“Drooling again Blake?” Elle’s comment is light even as she moves past Alex, breaking her focus on Tara who is already laughing, glancing over her shoulder at Alex and smirking, the tight bikini had done it’s job. Clara was smirking even as she settles beside Alex on the blanket. “Don’t mind Elle, she’s just a lil crispy.” “Again?” “Always.” Clara’s shrug is light and she laughs at the sight of Spencer’s chair being hoisted by the army of kids even as Kristy settles with the few smaller kids who hadn’t taken part in dumping Spencer into the water. Matt and Kristy had drifted apart recently, Matt accepting he was maybe a little more interested in Spencer than he had wanted to be. He had quickly risen to try and retrieve Spencer from the kids, then followed them into the water. “Hey Morgan, maybe go rescue your boy?” Elle calls over, already moving to scoop up the ball that Tara had missed catching to throw back to the man. “Chaotic as ever.” Penelope’s comment is light as she settles beside Mae in the deckchairs, holding out a fresh iced coffee and enjoying Mae’s laugh. “Everyone but Prentiss apparently…” “Or Jareau.” Penelope agreed, both women smirking when JJ and Emily finally broke out of the slightly deep makeout they had been indulging in to flip her off, soon settling back together. It may have been chaos, but it was their chaos.

Mae has been friends with Matt and Kristy long enough to have been stuck on permanent Auntie duty whenever Mom and Dad need a break. Which is totally fair, she gets exhausted after an evening spent chasing around the little terrors who somehow wind up totally hopped up on sugar and various other additives, none of which should be legal. But sometimes, on the nights alone in her apartment when she’s drank considerably too much wine, she dwells on how much she wants to go on a date night with the both of them.

However, rather than bring up the potential for polyamory to her two very heterosexual, terribly monogamous best friends, Mae tries her best to find a significant other and take her role of best auntie in the world incredibly seriously. So when Matt calls her up on one of their off days, begging her to come over because their babysitter cancelled at the last minute, she promises to get to their house as soon as possible.

She doesn’t bother getting dressed up for it, the kids wouldn’t care what state their Auntie May is in so long as she brings them candy, and while she’s confused at the lack of noise coming from the house when she rings the doorbell, she doesn’t think much of it. That is, until Matt and Kristy answer the door decked to the nines, one arm swung around the other’s back and the other outstretched for Mae to take, a simple yet effective “Stay?” falling from both of their lips.

All Matt centric because he lives in my head rent free

Matt is a bisexual.

After the end of the original series (s15) Matt retired from the FBI to be a full-time stay-at-home dad. He still volunteers with vets and helps them get adjusted to civilian life.

Matt modeled to help pay for college but never told anyone at the FBI until Mae and Penelope discovered his secret and never let him live it down.

Matt and Penelope are good friends and she loves hanging out with the Simmons family. She always volunteers to babysit when she knows Matt and Kristy need a date night.

Matt is the biggest Garvez shipper and loves going home to tell with Kristy about how oblivious Penelope is and how lovesick Luke is.

I Felt A Million Things When I First Met You – Emily Prentiss/Clara Seger.

The one where Emily finally comes clean about just how come Clara’s always so willing to help. Written for Criminal Minds Pride hosted by @the-guilty-writer​ .

“What did you want to tell us Emily?” Of course it’s JJ who asks, Emily thinks, tightening her grip on Clara’s hand when Clara squeezes her thigh gently under the table, a promise not to bolt no matter how this goes. She’s hidden this too long, the group deserve to know. The gathering of her team and their families makes this harder than she expected and she takes a breath. “Okay so… I’m… just going to say it.” A breath. “I’m a lesbian… and I’ve been dating Clara for the last… seven or so years.” Silence. She hates it and her grip tightens further even as Mae finally breaks the silence, the one friend Clara had brought for support. “Well, that makes… sense.” A pause. “Clara… why didn’t you tell me?” “It’s… not like it’s easy to say?” Clara murmurs and Mae sighs, rolling her eyes and hugging Clara tightly before moving to hug Emily. “Well, I’m happy for you.” The words seem to shake something loose and Clara smiles slightly, relaxing. Of course, not everyone keeps up to the point. Matt breaks the silence a little. “So…. Clara… didn’t you… have a husband?” “Bi women aren’t unicorns Matt.” Kristy. Matt’s wife. Kristy breaks into his comment and smacks his arm lightly. “You married one, remember idiot?”

