how you wish you could join them. You’d be willing to give almost anything for a pair of wings to get yourself out of here. To fly away from the rotting earth under your feet and the heat of Jungkook’s gaze on your face.
You can see him toing at the fallen leaves out of the corner of your eye, his breath hitching every time he opens his mouth to say something, only to regret it and screw his lips shut immediately. He pauses, his chest rising and falling with unsure breaths, before he timidly admits, ”I-I think I might have been the one that helped Tae hyung send roses to your apartment.”
The suddenness catches you off guard. You turn to properly look at him, dumbfounded, as you wait for him to go on.
“I-I didn’t know it was you at the time! Hyung pulled me aside one night when we were all hanging out and asked me if I could help him deliver some flowers without Seokjin hyung knowing about it. Hyung looked so shy, so happy, when he mentioned he had found his soulmate and wanted to woo them properly. We never really talked about our marks – but Taehyung has always had the most trust in the soulmate system, he has always believed he would find his other half. So I-I was really touched that he wanted my help with something so special.”
“Tae hyung never gave me a name, just the address and the apartment number it should be delivered too. I-I didn’t know where you lived since I always left my letters in your locker, so I didn’t connect the dots until I saw him in Hoseok hyung’s shop. Back then, I wanted to respect hyung’s wishes and keep it a secret, he didn’t seem ready to share it with the whole group yet. He seemed particularly worried about Seokjin hyung, that it would affect him badly because his own soulmate had died–”
Jungkook looks like he’s bitten into something sour as the word leaves his tongue. He shakes his head, eyes rolling before he adds, “which obviously wasn’t true – but I understood his reasoning at the time. I regret not asking him more about it, though.”
You blink at him, another piece of the puzzle clicking into place. That is why Seokjin didn’t have any information about the roses, because Jungkook had done it off the books.
For the first time since you stepped outside, Jungkook adverts his gaze to the ground. He hangs his head, a deep furrow appearing between his brows as he stares down at the dying grass. Jungkook pouts, his lip beginning to wobble before he hurriedly pulls it between his teeth. The scrape of his teeth as he bites down on the soft flesh leaves a faint sting in your own; the cruel reminder of your bond causing you to clench your fists.
Jungkook sounds regretful, quiet, when he finally says, "I wish I hadn’t helped hyung cause you even more pain.”
You close your eyes, allowing yourself a brief moment to collect yourself. What are you supposed to say? It’s okay? Because it’s not. I forgive you? Because you don’t.
You turn on your heel, shoving your fists deep into your pockets to hide the way they tremble. ”You didn’t know.”
Jungkook lets out a wounded sound, something close to a hiccup, as he keeps his head bowed in apology.
“I’m still sorry, Y/n.”
“Okay.” You murmur.
Remorse you can work with. If Jungkook is truly regretful of what he’s done, you should be able to use that to your advantage.
You swallow thickly, stepping closer to nudge his shoulder with your own. Jungkook’s dark eyes shine with guilt as he raises his head, face nothing short of distraught as he meets your gaze.
“Let’s go back, Jungkookie.” You give him a weak smile, the nickname foreign as it rolls off your tongue.
It has the intended effect though, as you watch Jungkook’s mouth fall open, a star struck expression taking over his features. You’ve been mentally prepping yourself for this moment for days, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. This is the first time you’ve reciprocated the same closeness, familiarity, that they’ve been suffocating you with ever since you got here. The fact that Jungkook is the first one to hear it is a big deal, one you hope will make the others jealous – miserable – as they hopelessly wait for their turn.
You take a step forward, waiting for Jungkook to snap out of his daze before you continue walking any further. The guilt on his face has softened into something sweeter, doe eyes sparkling, as he begins to lead you back to the cabin.
You can work with this, you think. Maybe if you continue to focus on Jungkook, on the remorse he carries and how eager he is for you forgiveness, you can manipulate him into letting you go. Maybe you can go out for a walk again, ask for some alone time now that he thinks you won’t run–
You squeak as you step on a patch of frozen mud, feet sliding out from underneath you. In the fraction of the second it takes for Jungkook to grab you, all you can think is; not again. He pulls you into his arms, holding you tightly against his chest as he drags you away from slippery patch. Your face is smushed against his padded jacket, your chests falling and rising in tandem from the scare.
You swear it’s like a flip has been switched ever since you got here, your clumsiness levels having gone from ten to a hundred. You were never this bad back in the city; but you also were never this caught up in your own thoughts with planning possible escape routes, either.
“I’m fine.” You blurt out before Jungkook can open his mouth to ask. "Thank you for catching me. Uh, again.”
Jungkook hugs you close, arms squeezing around your waist in reply before he leans back to look at you. The proximity makes you gulp, your throat suddenly painfully dry as you stare at him up-close. With his face so close to yours, you can’t help but notice the small mole beneath his lips, or how pink and glossy his mouth looks after he mindlessly wets it. The cold temperature outside has given his cheeks a healthy flush, adding even more charm to his already cute face.
Despite everything that has happened, you can’t deny the fact that Jungkook is handsome. Pretty - in fact.
Your heart tumbles in your chest as Jungkook takes a tiny step closer. You can barely even feel his hands anymore, the pressure on your waist so light you would think you were made of glass. It’s a stark contrast to how bone crushingly heavy his gaze feels. There’s something intense, yet nervous, in his eyes as they slowly roam over your face, almost like he’s carefully committing every detail to memory.
Your brain is screaming at you to step away, to run, as his face cautiously moves closer to yours, but you can’t seem to move, feet frozen to the cold ground. Even with the sun shining down at you, you swear you can make out stars in Jungkook’s dark eyes as he leans in. Heart racing, you tilt your head, eyelids swooping low as the air fogs up between you.
A particularly harsh breath of air escapes from your lips, the force strong enough to create a misty cloud that momentarily separates you from Jungkook as the condensation drifts upwards. The fleeting veil between you is enough to snap you back to your senses. The weirdly anticipatory fluttering of your heart screeches to a halt, immediately being replaced by a violent shiver of horror as the air clears.
“Jungkook.” Your voice sounds strangled even to your own ears.
Jungkook stops in his tracks as you call out his name, dazed eyes sweeping up from your lips to the strained expression on your face. You would think a cold bucket of water has been dumped over his head with how quickly he releases you, hands yanked away from your body as he stumbles back.
