You woke up in the middle of the night confused.

You didn't remember falling asleep with the weighted blanket on you.

When you opened your eyes a soft laugh escaped your lips. As you realized didn’t fall asleep with the weighted blanket on you, instead, Clyde decided to be the weighted blanket.

As much as you loved your boyfriend, you didn't love how hot he got at night.

Sure, when it was cold his warmth was comforting, but tonight was a hot summer night in West Virginia.

You, in fact, did not need Clyde’s extra body heat added into the mix, but you didn't move. How could you? Especially when he seemed so peaceful and comfortable. His arms wrapped around your middle and his head resting on your chest. Plus, you did love how protected and loved he made you feel.

What you did do was squirm around, just a little bit, after all, you needed to be comfortable too.

After you got yourself settled you pressed a kiss to Clyde’s hair and drifted back off to sleep.

When morning came around you woke up before Clyde, but you didn't move. You just laid there rubbing one hand up and down his back, while the other played with his hair.

After an hour or two, Clyde started to stir.

“Good morning baby.” You mumble placing a kiss on his forehead.

He looked up at you with the most innocent eyes and rose-colored cheeks.

“Mornin’ Darlin’,” Clyde mumbles looking up at you with a sheepish grin on his face, “I did it again, didn't I?”

You nod.

His cheeks become even pinker.

“I’m sorry, I–”

You cut him off with a kiss.

“You don’t need to apologize, Clyde, I love you, but maybe we can turn the AC on at night? Just so I’m not sweating when I wake up with you on top of me.”

Your tone is playful and it makes Clyde feel a bit better.

“I certainly think we can do that, I love you too.”

Hi!!! A first date story is definitely in the works. I’m working out the kinks in my brain :) Here’s #10 from the Soft Summer prompts with Clyde and Sherri! 10. Bare feet “Hey, baby,” Sherri said, peeping out of the backdoor. Clyde had brought two of their dining chairs outside and put them in front of a kiddie pool, where he was soaking his feet. He looked over his shoulder. “Hey, darlin’…” he responded. He tilted his head back, and Sherri saw the bottom of a beer bottle tilt upward. “C’mon sit wit’ me.” Sherri walked down the porch steps and through the yard. Before sitting down, she kissed Clyde on the forehead. Then, she took a seat, kicked off her sandals, and stuck her feet in the lukewarm water. The buzz of bees in the distance filled their silence. She lifted her foot and wiggled her red toes. “If I’d have known you were back here giving out foot soaks I’d have saved myself some money. I just came from the salon,” Sherri said. She stuck her foot back in the water. “Lemme see ‘em…” Clyde requested. Sherri lifted both of her feet—letting water fall down her skin and back into the pool. “I like that color.” “Thanks.” Clyde took another sip of his beer, and Sherri watched a baby bird bounce around the yard. “What made you get this?” she asked, tapping her heel against the bottom of the pool. “I was at the Lowe’s lookin’ at yard furniture and the pools caught my eye…” his voice trailed off. “I settled on this one. Somethin’ to put my feet in while I watch the birds, I guess.” Sherri felt a sudden sadness coming from Clyde. “Did you see any nice furniture?” she asked, changing the subject. “What about swings?” Clyde took another swallow and nodded. “Mm-hmm. A few.” He looked at Sherri and smiled. “That’s what you want?” “I wouldn’t mind it. I used to want a porch swing when I was little. My Aunt Peaches had one. I used to fall asleep in that thing every time.” “Yeah, they had a few. We can go look at ‘em Saturday, I suppose.” Sherri nodded and looked out at the yard as she lifted her feet again. She dropped them back in the water. “Let me see ‘em again…” Sherri lifted her feet and smirked. “You got a thing for feet now?” “Well…” he said with a high-pitched voice. “You know I just got a thing for Sherri.” Sherri laughed and put her feet back in the water. “You’re so silly.” “You just got them done, you said?” “Yep, right after work.” “They did good work…” Clyde said with a nod. Sherri lifted her feet once more to get another look. Then Clyde lifted his right foot and put it next to hers. She rubbed the side of her foot against his. “Big ass feet,” she mumbled playfully. “Well…” Clyde said with a grin. “Don’t you say it…” Sherri laughed. Clyde smirked. “Alright, I won’t. But you know.” He dropped his foot, and Sherri dropped hers. Then, they slid their feet close together in the pool and watched the sky turn pink and orange.

Hello! Because of my love for Wakanda Forever in all of its GLORY, I have been sucked back into the world of fanfiction!

Formerly known as @krockafella, I actually came back to Tumblr after I left all social media over a year ago, because I am truly hyper-fixated on Tenoch Huerta after his turn as Namor in BPWF. Also the performances that Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett gave in this film deserved all of the awards! Those women, along with Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o are the backbone AND the meat of the film, no question. This film, more than even the first, has me thinking about it and consuming content/media about it almost obsessively now days. Y'all know how it goes.