Matt has the good grace to blush and smile a little.

“Yeah, yeah of course. Sorry. Didn’t really… think.”

His smile widens when Clara rolls her eyes and he moves to hug both Emily and Clara.

“Good for you.”

Slowly but surely things filter through and JJ moves to join them last, her voice low.

“Can… can we talk? Em?”

“Of course.”

Emily smiles and Clara smiles, accepting JJ’s hug before excusing herself to get to know the rest of Emily’s team better.

“You… think you could help me find… Elle?”

JJ’s request is so soft Emily smiles and nods.

“I can try… last I heard she’d found someone but… I can try.”

Later, much later, JJ would open her door to Elle on her doorstep, her eyes widening a little before she pulls Elle closer, laughing softly when Elle’s voice is soft but warm.

“The one person? Was Clara… I’m all yours if you want me.”

Because I'm curious about this...

A reminder that these are fanon ships, hence why Katt (Matt x Kristy) is not among the choices and I wanted to know who you would ship Matt with aside from him and Kristy since people always used his marriage as an excuse to not ship him with anyone, even though that hasn't stopped them from shipping Hotch and JJ with other people despite the two characters having spouses in the show (even if the former was divorced and later widowed). As well as Morgan, though he was shipped with Reid and or Garcia prior to eventually marrying Savannah in the show.

You don't have to ship either of these pairings, you can simply choose the one you find the most interesting

Top 5 books were, in no particular order, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness by Arundhati Roy, Do Not Say We Have Nothing, by Madeleine Thien, Human Acts by Han Kang, Every Day is for the Thief by Teju Cole, and Evicted by Matthew Desmond

Least favorite were, in no particular order, A Map of Betrayal by Ha Jin, Swamplania! by Karen Russell, Song of the Jade Lily, by Kristy Manning, The Fire This Time:Young Activists and the New Feminism, and The Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown.

Goals for this year: More nonfiction (I only read 12 nonfiction books last year), more classics (though I’m not sure how to count later 20th c ‘modern classics’ like books by Ishiguro or Atwood), more fiction in translation/fiction from non-Anglophone writers (who sometimes write/publish in English and sometimes don’t), more poetry

Kristi Mae is a STEM doctoral student in Canada who holds degrees in  music, psychology, and (unofficially) napping. Alina takes a satisfied sip of her coffee. A stunning paper, truly. Remarkable as they come.

The coffee burns her tongue.

She leans over to write more, but a whispered giggle nearby makes her turn.

“Skatten min,” the girl says in a light, warning tone. My treasure.

The tealight in front of them is lit, its flame too large for its small body; it flickers and dances under the hand of the person who sits across from the girl. His eyes aren’t on the flame, but on the girl, brighter than a thousand candles and more adoring.

Despite his distracted gaze, the flame grows under his hand, sputtering in web-like tendrils above the edge of the tea light, reaching with greedy fingers towards the open window.

I love the idea of Matt modelling to get him through college! Do you have any hcs for that? Because I also have a few hcs too now that I’m thinking about it lol

I just had the general HC but I can make some up for you on the fly

He never told anyone that's what he was doing but occasionally his college friends and peers were like "IS THIS YOU" and shove some random ad he did in his face

When he met Kristy she was like "I feel like we've met before" but they did not she just saw a cologne ad he did

Kristy teases him that if they ever needed money he could just pick up modeling again

He didn't tell anyone in the BAU or IRT about his modeling days but Monty and Penelope found out and told everyone else

When Mae found out she printed a bunch of his ads and posted them around the IRT office so he walked in like 😐

Penelope's goal is to find every single photoshoot he did in college but he refuses to help her - everytime she finds a new one she sends it to Mae immediately

He's not ashamed of his short lived modeling career he just doesn't want to talk about it because he's achieved way more since then