“Y/n, I–” He cuts himself off, face fluctuating between longing and sadness as he looks away. Jungkook shoves his shaking hands into his pockets, voice weak as he says. ”Let’s go back to the cabin.”
You nod, tightly gripping on to the sides of your jacket as you curl your arms protectively around your middle. You once again fall into step beside him, the distance between the two of you much greater than it was before. Your heart is still galloping away in your chest, your stomach tight with nerves. You should be disgusted, repulsed, that Jungkook tried to kiss you, but all you can feel is just – confusion. Jungkook wasn’t the only person that leaned in.
For a split second, no matter how brief it was, you wanted it too.
You swallow down the bile rising in your throat, keeping your gaze firmly locked onto the ground as the cabin’s shadow begins to loom over you. This isn’t good. It’s hard to weed out the cause of your moment of weakness; maybe it was cabin fever, or maybe your basic need for human affection latched on to the person that seemed the least threatening. Or, perhaps worst of all, maybe your soulbond is beginning to turn on you – beginning to accept them despite the circumstances forcing you together.
You cast one last glance up at the weak sun, hugging yourself tight. You whisper out a small prayer to the remaining leaves rustling in the trees, begging that all of this won’t cause you to lose yourself. That you won’t lose sight of the only goal you have.
Escape.
Tumblr media
In hindsight, you should’ve known the pretending could only go on for so long.
You breathe in slowly through your nose, carefully scrubbing away any traces of dirt from the carrots in front of you. Cold water flows over your hands whenever you go to rinse one off but the sensation barely even registers, your mind all too aware of the eyes boring holes into your back.
You had jumped at the chance to help Yoongi in the kitchen – any low effort activity that still made it seem like you wanted to be near them were your favourite – but you hadn’t accounted for Taehyung and Jimin to join you as well.
It's unnerving, feeling their eyes following every minuscule movement you make as you follow Yoongi’s instructions. The tasks he gives you are superficial, washing vegetables and stirring pots, but there’s not much else for you to do when you’re not allowed near any knives. Still, regardless of how simple they are, you try to take your time doing them whenever you help Yoongi out.
Normally it’s just to buy yourself a few extra minutes of silence in the kitchen since the others tend to stay clear of it, but now, it’s the sinking feeling in your stomach that makes your movements drag.
Taehyung and Jimin are up to something. You’re very aware that they aren’t as gullible as the rest - that they’re on to what you’re trying to do.
You carefully place the shiny carrot on the cutting board besides you, listening to the steady chop chop chop of Yoongi’s knife as he dices it up for the stew he’s making. He’s muttering something under his breath, his dark brows knitted together in concentration as he stares down at the knife.
He never rushes you, you’ve found.
Regardless of the reason why – maybe he believes you’re being slow to spend more time with him or maybe he knows you need a break from the others some times – you know Yoongi doesn’t mind it. After all, it means he gets more alone time with you.
“Ah–” Yoongi pauses, knife hitting the cutting board with a dull thud. ”I forgot the new spices in the car! I’ll be right back.”
“Sure.” You nod, feeling uneasy as you run another carrot under the slow stream of water.
You look over your shoulder, watching Yoongi step back from the counter, knife still in hand as he turns around to face Taehyung and Jimin. He points it in their direction, eyes narrowed as he drawls out a stern, ”Behave.”
Taehyung scoffs, childishly turning up his nose at Yoongi’s demand as he leans back in his chair.
“I’m offended, hyung. When have we not?” Jimin rolls his eyes.
Yoongi’s jaw locks, a frustrated rush of air leaving his nose. ”Like I said, I’ll be right back.”  He shakes his head as he goes, throwing the pair another pointed glare before he exits the kitchen.
The moment Yoongi steps out the door; Taehyung and Jimin’s eyes seem to snap to each other like magnets. It’s nothing more than a quick glance, but even just that brief contact carries enough weight to make the alarms in your head blare.
You whip your head back to the sink, hoping they didn’t notice you watching them. Sending out a silent wish for Yoongi to return within the next ten seconds, you resume cleaning the vegetables in front of you, praying the pair will leave you be if you look busy enough.
Only a slow second passes before Jimin’s airy voice calls out to you from the kitchen table.
“Baby, is Yoongi hyung working you too hard? You know you can just relax and let us take care of things, right?”
You stiffen at the question, muscles locking up under the wave of tension that grips your body. Forcing your hands to keep moving, you let out a strained answer in return. ”I-I don’t mind. I like helping out.”
“Ah. I see.”
You can't be sure, not with your back turned and his expression hidden from view, but you swear for a split second that Jimin sounded jealous.
“So, you’re enjoying your time here, then?” He asks, voice deceptively calm.
Nervous, you wet your lips, scrubbing harder at the squeaky clean carrot in your hand. What game is he playing?
“Of course.” You say, proud of the way your voice doesn’t falter.
Jimin hums. The sound is accompanied by slow rhythmic taps against the kitchen table, almost as if he's unknowingly thrumming his fingers as he thinks. Except – the motion is too controlled, too deliberate.
He’s trying to set you on edge.
“There’s nothing you’d want to change? You like being here with us?”
It’s a trap, you know it is, but how can you do anything else besides walk right into it? You can’t tell Jimin the truth. Not when you’ve already come this far.
Jimin must revel in the knowledge that he’s got you cornered.
You clutch the edge of the sink as a chair screeches behind you, soft footsteps padding across the floor until you can feel someone hovering behind you. You squeeze your eyes shut as Taehyung’s familiar cologne invades your nose. You can’t focus with him, who’s practically danger personified, standing so close.
What’s taking Yoongi so long?
Gritting your teeth, you slowly place the clean carrot on Yoongi’s cutting board, praying Taehyung doesn’t notice the way your hand trembles. Jimin asked you a question, but you can’t seem to recall what it was, his voice all muddled together in your head. Flustered, the only thing you can seem to focus on are the soft puffs of air hitting your hair, Taehyung quite literally breathing down your neck. You must take too long because you suddenly find yourself being spun around, the world moving too fast until you find yourself caged between Taehyung’s arms, pressed against the counter.
You jerk back, surprised, heart in your throat as Taehyung’s intense eyes stare you down.
“Answer Jiminie's question, babe.”
You hold his gaze, your skin crawling as you muster up a shaky smile.
“Y-Yes. I didn’t see it at first but I understand it now, why you all did it.” The words are painful to push out, your tongue hesitating to curve around your blatant lies. ”I’m h-happy here – with you.”