So now, during this phase of hyper-fixation, I am interested in exploring these characters and reading the ways in which others interpret their motivations and arcs in their writing.

Fic writers in this fandom have been FEEDING me, with such amazing content! Every day I am amazed at the creativity and skill people are demonstrating with the fruitful motivation the film provided.

So! Because I’ve been reading and enjoying so many of these gems, I decided that I would do this Fic Rec Friday post every other Friday (that’s what I can commit to right now) where I post the fics that I have read, that I’m currently reading, or re-reading with a brief comment on why I love it.

I will read other things, but this is what I am mainly interested in right now, and it’s already a lot.

*If I specify that Reader fic characters be coded as Black or a Character of Color, it's because a lot of Reader fic tends to be coded white. If the reader fic is written in such a way as to truly be devoid of indicators to race/ethnicity, I will read it.

A few things to know:

I ship both Nashuri and Attoye (among other pairings, some of them are rare pairs). I DO NOT engage in fandom wars or discourse. I do not argue with strangers on the internet at my big age. If either of these pairs doesn’t make sense to you, or weirds you out or makes you uncomfortable or upsets you, it’s OK, but we don’t need to argue about it. If you are an author and your fic is on this list, but you do not wish for it to be included because you don’t want it on a list with the other pairing, just let me know (cordially please, without attitude) and I will remove your fic from the list. No harm, no foul.

That said, if there is anything on the list that you feel is beyond simply nonsensical, but problematic, genuinely offensive, discriminatory, et al, please let me know. I do my best not to read or recommend things that fall on that spectrum, but if you have a genuine concern I of course want to know if there's something I overlooked or didn't consider.

These recs will be posted with the link to the fic on ao3 and if the author has a Tumblr, their @handle. If the author has no Tumblr, but is on some other social platform, I will post that instead.

If the fic is posted on Tumblr, I will ❤️ it first, and then it will be queued to reblog on Fridays. I will usually comment on it, but my comments can mostly be found in the tags. If that is unacceptable to you, I’m sorry, that’s the way I like to run my blog. I like to do a rapid scroll, like, and then go through my likes some time later (days maybe weeks depending on how busy I am) and queue them up for reblogs. If you’d rather I’d reblog as soon as you post your fic or not at all, let me know (cordially please, without attitude) and I will do my best. I have a full time job, and sometimes all I have time for is to scroll and like quickly. Then on the weekends, I sit my old ass down, go through my likes and queue them up. I’m saying this multiple times so that there is no misunderstanding.

If the author has more than one work, not all of them will be listed in one post. I may not have read the others yet, and spreading them out will help keep the list fresh.

I will only recommend what I have read. I can’t recommend something I haven’t read myself, for obvious reasons. If you want me to read something, please ask. However, if it doesn’t end up on this list, please understand. I am open to giving feedback, but I probably won’t recommend something I don’t like.

This is mostly for me to organize the fics I like in a way that’s easy to find for anyone who is interested that may stumble across this blog. It’s useful, but it’s not that serious. If you want to interact with me about it, please do! (be nice tho)

Have you ever done a set with Rick and Garret in the church before/when he kills him? It's one of my favorite Savage Grimes moments, that whole conversation and Andy's choices as an actor playing that scene. I tried to search your blog and Tumblr in general but no luck. It's also a dark scene lighting wise, so I guess people aren't inclined to gif it.

I know I’ve included it in sets before but no I haven’t giffed the scene on it’s own as a set. I can do that for you if you’d like, I actually started a series of great Rick moments that I keep forgetting to get back to and that would certainly be a part of it.

Nichole and Bim manage this Tumblr and our Twitter in addition to making the podcast and doing our other day jobs. We’ve been on Tumblr for many years now and we know that messages don’t always make it through, but if your Asks did make it through the Tumblr machine, and didn’t get an answer, here’s a glimpse into what out inbox looks like at the moment:

That number climbs daily, and especially when we are not on hiatus and are putting out new episodes weekly. Posting the state of our inbox is not an excuse, just an explanation. We can and do apologise wholeheartedly and unreservedly for not getting to your messages. It’s not a nice feeling to send in a message and have it go unread or unanswered. The Tumblr message interface is pretty shitty, in that you have to endlessly scroll to find a message, and there is still no sorting power, even all these years later. We wish we could answer all the messages that come through to us. We qualify on the podcast all the time, for example: “send us an Ask on Tumblr: we may answer your question!” Just to preempt people feeling like they’re yelling into a void. It’s still a shitty feeling, though.

You’re right that we don’t promote other people’s projects here. But also: we don’t know what your project is. 

So we really don’t know why our tweet to Hozier (we assume this one?) would trouble you. 

By your own admission, you love our show and have listened to almost every episode (thanks!), so you must know that Nichole is a major fan of his and has been for quite a while, so it makes sense that we would want him as a guest on the show. Mentions of him (his hands, his voice, his french fry build, his hair...) are littered all through so many of our episodes... We discussed him in an end-of-year episode last December.