Jimin makes a delighted sound, but it’s just as fake as the bravado on your face.
“Are you now? That’s great, baby. I guess none of us are making you uncomfortable, then? We haven’t been ah, overstepping, any boundaries?”
“Of course not.”
Taehyung cocks his head, face flat as he asks. ”So you don’t like Jungkook and Yoongi better than the rest of us?”
“What?” You breathe, taken aback.
You can’t believe your plan might have actually worked.
It’s been a few days since your outing with Jungkook and you’ve been nervously waiting for one of them to bring it up. There’s no way they didn’t wring him out for details afterwards. Maybe they haven’t caught on what you’ve been doing at all, too busy stewing in their jealousy of the others?
“You seem to have grown … close, lately.” Taehyung frowns. ”So, do you? Like them more than us?”
You hate them all equally.
“No.” You’re quick to shake your head. The longer you manage to convince them you care for all of them whilst giving a few special treatment, the better. It’s bound to cause some friction between them, no matter how close they are.
Taehyung lights up, his boxy smile coming in at full force at your rebuttal.
A cough from Jimin is all it takes for it to disappear.
A shiver racks down your spine as you watch the light dim just as quickly as it arrived, his grin faltering as suspicion seems to creep in. He inches closer, scrutinizing your face as he asks, ”Y/n, do you love us?”
“I–” You swallow thickly.
You assumed they would ask at some point but not right now. Not when you’re already struggling to keep your panic at bay and your head on straight. You feel like you’re walking on a tightrope, the edges fraying at both sides.
Still, you manage to force out a shaky, ”I’m your soulmate, how can I not?”
That seems to be enough to placate him, Taehyung’s smile returning once again. This time though, his lips stretch into something more sinister than kind. It makes you realize your mistake a little too late – you never should have worded it as a challenge.
“Yeah?” Taehyung leans in, eyebrows quirking as his gaze dips down to your lips. ”Prove it then.”
You freeze as Taehyung’s hands find your waist, long fingers holding you firmly in place. Your mind races as his face draws closer and closer, Taehyung darting his tongue out to wet his lips.
They tricked, lured you, right into this. You never had the upper hand. It seems that the only person who’s been played is you.
Your eyes widen in alarm as his flutter closed, gaze darting around wildly as you look for a way to escape. There’s no natural way for you to duck away from Taehyung, no lies that will make sense. They’ve caught you and you have no doubt they’ll tattle to the others if you don’t kiss him.
The rational part of your brain is yelling at you to just do it! – you’ve come too far to throw all that progress away over a simple kiss. But the rest of you aches, mourns, the idea. To give yourself away so easily to someone you hate so deeply. Taehyung may see someone he loves, someone he thinks he knows; but all you can see as you look at his face is anxiety and terror; your sanity slipping through your fingers like sand.
He’s so close, brows starting to furrow in confusion as he never meets your lips, unaware of how you’ve been pulling back to keep your distance. Your neck is starting to cramp from the odd angle, hands shaking by your sides as Taehyung’s sweater brushes against them.
He lets out an annoyed breath, the fingers on your waist tightening as if he’s going to pull you against his chest to get you closer.
You can’t. You can’t, you can’t–
Your hands fly out, pushing Taehyung away. You feel cracked open, panicked, the fear and anger you’ve been suppressing ever since you woke up here spilling out and engulfing you from head to toe.
The force causes Taehyung to stumble back, shocked, until he hits the edge of the kitchen table. He blinks at you like he doesn’t understand what’s going on, like he doesn’t know what he just tried to do. He raises a hand as if he’s going to reach out for you, come back, despite your rejection.
They’ll never change.
They’ll never understand.
A sickening wave of terror crashes over you, mixing with the panic as it builds and builds and builds– until you finally, simply – break.
“Do not touch me.” You let out a shrill scream, a note of hysteria colouring your voice. ”How could I ever love you, when this is how you treat me? When you’ve ruined my life?”
Straightening up, you step away from the counter, pulse roaring in your ears as you stare Taehyung down. "The thought makes me sick. Our soulbond is a mistake, a cruel joke, and I don’t accept it. I’d rather die than fall in love with the likes of you – any of you."
Taehyung looks stricken. He must’ve known you weren’t completely truthful if he decided to scheme with Jimin, and yet, he clearly didn’t quite grasp just how vehemently you actually hate him – them. Underneath the panic, there’s a sick sense of satisfaction curling in your gut as Taehyung’s throat keeps bobbing, his dark eyes welling up under your hard glare.
A heavy silence settles over the kitchen as your voice tapers off. Yoongi’s soup has begun to boil and sputter, but you can barely hear it over your own ragged breaths. The burst of bravery you had is already dying off, leaving you trembling in place as it dawns on you just how badly you’ve fucked up.
You startle as Jimin’s low whistle fills the air.
“There she is.”
You jerk your head in his direction, finding Jimin languidly leaning back in a chair, seemingly unaffected by everything you just hurtled at them. You can detect a hint of annoyance, like he’s angry he was proven right, but the smirk pulling at his mouth speaks louder. Jimin looks amused, excited, that you finally showed your true colours.
“What?” You seethe.
“I knew it.” Jimin’s gaze feels like tiny knives, the coldness in them a terrible juxtaposition to the growing smile on his face. ”You’re not broken in at all, are you, baby?”
Bile shoots up your throat so fast you’re surprised you manage to not throw up. You clench you teeth, hands shaking with rage by your sides.
You want to punch him so, so badly.
Even though you know you’ll only end up hurting yourself in the process, you still find yourself moving forward, vision zeroed in on Jimin's gloating expression.
You’ve only taken a few steps when Yoongi rushes back into the room, Hoseok hot on his heels. They both look you up and down, checking for any visible injuries, before they take in the fury on your face.
“What’s going on?” Yoongi asks. His concern morphs into anger as he looks from you to Jimin and Taehyung, their wildly different expressions painting quite the story.
You have enough wits left to know that you need to leave before Jimin opens his mouth. Yoongi may be annoyed with him now for upsetting you, but you’re sure that’ll change once he hears what you just threw in their faces. It doesn’t take a genius to know that this is going to turn out very bad for you.
You take your chance as Hoseok hisses a low 'Park Jimin’ under his breath, sidestepping Yoongi as he stalks over to Jimin’s chair.
Bolting out of the room, you manage to catch Yoongi so off guard that he doesn’t have time to stop you, and Hoseok is too far away to grab you even if he wanted to. You run past Seokjin in the hallway, surprise blooming on his face as you enter your room, slamming the door shut behind you.
Panicked, you grab the desk chair, propping it under the door handle to hold it shut. You have no key, nothing to lock it with, so you hurriedly shove whatever furniture you can up to the door, creating a makeshift barricade you know won’t hold them back for very long once they hear the full story from Jimin.
You fist your hair, eyes burning with tears as you pace around the room. You flinch at the loud yelling carrying all the way from the kitchen, six voices rising and falling as they argue heatedly. The door muffles the sounds, but you can still hear your name being shouted back and fourth, over and over again.
Your chest feels so tight you can barely breathe, lungs refusing to expand as terror clings to your body like a second skin. Everything you worked for over the last month was all for nothing, there’s no way they’ll ever trust you after this. You stumble forward, gripping the edge of the bed to steady yourself. There’s no doubt in your mind that they'll do something more drastic to feed their fantasies, that they’ll chain you up somewhere and lose themselves so deep in their delusions that their last bits of sanity will slip away if it means they’ll get to have you.
“No, no, no…” You let out a muffled cry, silently sobbing into your hand as you keep pacing around the room, desperate to find anything that might help you.
You nearly collapse to the floor when you notice something shiny poking out from under your bed, the metal gleaming in the muted light. The bookmark. It must’ve fallen out when you pushed your bedside table over to the door.
Rushing over to snatch it up, you weigh the cool surface in your hand as you spin around to face the window.
You’ve already doomed yourself by blowing up at Jimin.
There’s nothing left for you to lose.
Heart in your throat, you hurry over to the window. You find the small patch you have left, using all the force you can muster to quickly chip away the last of the paint sealing it shut. You dig it in, gritting your jaw as your palm aches with every hit. The yelling in the kitchen hasn’t seized so they must be too engrossed in their arguing to notice the faint pain.
You drop the bookmark to the floor as the last touch of dried paint is gone, gripping the ledge of the window as you start pushing upwards.
It’s not moving.
“Come on.” You grunt, exhaling harshly through your nose as your arms begin to burn under the strain.
You step back, giving your muscles a moment of rest before you resume your grip, putting all your remaining strength into one final push. You’re not sure what does it, maybe it's your adrenaline giving you one last boost, or maybe the universe hears your whispered please against the glass, but the window groans – and opens.
You blink at the fresh air that rushes in, in disbelief that it actually worked. You can get out of here.
You can run.
Wasting no time, you throw a leg out of the window, twisting around to grip the ledge as you carefully lower yourself to the ground. The cabin is only slightly raised from the ground but this isn’t the time to be hasty. Not when you can taste freedom in the crisp autumn air, the dark woods around you welcoming you in with barren branches. If you hurt yourself now, it’s game over.
You wince as your feet reach the freezing ground, the cold seeping right through your woollen socks. You hold your breath, sticking close to the wall and hunching down whenever you pass by a window. You’re going in the opposite direction of the kitchen, but you can’t take any chances.
It’s only when you’ve peeked around the edge of the house, making sure the coast is clear, that you sprint directly for the woods surrounding you.
You hit it at an angle, making sure you won’t be seen from the front of the house while still keeping yourself somewhat parallel to the dirt road you noticed before. It’s too risky to use it, your recapture almost a certain thing if you do. There’s a greater chance of shaking them off under the covers of low branches and fallen trees, so you stick to the dark woods, knowing it’s your ticket out.
You duck under a branch, breath fogging up the air in front of you as you run. Everything aches and burns, but you push through it with clenched teeth, ignoring the taste of blood in your mouth. Being held in the cabin for a month has ruined your stamina, your body protesting the intense movement more than normal but your flight instinct is enough to keep you on your feet. You can barely feel them underneath you; the wet mud coating your socks has chilled you to the bone.
Wheezing, you push a thorny bush out of your way, not even registering the deep cuts they leave on your hands. The pain doesn’t matter. You’d sacrifice a limb if it meant you would get away from them.
You’re not sure how long you’ve been running, or how far you’ve gone, but it’s not far enough. Not when you can still make out the faint, panicked screams of your name echoing through the night.
Their calls makes your stomach twist in fear, a terrible reminder of what awaits you if they catch up with you. They must know what direction you’re heading in by now, but you intend to use your head start for what it’s worth. You’re going to let the adrenaline pumping through your veins take you as far as you can go; until your body collapses, or you’re somewhere safe. Whichever comes first.
It feels like you’ve run for an eternity through the woods by the time you see gravel turning into concrete.
You halt by the tree line, clinging on to a low branch as you gasp for air. Your lungs are burning, collapsing, and the air you gulp down stings with every breath. You’re so tired you can barely stand anymore, and yet, you know you need to keep moving. You need to reach the small cluster of lights twinkling far, far away in the distance.
You press your forehead against the cold bark, hoping the dark spots clouding your vision will settle down if you can only catch your breath. Startled, you wince as something light floods through your eyelids, gaze snapping open to find headlights illuminating the dark roads in front of you.
You sway on your feet, staring at the car driving towards you in utter shock. It’s coming from the direction of the city, which means it can’t be them.
You’re saved.
You’re saved.
You stumble into the road, waving your hands desperately as you yell for the car to stop, stop, stop, please stop!
The driver hits the breaks hard, the harsh headlights blinding you as the tires screech against the road. You raise a hand, shielding your eyes from the bright lights. The driver’s startled scream is muffled by the car, the vehicle groaning as it’s forced to come to an abrupt stop a few feet away.
You squint as the driver’s door is flung open, the outline of a man scrambling out. He grips the edge of the door, chest heaving with what you assume is quick breaths from the near miss he just had. The apology for scaring him is on the tip of your tongue, but before you can say anything, the man releases a harsh exhale into the night, the car lights illuminating his breath as it drifts upwards.
“Y/n?"
Your heart promptly drops to your stomach.
Namjoon.
He looms over the car as he shuts the door, the soft click loud as a gunshot in the quiet air.
It can’t be, he – he left yesterday. You allowed him to hug you for far longer than you liked, all because he was supposed to be gone for two days. Not one. Namjoon wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near the cabin today. It didn’t even graze your mind that the driver could be him – that fate could be so cruel to lead you right back to them.
You slowly lower your hand, a new surge of panic building inside of you.
You can run, but you’re tired, and Namjoon is not. There’s no doubt in your mind that he’ll catch you before you even make it off the road. It’s not like you can knock him out and steal the car either, you wouldn’t have been able to overpower him even if you were freshly rested. He’ll drag you back to that cabin kicking and screaming, or – you have one last thing you can try.
Dread weighs you down as you rush forward, making every step feel slow and sluggish, wrong, as you propel yourself right into Namjoon’s arms.
“Namjoon,” You choke, clawing the back of his coat as you press yourself closer, tighter. ”Please – please, take me away from here. I only want to be with y-you, not the others. Don’t make me go back, please.”
“Darling,” Namjoon breathes, utterly overwhelmed. The strong arms wrapping around your back feel like steel bars, caging you against his chest, sealing your fate. ”I don’t understand, Y/n, what–"
“I need you. Only you.”
You just need him to accept, to take you away. He knows the others, knows where they’ll look first and what they’ll do, and once you’re sure you’re safe from them, you’ll figure out a way to escape from Namjoon too.
You flinch at the sound of an incoming call connecting to the car’s speakers, the volume loud even through closed doors. Pulling back, you twist your head just enough to glance at the name displayed across the media system.
JIMIN.
The call disconnects when it isn’t picked up, and your blood runs cold as another one immediately comes in, Hoseok’s name replacing Jimin’s.
They surely can’t know that you’re with Namjoon right now, they’re probably calling to let him know you’re gone, but it only ramps up your nerves, lighting another spark on the fuse that’s already burning up too fast.
Namjoon is staring at the same spot you are, expression tight. The furrow between his brows grows deeper the more he thinks, and you need him to not to that. You need him to trust you. Forget the rest.
“Namjoon,” You whisper sweetly, smiling through the tremor in your voice. You reach up to cup his face, turning his full attention back to you with an icy caress. His skin feels burning hot against you chilled skin, a low buzz spreading from the tips of your fingers all the way up your arm the longer you touch him.
Namjoon looks at you with wide eyes, his lips parted in shock at your willing affection. Everything about him is tense and unsure, but he still leans into your palm, seeking comfort in your touch.
“The others ... they can’t c-care for me the same way that you do. You’re the only soulmate I need, the only one I want. Won’t you please take me away? I really l-like you.”
You let your voice grow softer and softer the closer you lean in, your last words practically whispered into his lips. Namjoon shivers, his dark eyes turning hazy at the close proximity, at how his dreams are so close to coming true.
Nausea swirls in your stomach as his hot breath spills across your mouth, your heart thundering in your chest. Everything just feels so numb, frozen; your emotions too frayed and exhausted to act up, and your body too chilled to move. Still, you use the shaking hand behind Namjoon’s back to pull him closer, your iced lips clumsily grazing the side of his mouth.
This is it, you think as Namjoon’s eyes flutter closed and his breath hitches, you have him.
You just need a little more, just one proper kiss to convince him and then your escape is secured.
You’re just about to inch off the ground to make sure you find his lips when something pained flashes across Namjoon’s face, and he leans back, out of reach.
Confused, you watch as he releases a deep sigh, turning his head to gaze up at the night sky. He watches it for a second, seemingly finding whatever answer he was reaching for, and looks back at you.
“You’re lying to me, aren’t you?” Namjoon asks, his dark eyes brimming with hurt.
“W-what? No!” You scramble to pull him close, both hands tugging on the lapel of his coat, but Namjoon doesn’t budge.
“I want to believe you but I can’t, darling.” He shakes his head. ”I have to bring you back.”
“I can’t! Please, I can’t go back, this isn’t what I want–” You plead, desperate, as you try to push away from Namjoon’s chest.
He simply tightens his grip in response, pulling you flush against him until you can feel his heart racing alongside your own. He shushes any attempts of begging, rocking you back and forth as you heave in his arms.
"I would love to whisk you away and keep you all to myself, but it wouldn’t be fair to the others, Y/n. You’re their soulmate, too.”
Namjoon’s voice sounds murky and muffled, insignificant, in comparison to the terror gripping your body.
You can’t go back.
Whatever it is they have in store for you, you’d rather die than experience it.
“What about me?!” You sob, hot tears burning down your cheeks as you weakly hit Namjoon’s chest. ”How is any of this fair to me?”
Namjoon pauses, thinks, before he rests his head on top of yours; nodding into your hair as he says, ”It’s not."
“It’s not fair to you, but this is the best we can do. We’re trying, Y/n, and it's about time you start doing that too.”
Something in you shatters.
Your heart, you think. Maybe your mind.
They don’t care. No matter what you do or what you say, if it doesn’t match the reality they’ve made up in their heads, they won’t care.
You’re on your own. A scared little lamb clever enough to escape the slaughterhouse, but not smart enough to avoid the wolf. And now it’s bringing you back to be eaten, torn apart, by his whole pack.
Your body can’t handle the myriad of emotions that crash over you all at once. You slump in Namjoon’s arms, legs giving out underneath you. He holds you close, murmuring something you can’t make out as you stare up at the night sky with glossy, unseeing eyes.
You’re just so tired.
The past year has been one big trauma, one you never processed, and now, you got a taste of freedom only for it to be crushed under the tires of Namjoon’s car.
You’re exhausted.
Your vision tilts as you’re lifted of the ground, your numb feet barely feeling the ground leaving them.
You’re cold.
The night sky grows darker and darker, swallowing up the stars one by one as you’re carried around the side of the car. The darkness fills your sight until it’s the only thing you can see, a blast of warm air engulfing your body as a door clicks open.
A low apology is whispered into the car. Dry lips press against your forehead.
You give up.

A/N 2: Part 2 to this oneshot can be found here.
Every so often, you swear you could smell brownies. Sometimes, if you concentrated hard enough, you could hear the music he was listening to faintly, as if someone was playing it quietly in the other room. There were times during the day you felt complete exhaustion with a dash of exhilaration, like you just finished a strenuous workout.
All of these odd little moments throughout your day were all signs of your soulmate.
You’ve never met, but you knew from those experiences that they seemed lovely. You wanted to meet your soulmate ever since you were little. But growing up, you let such a childish fantasy slip away for more practical pursuits. In other words, school and work and real friendships came before a person you didn’t know. Despite your maturing, you never did forget your soulmate and the experiences you shared every single day.
Sometimes, when you were alone, often before going to sleep, you wondered what your soulmate experienced from your life. Did they feel the joy you felt when you hung out with your friends? Did they hear that new song from your favorite band that you’ve been listening to on repeat? Did they taste the spicy dish you couldn’t get enough of for dinner? These kinds of questions made you endlessly curious, and you kept them all to yourself.
As curious as you were about your soulmate, you weren’t going around trying to find them. They could be all the way on the other side of the world. They could be a horrible person or uninterested in finding romance. For now, your curiosity was just that: simple curiosity. Not a reason to jump on the next plane to somewhere, in hopes of finding something that probably wasn’t there. Everything was just fine just the way it was and you were going to keep it that way.
For Felix, things weren’t just fine.
He was dying to meet his soulmate. Ever since the first shared experience, tasting homemade cookies, he has been obsessed with his soulmate. Were they kind and passionate? Were they snarky and mean? Were they quiet and skittish? He needed to know everything! If he could, he would jump on the next plane to somewhere just to find what he’s been looking for all his life.
“Felix!”
The poor boy snapped out of his daze. “Huh, what?”
Hyunjin started laughing along with Seungmin. “You’re in your own little world again.”
“Ah, sorry.” He blushed, his hair flopping in front of his face.
“Were you thinking about them again?” Minho asked, a smug smirk tugging at his lips.
He didn’t say anything, instead covering his face with his hands. He wanted to say so what? It’s hard not to think about them when he could sense them in every moment of his life. They were always there, lingering in the back of his mind. And though he would never admit it, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“C’mon guys, give him a break.” Chris slung an arm over his shoulder. “Just because you guys can ignore your soulmate marks, doesn’t mean Felix can.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes and Hyunjin subconsciously touched the lock of hair that looked different from the rest of his hair. Minho’s hand even lightly touched his wrist, where the concealer he put on to cover the black mark was starting to flake off.
Out of all of Stray Kids, Chris was the only one who didn’t have his mark anymore, the timer on his wrist a faded zero. Jeongin swore he was close to meeting his soulmate once when he was younger, but everyone called his bluff. Felix would never tell him but he was envious of Chris. He was lucky to have met his soulmate and was hopelessly in love and devoted to them. What Felix wouldn’t give to have that same kind of love for himself. If only he could find them. But he was too busy to go looking for them.
A knock at the door stopped them all. In came the stylists, with the head stylist bowing respectfully at front.
“Excuse us. Are you ready?”
Minho nodded. “Yes, we’re ready when you are.”
“Excellent. Oh, and I would like to introduce you to the newest member of the style team, Y/n L/n.”
Felix glanced at the new higher and felt his cheeks warm at the sight. You were beautiful. Absolutely stunning. But besides how beautiful you looked, there was a thought, a feeling in the back of his mind that there was more to you then you let on. Something that made him feel like you two were going to be close. He had never felt such a feeling before. He wasn’t sure if he should ignore it or pursue it.
“Felix?”
He snapped out of his thoughts as the head stylist smiled brightly at him. “Pardon me. But I was wondering if it was alright if Y/n helped you with your makeup today?”
Not trusting his voice, which he was sure would come out far breathier than he’d want, he nodded. The head stylist nodded, smiling brightly. She gestured for you to begin before helping Hyunjiin hide the lock of hair that didn’t match the rest of his hair.
You smiled and his breath caught in his throat. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Felix. I hope I do a good job for you today.”
He nodded. “I’m sure you will.”
Your smile brightened and he felt his heart skip a beat. You were truly a vision and you seemed very kind. He wanted to talk to you, wanted to learn everything he could about you, but his words were caught in his throat. It was like your very presence overwhelmed him in a good way. While he felt dumb for not being able to speak to you, he also felt truly at peace with you gently applying his makeup. It was a nice feeling.
Felix watched as you carefully chose what to use and the look you wanted to give him. You seemed to give special attention to what products you chose, as if one wrong move would ruin the whole thing. But he would let you apply, take off, and apply makeup on him over and over again if it meant he could just be next to you. Everything you did was mesmerizing and he couldn’t get enough of it. These thoughts and feelings surprised him with their intensity, but it wasn’t unwelcome. He couldn’t stop the small smile on his lips during the whole process.
“I hope you don’t mind if I’m light on foundation.” You mumbled. “I think your freckles are lovely and I’d hate to cover them up.”
Again his heart was doing tricks in his chest. He nodded, “Alright. Thank you.”
Your smile turned shy. “You’re very welcome.”
The rest of the time passed in quiet contentment. It didn’t bother him that much, even though he really wanted to speak with you. However, he would rather your first moments together be comfortable just like this. It was nice.
Of course when the two of you were done and you moved on to help finish Jeongin’s makeup, Chris nudged his shoulder.
“What was that all about?”
“What was what about?”
“You know what I’m talking about.” He nodded in your direction. “You were practically giving them puppy dog eyes the whole time they did your makeup. So I ask again: what was that all about?”
He shook his head, letting his hair slip in front of his face a little. “It was nothing. I was just making sure they did a good job.”
“Oh yeah sure.” He rolled his eyes. “Do you think they could be your soulmate?”
Felix felt his brain jolt and restart at the question. “Dude, shut up! Whether or not they’re my soulmate is irrelevant. They were just doing their job, that’s it. Besides, there would be no way of knowing for sure if they were my soulmate or not.”
Chris shrugged. “Whatever you say, my friend. All I’m saying is, if I were you, I would try talking to them. It seemed like they liked you as well.”
Glancing back at you, finishing up Jeongin’s makeup, he sighed. Was Chris right? Did you really like him as much as he did? Did you want to be around him all the time and learn everything about him? Did being apart ache like no other? Were you his soulmate?
He knew there was no way of knowing, at least not without sounding crazy. He couldn’t just go up to you and ask if you shared any of the same experiences he did throughout his entire life. But even if you weren’t, did he have to end up with the one he was supposed to be with? He’s heard of soulmates who didn’t get along or just stayed friends. All he knew was he wanted to talk to you again, whether you were his soulmate or not.
There was another knock at the door and a stagehand poked his head in. “Five minutes till showtime, Stray Kids.”
They thanked him and all eight boys rushed around for last minute details. Seungmin was putting in his contact lenses that made his eyes the same color and Minho was applying more foundation to the black mark. Changbin adjusted his skin tone compression shirt, just in case his soulmate started writing all over his arms in the middle of performance again.
You added the last bit of makeup on Jeongin before allowing him to grab his in-ear piece. Now that you had a moment to yourself, Felix touched your shoulder, causing you to flinch. He brushed off the feeling of surprise as it felt like a cold breeze hit his back.
“Can I speak to you after our performance?”
You nodded. “Of course. I’ll wait for you.”
He ignored the flipping of his stomach at your words. Instead, he lined up with the rest of Stray Kids and followed them to the stage. Taking a deep breath, he joined them on stage to the cheers of their fans. He smiled brightly and waved to all the Stay, throwing a few hearts their way. A sense of completeness and satisfaction filled him as he got into place. This was where he belonged. This is who he is. He is Felix Lee of Stray Kids, and he was born to perform.
As the song began and he started to dance, his usual sense of excitement and fun was replaced with something else: surprise. He faltered for only a second, trying to figure out the source of this new feeling. He glanced around the audience before looking to the sides of the stage.
That’s when he locked eyes with you and understood.
You were feeling surprised. You must have felt his mood when he was in performance mode. You must have felt a lot more than just that.
But besides all of that, Felix knew Chris was right all along. You were his soulmate.
And he couldn’t wait to talk to you after the show.

Seonghwa x Y/N: Angst & potential cheating
S/N - Fake GG
Synopsis: You’re madly in love with the man of your dreams, but a phone call changes everything, causing your life to spiral and your worst fears to be met.
Another Saturday night alone you thought to yourself, pouring a large glass of wine and making your way to the sofa. Silence echoed throughout your apartment which was caused you to slightly shiver as you sunk back into the chair.
Dating an idol wasn’t easy, but you loved Seonghwa so much that not much else mattered. There was a lot of lonely nights like this one, but when you were with him all of that was forgotten and you just embraced being in love. Was your relationship normal? of course not, but for most idols and other celebrities, a normal relationship isn’t possible, so you just have to make do with what you have.
You pick up the remote and switch channel to watch the award show, smiling as you see the boys all dressed up, including your handsome boyfriend in his fitted suit. Surrounding them was a lot of well known groups, smiling for the camera’s and waving to the fans earning them loud cheers and cries. You noticed that the newly debuted girl group W1SH was sat next to Ateez. You couldn’t really help but watch them. Their sequined outfits fit to their petite bodies like skin and bright silky hair adorned their heads. You realised you weren't the only was fixated on them, as you noticed many other idols sneaking glances at their beauty.
Recently a story had come out shipping Seonghwa with the groups leader Minali. When you first read about it you couldn’t help the anxiety that hit you, Minali was beautiful. She had long auburn hair that cascaded down her back in loose curls and bright doe eyes that drew you in. Seonghwa laughed off the story saying it was ridiculous and that you shouldn’t believe such things, squashing any fear you may of felt... that was until this moment. You leaned closer to the TV with wide eyes watching the looks she aimed at your boyfriend, fluttering her eyelashes and smiling in his direction. Now usually this wouldn’t bother you as with your experience of dating Seonghwa, many girls made advances but this felt different, he was acknowledging her flirtatious looks and you could see the blush rising on his cheeks.
‘Calm down y/n’ you scold yourself, ‘he’s probably just feeling nervous’. You walk to the kitchen again to pour another glass of wine in the hopes that it calms your nerves and settles your now pounding heart that was trying to jump through your t-shirt.
The rest of the awards show went on smoothly, though you continued to notice small glances between your boyfriend and the pretty leader. At this point you were sat crossed legged in front of the TV screen with your nose almost pressed up against the glass, trying to figure out if your eyes were playing tricks on you or if indeed your world was being enticed by another.
Once the ceremony had ended and the group interviews started, giving the idols time to thank their fans for helping them with the awards. The next group appeared causing the presenter to cheer into the microphone.
‘Welcome Ateez, a big win for you guys tonight. Hongjoong please tell me how you’re feeling’ the interviewer asks, to which the leader answers beautifully with a well versed response on their evenings achievements.
‘Now Seonghwa, we all couldn't help but notice the tension between you and Minali’ the interviewers laughs, ‘is there anything going on there?’ this question makes your boyfriend to blush and look down at his feet, ‘No comment’ he responds which causes the people in the room to gasp loudly.
You don’t realise how tense your body is at this point as a sinking feeling tugs inside your chest. You continue to stare at the screen questioning whether you had heard it wrong and your boyfriend of 2 years didn’t just say that. You’re quickly pulled out of your trance as you notice W1SH were now chatting with the reporter and the same question is asked to Minali. ‘Come on Minali can you tell us if something is going on with you and Seonghwa?’... you wait with bated breath for her response as you see a smirk playing on her lips. ‘I don’t like to kiss and tell’ she answers.
You turn the TV off with anger and hurt running through your veins and start pacing your apartment back and forth. Seonghwa wouldn’t cheat on you, you try to tell yourself. He’s not that type of person. You couldn’t seem to wrap your head around what you had saw, nothing was adding up, yet everything started to make sense. Maybe the late night practices and overnight stays at the dorm was all just lies. Was he with her? Was she the one he held at night whilst you slept alone holding his pillow close just to get his scent.
You needed answers, so you picked up your phone and dialled his number, the show finished a while ago so he had no reason not to answer. After several rings the number connects and your heart sinks. ‘Hello Seonghwa’s phone’ a sweet voice says. The voice sounded all too familiar but you couldn’t help yourself but question if you were right. ‘Who is this?’ you questioned. ‘This is Minali, who is this?’ she responds.
You couldn’t speak, the words were lost in your mouth and you had to bite your tongue to stop the sob threatening to escape. ‘Hwa, there’s someone on the phone for you’ the voice sings out to your boyfriend, but at this point you didn’t need to speak to him, you had the answer you needed to know and you hang up the phone and launch it across the room.
You slump to the ground, the pain in your chest is growing stronger by the second as you feel your world collapse around you. Everything you shared together was a lie. You fought for this relationship, spent endless nights alone waiting for a person who was too busy loving someone else. You were done fighting, done being lied to and feeling disappointed. You felt so much at once that you started to feel nothing. He betrayed you and he hurt you, just to make himself feel better.
You pull your suitcase from under the bed and start throwing all your belongings in at once. You can barely see what you’re putting in at this point as your eyes are cluttered with the tears you couldn’t hold in. It hits you all at once how much stuff in this apartment was your shared memories, from the pictures hanging on the wall of you both to the pretty jewellery box he bought you for your birthday. None of that was coming with you, because leaving him meant leaving all those memories behind that were now tainted with infidelity. All those memories were now lies, you thought to yourself as you finish packing up your things. Your phone still laid bare with no traces of texts or calls, he didn’t care that he hurt you or broke your heart.
You stand in your apartment taking one last look at the place you called home. It’s almost eerie how empty it feels without your belongings, making you realise that this was never really a couples home, but the home of a lonely person constantly waiting for her lover who only ever saw her as an option. With that you turn your back on the pain and close the door behind you, and the only traces of you that are left behind are broken memories and a note for the person who hurt you the most.
‘I hope she was worth it’.

First Love: Prologue || H.RJ
Tumblr media
pairing :: sub!renjun x afab!reader (+ a hint of chenle x reader but not really)
warnings :: first love au, sexual banter (it’s just chenle moaning as a joke), light profanity
word count :: 1k | not beta read
sypnosis :: In a world where your family can see who their first love is going to be, you are unable to love anyone until you end up with that person. Not a big deal, right? The only problem is that your first love is moving and you only have a week to make him fall in love.
or; my take on the soulmate au

prologue
Tumblr media
First loves have always been essential to romantic classics. Some weren’t concerned- marrying your first love was rare. To others, there was nothing more special.
Not to sound corny, but you were different. With romance, you stand out from the crowd. It was something straight out of fanfiction.
You could tell when you met your first love. It was an indescribable feeling. A small heart would appear on your wrist and theirs, which they rarely noticed.
The ability came with a couple of drawbacks. There was no avoiding the relationship. Fate would bring the two of you together.
However, this never guaranteed a good relationship. If you were being honest, the so-called talent wasn’t very beneficial. In reality, not one person in your family stayed with their first love. That was another downfall to the ability; you weren’t supposed to stay together, which was different from having a soulmate. The moment fate changed, their heart would turn into a mole.
Most of your family had their experience when in their teens, the perfect age of experimentation. Then there’s you come in.
Here you were, 22 and loveless, but you didn’t worry about it. You lived an ordinary life.
After years without a lover, you began to believe that this whole “first love” thing wasn’t true. Besides, it’s not like your life was a cheesy romance drama. A gift like that seemed nothing short of preposterous.
Startled by a sudden loud noise, your thoughts had been disturbed. You turned and saw your friend, frozen in shock, standing above a pile of shattered glass.
“Jesus christ, Chenle.” You breathed out, looking around the cafe. “You’re lucky that there’s no one in here right now. I’m surprised that you’re not fired yet.”
Chenle rolled his eyes and went to grab a broom. “Whatever, y/n. You know you love me.” He said with a smirk.
You laughed at his antics. What he said was true. No matter how stupid Chenle acted, he was still your best friend.
After Chenle nearly slipped on the glass, he shot you a dirty look.
“Are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna help?” He asked, beckoning you over.
While the two of you cleaned, it was only natural for a conversation to start up. It started slowly at first, but eventually, your family came up.
“Say, y/n, have you fallen in love yet?” He questioned teasingly. You narrowed your eyes, ready to respond, but he cut you off. “Yeah, yeah. You’ll know when you see them.”
You pushed him playfully, resulting in an exaggerated whine.
“What about you, lover boy?” You inquired with a sly smile. “What about your roommate? The one that’s moving out next week?”
“Oh, Renjun?” He responded, scrunching his nose.
“That’s the one. When do I get to meet him?”
Chenle was about to deny your requests, but paused in reconsideration.
“Actually,” he started, “He’s stopping by soon.”
Surprised, you looked at Chenle. “Oh, for real? Have fun with that.”
Annoyed, he sighed. “You can have him. He’s cute and all, but so not my type.”
“And what makes you think he’s mine?” You asked, raising an eyebrow and taking a seat.
“Dude, I dunno-“
The bell rang as the cafe door opened, and a cold gust of wind blew into the cafe.
That’s when he walked in. The prettiest boy you’ve ever seen. It wasn’t love at first sight, but something close to that. The boy had soft brown hair and dark eyes that sparkled in the light. His bangs lay lightly against his forehead and down to his eyes. He wore a little fur hat and a small smile that pulled you in. His cheeks were pink from the cold weather.
The rest of the interaction went by quickly. You watched as the boy hugged Chenle before making his way over to you. As soon as you locked eyes with him, you felt a strange wave of warmth wash over you. Your fingers grew numb and your wrist began to burn.
“So you’re y/n? I’m Renjun, Chenle’s roommate.”
The rest of the meeting went by quickly. You exchanged a couple of words, and then he was gone. As soon as the door closed, you turned to Chenle, your eyes wide.
“That’s him.” You gasped.
“What?” Chenle asked, confused.
“He’s the one.” You said.
“Y/n, what are you talking about?” Chenle began, but then looked into your eyes and down at your wrist. “No fucking way.”
“Okay, so let me get this straight. There’s a heart permanently tattooed on your wrist because you saw some dude that just so happens to be my roommate that’s literally about to move away. Now you have to date him before he’s gone or else nothing in your love life will work out until years later when you run into him, but you’ll never actually end up with him so your heart is broken either way? And it’s gonna crush you so your love life will suck anyways because fate will make you fall in love with him even though you aren’t in love with him now? And it’s not supposed to be a big deal?”
You thought about it before saying, “well when you say it like that… I don't really know what to do.”
“Why don’t you just seduce him or something?” Chenle suggested, walking over to you. “Try pinning him against the couch.”
“That’s cheesy as hell.” You said, crossing your arms.
“So? Renjun’s never dated someone before. He probably loves that kind of shit.’’
You rolled your eyes and pinned Chenle down, his head hitting the cushion.
“Have you fallen for me yet?” You asked jokingly.
He laughed before putting on his best Renjun impression.
“Oh god y/n,” he moaned as you snickered, “you’re soooooo hot.”
You heard someone walk into the living room, and you and Chenle jerked your heads towards the intruder.
Renjun’s eyes widened, and already red ears grew even redder. He was already concerned when he heard the moan, and now his fears had been confirmed.
“I- uh- you guys can continue what you were doing.” Renjun stuttered before running back to wherever he came from. You head the front door slam shut.
You looked down at Chenle's just as shocked face before slowly getting off of him. He got up and the two of you sat in silence before Chenle finally broke the ice.
"...I don't think it worked."
